7/17 133.0 SEVEN YEARS AGO TODAY I arrived on this platform and started keto/LCHF. It’s been so an interesting ride. For the first time since we moved to Las Vegas our power was out for an hour last night. Our daughter insisted that we come to their house for the night because she had a/c and we didn’t. As we packed an overnight bag the power came on. All is well and all of the flashlights have new batteries.😁
7/18 133.0 Last night was Bingo. DD#2 was experiencing chest pain and since cardiologist told her last week that he’s fairly certain she’s had 2 heart attacks she was panicky and spent the whole day at the ER getting tests only to be sent home at 8:30pm with nothing found. Having experienced this myself many years ago, I suspect any chest pain no matter how small caused a panic attack. She has a stress test a week from tomorrow. In the meantime, her knee surgery which was supposed to be this past Monday is on hold. She wanted to get it done before school starts on August eighth.
    7/19 132.5
7/20 131.5 I’m keeping my total carbs super low and if I do want something extra I make it protein (and fat) - usually some cheese.
7/21 132.0 Really salty high protein chips last night. (Collecting 24 hr urine) Sorry if this is too much info but this is my only β€œdiary”

Thank you for logging in twice yesterday… The willingness to try something new addressing the deep desire to change directions… We can all learn from your persistence. When you know, you know… The TIME for change, and doing something different for a jumpstart. Perhaps a new daily habit. πŸ’ͺ🏻

@chapter_3 nice of you to comment. <3 It is so interesting how, for me, it is a momentum issue. Once I get things moving the right way, it tends to get easier. When stumbling occurs for long enough, it is so so hard to turn it back around.

I really have trouble understanding my logic, as I fully, clearly know the choices/actions I am taking (bad or good) and when the bad are happening, it is not an "oops". I have no interest in overriding it. I cannot tell you how many times in the last two months I have walked into the grocery store and have thought "this time, no ice cream'. Then, I decide to "just take a look". I will even look and walk past, just to double back again, and end up buying two pints of ice cream. They are eaten in less than 24 hours and sometimes a couple hours from getting home.

In contrast, when i am moving the right way, I can walk past literally anything and not even blink, and that action feels positive and empowering.

I would love to understand this all better so that I solely remain in the positive state.

This morning before DD and DGS woke up I was really thinking about what has been going on this year in my β€œdiet” life and plan. I really realized how much my renovations have stood in the way of my old habits. I have had a lot of renovations in the past couple of years but they always stop before Thanksgiving and the break lasts through January (so I can undecorate Christmas). I actually did better during that down time last year even with the holidays than I have done since (during the renos). I realized that I am just not cooking like I did before. Much more processed food in my diet. Much more sodium. I usually skip breakfast for IF. Lunch has mainly been a quick sandwich (on low carb bread with fresh avocado instead of mayo), dinner is usually something frozen or very processed and quick. While it often technically fits into my macros I know that it is standing in the way. Most of you who know me know that I am not a veggie eater or a fruit eater as I do have some eating disorders in regards to those. But honestly, I’m just too drained by the time the crew leaves every day to cook what I can eat. And it’s difficult to cook for one to begin with. There is also not much pleasure in sitting down and eating alone most of the time so dinner is just eaten to quickly satisfy my hunger. It is already challenging enough trying to watch my sugars (I’m diabetic), keep my meals heart-healthy (prior heart attack and stent), and to watch my calories and carbs. I just don’t have the answers because I still have months of renovations ahead of me. Weekends are tough to batch cook because of my DD and DGS being here. And I am often so busy already just trying to clean up the house after the men, catch up on laundry, do my shopping, make my visits to my friends/family because I can’t leave during the week etc. I run ragged on the weekends already and am often babysitting on top of it all. Sorry for another long post but any ideas are appreciated. If I find the time today, I may try to look for simple and easy recipes that won’t completely drain me. I made scrambled eggs the other day and it felt like I was cooking a 7 course meal for King Charles. It is so bad that I am even taking prenatal vitamins as advised by my doctor. I must say that I was dancing and exercising more often in the house in the years past, but now there is no room. I mean, my king size bed is still in the livingroom and my bedroom furniture is parked all over the house. I am seriously lacking space and most of the day I can’t leave for walks. I do get a little time on my exercise bike when I’m not too exhausted. Help, my friends! I don’t see that there are any answers but maybe someone out there will think of something I haven’t.

