LESS Alcohol ~ AUGUST 2024 ~ One Day at A Time

@forestdweller1 Thanks for the suggestions. I read that some people disguise it in Churus. But those would end up costing quite a bit. I also read that you can dissolve it in tuna juice. But I don't have that much tuna juice. I wish she would like Pill Pockets again. I ordered some coated tablets from Chewy with a prescription from the vet. Maybe those will work better (maybe she won't be able to smell it). And I have some catnip flavored Pill Pockets coming from Chewy today. Maybe she'll like those better. We're going to give them to her without medicine at first.
You won't believe what I've tried. Yesterday, I bought a pouch of salmon baby food...wouldn't touch it. My husband bought some canned spray cheese (American) today. But we haven't seen if she likes it or not. It's Tinker's naptime 😺
I know I'm bad pouring the whiskey down the drain. But, from experience, I would have started drinking it when I woke up ☹️

@SurferGirl1982 - you are not BAD! Whatever we all need to personally do to accomplish Less is going to be different from person to person. You know yourself best!

@Michieb125 Thank you for your support. I was a bit disappointed messing up my streak. But old habits are hard to break! I'm back in AF mode.
My husband and I went for a little drive yesterday. We pasted a tavern in a real small town and I mentioned that I missed being able to just stop in to a bar or tavern and having a drink or a beer. This morning my husband said he would like to do that too...as long as it didn't mess me up (meaning daily drinking). So we decided it was OK to do that from time to time. I would like to limit my drinking to one (maybe two) days a week. I was intending to go for 90 days. But we all have to have a little pleasure in our lives also. I guess you would call it "moderation".5 -
@forestdweller1 I ordered some Churu from Amazon. I read the reviews and a lot of people use that for giving pills. It's not as expensive as I thought. It's supposed to be here tomorrow. The reason I don't buy it at the store is that the nearest pet store is 15 miles away ☹️3

@SurferGirl1982 Did not mean to imply that you were "bad" or "wrong" to dump your whiskey, just that I personally am too cheap or addicted to do the same. You do you Hon, and good for you !!
Maybe that small town tavern serves a good NA beer ?? Y'all get the atmosphere but can keep your LA streak going ??
I mentioned Churus since they work for MD...and their household must be gluten-free because of her DH's health issues. Crossing fingers that you find a fix for Tinker. Chewy is a lifesaver sometimes.6 -

@forestdweller1 magically appearing wine bottles are my favorite, to be honest. It means I didn’t break down and go get it myself, and I didn’t ask him to get it either. If they magically appear, then it’s just there.😉5 -
@forestdweller1 I knew you didn't mean it literally. I knew exactly what you were talking about. Being able to dump it down the sink. Trust me...there's been times where it was really hard 😕
In fact, at one time, I would decide how much I wanted to drink before I had bought it. I figured that I would measure out (in a measuring cup with ml) what I had over that amount and pour it out right when I got home from the store. But that only happened a time or two. After a couple of drinks, I would panic and go get more 😁
I'm not sure if they have NA beer there or not. But if I were going to stop, I would probably get a real beer. This would only be from time to time.
Yes I'm hoping the Churu works. I think it will!4 -
@NonnieDoiron I agree with what you said, "We're not in AA. We're in LA".
And Congratulations on your weight loss 🎉5 -
@Womona I am getting back on the AF horse. But I may allow myself an A day from time to time (just occasionally).
You sure do have a nice husband. He really seems to take good care of you.
Congratulations on the new boat! I bet you're excited!2 -

Good job, @SurferGirl1982! I knew you could do it!
I was in a foul mood yesterday...just foul! Husband wanted to go to the casino, and I said I didn't want to because I would want to drink in that atomosphere and told him I also don't want to go tonight which is when we would normally go. I wanted to drink my foul mood away so badly, but I knew it would cause me to wake up with regret today. I came home avoiding stopping at the store, cooked dinner, cleaned up and put myself to bed 7 PM after he left, and this morning, I'm glad I did.

@SurferGirl1982 i’ve never had a cat, but had a dog that needed meds. When he wouldn’t take it wrapped in cheese or a greenie, (or worse, eat the yummy parts and spit out the pill😡) I would literally just hold his jaw open and shove it down his throat with my finger.4

Congratulations on the new boat! I bet you're excited!
That’s a nice compromise- to have alcohol as an occasional treat. Kind of like a calorie bomb meal or decadent dessert as an occasional treat. I’m striving for that as well!
My husband really is wonderful. Thanks on both counts!4 -
Hi all!
One glass of wine last night. Got stuck at work, came home late and was really happy to have it! But proud of myself that I didn’t drink more.
As we head into this holiday weekend, may we all enjoy ourselves, keeping our goals in mind. Win the weekend, win the week. We are all here for each other to provide support - check in if you need to.
There is something about a holiday weekend that seems to make me throw caution to the wind, and abandon my goals. I personally feel like this will be a challenge- especially celebrating the new boat today!
I will post pix later.
We got this, people!5 -
The flowers and wine are a gift due to a crying fit this morning over work. I’m on the deadline naughty list through no fault of my own. But, I’m a very hard worker and strive to never be on a naughty list. Ended up having a full blown crying fit.
So, hubby brought me a present after grocery shopping. That bottle may not make it to tonight, in all honesty! I may pop the damn thing open now.😕7 -
@SurferGirl1982 so glad to see you were able to enjoy one night of whiskey and get right back into AF mode again, you've got a great month going.
@NonnieDoiron So happy for you that you broke through the 15lb mark! And what a nice hubby you have bringing those beautiful flowers and wine to sooth you.
@forestdweller1 I'm with you on the "no booze down the drain" way of thinking - I get upset if a couple drops of wine end up on my counter instead of in my glass .
@womona Sounds like you had a great win last night. Hope you have a great time on your new boat!!
@chicbuc 3 in a row - Good for you!7 -
@chicbuc Congrats on getting 3 days in a row 🙂
@NonnieDoiron That was very sweet of your hubby. Don't worry if the bottle doesn't make it to tonight. After the day you had you deserve it. Besides, it's 5 o'clock somewhere 😁
@SparkSpringtime69 Thank you for your support. I'm looking forward to starting September so I can start at the beginning of the month!
Have a good weekend everyone!4
