This recipe was good! And you could replace ground turkey with ground beef (just adjust the cals when you add the recipe to MFP). The MFP cals came out 35 higher than the book.

    Gound Turkey Potato Dinner
    1 lb ground turkey
5 C. raw potatoes, sliced (i'd slice a little thicker next time)
    1 Onion
    Salt/pepper
14 1/2-oz can cut green beans, UNDRAINED (provides the liquid for the crock)
40oz can mushroom pieces, UNDRAINDED) I hate mushrooms so I did not use
10 3/4-oz can cream of mushroom

Spray crock pot with a little Pam. Crumble uncooked ground meat in slow cooker
    Add potatoes, onions, salt, pepper
Add beans and mushrooms. Pour soup over top.
Cover. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high 4 hours.

    Servings: 6
    Serving Size: 1 C.

    Book Calories: 250

    Morning Bellas!

Like I said..plans change! I am going with the hubby today. He is going to be nice and not take the bike on the ride, but take the truck so I can go. It is too damp and cold, my arthritis wouldn't let me sit for hours on the back of a bike. He was still going without me, on the bike, until last night. I kind of had a talk with him about him, that bike and me.

I will be gone most of the day. You all have a good day. Stay focused and if you need anything...get up and get it. Move and you will burn calories that way.

Gotta run (or walk to the truck in my case)
    Denise:flowerforyou:

I'm glad you're going today! The greatest thing about communication is communicating. The ability to speak up instead of stuffing, IMHO, perpetuates a healthy day. Stuffing our feelings leads to needing some type of comfort. For most of us, that comfort is food. Kudos Denise!

My day is filled today. On the agenda is: pick up dresses from alterations (yay!), Walgreens to return some items, pick up winter coat at cleaners, drop off my old wedding veil to chosen daughter (Sara), attend two different benefits for cancer victims (child with Leukemia & friend with Colon cancer), pick up dog food, stop at a Halloween store and possibly a little clothes shopping. Whew...what a full day.

Sara's spooktacular bachelorette party is next Saturday. The girls have decided to dress up as goolie bride and bridesmaids. I plan to dress up as the ugly step-mother. Ok, I'm not a big fan of dressing up but I think if I put some goolie makeup on and rat my hair, and maybe some fake buck teeth I'll fit right in...hahahaha. Sara's Mom will be bringing two black dead roses as our corsage. It should be fun! The festivites start out with dinner....AT A MEXICAN RESTAURANT!!!!! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE Mexican food. I haven't had a chance to look at the menu yet but this is an authentic restaurant and I may have to smuggle in a sandwich or something. Another choice is to eat right before I go.

I do not want to "stand out" if I don't join in the eating part but there is no way I am consuming any mexican food at this time. I know it would be an automatic 2-5lbs of weight gain. This day is about Sara therefore, I need to figure out how I will not eat but yet not call attention to myself. If I order a plate and it sits in front of me, more than likely I will eat it. Maybe I could order some type of soup. What are your thoughts?

Ok Bellas, off to start the day.

Stay strong throughout the day, love yourself, treat yourself like you would treat someone you're taking care of.

    YOU ARE WORTH IT!

  • Good for you Denise! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Dang phone  ... now on computer. Wanted to say it sounds like you stood up for yourself and now have a fun day ahead, good for you!!!!

My hub just left with a friend to hunt some more, hopfully his friend will get his deer today.
It's pouring here, been pouring all night long... last place I would go is out in the woods in this!

I'm up, enjoying my mocha and some quiet time. Oh and the fireplace is on.... loving that!
Heading back to the gym today, like it or not I've got to go! Starting slow again and building up. My back is better but still giving me some pains... hoping a little strength buiding will help.
I'm planning to tear up the den today... needs some major cleaning out and organizing... it's been my dumping ground for too long.

Ok, I'm going to do some catching up on the board so more later...
Have a wonderful weekend all! :flowerforyou:
  • Ok, and now I see your post Marianne! It wasn't on my phone.

