I had a friend who lived in York, but passed away a few years ago, he was a Minister, transferred to there from here, I just thought of that, random thought!!! Did you have fun shopping? Do I dare say, was it holiday shopping?? Ugh, can't even think about the holidays, where did summer go? I say that every year. Evelyn, where are you????

    Biden in York Update --
My Dad, indeed, went to see the Vice President's arrival to a whopping crowd of 40-50 people. Dad said there were more York City Police and other security than spectators. The school is not in a great section of town and there isn't much parking.
Wow! All I can say is Wow!
Marianne - hope the cold symptoms clear up quickly.

Back from shopping, lunch at TGI Fridays, and now ready to wash the floors. Have class later tonight.

    See ya,
    Lori
You know me...bound and determined!!!! Bought more OTC meds today!

Wad cha buy me shopping??? I could use another dress for the Cancun trip!

Here are the things I know today:

    Today is better than yesterday!

While sometimes I want to run and hide, without the sistas I would've bought chocolate covered peanuts today! I thank you for that!

Sometimes one has to put stuff out to the universe to move forward. I thank you for that!

Before I make poor food choices; I think of this group! I thank you for that!

I thank each of you for for being a part of this commitment. And most of all, I've learned something from every one of you every day! I just don't always know it at the time.

I raise my glass to you :drinker: I hope someday we will all be sitting around a table somewhere clanking our glasses toasting each and every success accomplished.

BTW..I want to continue posting the weighins :embarassed:

    Thank you!

I know what kickboxing is, what is the other?

Plyometrics is when you propel your own body weight. Squat and then jump as high as you can, but land softly. Lunge squat and then jump to switch sides. It doesn't take a lot of repetitions to get to fatigue. Fun stuff in a sick Jillian Michaels sort of way.
Wad cha buy me shopping??? I could use another dress for the Cancun trip!

Darn, I was at the Deb Shop (teenage trendy store -- think short hemlines) where my friend was returning a homecoming dress. I completely forgot about Cancun. Where does the mind go????? 34y5mvr.gif

Fortunately, holiday shopping isn't a big time consumer here....yet. No grandchildren. Everyone stays here from Christmas to New Year's and that's my big time consumer. I am cooking for everyone for an entire week. Each year I try to simplify more. I'm determined to keep everything friendly for my new lifestyle.

I'm done for the night ladies. Have a great evening.
    Lori

P.S. Karen - I keep forgetting to ask if your son heard anything about the potential new position?

Marianne, so glad you are going to stick around. It just wouldn't be the same with out you.

Lori, my son found out that there were 30 other applicants applying for the position and they were all employees of the school system trying to do the same thing he was. So it is a very slight chance of him getting the job. He has only been working there a little over a year. I am sure there are others who have been there longer.. He did say the person interviewing him was flirting with him..lol

I think he might look elsewhere for work.. He just can't make it on $270 a week. The benefits are good, but benefits don't pay the bills. He so wants to get his own place and be on his own.. Hopefully something will come his way soon.

Update on the WII fitness... My arms are so sore. I have been doing the WII FIT PLUS,, boxing and kung fu..A lot of upper body.Couldn't believe how much I am feeling it after 2 nights..
You can definitely make it a workout.

Hope everyone has a good night..

Karen~Congrats on the Wii workout. I so need something to build muscle and strenght(SP???) in my arms and shoulders. I can't spell the darn word I am trying to use, use your imagination as to me spelling it right. LOL

smiley-signs004.gifOK, I have been asked about my crock pot cook book...it is called The Fix-it-and-forget-it cookbook. It comes in a lot of various ones for the crock pot, but Ken is Diabetic so I have the Diabetic version. It has a lot of very easy to use and low in calorie recipes. I am not one to use a lot of fancy stuff when cooking so this fits me very well. I got it at an Amish store, but I have found them in Borders and Barnes & Nobles. I hope that helps.

I am headed off to bed now...everyone have a great evening. See ya all tomorrow!

    Good Morning,

Women's Health Magazine features daily menus from the Abs Diet. Free workout, both video and printable.
    http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/free-abs-diet-workout-and-meal-plan

Free email newsletter is worth it. I've gotten the "eat this not that" newsletter. Interesting info to have in mind when you need to get something on the run.

    Enjoy,

Plyometrics sounds like cruel and unusual punishment for this fat old lady. Nope, I won't be trying that anytime soon. My "Plank" in Yoga is so modified it needs a new name. And there is another one Jillian does that is pure torture and I don't even attempt it. You go into some pose with both hands and feet on the floor and then you jump both feet out behind you and then jump them back in...NO WAY! this body does no jumping. Not only can't my arms handle it, but my floor would need to be replaced.

