Feb 5th 2024- 200.4
I enjoy reading everyone’s posts with my morning coffee.
Rnd 268 End Weight 171.2
8/15- 170.6
8/16- 170.8
8/17- 172.8
8/18- 172.6
8/19- 171.2
8/20- 173.6
8/21- 171.4 I’m going to have to stick with healthy habits if I’m going to make any progress this round. Thankfully we have no social plans this weekend and I’m hoping to get some house projects done.
I am woefully behind on housework in general and paperwork but I’ve done a good job at not letting that stress me out too much this summer. That is a major accomplishment.
I’m ready to drink all of my water today!!!5 -
Male: 67
6’-2”
OSW: 237.8 (Nov. 2016.) I was actually at 250 in 2011 or so…
OGW: 199 (just to say I did)
Maintenance Range Goal: 200-205
Goals for this round:
1. Log my food daily; try to eat cleaner and work on portion control… really try this time.
2. Daily exercise; at least some movement…
3. Drink 90 oz. water.
4. Do the first three goals.
Round 268 Posts
This is my posting format….
Month/Day: Scale Reading - First thing today after bathroom visit before getting dressed.
/ Logged Food - yesterday; Exercise – yesterday; water - yesterday / Comment
Previous posts:
8/14: 218.6
/logged; no exercise; 66 oz water/
Bump up from yesterday, because yesterday was an anomaly. No exercise because I am still recovering from my back tweak. Gradual improvement, but still very sore. I was able to get out of the house at least.
On a very happy note, my nose biopsy came back CLEAR! Thank you Lord! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
8/15: 219.4
/not; not; 70 oz water/
Hard to move/exercise. Easy to eat. Came home from a meeting last night and shamelessly snacked like it didn’t matter. What that amounts to is trading yesterday’s stress for tomorrow’s strain.
8/16: 221.2 got too busy to log yesterday, but I did weigh.
8/17: 220.0
/logged; small steps ☹; 66 oz water/
My starting weight this round was really low, so I am just trying to get back there. But not trying hard enough. I am a pushover when it comes to temptation these days. I remember from other weight loss successes that I need to embrace the “hunger pang.” (Such a joke because I have never truly been hungry in my entire life. My first-world life.)
8/18: 221.2
/no logging; exercised; 66 oz water/
It has been a combination of my DW’s good cooking (using the produce of her garden mixed with all kinds of goodies) and eating out last night at a sort of higher end Mexican restaurant. I ordered a burrito, and it was so big I brought half home. I never do that; I always clean my plate like a good boy.
Needless to say I did not embrace the hunger feelings yesterday.
And today is our 45th anniversary! I am so blessed that she chose me! Where does the time go?
8/19: 221.8
/no logging; small exercise; little water/
Ok I think the anniversary celebration is over. Onward to the next 45 years.
8/13: 217.4
SW on day before this round.
8/20: 221.2
/logged; exercised; 90 oz water/
Listened to a podcast yesterday highlighting the dark side of “big food” and “big pharma,” in bed with our “big government.” (I don’t want my post to start a Facebook-like rant thread here on JGMTD, so I will not share the source. I am not promoting it.) Suffice to say I need to avoid processed food and medication to the degree it is possible. I, at the very least, want to be informed.
Easier said than done.

Round 269
August 14 - 23, 2024
62 year old female, 5’5”. I am married, semi-nomadic (we live in three states, Mass, Maine, Florida).
GW Maintaining between 124 - 126
Continuing to figure out maintaining, and to work on best nutrition and exercise.
History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a two grandsons. We have two parents, 87(mother), 85(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my mother’s care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

