  • Good morning,
Co gratulations Peggi on the new baby. I love the name Caden. New baby's always make me cry too. Hope everyone is doing well. Can't wait to se pictures.

Marianne, great job on the food scouting. Never heard of Jasons, but it sure sounds good. Any food that is wrapped in fresh bread is my favorite! Howard the weather in GA. I am already missing summer.

Denise, I am with you also on Weight Watchers. I don't get on the scale every day, only on Friday for weigh in. This way I am not obsessing, and as long as I log all I eat, I am ok with what it says a one day a week. This new scale I bought will also tell you how much of the weight is water, but I have not read the directions. My theory is still the fluctuations are water. If you figure out how many ounces of food and liquid you consumed a day (64 oz of water is supposed to weigh 3.5#) there could be a correlation. I will read the directions and see how this works. I am salt sensitive so any prepared foods can help me retain too much fluid. Sounds like you shave a couple busy days ahead, and then your trip. Are you going on the bike?

Lori, how are things going for your daughter?

Karen, thanks for the encouragement. I just have to take it slower, pay attention and things should be ok with the knee.

Hope everyone see is having a good week, and Evelyn, we are here for you !

Denise - You didn't like the cal levels? ; )

I don't know what a Muffaletta is but did notice they had some awesome desserts! My plan is to get the Southwest Chicken Chilli - no toppings (1 cup; 116 cals) with a side of fresh steamed veggies. I will then pour the chili over the veggies (61 cals). Total supper cals: 177 cals. I'm not a big fan of veggies (as you as may have noticed) so I have to be createive. Many times I will make chilli or turkey sloppy joes and pour it over the veggies. For lunch, I'm stopping at the grocery store to buy a weight watchers entre. The sodium is usually pretty high on those but it's better than catered food whereby I do not know the cal count.

As I'm sure you guys feel this way too, I LOATH relosing weight I've already lost. My time is limited before the wedding and I REALLY REALLY do not want to or have the time to struggle another 3 weeks to relose 2 - 5 lbs.

Lori - Do you think water is a myth? Truly? I think it's one of the main keys to weight loss. I believe it flushes that fat right out of our body. Plus all our organs work better when they are hydrated...which I'm sure you already know how our bodies work : ) with your yoga and all.

Kim - have you dug out from under the paper work yet? Hope all is well.

Evelyn - Welcome! I'm glad you've joined our group. We have lost a few of our group members over the last few weeks so it's nice to have a new person join. As Denise said, we are a small group, and I personally like smaller groups.

Elizabeth - Hope things are well. How are things going at the church?

Dodie - How are you doing?

Peggi - New Grandma! I'm sure you're still floating on cloud nine! Don't forget to drink some water while visiting baby. If we can't eat well, the least we owe ourselves is some good water intake...well, unless you're on a motorcycle...then you get a pass.

Ok. Off to start my day. You guys are my beacon in the night; my soft place to land; right there with me every step of my day. THANKS!

OK Red, Is that a whole baby or just a head in a blanket? LMBO They have him so tied up in there I would feel clastraphobic.
emoticon-cute-001.gifAll kidding aside, he is a wide eyed cutie. Again, Congrats and best wishes to you and the family!!

Marianne, Basically a Muffaletta is a sandwich, usually ham or turkey with a LOT of olives and olive oil. And I love olives. Very high in calories. We only have one restaurant around us that makes them and I get it every time I go there.

Kim, No we aren't taking the bike to TN this trip. smiley-transport016.gifThe weather this time of year is too unpredictable. Although it looks like Chattanooga is going to be sunny, but Ohio is going to be crappy, wet and cold.

Time to get my butt in gear! smiley-chores003.gif I have lots to do today. We leave tomorrow morning.

    Have great day all.

  • Lori - Do you think water is a myth? Truly?

I was just teasing. I totally support water consumption for many reasons, weight loss, elimination of toxins in the body, and the need for healthy hydration for the body to function overall.

I am so incredibly sore this morning. Already had 32 oz of water upon arising. Water will take the muscle soreness away : ) For real.

Good luck today..... not sure how you manage to get all the water in with traveling. Kudos to you : )

I'm heading out to class. Have a good one,

    My question for today...smiley-confused004.gif

I started MFP around 3 months ago. At the time when I set up my profile I set it as sedetary. I never got out of the recliner, unless I wanted to get something to eat. Now I almost never sit in the recliner and it seems I am moving pretty much right up until after dinner. My questions is...should I change my profile? I only get 1200 calories a day and I am doing really good at getting closer to that number now than when I first started but I am not really losing what I had set it up for. I had set it up to lose 1.5 to 2 lbs a week. I usually lose, but I wonder if I upped my calories just a tad, if it would help me lose faster. I don't want to be a speed demon at losing, I just want to get closer to that 2 lbs a week.

Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated. emoticon-object-060.gif

You know Denise, that's what I keep hearing, up the calories, and so many are losing weight by doing that. I myself, need more exercise, I know I don't get enough physical activity. And,thanks for letting the secret out, it is a head with no body, everybody love a wise guy!!!!lmao, too!! I almost flipped when I saw him like that, and being an aggressive gram,I stripped him to the onesie when I got to the hospital yesterday, lol  DIL is coming home with baby this evening, yay!! Denise, how long will you be on your trip?? stay safe. Marianne, when will you be home? Lori, a sore body is a fit body, right?? I made that up, but it must be true, just sayin!!! I hope all my Bella Stellas(beautiful stars) have a great day.

Denise - are you packed and ready to go?

Do you know that Atlanta is only 118 miles from Chattanooga? That is where you are going right? I wish I would have thought this through a bit as I could have met you for coffee in Chattanooga. 118 is a blink of the eye in my book. But my plane leaves tomorrow at 7PM.

    Just sayin...

No I am not all packed, but mostly. And yes, I know how far Atlanta is. My nephew-in-law lives there and when we go to Ken's parents we have had to make a trip down there just for dinner. Long story, and a long trip. Hopefully this trip they will be coming up to Chattanooga. 4 hours round trip just to eat, taking 2- 88 year old parents is not a fun trip by any means.
And don't worry about leaving before I get there...we won't get there until Friday. We stop in Lexington KY for the night. (Free hotel room makes it nice)

You have a safe trip home tomorrow. I will be checking in all weekend with the I-pod..fun times. LOL

    Hey Denise,

The short answer is yes, up your calories to 1500. The trip is a great time to test the waters on the calories and give you more space to accommodate eating out. Like Marianne suggested while she has been traveling, up the water if at all possible.

I hesitate somewhat to answer these questions because during the classes for personal trainer certification we spent hours on this topic alone and there isn't a simple straight forward answer.

Have an outstanding trip! We'll miss you and be thinking of you.

  • Lori, how are things going for your daughter?
    Kim

Thanks for asking, Kim. She's doing great and is really enjoying her new roommate. So difficulty actually led her to a better experience. I am so very relieved.
DIL is coming home with baby this evening, yay!!
Lori, a sore body is a fit body, right?? I made that up, but it must be true, just sayin!!!

Peggy, so happy for you & new grandbaby, Caden. Enjoy his homecoming!

Yes, sore body is closer to fit body. I actually was surprised in yoga this morning. Sore turns into a stronger pose pretty quickly. Water helped wash some of the soreness away.
I've got a busy day with work, no breaks, so I'm planning and packing my food to go for the day. Including water!
Evelyn, how's your week going. Hoping juggling work, family and weight loss plans are working out.
I just realized that I am not crazy. There 'is" an Apple Caramel Yogurt Parfait with 180 calories. But it is at Mcd's not Wendy's. Remember the 400 calorie parfait I had the other day...?? I knew I had seen one somewhere. I will have to try that one now..
    Karen

Karen, keep us posted if you find this to be a good option at McD. It's always good to know where nutritionally yummy things can be found.
Ok. We have a plan for tomorrow (Wednesday). I drove around tonight looking for a subway so I could have a half way healthy supper tomorrow. Instead, I found Jason's Deli!

As I'm sure you guys feel this way too, I LOATH relosing weight I've already lost. My time is limited before the wedding and I REALLY REALLY do not want to or have the time to struggle another 3 weeks to relose 2 - 5 lbs.

Marianne... love it when a plan comes together! I think your hiding vegetables strategy is absolutely great. My friend is Indian and she says she only likes vegetables the way her mom makes them because you can't taste them. So if Indian spices are enjoyable, I would recommend them. Trader Joe's has a green curry sauce that I enjoy over vegetables. Cheering you on for new pound loss to meet your wedding goals.

@Kim - how's the knee? Thought of you today in class; I incorporated some simple tai chi moves in our last 30 minutes. They have such a wonderful feel to them. I like Scott Cole's DVDs... really good stuff. He has one on weight loss. www.scottcole.com

Dodie & Elizabeth -- whatcha up to? Miss ya both. Elizabeth I forget when you were returning from your trip.

