Well Bellas, just a quick comment before we head up to the lake. I was going back through my food diaries and I went back 5 weeks to the date and I made the comment in my edit food notes that mfp gave me after I complete this entry and it said I would weigh 230.8 in 5 weeks. I am at 231 this week. Even with the several days that I went over by a few hundred calories, I decided to get back on and tried to stay on track. It is a whole new way of thinking, that's for sure. But it is working. I guess my point is we all have bad days or several of them, but if we can dig deep and stay true to ourselves eventually we will see results.

Here's to staying on track!! Dodie

I count that as 230.8 It's amazing how close MFP estimates are!

    Great work Dodie!

Lori - Do you see me standing, applauding and whistling? Bravo! Very well stated.

All-in-all, it's about the internal dialog, recognizing the mirror analogy and retraining the brain's thought process.

Lori - the information you shared is very valuable! And truely, if we want to lose weight, we have to dig deep and change what got us here in the first place....that is....besides eating.

Unfortunately I am here. No offense to you, but we had plans to go to a friends house for a steer roast. This has been planned for a couple months now. A week or so ago, they told Ken he had to work from home today to do some testing for work. It was only supposed to take a couple hours this morning. Well, he started at 10 this morning and it is now 6:30 PM and he is no where near done. Our steer roast started almost 3 hours ago and is an hour away. Guess who just ordered pizza to be delivered? And that isn't even the good part. Now I have a deep dish apple pie and 24 red velvet cupcakes sitting in my house with only 2 people to eat it all. Each one of those little cupcakes is 100 calories. That is why I bought them, so I could have dessert and not feel left out. One cupcake was going to be my limit. Ken can't eat them so I guess now my limit is 24. I think I will freeze some of them..or at the rate I am going tonight, I may eat all the darn things and get it over with!!

Can you say frustrated?? Hope everyone is having a fantastic evening for me!

I think together the Sistas make a hell of an awesome team. That is applause worthy. It's kind of cool how none of us really go out into our daily lives without the support of one another. Eventually, we will make the road trip we tease about. It's going to be pretty fantastic. You don't know how much I wish we could pull off celebrating with you at Sara's wedding.

When we do.... Denise, you bring those red velvet cupcakes!

    Talk to you soon,

OOPS! I already ate some...LOL But I didn't go over my calories for today either. I knew one serving was 3 cupcakes so I made sure I didn't eat too much pizza...it was a small pizza too. What a cheat day I have had and still managed to stay under. I think by George I am figuring this out. I guess I could have gone for more healthy food, but what the heck..I am ticked off. 7:15 and he is still working!!

GET YOUR HANDS OFF THE CUPCAKES! FREEZE! the cupcakes, that is. And here I have been sitting here this evening thinking how much fun a steer roast would be (you really roast a steer?), wondering how you were doing there, and you're stuck at home. So sorry to hear that, Denise. You keep that new-found social butterfly attitude and be prepared to wow the crowd at the next outing.

I received notice today that I am to report on the 25th for jury selection for the 5-6 week tobacco mass litigation suit. Bleh. No wonder I ate two pitas for dinner (still not over on cals either, but didnt need two). I am still confident I can get out of it. I asked my husband if he thought he could stay home by himself for that long and he admitted he could not. He also has two doctor appts scheduled during that time period, and he hasnt driven himself any place in forever. The sad thing is that I have always wanted to serve on a jury, but have never had the opportunity. Not to mention the $1500+ I could pick up doing it. Would make for a nice Christmas!

9:15 PM and he is still working. And yes from what I hear they do roast a steer. I have never been to one either, so I was looking forward to it. I even had made sure I had enough calories tonight so I could eat a nice meal, not overindulge and still have a good time. Unfortunately, I ate pizza and had enough room for 3 little cupcakes. I should have eaten a bigger lunch and had the fruit I wanted this afternoon instead of saving calories. Oh well, tomorrow I can start over.

Sorry to hear about your jury duty. The money would be nice, but not at the expense of having your husband alone for that length of time. Maybe something else will work out for you. I personally have never had to sit on a jury. I was called once but they didn't like my answers to their questions and got rid of me. It wasn't a case I wanted to sit on anyway. Had to do with underage kids having sex. Kind of a they were both underage, but he got blamed because she was a girl kind of deal. They asked me something like if I thought a 13 year old girl was mature enough to know what she was doing to say it was consentual. I said yep..they didn't like that. I was gone. Oh well, I didn't want to be there anyway. Besides, I have too many law enforcement people in my family. They don't like that either.

Anyway, you do your best to do what you have to do for you and your husband. Things will work out. Me, I am going to sit here, bored out of my mind and then go to bed, whether Ken is done working or not. What a waste of a perfectly good Saturday.

    Denise

I don think it was the popcorn, but who knows? Some of the swelling has subsided. I took a couple of aspirin so we shall see what happens next. I never have allergic reactions to anything, but I guess there is always a first time for everything. I did some cleaning today, and was amazed at the number of spiders I found. Everyone else has stink bugs, and I have spiders! Maybe one bit me, I really dont know. If the swelling isnt gone by morning, I will have to figure out what to do next. Thanks for the concern and advice!
    How is the swelling today?
Elizabeth - did the swelling go down? How was your luncheon?