Day/Weight/Comment
8/14 – 137.6
8/15 – DNW forgot prior to having my coffee
8/16 – 136.2 Good morning all. I am here. Barely. So, I certainly handled the summer differently than I wished at the beginning. When I came home from Florida I was roughly 127, and I wanted to “clean off a pound of two” to fit the dress I bought to wear to a wedding tomorrow. Instead, you can see how it went. Anything I say about it is an excuse, and nothing more. Fortunately, I did find ONE dress in my closet that fits and looks nice (I had gotten rid of all my larger clothing). This dress was held onto as it was my summer “funeral” option. Well, tomorrow it is a LBD for a wedding. :P Right now, I am looking forward to getting the wedding behind me as I partially think that I have continued to sabotage once it was clear my original goal was not feasible. Maybe, once behind me, I will just concentrate on what is healthy for me.
OH! And I have another reason that I should get my **it together. DS, 37, is finally engaged!!! Just over a week ago!
8/17 – 137.8 Had a nicely planned day, including going out to eat with dinner planned and tracked. Got to the restaurant and there was a “special” that looked reasonable and unique, so I elected to deviate from my plan knowing it may be slightly higher calorie, but healthy. Our guest clearing wanted a particular appetizer, but would not order unless I agreed to share (high priced), so I agreed to ¼ of it, and my special. I had no alcohol as I was driving (still keeping post surgical hubby out of the drivers seat). App came, it was great. Totally worth the unexpected calories. My “special” entrée comes, swordfish was cooked dry, plain steamed rice, and steamed broccoli. I should have stuck with my Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. Anyhow, I ate it all despite the rice and broccoli not being worth even one calorie. DH gave me fries from his seafood platter, and I swiped all his tartar sauce. I came home dissatisfied and promptly when on a junk food binge. And the scale is aware. Got that wedding to attend today. Have to drive to the city, take a ferry to an island (I get sea sick), walk from the ferry to the venue, all in “formal attire as requested”. You can tell I am in a stinky mood about this wedding. Anyhow, I will suck it up and be a wonderful guest and no one (but you all) will know my cranky thoughts.
8/18 – 138.4 The wedding was lovely and DH and I enjoyed ourselves. We were surprised to have been seated with the groom’s parents. Glad they had no idea I was being so whiney about the travel details yesterday morning. Scale hated me today. Maybe that is payback for my attitude. Anyhow, the number was actually surprising as I thought that 137 number represented my bingeing and yesterday, there was none of that. Onwards we go. Have a lovely day!
8/19 - 138.0 So it appears I am really at these numbers.
8/20 – 136.6 Yesterday was a dreary day in Maine. DH decided to do a ride around. Drove and hour and a half to my parents second home that I keep working on cleaning out. Did an assessment and hour of work. Then drove another hour to our old home up at Sunday River. Unlike my husband, I found it sad to visit. His parents built it from nothing in 1973. We bought it in 1993. When we sold in 2018, my adult son broke down in tears, but at least we felt that the family that bought from us would carry on their own happy family legacy. Two years later the mom/wife went to work on a Sunday and was stabbed to death by the security guard. I’m glad DH is only seeing happy memories. Anyhow, from there we went out for a late lunch. “Pastrami sandwich” was a huge sub with onion rings. It was beyond filling and actually could not finish. (surprising for me – a clean plate member). Was perfectly made and delicious. Drove around the town sightseeing before driving the hour and a half back to our condo. That delicious lunch kept coming up on me, which is incredibly unusual. Got home, walked the cats on the beach and then sent to a movie “My Friend the Penguin”. We were alone in the theater, which was great. I could talk, text, and whatever, that I would never do if others were there. Lunch was still coming back at me, which encouraged me to not add to my troubles at the movies. Later, when home, I had a couple Stella D'oro biscuits to end my day. I did not expect to be down.
I think today is a trackable day! Going to give it a go!

About Me & Goals
*******************
F65, 5’6” married, MawMaw Proud. Clean P:E (Proteing> (Cg+Fg) Greater than 1:1 ratio. A clean/whole food WOE. Track macros, all fitness and NSVs. I’ve had an unhealthy relationship with food my entire life.
Weight 🎢 since high school! Ranging 120-172 for 45+ years. SEVEN sizes in my closet. HW 172lbs in 2010. “Always dieting”. Lost 30lbs in 2014 to 130. More crazy🎢 for 10yr. Joined JGMTD R231 7/31/23. Lost 15lbs in 4 mos. Finally said goodbye FOREVER to the 🎢! I’ve named my journey #HSF (Healthy/Strong/Fit) & On my way to
📣#bestshapeofmylife📣
“Maintenance” has not EVER worked for me. Had to recognize and admit that I have some type of food addiction.
I need to push to be actively improving mind, body & spirit. Otherwise, I become mindlessly complacent. Now, a perpetual self-improvement program that I am sincerely enjoying.
In order to stay focused I must continue to track all measures. Missing a day here or there is NBD but if I hit three days in a row, I need to turn around and get back on this journey full-stop!