Denise -- have a really great trip!!!!

    Have a good evening everyone,

I am so confused. I went into my profile and changed both my lifestyle and my exercise goal and it still only gives me 1200 calories. Should I change them manually? If I just eat more calories, I will always be over for the day...and I don't want people thinking I am screwing around. Heck my daughter is shorter than me and only weighs maybe 5 to 10 lbs less than me and even she gets 1400 calories on here. What am I doing wrong??

Too much to think about...my head hurts. smiley-sick008.gif

Yes, change it manually. I was trying to find a chart I once owned that told you the calorie counts according to weight range and just haven't located it. I'll try to get you more concrete info by the time you get back from your trip.

Lori, I googled it and it came up with 1347 calories so I set mine at 1400 for right now. I weigh in tomorrow morning because we are leaving so I figured this was a good time to change it. My weigh in should be an interesting one. So far no loss for this week. Can I hope for a miracle overnight?:blushing:

    Denise
  • Denise I changed my total calories manually also. I really think 1200 is too low. Have a wonderful, safe trip! Hope your food choices are not stressed and you enjoy a bit too! Good luck on weigh in!

Majunta you are doing well on your trip with the food choices, good for you! Travel safe on your way home!

Red that baby is a cutie! Hope everyone made it home and you all are enjoying him! Congrats again! Exciting!

Lori so happy for your daughter, a roommate you click with is essential! You are a workout maniac! In a good way! WTG!

Karen I'm starting to crave that parfait!!!! Stop it!!! Or try it and tell me it's horrible, even if you have to lie to me! :)

I've had two crazy days... next two will be calmer. Soon my husband will be gone hunting several weekends... darn! :) I just hate being a hunting widow, NOT! Looking forward to relaxing time for me when not at work... and a visit to my kids in a couple weeks for a long weekend.

Have a great Thursday everyone! :glasses:

I hope everyone traveling, is safe getting where you are going. I would love being a hunter widow,I think it would be nice to have a bit of time to myself. Just got back from seeing grandson, and dog's are holding their legs together, so they need to go out!!lol

It is suppose to only go up to 54 degrees the whole weekend!!! talk about freeze your balls off, this could happen, well, obviously not to me!!! weigh in tomorrow, good luck. I'm feeling very fat tonight. Cube steak and gravy really stick to your ribs, haha.

I already weighed in and it wasn't pretty. Don't sweat it. We are in Ky. for the night and I actually worked out after dinner. I have no idea how to log my food for tonight so I will not even try. I will admit to eating dessert. Ken and I split a piece of chocolate brownie peanut butter combo pie. I was going to feel guilty but it was too good. So no I don't feel guilty but I made sure I worked it off.
I am using the I-pod so I will keep this short. Everyone have a good weigh in tomorrow. I had the bad one for us all
    Nite!

Gravy! You might be crazy girl! But at least your feeling full. I'm waiting for my large salad to hit and have that full feeling.

Thankfully I don't care for gravy... or pie crust... weird but two things I should live without and I actually can!

:flowerforyou: Have a fun camping trip! Do you bundle up and have a fire or stay inside more? (I have the cutiest pic for here but can't figure out how to get it to work!!!)
Hope nothing freezes! Of course wine would help! Don't forget to pack that!

Weigh in- here we come! Yikes! :ohwell:

Yay, Denise... you are enjoying vacation! Just what you should be doing! Continue!!!!!
  • Hello everyone,

Hope everyone that is traveling and camping have a happy and safe trip. Not much to tell here. Had a bad day at work. Do not like it when someone yells at me. I have been working for my brother for 24 years and I still do not understand some people. Funny how when I was younger people like that use to make me cry. But now I just tell them off and hang up on them or throw them out of the office..Of course it just gets under your skin and you can't shake it off and ruins your whole day...So glad tomorrow is Friday.
I am also not looking forward to the weigh in. I also feel fat tonight. Had a hamburger for dinner..It is kinda just laying there.

Good luck to everyone in the am..

    Have a good night.

Hi All, I have been working extra this week...someone's son has strep, so she has to tend to her little one. I will be on this weekend to catch up with everyone. Have a great Friday and Karen hope your day goes better than yesterday!!
  • Morning everyone, I hope all our travelers have a safe trip and don't forget; never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly!

