Immmm baaaack! Good morning Bellas,
Just caught up reading the posts and can't figure out why I am so hungry but all the crock pot talk has got me. Could be the lack pf decent food the last few days. I haven't logged anything, but will get back on it today. I have a couple crock pot cook books, but haven't used them I will take a look. I am thinking Pazole soup. ( not sure if I spelled that right) I will post recipe later, need to shake my bacon it's getting late. With the rain and winds we lost power in the middle of the night, was looking forward to a good nights sleep, maybe tonight I will get one.

Good Morning, sounds like we're all getting rain and storms, I guess it's that time of year. Elizabeth, way to go!!!!!!!! There is something to be said for getting out in the fresh air and walking. Grab an umbrella if it's not raining too hard and go. I'm sure I look like a comedy act with my 2 dogs on leashes and my huge umbrella, things can get twisted up a bit, This is soup, chili season, the crock pot has us all wanting comfort on these cold wet days. Pizzole sounds good,Kim,let us know how it turns out. On that note, I need to get dressed, have an early doc. appt. Have a good day everyone0

Hope the doc visit goes well for you, Peggi.
I dont mind walking in the rain, but there are several inclines along the way, and in my old age, I am so afraid of falling and breaking a hip!!! Or an arm. Or a leg. Or all three. On a woodsy trail, I am okay, but on sidewalks, I get paranoid.
I can picture you with dogs and umbrella. Any attempt at walking my two ill-mannered dogs while holding an umbrella in the rain would definitely end up with an injury to someone or something! :happy:0 -

There ya go ladies. 2 simple recipes. I have used them both. The one with the beef, tomatoes and noodles I counted the noodle calories as a separate entry for my dinner. If you think it should have been counted in the recipe let me know. I debated, but wanted to make sure I was counting everything.
Today is a quiet day. The rain has let up some so I am hoping to not be as depressed as I have been. Although the scale won't budge, so I am hoping tomorrow morning it finally moves down! I have worked out more this week than last week and drank a lot more water so I am at a loss for why it isn't moving. Any suggestions?
Well, I have things to do so I better get going. This afternoon I get to go watch my granddaughter play her last volleyball game of the season and then tonight I have a HOG chapter meeting. They provide food and Ken will eat there. I will eat before I go since I never know ahead of time what they are having. Usually pizza or hamburgers and I can do without either of those tonight, I have a big weigh-in tomorrow morning.
Everyone have a great day.

Hey Bellas!
I'm whooped! The cold beat me! I will hopefully tonight!0 -
Denise,
I wish I had seen your beef noodle recipe before I put the beef stew in the crock pot. For one thing, it sounds yummier, and for another, all the calories, etc are already figured out!! I dont enjoy trying to figure out calories in something I make without a recipe. It's not impossible for me, but it takes effort!!!!
Peace Elizabeth0 -

I have plowed through so many self help books trying to figure out how to deal with my Mom's mental illness, which in turn has helped me analyze my thinking. The specific set up for the "questioning" comes from Byron Katie. You can find her on youtube. She can be out there a bit, but I like her questioning exercise.

Lori,
I read this before, but reread it just now while going back into the forum to find out what I weighed last Friday. What an awesome contribution, and thank you for taking the time to put it all down. I too love the line of questioning. I am going to bookmark it for when I especially need to be reminded of how to deal with certain situations. Thanks again!

Hey there girls!!! First off, this crock pot, comfort food on this cold, rainy day, is doing me in, beef stew, beef noodle, chicken, it's like a big warm blanket, haha Marianne,ah, I was betting big bucks on you to beat the cold!(Trying to make you smile!:ohwell: ),I hope you get better soon. Denise, thanks for the healthy,( comphy?) recipes, I saw the chicken pot pie in your diary a while back, thought it sounded so good. The weather is a real downer, but what can you do!!:frown: My doctor today told me I'm depressed!!!!  , that's pretty much how I took that diagnosis! I wanted to ***** slap him, lol. It's good to laugh at these things, it helps, right? Elizabeth, did you get your walk in??? The wet leaves are what you have to watch out for,I've become an expert faller, haha.I have fallen more this year than in my whole life, now, that is a sight to see!:blushing: Oh,Denise, have fun at the volleyball game and the Hogs (love that) meeting.Do they put those bikes away soon? I saw a guy on a bike this morning on my way to doctor,he had to be freezing and the wind had to be at least 40MPH,crazy! Hi to everyone else, miss you Eve,Dodie, come back,0