Sounds like an action packed day for you but some fun stuff. I like the party plans.... sounds like it will be fun. I'd eat healthy before you go and then order a small salad with dressing on the side. Hopefully they have a low cal one or you could sneak in your own. Most ladies would admire that you are sticking to your plan and be fine with whatever you do. Just be you, do you and you will be happy in the end!
Stay strong throughout the day, love yourself, treat yourself like you would treat someone you're taking care of.

    YOU ARE WORTH IT!
Thank you for this! Love it and so true! I need this on constant feed in my ear.... can you please arrange that?!
Have a great day Marianne, love those fundraisers too. So many needing support in this area. Good for you!:flowerforyou:

fyi- I've got Gene Simmons 'Wedding Boot Camp' on... have you seen this one? Intense but soooo good!

Read this on another thread; thanks Mollie1037!

Identify and avoid your trigger foods.

Do you tell yourself one bite won't hurt? Sometimes one bite is just fine, but sometimes it isn't. You are the only person who can make that determination. The key is to find the balance between deprivation and indulgence. If you take a bite or two, walk away, and don't think about the food again for days, you're probably okay.

If, however, you have a bite and spend all of your free time thinking about the next bite, it's probably a trigger food that you should consider avoiding. If you don't avoid the trigger foods, one bite leads to another and another. Is it worth it? The new you says, "No, I want to live a full, healthy life. I will not go back to the old pain and suffering. I have a choice today."

Action for the day: List your trigger foods in your journal. Be brutally honest. Try to avoid your trigger foods just for today.

    Trigger foods:

Jif peanut butter – bought Jif a few weeks ago and finished the small jar within 2 weeks. Now I know that doesn’t sound that bad but when you compare it to a natural peanut butter I bought months ago that still sits in the fridge, it’s huge. No more Jif in my house. Yesterday, I walked past Jif and apologized for not buying it and told it there is no way I could have it in my house right now…hahahahaha

Meal in One (Family dinner recipe)
Cereal (at night) I lay in bed at 10PM and think about a bowl of cereal until I finally give in
    Potatoes
Pizza (haven’t gorged on pizza for over 1 year)
    Toast
    Pastry
To be continued…I’m sure of it.

Did I see it??? I did! It was very good. Have you seen the wedding yet? I cried the ugly cry during the ceremony! I just hope that what we see is really what is going on. Sometimes, those shows are all about a facade. Either way though, it does emotionally suck me in.

Ah-ha...the answer to next week's Mexican dinner.....Fajitas!!!! I just looked at their menu! That'll work! smiley-dance005.gif
  • Eeewwww, this is dangerous... trigger foods:
    * Haagen Daz Vanilla Swiss Almond ice cream- you have to keep digging for the next almond... next thing you know... you see the bottom of the container.:noway:
    * Peanut M&M's... you can not eat just one... or five... or ten. :embarassed:
    * Pizza of any kind.... it's just toooooo yummy.
    * cookies... can't dwell here.... will start craving!
    * Fruity, blended drinks.... oh boy! :frown:

more later... need healthy breakfast before this drives me into the cupboards!

Not to be negative but I have questions... just trying to be helpful here,
will you use tortillas with the fajitas? those seem to have a lot of calories but if you plan for them will work.
    is it cooked in oil?

personally I don't eat fajitas due to the messiness of them but that's my personal thing.

On the plus side, lots of veggies! I do hope it works out for you!!!! :flowerforyou:

hey can you tell me why the emoticons are no longer animated on my pages?

haven't seen their wedding yet, working up to that thru the episodes. will get tissues ready! It all seems pretty open to me, I realize I could just be sucked into it all but he seems sincere in showing the good, the bad and the ugly. I find it interesting and a tad helpful with the emotional work he's doing.

Not negative at all! I agree, the tortillas are high in cals. Never thought about the veggies cooked with oil though...hmmm...something to think about.

They're animated on this end. The one in your signature is rolling around the bowl.
  • Karen good luck at the buffett. I'm not familiar with Golden Corral but hopefully they have a nice salad bar to focus on. Stare that bread pudding down and then walk away, you will feel so good conquering that. Awesome on the jeans being too big!!! Hospice is so amazing, they helped big time with my dad years ago. Best wishes on the 5K, that's awesome!