Didn’t eat very much yesterday but good protein - duck eggs and venison. Delicious!! Late lunch of greek yogurt chicken salad- yummy too. Late night 🎾 and opted for no dinner. Dumb.… Solid🏋️♀️session yesterday. 🚶♀️to grocery in 100°. Felt good actually.
Rest day today.
⚖️ scale ups and downs are more than quizzical. It’s getting to the point where I have simply no idea what the scale will read….. Another chapter in my journey! Onward!

I’m not even going to try to understand the scale. Obviously, no routine. First night I slept through the night in almost a week. I played tennis for about 90 minutes yesterday. Took it easy the rest of the day. My head weighs only 1000 pounds this morning instead of 10,000 pounds… I’m going to try and pretend like I’m 100% healthy today. Will track all measures. Enough is enough.

Somehow I forgot to post the past 3 days. Schedule off track. Anyway, I’m back. Charlie passed his second temperament test this week to earn his AKC temperament tested title and I wanted to share this cute pic of him and his “new title” ribbon. Have a great weekend, everyone—I’m off tomorrow to support my friend at another dog show.

What? I did overeat yesterday and I know I didn’t gain 2 pounds of fat, so it’s temporary, but yikes. I’m really disgusted with myself and a bit depressed about it all. In 2015-2017 I lost almost 80 pounds. I’ve regained 60 and can’t seem to get a handle on it all. Wth is wrong with me?

08/19 -192.2- (Trend weight191.1) Good meals and too many snacks again. It’s not hunger since I didn’t eat dinner until 9:00 pm and was satisfied. It’s just a thing. A bad thing. A very bad thing. Trying again today and hoping to reach that better mindset when the skies become dark and night time surrounds me. I finished the 2 season series “Firefly Lane” last night on Netflix. Wow. It will stay with me for awhile.
08/20 -189.4- (Trend weight 190.9 ) I made homemade jalepeno poppers last night for dinner at 9:30 pm. They were so rich with the cream cheese that I couldn’t snack later except for a square of 70% dark chocolate hours later. I ate the number of poppers that I usually do, but it seemed too much this time. Next time I will make less, so I call that a NSV. I stayed within all my macros. I released a lot of water too, but why does it have to happen in the middle of the night? Sleep was still more hours than usual even though constantly disrupted. I’m feeling hopeful today after this scale drop. I also feel like I know where I really am on the scale without the bloat in my ankles. I woke up 30 minutes before my alarm and used the extra time to do a youtube video workout. Yay me when I do the right things!

Round 269
I'm Julie, 35 years old, and a SAHM to almost 3 year old twins who are newly diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder. After a dark period causing me to put on over 30 lbs in a couple of months, I'm trying to turn things around and be as healthy as possible for my boys and myself.
This rounds goals are to focus on staying within my calorie budget and to go to the gym twice: swim once, treadmill once. I haven't been to the gym in several months, so just getting back there will be the accomplishment.
SW: 160.9
UGW: 125
RSW (ending from last round): 158.7
8/14: 156.9. I wasn't expecting that drop this morning, but it feels good to have my work the last week or so finally decide to pop up. I didn't sleep well last night, and already feel exhausted at 7:30am. I'm going to try to stick with the plan and not let being tired derail me.
8/15: 157.4: This seems more accurate than yesterday's number. Yesterday was not too bad. Nothing major to report from yesterday, I was over calories by about 50 calories, no walk.
8/16: 156.9. I did well eating yesterday, even avoiding emotional eating while dealing with frustration (long story short, my doctor's office scheduled me for a 430 appointment yesterday, and called me shortly before to tell me they close at 4 and are cancelling my appointment. Very weird, unprofessional and annoying as I needed that appointment). My boys are spending the weekend with my mom, so I'm looking forward to relaxing and am planning to go to the gym at least once this weekend.
8/17: 158.4. Not surprising. We hung out with some friends last night. I had had a few beers and some snacks. It was worth it. Today I have some chores and errands to do. I'm going to do some food planning and prep. I'm also planning to hit the gym this evening.
8/18: 157.6. I had a super lazy day yesterday, so the gym didn't happen. I'm having a hard time breaking through the barrier of going for the first time in several months. My husband also ordered in breakfast for us and we went out to eat for dinner. I'm surprised I didn't weigh more this morning.
8/19: 157.4. I had another fairly lazy day. I tried to keep my eating under control, but didn't track. No physical activity to speak of. But I needed some time to do nothing and relax.
8/20: 156.3. I did nothing special yesterday to earn this drop. I tried a new recipe for dinner last night, but didn't really like it, so it was easy to keep my portion size in check.