Ok. Well I didn’t wait until this evening; needed a mental work break.
Elizabeth – How exciting! Must be the endorphins from the walk running through your blood! They do provide us with a “great” feeling! Why I don’t exercise more just for the endorphins is beyond me.
Kim – Good to see you back on track!…can't figure out why I am so hungry… Could be the lack of decent food the last few days. I haven't logged anything
Looking forward to your recipe.
Peggi – I’m envisioning the dog’s leashes wrapped tightly around you and the umbrella!!
How was the Dr. visit?
Denise – Thanks for the recipes. They look delicious. What is the serving size?Although the scale won't budge, so I am hoping tomorrow morning it finally moves down! I have worked out more this week than last week and drank a lot more water so I am at a loss for why it isn't moving. Any suggestions?I will eat before I go since I never know ahead of time what they are having. Last night was dinner with chosen daughter Sara and her Mom. It was fabulous. I had invited them both out to dinner just so we could touch base before the big trip. We had a great time talking about tons of stuff. Dinner choices were good; I preplanned what I would order by looking up the Chili’s nutrition values. Ok…dessert wasn’t part of the plan but I knew I had almost enough cals….so I pulled the trigger and had me some dessert. It’s all good.
Hope your day is going well!0 -
Denise – Thanks for the recipes. They look delicious. What is the serving size?
They are both 1 to 1 1/2 cups. The cook book for the beef one doesn't specifyother than the 1 to 1 1/2 cups, so I always go toward the cup side. The chicken one says 5 servings, so that also works out to a little more than a cup a serving. Once that chicken cooks up and shreds for eating, that is a lot to eat.
I try to stick right around a cup with everything so I may actually be recording higher calories than I am eating at times, but I know I am getting enough for the day. And then when I do eat a little more, I know I am not going over.0 -
Hey ladies,
What a blustery rainy day here. It started out with sunshine, but by lunch time it was cold & rainy. Spent the entire day taking my mom shopping for clothing. To say that my mom is a handful in public is an understatement. What that typically means for me is complete exhaustion and then my body craves comfort calories. Or, I'm wound tighter than a screw with frustration, which would equal sugar to knock me into sedation.
Faced with lunch at the mall food court, I had a salad with fat free dressing. When I got home I had a mug of tea and just chilled a few minutes. Greg is working late tonight, so cereal sounded like terrific dinner option.
I'm glad I am doing better dealing with the stress-food connection. But, there is a part of me that is fearful that taking care of my mom could become a full time responsibility in the future. I know grace comes when you need it and not before, so stressing about something future or that may never happen is the answer to that fearful thought.
Sounds like lots of stuff going on for everyone. Keep fitting in time for yourself!
Happy weigh in,
Lori0 -
Hello all!! It is a very cold and blistery evening tonight. It has been a rough week. I will try to sum it up in the end here.
Denise thank you for the recipes. I am always trying to find new dinners because it seems like we pretty much eat the same old stuff. I am going to make the chicken pot pie next week in the crock. Hope your grandaughter won their last game and great job thinking ahead before you head out to your meeting.
Marianne Take care of yourself!! This site wouldn't be the same without you and I am soooo happy you decided to keep with the weigh-ins (although not so happy to be giving you mine this week):grumble:
Red When are you coming to Massillon. Let me know, maybe we can meet up. Even take a trek around Sippo park. You do remember next week is Massillon/Mckinley week right?
Elizabeth Walks are good. It definately does the body good in more ways than one. I love to walk, just don't do it often enough.
Karen Remember to take care of yourself too. Shakin your bacon made me hungry for BL (no T's for me, can't stand them. Are yous still working out with the WII
Lori I am going to try my hand at yoga. My work has Yoga classes once a week. Hopefully that is enough time to reap the benefits. Truly without your enthusiasm about it, I probably wouldnt even do it. I really didn't have a good experience with it about 15 yrs or so ago. My thoughts are with you and your mom. I am going through a physical change with mine recently and would be crushed if I had to deal with a mental one too.
This may be a little more info than some of you want to hear but I need to try and stay on track through this crap. My mom ended up in the ER early Tuesday morning and had to have emergency surgery on Wednesday. She has a bowel obstruction as near as they can figure out. All her insides were pushed up to her chest because of all the pressure in her intestines and colon being backed up. The did surgery to try and relieve some pressure on her insides and now she has colonostomy bag. A colonostomy bag..WTH...isn't that for people that are really sick. She has been healthy as a horse as far back as I can remember and she has never even spent a day in the hospital except when my brother and I was born I hate seeing her like this and she is VERY down. She has been working full-time as barmaid for over 40 years. She is even worried she may not be able to go back to work. I don't know what to say. The doctors aren't even sure what is going on but keep telling her this is one of the worse cases they seen and she should have been in the hospital 3 weeks ago....that sure doesn't help her attitude any. She is so very independent and they are telling her she is going to need a caregiver if she goes home which may be tuesday at the earliest.