Elizabeth that's cool stuff related to your weight loss. Good for you!!! Best wishes to you as you leave obesity! Stay strong with your church meeting. They missed out on you, just remember that. You rock! I don't know what a stink bug is and sounds like I never want to. Is that issue over now?

Peggi I'm missing you. Been too long! Are you back at camp for that last day of clean up? And what's with that Dr? Depressed? How do you take that? Are you? I mean I think we all have that from time to time but did he put you on something? I think of you as a warm, cheerful, caring person, so loving to so many here, with great times with your family. Depression just doesn't fit with all that. Fill me in soon! Take care, hope you are well. Oh, just read the '3 hots and a cot' post... I've wondered it that will be my retirement plan  I can have anger issues sometimes, at the hub... ya know?! :embarassed: Tom Cruise! I'd def be stalking that! I once stalked Kevin Costner here, my kids were small and we totally stalked! They now tell me I was crazy! He was filming the end of Wyatt Earp here.

Dodie so sorry to hear of your moms situation. That sounds very painful, I hope she is feeling some relief now. Hang in there and remember to take care of yourself as well. My thoughts are with you all as you work thru this. My husbands grandma, who he cared for the last several years, had a colonostomy bag. She was a difficult woman to begin with and that certainly didn't help, it was to the point that she moved to an assist living facility against her will. But she learned to cope and worked thru it with great helpers. I hope your mom is able to deal with this hard change. I think it's much harder when it is an abrupt change in someones life, hopefully it only takes time for her to cope and deal with her new way of life. Best wishes to you all. :flowerforyou: Nice on the gym at work! Good for you!

Lori I'm sending you warm wishes that you stay strong and handle whatever comes with your mom. Its sounds like a lot of stress for you but your a great loving daughter to be there for her. And you remember to take time and care for yourself as well. Hope you are well now. Your exercising is amazing... I think I would end up in the hospital! Someday I may feel up to trying something new but not at this point.

Marianne are you well again, over that cold? FYI- I did buy and eat chocolate covered almonds last weekend while running around with the kids... I was hungry and figured that would help til next meal.... while they were good, so not worth the calories. Be strong! And, thank you for continuing to post our weigh ins....your just so good at it!!! Cancun... how many weeks away now? So exciting!!! Ok, just got to your post of irritations... I think you must share for us to relate/help... did one of us cause you to be irritated? We must be honest with each other, communicate, etc. It's all helpful... well guess thats my opinion anyway... share?

Denise have you looked into jobs within your school district? All schools around here always have jobs listed. It can be stressful but when you see that you have touched the heart or mind of a child that needs it, it is very rewarding. Jobs in schools are nice but the driving a bus job = short time with the kids.... not all day. If you the type of person interested in that, we have retired people come on board all the time... it's a great part time job for some. Just a thought for ya. Duh, and summers off!!!!!

Kim how are you doing? Think of you all and sending love and strength. :flowerforyou:

Ugh, that exotic animal situation with the guy... tragic that he had to sacrafic those animals for his problems. Just too sad to me. People need to reach out for help but I guess sometimes they are too deep to be able to. :brokenheart:

Ok, so I guess I'm getting my crock pot out.... hmmmm.... chicken I think.... with ? will let ya know later.

And another passing here, former coworker that retired to their remote cabin in Alaska, heart attack out of the blue, wife found him, she's moving back down here for the winter. Just another sad loss for us here.
I missed a candlelight vigil for sp ed girl here, didn't know until too late. Saw her dad sobbing on the Seattle news, probably just as well I missed it, those are hard. Such a tragic situation, police have said she died violently. :brokenheart:

Wheeeew, cycle of life is just so tough. So back to us, our journey here, commitment thru it all, supporting each other, thick and thin, ha- thin sounds great! Thanks for being here, not giving up or in, I need you, I'm happy we are all here. On to better and happier times!
    Happy rainy day all! :flowerforyou:

Dang, would like to see that! But nothing, well no emoticons, are moving on my pages. Will try restarting and see if that helps. thanks!