8/16 203.0 I had LASIK surgery yesterday and found out I can’t lift weights for a week. I can do light exercise after 3 days. The fact that I was bummed about this was kind of a win for me. Exercise has become something I look forward to every day as a stress reliever.
8/17 204.0 Hormonal bloat. Hopefully will reach onderland by the end of the month once the water weight drops off.
8/18 205.7 yuck
8/19 205 Hoping this is the beginning of the slide back down.

8/20 - 148.9 - I'm okay with this jump back up. That means I did something good with re-hydrating myself and getting some good nutrition. I met my macros yesterday (coach didn't change anything and told me to use this week as a de-load. Even if I feel better, NO GYM. We'll resume next week so long as I'm feeling healthy by then). I'm feeling better today - I think I broke the fever cycle finally. I was able to take the dogs on our normal 1 mile walking route this morning without issue, which was nice to get some fresh air and movement again. Still dealing with a bit of brain fog and fatigue but I'm SO MUCH better than yesterday so I'll take it. Here's to further improvement!

Previous Day's Comments8/14 - Travel, DNP
8/15 - I was very bloated at my last weigh on Monday after losing A/C in Texas (it was over 100 outside and no AC for 3 days) so I'm holding on to water. I also left Monday for work travel. I didn't arrive home until 3am this morning so my weigh in is on the high end due to lack of sleep, dehydration from flying/traveling, and general bloat. I'm aiming to resume normal routine tomorrow and hopefully get back on track quickly. Glad to be back
8/16 - Still battling bloat/water retention from travel. I'm not surprised or upset by this. I got back to the gym this morning and knocked out a good workout despite being tired/out of routine. I'm feeling that afternoon slump hitting hard but I have a meeting here in a few minutes that will hopefully distract me and keep me awake and busy.
8/17 - DNP
8/18 - DNP
8/19 - Well, I woke up yesterday feeling horribly sick. BF gave me covid (which we determined is what he was sick with when I came home from work travel Thursday morning). I've been battling a fever. I slept most of the day yesterday so I didn't get much food (maybe 500cals worth) and almost no liquids compared to my normal (maybe 30oz). Battled fever on and off through the night and still cycling through hot and cold phases today so far. I'm attempting to work today since I do work from home but the brain fog is reaaaaaal and I'm not sure how much I'll get done properly. With all that said, this is a false low due to lack of food and liquids. I'm aiming to improve that today - I ate some oatmeal so I could take my meds and supplements. I drank my coffee which has fiber and protein in it and now I've moved on to water. I'll likely go get some tea here in a bit once I get through this feverish phase that has me sweating like my life depends on it. Hopefully I'll be on the mend here soon. Day 4 BF said he started feeling better - not 100% but he had more pep in his step so that'll be about Wednesday for me. Fingers crossed!