They also see a tumor blocking her large intestine and are going to go back in next thurs or fri and try to remove it, they are not sure exactly what it is. Thank god my dad is able to be there for her, but she is so down about the whole situation. I work in the medical field and I know how a positive attitude helps the healing process. This sucks big time. Her recreation consist of working and playing Bingo. She doesn't read, watch much tv, play on the computer, facebook, sew, knit, or any of those things that could help her pass the time more quickly. So basically she just has all day to lay there and think about this situation.I think i am the youngest of the group, so I know you all might have some advice about reaching/helping/keeping a positive attitude with your parents when they are ill.
On a more positive note...I signed up for our gym at work for 10 bucks a month. I normally don't work until late afternoon, so I am hoping to get at least 30 minutes of exercise in on minimum 4 days a week before I head to my job (which I love). I am also going to try my hand at Yoga (thanks Lori!!). So that is one day out of the way  I think my membership will actually start next Weds. Heres to trying to stay on track and meet these new challenges in more ways than one. :drinker: (that's water...lots and lots of water)0 -
Good Morning. Wow, lots of stuff going on with alot of us,Dodie, I am so sorry for your mom,she must have been in pain, how sad. Let's just pray it all works out and she is back to healthy soon. Is she right there in Massillon? I hope to get there soon, before the weather takes a big turn for the worse. It's great your job offers a gym for it's employees, good for you. Keep your chin up. Evelyn, I don't even know what to say to you, there are just no words. Just an aweful chain of events, you are all in my prayers. Good luck to everyone today, Friday comes around fast, lol. I may not be on as much for the next couple days. I have alot on my plate(not literally, lol) and just won't be around the computer alot. Ok, gonna go weigh in:ohwell:0
-
Crappppp! 231.8
Hoping you all had more success!
I need to get back on track, gonna be late, best wishes! TGIF!0 -
@Dodie...Prayers for you, your dad, and especially for your mom. It is no fun to watch a parent in pain, be it physical, mental or emotional. Hopefully, with the love and support of family, your mom will bounce back and do the best she can with the cards she has been dealt. Thank goodness the doctors found it when they did before it got even worse. I know of at least one woman in my town who had a colostomy at a very young age (well, she is younger than me..probably late 30s or so) and has a bag and has returned to her job and life quite sucessfully (and her job is fairly physical..she cleans institutional buildings) and no one would ever know she has a bag unless she told them. Hopefully, your mom has a great team of doctors and medical support that can provide her with all the information she needs to carry on......0
-
Sorry to hear about all the parent problems. I always have them with my mom, so I understand. Stay strong because as we get older we are the ones that are going to have to handle them. I wish you guys all the best, my prayers and thoughts are with you!
Weigh-in day!! Nope, I am not jumping for joy.:explode: I stayed the same this week. Very disappointing, but since my scale has been up all week, I guess I can't complain that it fell back to where it was a week ago.
I guess since it is Friday we all will be headed in different directions again. I don't have a whole lot planned, but ya never know in my life what is going to change my plans real fast. :grumble: Everyone good luck today with the weigh-in. Have a great weekend if I don't see ya around for a couple days.
Denise0 -
I guess since it is Friday we all will be headed in different directions again. Denise
Right now, I am hoping to hit Lowes, Wal-Mart, and Pet Supplies Plus this weekend. That is the extent of my heading in a different direction!! No exciting plans here, but then again, there rarely are. If I can get to Lowes, I might just get this shower wall fixed. Oh to be 3 tiles short!!
If I play my cards right, next Friday I can call myself "overweight" as opposed to obese. Last night, my husband told me that I was no longer snoring or showing signs of apnea when I sleep. Other health related benefits of losing weight I have enjoyed....better bladder control, very infrequent (as opposed to everyday) acid reflux, and no more outbreaks of intertrigo. Apparently, my high blood pressure is not related to weight, as that has shown little sign of improvement. I guess I am going to have to break down and go to the doctor on that one. It is so easy to put stuff off when you dont have health insurance. Easy, but I know not wise.
Oh yeah, Sunday I get to face the people at the Church who chose not to offer me the position of custodian there. There is a board meeting which I must attend as I am still the Church Treasurer, and which I will continue to be unless they axe me. Right now I feel okay about going, but we will see how I feel come Sunday morning.
Hope everyone is satisfied with their weigh-ins today. Have a great weekend, all! :flowerforyou: Stay warm!
Peace, Elizabeth0 -
And, someone needs to start a new board...we are rapidly heading toward page 20, the limit!!!0

