@chicbuc I used to love going to see local theater, even the high school plays were so much fun. I love opera too, but I haven’t been in a very, very long time.6 -
Hello my LA friends!
Been away for a bit vacations and such! lol
Not really proud of my Aug record.
But Sep will be a new month, and I have set a goal for myself to increase the NA days.
AF - 5
A - 20
The first part of Sep we will be on an all-inclusive Alaska cruise. I will indulge but as soon as we get back it will be time to sober up and flush the toxins once again...
cheers!

@xbowhunter We did an Alaskan cruise in June. It was the BEST cruise EVER!! Enjoy the views and have a blast!3

Hey everyone
I continue to lurk now an again LOL I am so happy to see new and old faces O(so to speak).
I continue to be mindful of my A days. Usually 1-2 days a week with moderation. example. 1 as in ONE 4oz pour of wine with dinner then done. Lunch out, (this is the biggie) 2 beers then done. Could leave with only 1 but it is more of a treat now. Out at social events with groups of people we know? AF. Just the appeal has lost it's shine???? weird but I will take it.
I never thought I would be at this point. Like @MissMay I look back and think..yep I'll take it.
Will pop in again in a few weeks. hugs to everyone8 -
Had some planned wine last night and enjoyed it while sitting in the backyard looking at the beautiful hills that surround us. Then more while finishing up a fairly bad show we have been watching bah!
Planning on 4-5 AF days this week so I can come very close to the goal I set for this month.
Love this next season that’s coming soon!

@xbowhunter good to see you!
I also did an Alaskan cruise last July and loved everything about it on and off shore! Cruises are certainly set up for indulging more than we do at home. 😉
@lmlmrn Great to hear from you! Please do continue to drop in now and then. Always loved hearing about your adventures as you traveled to your new residence.
Sounds like you are doing super well with LA and are over the hump that some of us still deal with.
Off to the gym now!
Have a good Monday all5 -
Tally: 16 AF
/ 1 A
I'm feeling like the honeymoon stage is starting to wear off with going AF and seeing the lbs slipping away. My body seems to have adjusted to this new lifestyle and isn't dropping the lbs as it was in the early honeymoon...
But, I'm okay with this, because now I feel like I am getting more comfortable and not struggling as much going AF. I am not planning to give up A forever, but for now I am thoroughly enjoying the benefits, and making better habits.
I'm taking an old school friend, (we have known each other for nearly 60 years), of mine out for her B'day dinner on Wednesday. She wants to go to Acapulco, Mexican restaurant, so we can have margaritas. I let her know that mine will be a virgin version... I wasn't sure how she would react, but she is totally okay with that.

AF free tonight. I would say for the rest of the week, but when I say that my husband decides to buy me a bottle. So, I’ll just say tonight.😉7 -
I had my follow up to go over my bloodwork yesterday. All of my numbers are stable from 2016...some lower, like my cholesterol, and everything is good with no worries. So there's that.
I told my doctor I was cutting down on the drinking, and she asked if I wanted any medication to help with the cravings. I said no for now. Have any of you ever tried anything like that?
I'm letting the devil wine whisper to me too much again. I'm going to try to get out of August with no wine, and start fresh in September and see if I can build a longer streak. I'm choosing not to work out at night because I'd rather have a drink, and that's not making good choices for the moment or for long term.

@xbowhunter and @lmlmrn nice to see you again.
@looneycatblue I hope you have a great dinner tomorrow. It's so nice that your friend is supportive of your decision, no peer pressure to fight off.
@chicbuc I'm with you for a longer AF streak in September.
I really struggled yesterday. My DH was going to the store and asked if I wanted anything; I resisted the urge to say yes and told him no, tonight's going to be tea night. Then about an hour after that, the thought kept creeping into my head to go to the store myself, I didn't. Then later in the evening I thought about taking the frozen wine out of the freezer and thawing it out to drink (I freeze small amounts of leftover in ice cube trays then store in a container to use for cooking). I resisted that too and ended the night with a couple cups of camomile tea, WHEW.
July's tally was AF = 15, A = 16. I'm hoping to end August with AF at least one day over A. That means no more wine for the rest of August
Hope everyone has a healthy and successful day!!

@NonnieDoiron thanks for the tutorial on how to see notifications! Yea, I have an iPhone.
@lmlmrn so great to see you on here! You too @xbowhunter !
I am so proud of myself. For the last three nights, I was able to stick to one glass of wine- even at a Saturday night dinner out! I find it harder to resist that extra half glass at home, but I knuckled through the cravings. Oh, and they definitely last longer than six minutes, I can tell you!!! I am trying to rack up more “within limits” on my drinking app.7 -
My allergies have been acting up and I think the antihistamines in the red wine the other night got to me.
Logging two planned AF days on my intermittent monthly plan. Tonight I will have a delicious can of Recess NA Margarita over ice with squeezed lime.
I need to start thinking about September goals!