I have a new challenge for all of you with cookbooks...especially the fix-it -and-forget-it cookbook. Make one recipe and then post it on here. I love my crock pot and I even just had to buy a new 4-quart one. I broke the lid on my old one and you can't buy just a replacement lid. I have 3 different sizes and I use them all. So easy to use and if you use crock pot liners, the clean up is super fast. Now, this recipe has to be something we would eat in our normal daily meals and can't use ingrediants that no one has in the house or are willing to buy. No fancy crap..simple everyday meal.

I am off to get this body moving. Everyone have a great day... and try something new today...Anything, just do it!

    Denise,

No wild animals in your backyard? Zanesville, OH hit the news with wild animals loose from a private exotic animal sanctuary. It looked like Zanesville is in the southern portion of the state.

It puts a whole new perspective on "Be careful; it's a jungle out there." orjnfq.gif

OK, I'm done stalling. I'm off to try 30 Day Shred with our friend Jillian.

    Lori,

Zanesville can't get much further away from me...Dodie would be closer. If you look at a map of Ohio, look to the north by Lake Erie. Spot Toledo to the West, Cleveland to the East and then go directly in half..That is where I am at. Sandusky. 60 miles to either big city from me. I do have one wild animal..or at least he thinks he is.

You have fun with your 30 day shred. I am tearing rooms apart today. Jillian will have to wait awhile for me.

I live about 80 miles east of Zanesville, and this morning as I was walking I was trying to determine how far a lion or a bear could roam in 12+ hours!!

Fortunately, I only encountered a squirrel, and it seemed harmless. But I gave it a wide berth just to be on the safe side!!

Elizabeth - smart maneuvering. You never know with squirrels; they can go psycho at a moment's notice.

I think Marianne had the recipe. It wasn't me. I will go through and find a good one...maybe a dessert. ok, maybe not. :noway:

Just saw on the news there are only 2 animals left on the loose..a monkey and a wolf. Both considered dangerous. It is a shame that they had to kill all of the ones they killed but better to be safe than sorry I guess.

Time to go start my dinner. Later Sistas!

I have a psycho squirrel story.. My mom and I use to eat lunch behind this Deli on a lake under trees, in the spring or fall of course.
There were ducks, squirrels, and birds. Of course they were all begging for food. They were very use to people eating there. The squirrels actually would climb up on the picnic table and then lunge at us and try to take our sandwich. I thought is was funny.. My mom is deathly afraid of mice or rats and to her the squirrel was a rat with a furry tail. She kept screaming and running from the table. Needless to say I don't think we have been back there to eat since...
So.. you never know about those squirrels..... lol

I don't have the cook book, but I do have a crock pot.. I don't do much cooking anymore, but I will see what I can do...
    woops... time to go home..

    talk later

    Karen

Karen, you dont want to forget the going home part!! Great squirrel story!!! We have a couple living in our front yard tree, and love them. But they arent quite as human-friendly as those you and your mom encountered!!

Not a crockpot meal, but quick, easy & tasty.

    Grilled Oregano Chicken

6 small boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (about 2 ¼ lb.)
1 cup coarsely chopped fresh oregano leaves, I used 2 Tblsp. Dried
    ½ cup balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
    2 tsp. ground black pepper
    ¾ tsp. salt

Pound chicken ¾” thickness. Whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over chicken in a shallow dish. Turn chicken so both sides are coated with marinate. Cover and chill for 2 hours. Remove chicken from marinate and grill until chicken reaches internal temperature 165 F.

Serve with brown rice made with chicken stock, chopped onion & thawed/drained chopped spinach.

  • Good Evening Bellas!

I had the best day I have had in a long time. I got up, went for a walk, mowed some yard, raked some leaves, planted a mum, walked the dogs, retiled the shower wall (only about 40 tiles and I havent quite finished yet but almost!), ate well, and watched Harry's Law. That's pretty good for me. Here I have been boo-hooing to myself about not having time to exercise and I realized that twice each day, I was driving a half mile to feed a cat and check on property when I could have been walking and getting at least some exercise in. So, I did. I would have done it again this evening but the rains came. I have got to remember how good that made me feel this morning as tomorrow morning I probably wont be able to do it as I have a cat with an appointment at the vet. I also have a beef stew to get into the crock pot. All this crock pot talk made me decide to do something with mine. I so wish I could do some chicken in it, but I have probably mentioned that my husband wont eat chicken. Period. Makes healthy meal planning more difficult. But if any of you offer up any delicious crock pot recipes that dont involve poultry, I'm game!!

Sleep well all. I am hitting the sack early for me. Well, I will if I can get up the gumption to take the garbage out in the rain.

    Peace out, Elizabeth