Should we wait for MFP to start us a new page? I like it when MFP moves a thread because they include the link to the previous thread.
Just a thought.0 -

Congratualtions to everyone for staying committed, planning and logging! Great job everyone!
Once Kim sends her weight I will repost.
Drum roll please.....

Congrats to everyone for sticking to it this week...
I know how hard it is to stay on track..Sometimes you just want to just say **** it and dig into that 1/2 gallon of chocolate ice cream..(for me anyway) Sometimes it is potato salad or mac n cheese..lol. I am amazed how I can just have a spoonful or a couple bites of something, that I use to pig out on. And I think I owe it all to MFP and all my Bella Sistas, because you are always on my mind whenever I start to eat anything.
So I want to say a big THANKS to all of you..
I don't have a lot of plans for the weekend. My sister is still here and she of course is in charge of what I am doing this weekend. Dinner with the family at Golden Corral on Saturday.. I don't know if you guys have them around you, but they are a huge buffet restaurant. you can even get made to order steaks. I usually do pretty good sticking to salad and veggies chicken or fish, but the dessert bar is killer.. They have bread pudding, which I love and I like to put ice cream on top of it.. yummm
My BIL has to eat there every time they come down..
The weather has been a bit chilly down here, 50's in am and high's about 70, so I had to break out the jeans.. The pair I have on today keep getting bigger and bigger as the day goes on.. Hopefully I won't be able to wear them much sooner...
Well gotta get some things caught up here at work, so I can go home.
Hope everyone has a great weekend..
Karen0 -
My only direction is straight to the grocery store. Empty cupboards indicated I've put it off long enough!!! Egads.0

GOLDEN CORRAL!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA Oh to hear those words! I blame my husband and Golden Corral for me gaining the 80 lbs back that I lost before I met him. He would live there if he could. When we lived in FL, it was at least once a week or more. Now that we live in OH, the closest one is about 40 miles away. Thank Goodness!!! We have a Ryan's, which is also a buffet. He likes that one but I don't so I tell him no a lot! It isn't near as good as Golden Corral so he doesn't get too bent out of shape. Good Luck and eat just one thing in honor of me!
Those jeans need some altering. I know how to do it, I just did two pair of my own. Makes it easier than buying new ones. Especially for someone in FL that doesn't need them very often. Although you are further North than I was, you probably need them more. Congratulations on the jeans!! Keep up the good work.
Marianne, have fun at the grocery store. Takes me forever anymore. I read all the labels and drive Ken nuts. :blushing:
Great job today ladies with the weigh-ins. We may not have all lost weight, but we are still here giving it our best shot...that is a step in the right direction.0 -