    Good Morning,

I have been up since 3:00 a.m. My oldest daughter and son-in-law left for their cruise and hubby took them to the airport. I got up to fix breakfast for everyone and take care of the dogs (our own and watching their ****zu - Bella). Decided to just stay up. We're getting ready to leave for church. I teach Sunday school this morning.

Dodie - Hope the weather and time at the lake this weekend is refreshing.

Peggy - Seems like forever since you left  Good luck closing up for the season. See you back here soon. I just bought myself an ipod touch, but haven't tried logging from there yet. Computer is so much easier.

Marianne - How was suit shopping?

Denise - Any possibility you get to do something fun today to make up for event you missed yesterday? Hope so!

Elizabeth - sorry to hear jury duty has become a missed opportunity. Praying a new opportunity presents itself, bigger and better than the one that has seemed to pass by. No more popcorn/cheek incidents?

Kim - Hope you & hubby had a nice anniversary celebration  & much progress gardening.

Not sure what I am doing after church. May be ready for a nap at that point.

    Have a great morning, sistas!

Nope, For one it is raining here today. But the real reason...guess who has to work today. Ken worked til after 9 last night. Things still weren't completely back up the way they needed to be. Who knows what is going to happen this morning. Then at 4 this afternoon he has some other testing to do. Nope, my weekend is pretty well shot. And since Ken is salary he doesn't even get paid to do all this testing. I even get to plan for more...2 weeks from now, this program actually goes live and he has to work that Saturday to test it again and make sure all goes well. What a mess :( Can you tell just how happy I am this morning?

I hope someone had a great weekend, just so I can enjoy it with them. I want details!!

  • Who has stinkbugs? I kept hearing about stinkbug problems, and one day a couple of weeks ago, I was at True Value and this guy was buying every sort of pesticide known to man (and woman) and swearing he was going to blow up his house if he wasnt able to get rid of the little devils. The local newspaper has had several articles about stinkbug infestations. I hadnt seen any in my house, and had hoped I was spared.

Well, in the last couple of days, I have found 4 in my house, and last night before I went to bed, I picked up a skirt lying on my dresser. As I went to put it on (just trying to see if it would fit yet) a big ol' stinkbug fell out. So when I finally went to bed, I felt them crawling all over me for half the night. Of course, there werent really any in my bed, just me and my imagination (and my husband, but he doesnt count!) but I couldnt help but lie there and reach down under the covers brushing my legs off every few minutes. Ugh. Gonna clean the bedroom today and hope I dont see any more.

Today, the swelling in my face is completely gone. There was still some swelling yesterday, and some tenderness. I ate popcorn again last night to see if I could re-enact the event, but alas, no results. I looked at the salivary gland article (thanks!) but I just dont know if that had anything to do with it. Literally, my face went from not swollen at all, to swollen like crazy, in just a matter of minutes. I thought my face was going to explode it pufffed up so fast. Maybe a stink bug bit me! But all is well today.

After 3 weeks of trying to find a friend (ha ha like I have those) to help me move a refrigerator, I might have finally found success. So now I get to go clean out ours so I can get the new used one. Who knows what I am likely to find. Whatever it is, I am sure it will be petrified!!

    Later ladies.......Elizabeth

Lori, I think after your week and early rising, you might just deserve that nap! Curl up with a good book under the blankets and let your eyes rest!!

I don't know what a stinkbug is, but I don't hink I want one hanging around me either. I wouldn't have slept at all until I ripped the bedroom and especially my bed apart. I get the creeps just thinking about it. Good Luck Elizabeth, and I sure hope you don't find anymore!!

I have found something though...a place to get rid of those red velvet cupcakes. I learned this morning that my granddaughter is bowling in a city tournament today. I am going to take all and I mean ALL of them to the bowling alley. I ended up having 3 (a single serving) last night and I know I will be hitting them up here soon if I don't get them out of my house. She started at 11, so I am headed there very soon. Ken is still working this morning and I already told him I am not sitting around this house again all day doing nothing while he works. I am headed to the alley, then to walk at the mall. I want to look for some new winter slippers. My feet are freezing, but I plan on walking the mall first then shopping.

    Everyone have a great day.

Oh my gosh! I just read where some people in WV are finding THOUSANDS in their homes! Egads! And I also found out that stinkbug is actually two words....stink bug. I remember as a kid they really do stink if you squish them or scare them. I better comb my hair so I dont do the latter.....

Good going on the cupcakes. Your daughter and her team surely need to carbo-load!! Enjoy the mall, and I know what you mean about cold feet!!

    Denise,

I just want to thank you for telling us about the red velvet cupcakes last night, because it helped me with muffins this morning. I got up early and got breakfast out for daughter, son-in-law and hubby so they could drive to the airport. As soon as they got a muffin on their plate, I flipped that lid shut and deposited them quickly into the back of the freezer. Otherwise, I would have had time for one and then another. It was better to skip the one and not have my taste buds on high alert for more sugar. I'm sure your granddaughter and friends will love your generosity! Good luck finding slippers ..... and terrific getting the walk in at the mall.