Working up the nerve to get on the scale this morning, not sure what I will see, not much in the way of exercise this week. I hope everyone has a good weigh in today. I'll check in later, need to get a move on, it's raining and traffic will be bad. Happy Friday everyone and Dodie, Caden is beautiful. Hope mom and everyone are doing well.
Bye for now, look out scale here I come!

Good Morning,Beauties!!! I'm wrapped up in an afgan, freezing, omg, it's so cold here!! Camping is going to be a cold event, but we'll muddle thru!! So, I weighed in this morning, and lost .4oz.!!:ohwell: The lesson I learned here is, Monday and Tuesday, there was hardly any eating or exercise, because of being at hospital for new baby. So,Wednesday was pretty good, yesterday, not so active, but somewhat, and stayed under calories, but ate food that made me feel like crap all evening. I desparately need the exercise, and I need to do more, of it,pain or no pain!!! I just hate pain, lol Denise, it sounds like you're having a good time, good for you. The dessert sounded awesome, and you and ken have to splurge at times, everyyone does. Stay safe on your trip. Hi, evelyn, how did that salad work for you???? Who could not like gravy and pie crust??:noway: At camp, we bundle up and sit around the fire drinking wine,or hot tea with a "little whiskey or rum in it!!!!! If I had to sit inside at camp, I wouldn't want to camp, except when it rains! Even then, sometimes we sit under the awning and watch the rain. Karen, sorry you had a bad day,it's hard to shake it off sometimes, I guess meditation might help, that's what my husband keeps telling me!!lol Dodie, you're a little working machine!!!! Going to the football game tonight? that'll be a cold one! Karen, hope you have a good weigh in,we are all dreading it this week! Caden is my new grandson, and thank you. He is a beauty. Marianne, I don't know if you're back or not, hope you are good. Everyone have a great Friday:heart:
  • Good Morning Ladies!

Karen - dealing with customers can be so draining! I totally understand the not being able to shake it. I hope today is a much better day.

Dodie - Sounds like you have been putting in a lot of time at work too. I am sure the weekend is a very very welcome change.

Peggy - Have fun camping! Stay warm. Just think of that little one and you will warm right up.
I hear you on needing more exercise. I, for one, need to buckle down and add lifting weights back into my routine. I do a little in my Monday evening class, but it's not enough. I think I am dropping zumba for a little bit. It's fun, but yesterday's workout on the treadmill with the heart rate monitor on reminded me the intensity I need to be at for cardio. I sweat during zumba, but nothing like the same amount of time on cardio equipment.

Evelyn -- So are you & water still dating? It is really hard to get all that water in if you are out and about with work. Looks like you had a good week. Things slowing down in life at all?

Denise -- Good for you getting a workout in at the hotel!!! You created balance for eating out. And everyone needs a break from the same out eating routine to make it through the long haul. I am confident even in what you called a bad day, was far more conscious and controlled by the healthy mindset you have for yourself. Really good job!

Marianne -- When are you home? How did the rest of the trip go? You are our road warrior; and doing a very fine job of managing it all. Thanks for capturing our weigh in.

Kim -- How's the knee? Rainy weather and joints don't always get along. Hope the sun peaks out this weekend.

Elizabeth -- How was your trip?

As for me, I have yoga class this morning, running errands, need to pack and need to meet with my friend (the other yoga instructor) to go over what we are doing tomorrow at the grand opening of the studio where we both teach. The studio is having free demo classes from 8-2. Friend and I are doing three 30 min. segments. Then Greg and I are meeting friends for a concert at a winery near Gettysburg, Afterwards, we are staying with same friends at a cabin in Caledonia State Park. It will all go by far too quickly! We will get back late Sunday evening.

    Have a terrific weekend everyone!

    Good morning Sista bellas!!

Getting ready to hit the road for today so I won't be back for awhile. Unless we go to a restaurant of something with wireless. No computer that I know of at the in-laws :( I hope everyone has a fantastic weigh in. I am chalking my gain up as a learning experience...do not eat what you can't work off.

I did not work out this morning. I couldn't sleep last night. My head is so stuffed up I can't breathe. I am hoping and praying I do not get a cold. That knocks me off the treadmill for at least a week. I can't afford that right now.

Well, this is it. Everyone have a great weekend. Try to control your fun and if you can't control it, imagine me there with you. I want to have fun too!!!

And Kim, we have learned over the years that the speed limit is the way to go...anything faster costs you money...either in gas or tickets and we can't afford either one. :noway:
    Take care.
    Denise