No, I'm not. I'm taking elderberry, oregano oil, Vit B, C, D, Zinc to help boost my immune system, trying to eat healthy nutritious foods (hard to with no appetite), and drinking lots of hydrating fluids, including electrolytes.
BF had to go get fingerprints done as part of the background check process for the new job he's trying to get (they selected him, but no start date or anything guaranteed until all that stuff is done and he's cleared) so he brought me back some coconut water to help boost my hydration. Not the tastiest thing, but it does help! I'm feeling better today, thankfully, so I hope this means I'm on the mend5 -
Hi, I'm Charissa, back for another round. I will keep coming back and I will get this thing right, sooner or later.
Thank you, QuiltingJaine, for keeping us focused in 2024! I am looking forward to a successful round!Perfect timing for the new round. I'm all moved in (I didn't say unpacked), I'm back from vacation and starting a new chapter in my life.So here we go 2024... my motto(s) - All the things I need to read daily!!!
I am not sure if I shared this with this group, but starting next week, I am reducing my work hours from 40+ to 20 hours a week. AKA Part-Time. I am so excited. I will have more time to strategically plan and get my exercise in. More time to plan and cook healthy meals and consume before 6pm (most days). And finally, more time to spend with my grandson who is 4 and my newly arriving grandson ETA: late October (Days before my Birthday).

SW RND 269 - 222.2
Dates = Weight ; Comments regarding prior day.
8/14 222.2 ~ looks like a reboot is in order. Vacation was great. I didn't worry about a thing. Looks like from the time I fell off the grid, I gained not quite 3lbs. That's about two months with vacation included. I'll take it as a win.
8/15 222.8 ~ The day itself was not bad, but I had some salty snacks in the evening.
8/16 DNW
8/17 DNW ~ walked 5k, actually a bit over 3.2 miles - 70 minutes - slow but got it done
8/18 DNW
8/19 DNW ~ walked 2 miles today. Husband walked with me the first mile so it was very slow, then I continued for another mile.
8/20 222.0 ~ No real plan at the moment, just getting back into some healthy routines.
8/21
8/22
8/23
@SModa61 ~ Sorry to hear of the not so good memories of your first home.
@Chapter_3 @_JeffreyD_ Thanks for the book and podcast share.
@UTMom81 ~ Sorry to hear of your dad being back in the hospital. Prayers sent.
@kahn72856 ~ All kinds of things could be the culprit. Hang in there and see what tomorrow brings.
@sllm1 ~ Great progress!!!
@SheilaBoneham ~ Yes, its frustrating but hanging in there. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
@Zaca2021 ~ maybe that's the magic. Cook food you don't like I do have an issue with portion control and it's extremely hard when you like what you're eating
@Camandjarvis ~ Glad you're feeling better today. Wishing you continued improvement.5 -
Good morning, Happy to be here, and someplace I can be accountable. I have been trying to set up my new journey on 8/1/24 I have changed my eating habits, went to nutritionists, set up new gym, and getting schedule settled. This would be my final item to stay on track. Happy to be here.

@SModa61 Yea the Murdaugh trial was crazy, and it looks like he might get a new trial because of the clerk of court becky. the trial for kohberger is going to be a long trial to follow. I am also following the Donna Adelson trial, her son is already in prison, and she is in jail now. its crazy out there.2

Seems like the 'strugglers' group is growing!
Met up with DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.
This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to over indulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be give the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal.
Sorry this post is so long, but I need to get it down in written word to help make it stuck!!7 -

I stopped trying to lose weight after Round 254 and disappeared from here to take a break and just try maintaining for a while. I find trying to lose weight takes a lot of mental energy for me and I just needed a long rest until I could get back into the right head space. I gained 4 pounds while trying to maintain but most of that was in the last 2 weeks. I am slowly slipping back into bad habits so I decided to return to holding myself accountable here.

Goal #1 - 142 lbs
Motto: Don't let perfection and extremism get in the way of good enough.
I'm moderately active, (swim, walk, strength training - all to support my love of snow skiing!), and I like healthy foods, but I'm easily lead astray by work stress and outside eating opportunities. I've tried to give up logging and just go with the flow, but that's got me in heap of trouble. So I'm back to MFP, confessing my sins to you all.
My plan is to stay in the 1650 calorie range and adjust from there. Eating too little can only last a day or two before I make bad, bad choices. Striving for daily 85+grams protein, 25+grams fiber, with a side focus on low sodium and high potassium.
Thanks for letting me bare my soul.6 -