I'm fading fast hahahahahaha! Hope you find a cure for the stink bugs. We have minimal bugs here. I visited a friend that lives by the Susquehanna river and they are loaded with them. Her husband said that they populate in wooded or grassy areas. He was catching them and putting them in a mason jar that had whiskey in it. He said it kills them without emitted their odor. I'm not sure if that is true. He was scooping them up in his hand. I'd rather persuade the little buggers to walk in on their own.

Greg and I caught up on a new show we recorded, Person of Interest. It was entertaining.

OK, my eyelids are getting heavy. Going to take a break. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Susquehanna river .. I don't like that river. It messed up our 9/11 plans big time. And it can keep those bugs too.

Cupcakes were delivered to the bowling alley and I didn't touch any of them today. I am proud of myself. Boy, you know I wanted one bad too!!! We then went to walk a little at the mall. I ened up waiting for Ken to get done working so he went with me. It was as productive for walking as I had hoped. I did manage to find a new 4 qt oval crock pot on sale half off and then I found me Dearfoam slippers half off too. I was super excited. I like whole slippers, not just the ones that cover your toes. Those kind always fall off my feet and I need my little toes and feet nice and warm. Whole dearfoams can usually only be found around here from about now until Christmas time. After that forget it. I have needed them for about 6 months now and was starting to have withdrawal. I need my slippers. I always buy 2 pair at a time, today I only bought one. I will get another pair the day after Thanksgiving, then they really are on sale.

Marianne, I am glad you got the suit shopping done and no security was needed to be called. Domestic problems in men's departments can be pretty bad, I have seen them. I have been part of them...Oops, I didn't say that, did I?

Lori, you go get your nap in. You deserve it. We watch Person if Interest also. Sometimes it goes over my head, but it is usally because I am playing on the laptop with MFP and not really paying attention to the show. But I will warn you..it will be cancelled. You ask why I say that...because everytime Ken and I start to watch a new show they cancel it and keep the old crap. So if it gets cancelled you can blame us.

Red, I hope you have survived this nasty weather week camping. At least the camper is all ready for the winter. Maybe now you can rake some more leaves at home...Just kidding. Maybe now you can relax a bit.

Elizabeth, stay away from stink bugs and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I am headed out to see what kind of trouble I can get into.
    Take care everyone!

Oh Kim, so sorry to hear that. I'm sure you were and are a great help to her during this difficult time. My thoughts are with you both. :flowerforyou:

One of my sons grandfathers, this one is on his step moms side, passed yesterday afternoon after a brief battle with cancer. He's in a better place but was a very loving and gentle man, such a great mentor to all... he will be missed so.

So many sad times mixed in with the good... guess that is the cycle of life but not always easy.
  • Dear Kim,

I, too, am so sorry to hear about your husband's friend. She is lucky to have you. Take care of yourself as best you can.

Good Morning Everyone, wow, have I missed you guys!!! I was so happy to be home yesterday evening, camp was like torture, my poor husband, I really was a ***** for 5 days,I have to admit!!!! It poured for 4 days, never got above 48 degrees,
we raked leaves and cleaned up freaking nuts till I wanted to cry:cry: Oh well, alll over, it's all good now. kim, so sorry about your loss, hope your friend is doing as well as can be expected, how sad. Did he have a heart attack? she's lucky to have you. Elizabeth, I know what stink bugs are, we have been fighting them for 2 summers, nasty little things!!!! Lori, how are you feeling? Was reading and trying to catch up this morning, but lots of reading!!!!!lol Marianne, love the picture of you, beautiful. You and your hubby are very attractive, nice match. So,a meeting in Massillon, Dodie?? I have to go there soon to take care of my parents graves, I do that about every 3 months.
I don't even know how I did in the eating department this past week, I was not real concerned about food, what a strange sensation!!!:indifferent: We were either cleaning up the camp, or I was laying around with heating pads on my body!!!! Conrats. on all the weigh ins, you guys are awesome. Well, I have lots of laundry to do, so I had better get at it. Talk to you later:heart:

Peggi, Great to see you back safe, sound and warm. Camping in the rain or cold is not a fun thing to do. I have done it myself. But at least you have it done now and can put it out of your mind for a few months.

Today is Monday, aren't you all glad I told you? You would never have guessed that on your own. Anyway, it is Monday, a new work week for most of you and another long boring week for me at home. I need a kick in the butt today. I didn't do anything all weekend, except sit around, read my kindle, eat whatever the hubby wanted and whenever the hubby said it was time to eat. Now I am paying for it. I feel miserable today. I got on the scale this morning and I am up a darn lb. Doesn't seem like much, but it puts me back into the 210s that I so wanted to leave behind. I will be honest with you guys. This is getting harder. It is coming into the time of year I dread. Cold dark days. Once it gets cold out, I rarely leave the house and I barely move out of my recliner. I guess you could say I go into hibernation for 6 months. Plus, I eat my way through my boredom. I need something to get me motivated. Even the thought of Onederland isn't cutting it right now. What can I do to get myself recommitted to this? And get me moving? HELP!!