No A for tonight. I didn’t walk today either. I use my “lunch hour” to walk around 9am (trying to beat the heat), but I had to log off from work an hour early to take my daughter to a ADHD follow up doctor appointment. So, I worked through it, so I could leave early.
It’s only Tuesday, and it’s already been a long week. My husband rides an emotional roller coaster like crazy, and I’m ready to get off the damn thing. I know some of it is the cancer stuff, and some of it is something he won’t talk to me about. He keeps telling me he’s got a lot to do, but then I see him piddle-farting around with stupid stuff. He is so freaking grumpy, and it’s starting to piss me off.
Anyway, I’m tired. I’m not drinking, but I’m not sleeping well either. Not sure what’s going on. I fall asleep fast but wake up early.
Oh well… I guess it is what it is.6 -
@NonnieDoiron Hope things start to get better for you
@Surfergirl1982 Thank you for the insight into the meds. I know it's weird, but I generally don't like to take prescribed meds if I don't need to anyway.
AF last night.

@SurferGirl1982 thank you for the encouragement.
@Womona you're really doing well with setting limits and sticking to them, nice job.
@NonnieDoiron I hope your situation improves for you, not getting enough sleep is the worst.
@xbowhunter I'm also planning an AF day today, good luck to you.6 -

@SparkSpringtime69 We are neck and neck! We've got this!5

@xbowhunter Have a great time on your cruise. I’ll also be AF with you and @SparkSpringtime69 today.
We will be camping next week and also going on a CA coastal cruise closer to the end September. I will have to plan my new Sept. LA goals with these vacations in mind - one mini and one nearly two weeks!
Had two glasses of white wine (maybe 11 ounces) last night and not tempted to have any more. Now that’s LA and within my limits on these intermittent wine days as I can easily have 3 glasses.
Month is going okay but I want 3 more AF days to end well 😊.

My husband lightened up a little today. I don’t know what was going on yesterday that really had him moody, but he seemed better today. He even went on my walk with me, and helped me pick up litter.
I know why I haven’t gotten a bottle wine so far this week… he hasn’t gone shopping yet. 😂 He says he’s going Friday, so I expect a bottle will appear on my countertop afterwards. We do have some friends coming for a visit Sunday, so I may have a glass or two.
Weigh-in tomorrow morning. Feel good about this week. I’ve been strict on myself!
Have a good evening!6 -

It truly is! I don’t even ask for it. It’s like magic😉
You’ve done great this month, by the way! And to think, you had a hard time getting started. We’re not in AA. We’re in LA so, enjoy your drink(s), tally it, and keep counting those AF days as they come.

Just had to share after my weigh-in today! Finally broke 15 lbs down!

Good for you, @NonnieDoiron! That's a great accomplishment!
@Surfergirl1982 Enjoy your one night and move on. You're doing great!
AF last night for me. Planned AF tonight, too.

Good luck! The struggle is real.4 -
I had two glasses of wine at dinner out on Tuesday. I was having a really rough and depressed day, for no reason at all. But my wonderful husband took good care of me, and he suggested taking me out to dinner. I really got a good one!
Last night 6 oz pour of the low alcohol wine, and that was it. I was very bummed because I thought all this time I had been pouring 5 oz when I measured it a year ago, and last night it was slightly over six! What gives? Same damn glass! Ugh ugh ugh!!
The good news is that 6 oz of low alcohol wine is still less than a standard serving of regular wine, according to my drinking app. The bad news is that 6 oz of regular wine is over the standard limit! I guess I have to be more careful about my pours.
Tonight is one planned glass. Tomorrow probably 2-3 because we close on the new boat tomorrow!!! Whee!
@NonnieDorion glad to hear your hubby was less grouchy yesterday. It really is tough to be a caregiver. But I imagine it’s also tough to be the patient. Oh, and congrats on the weight loss!
@SurferGirl1982 you had an amazing streak going. You can get back on the LA horse- don’t beat yourself up over one A day, it happens. Just pick up and move on. Re-read your posts if you need more inspiration to keep going.
@forestdweller1 I love “Boring is Beautiful.” Should be our banner for next month!4 -
@Womona congrats on the new boat, cheers!
@NonnieDoiron you should be so proud of your weight loss, gotta love MFP for tracking features!
@SurferGirl1982 Old habits are hard to break but you’ve shown yourself what you CAN do. Sometimes that little break puts us right back on track. You can always review your own posts to see how far you’ve come this month with your improved health!
One small glass of dry Italian white last night and definitely AF tonight. I feel like I’m crawling over the LA finish line for August.
Is anyone else their worst critic!?! Reframing this would be “I am pleased with my overall efforts, remembering that I AM accomplishing my intermittent LA/AF goal and no longer strive for perfection.”
Looking forward to our September thread!
