@SurferGirl1982 ...Thankfully Catpuccino at age 8 has never had to take pills, or I would be severely battle scared.
My daughters live in feline controlled households and Middle Daughter has this knack for allowing feral rescues to break into her house and take charge. Her latest is a ginger Tom that after years of living in a heated igloo outside her kitchen window decided that indoors was a better option. Decision was helped by her DH standing for 20 minutes with the kitchen door open in a blinding snowstorm holding a can of tuna. Bibbs had several alley cat health issues that required pills. Think it's hard to give a lap cat meds ?? Try one you can't touch. Disguising pills in Churus works for Bibbs, but YMMV.
Catpuccino would probably only eat Churus if dipped in canned tuna juice [AKA kitty crack]. Cat also refuses to eat ANY kind of wet food since kittenhood.
I guess rubbing your kitty's meds into his ear could lead to him refusing to let you pet him at all, if you had to do it every day. 😾 "Crazy hooman"
Any cat people out here who have better ideas ??

12 pounds is not 20 pounds. Put down the wine order form. 😠4 -
@Womona ...Congrats on the "Bigger Boat"....now you need a "Smaller Glass". 😇
@NonnieDoiron ..."We're not in AA, we're in LA". And still you carry on, in spite of magically appearing bottles of wine !! 😈
@SurferGirl1982 ...I could never ever ever ever pour my drink of choice down the drain. Sacrilege!! You are a strong woman.6 -
@SurferGirl1982 - you are not BAD! Whatever we all need to personally do to accomplish Less is going to be different from person to person. You know yourself best!
7 -
@SurferGirl1982 Did not mean to imply that you were "bad" or "wrong" to dump your whiskey, just that I personally am too cheap or addicted to do the same. You do you Hon, and good for you !!
Maybe that small town tavern serves a good NA beer ?? Y'all get the atmosphere but can keep your LA streak going ??
I mentioned Churus since they work for MD...and their household must be gluten-free because of her DH's health issues. Crossing fingers that you find a fix for Tinker. Chewy is a lifesaver sometimes.6 -

@forestdweller1 magically appearing wine bottles are my favorite, to be honest. It means I didn’t break down and go get it myself, and I didn’t ask him to get it either. If they magically appear, then it’s just there.😉5 -
Good job, @SurferGirl1982! I knew you could do it!
I was in a foul mood yesterday...just foul! Husband wanted to go to the casino, and I said I didn't want to because I would want to drink in that atomosphere and told him I also don't want to go tonight which is when we would normally go. I wanted to drink my foul mood away so badly, but I knew it would cause me to wake up with regret today. I came home avoiding stopping at the store, cooked dinner, cleaned up and put myself to bed 7 PM after he left, and this morning, I'm glad I did.

This!!!!!! I love it and needed to hear this today.
Thanks for the congrats on the boat!

@SurferGirl1982 i’ve never had a cat, but had a dog that needed meds. When he wouldn’t take it wrapped in cheese or a greenie, (or worse, eat the yummy parts and spit out the pill😡) I would literally just hold his jaw open and shove it down his throat with my finger.4

You sure do have a nice husband. He really seems to take good care of you.
Congratulations on the new boat! I bet you're excited!
That’s a nice compromise- to have alcohol as an occasional treat. Kind of like a calorie bomb meal or decadent dessert as an occasional treat. I’m striving for that as well!
My husband really is wonderful. Thanks on both counts!4 -
Hi all!
One glass of wine last night. Got stuck at work, came home late and was really happy to have it! But proud of myself that I didn’t drink more.
As we head into this holiday weekend, may we all enjoy ourselves, keeping our goals in mind. Win the weekend, win the week. We are all here for each other to provide support - check in if you need to.
There is something about a holiday weekend that seems to make me throw caution to the wind, and abandon my goals. I personally feel like this will be a challenge- especially celebrating the new boat today!
I will post pix later.
We got this, people!5 -
The flowers and wine are a gift due to a crying fit this morning over work. I’m on the deadline naughty list through no fault of my own. But, I’m a very hard worker and strive to never be on a naughty list. Ended up having a full blown crying fit.
So, hubby brought me a present after grocery shopping. That bottle may not make it to tonight, in all honesty! I may pop the damn thing open now.😕7 -
@SurferGirl1982 so glad to see you were able to enjoy one night of whiskey and get right back into AF mode again, you've got a great month going.
@NonnieDoiron So happy for you that you broke through the 15lb mark! And what a nice hubby you have bringing those beautiful flowers and wine to sooth you.
@forestdweller1 I'm with you on the "no booze down the drain" way of thinking - I get upset if a couple drops of wine end up on my counter instead of in my glass.
@womona Sounds like you had a great win last night. Hope you have a great time on your new boat!!
@chicbuc 3 in a row - Good for you!7 -

Had a couple of glasses of wine last night. Must have drank them too fast. I have a headache this morning.7 -
I had more than a couple glasses of wine last night and I, too, have a headache, but it's a good reminder for me. I'm going to go ahead a log tonight AF leaving my final August tally at...
AF = 14
A = 177 -
Last day of August....WOW that went fast.
*I got thru starting my new job
*Taking new job online classes
*Height of Summer tourist fun in the sun season
August accountability -
1 Day A (1.5 drinks)
30 Days AF
Overall tally for 2024-
30 days with alcohol -50 standard drinks total
July and August have proven winners for me after my return from Hawaii in June. I want to keep up this pace for flushing out toxins because I know I function better mentally and physically by doing so.
Have a safe Holiday weekend everyone. See you on the September thread tomorrow.

I want to be like you, MissMay.
I'm going for the long streak in September! By long, I mean 2 weeks...lol. We have a weekend scheduled in Alabama 13-16 with my drinking buddy aunt, and I know she'll have the wine chilled when we get there.7 -
Here we are wrapping up another long hot summer month! There has been so much effort from each of you, keep going with your personal LA goals! I also appreciate your support and LA friendship!
For accountability- I am ending the month a handful of days shy of my overall goal but still less A days by 32%.
Tonight my DH and I are going to the last summer concert in our small park which means great music, and people watching into the sunset. We will take our chairs and some cheese and crackers, along with some planned wine.
Have a great Holiday weekend! Take good care.
See you on the September thread!

Keeping it AF tonight. I think I’m dehydrated, and it’s caused another problem, IYKYK.
I’m proud of myself that in the month of August I didn’t drink a whole bottle of wine in 1 night. That’s a huge win for me, and the main goal for joining this group.
Everyone is doing great in the group! We should all feel very happy with our progress.7 -
@SurferGirl1982 ...you may not be stuck with all that unused Churu...after you are definitely sure Tinker is rejecting them, contact Chewy about returning them for a refund. Our family has found out that Chewy is awesome about returns / mistakes. Can't hurt, might help ??
So glad that your kitty decided to cooperate with getting her meds...better than toddlers at plucking our last nerve...😻4 -
August:
AF days - 12
A days - 19
I wish these numbers were reversed but, with all of the stress I've had this month, I'm pretty happy with these stats.
See you all in September!4 -