    07/19 -188.0- (Trend weight188.7)

07/20 -186.2- (Trend weight188.4) A nice little drop today which has made me wake up incredibly hungry. Today will likely be a battle, especially since my Foodie DD and DGS are here again. Yesterday she worked all day and then they were invited somewhere for dinner so that really helped me stick to my macros. Today I am not sure of their plans yet but with this hunger, I hope they will leave for the day so I will not have so much temptation. This is part of the β€œbackbone and not wishbone” that I was talking about the other day, I suppose. My macros have been consistently showing that I am way over on my sodium levels. Mainly because of cottage cheese (or other low carb cheeses). It also really hurts when I eat anything processed, like lunch meat for a sandwich or breakfast meat of any kind with my eggs. Of course, as a diabetic I have to watch my sugars too. When my sodium is a bit lower, my sugars tend to show higher grams. Gosh its tough to balance all the macros and the sodium and sugars too all while counting both calories and carbs. Its like a full time job! I have a few go-to meals that work wonderfully but if I overdo them I end up in a boredom binge to defy ever having to eat them again! The battle is ON today. 1. Stay away from daughter. 2. Prelog and stick to eating plan. 3. Get in some exercise. 4. Watch my macros. 5. Watch EVERY stat but especially the salt and sugar for health reasons. 6. Stay creative. Wednesday is my stress test for my heart. It’s been almost 2 yrs since my last one. Last time they ended up placing a stent in the heart. I want to stay extra good on my plan between now and Wednesday.

07/21 -188.0- (Trend weight188.5) Back up after a nice lunch out while shopping yesterday (out-of-town). Too many snacks last night on top of it all. Another quick-grab day that did not serve me.

@deepwoodslady I can totally understand your quandary. In your situation, I know I would be doing exactly the same. I know this because of what I see tripping me up as well.

I think we need to remember ourselves in all this. When the reno people are there, could you not go grab a peaceful walk? I am trying to get my walking back in place. For me, since I avoid the sun (I hate sunscreen), I need to get outside early. Early might not work for you as you likely have to receive the workers each day. Could you get away, if you told them your schedule?

Food. I need to go back and look at my old tracking and steal ideas from myself. What worked before and was easy? I know I've done it. I just can't remember. Right now, I have a bunch of eggs hard boiling for tomorrow. I am planning on driving to my parents empty "weekend" home for another day of clean out tomorrow (last time there were there is pre-COVID, and dad died last October). It was there second home and equally hoarded. Almost 3 hours from my primary home, but only an hour and a half from our condo in Maine. Sorry, got side tracked there....... Point is I trying to figure out how to eat healthy tomorrow, in a bag lunch, and trying to plan ahead so those things are easy access for tomorrow, but also the following days. Maybe go look in your trackers from a year or so ago?

When I am doing well, breakfast and lunch take no thought and are the same each day. Dinner is the only meal I invest much time in. Repeat your dinners. Example meatloaf with sides, but serve it two days in a row.

Lastly, back to the walking. Put together a really great playlist that leaves you energized, and you look forward to. My mood changes a lot when I walk with music.

Hope it all turns around soon!

@deepwoodslady Are any of the meal delivery services an option for you? Like Factor or Home Chef? They wouldn't require you to cook, but they are healthier than frozen and may be enough of a change to make dinner less a "must do" and more of a chance to relax and let go of some of the stress of the day.

You can usually pick the type of meals you want, or even the meals delivered for the whole week so you get what you need nutritionally. My family switched to Every Plate about 6 months ago and it changed everything for us, including saving money because I'm not buying a bunch of high-priced, over-processed, foods.

I'm not sure if this would help you or not, or if it's even a possibility, but it's an idea. I hope you find something that works for you.
