Hi,
I'm Cindy. I'm 50, 5'4" and 159.6 as of Aug 1st. Lost 4.6 lbs in July. I didn't quite reach my goal weight for July, but I was close. I have fought with the same 10lbs for the last year.
So my doctor wants to put me on Wegovy or Zepbound. Between the cost and doing a little research, I don't think its a great solution for me. Looks like it might be a rest of life commitment. No thank you!
Started at the gym 7/3. Been going 5 days a week. Missed a few days due to life.
I see my doctor again at the end of August, so I want to loose at least 10 lbs by then to prove I can do it without meds. My ultimate goal is 135 lbs.
Starting weight: 164.2 (July 1, 2024)
August starting weight: 159.6
August goal weight: 155
Aug 1st - 159.6 - Used the rowing machine at the gym for the first time. My friend and I liked it. Why aren't more people using it. No one is ever on it.
Aug 2nd - 160 - Probably the few bites of cookies I had after dinner last night. My daughter wanted Crumble Cookie. How could I say no after the crazy week we have had?

Aug 4th - 160.4 - not paying attention to what I ate yesterday and ate dinner late. Need to work harder this week on what I am putting in my mouth. Last week was a little crazy and I was trying to feed a bunch of young adults. Needed quick, cheap, and easy.
Aug 5th - 158.8 - Actually lost weight over the weekend!
Aug 6th - 157.4 - Not sure how that happened, but I will take it. Only did cardio at the gym yesterday afternoon. I was in a hurry. Had lots to do yesterday evening.

Aug 9th - 160.2 - Very tired this week. Not really sure what is going on except maybe stress. Still going to the gym, but mostly cardio this week and very little weights.
Aug 10th - 159 - Scale finally moving back the other direction.
Aug 11th - 159.2 - I knew it would go up this morning. Yesterday was really busy and only had energy by the end of the day to order pizza. I did have a salad for lunch anticipating being exhausted at the end of the day. Today will be better.
Aug 12th - 158 - Yay!
Aug 13th - 158.6 - Ugh! Why? Not looking good to meet my goal. I have my doctor appointment on the 27th. I'm afraid she will try to push the drugs again.

Aug 15th - 158.4 - The scale needs to move down! Weights and cardio for about an hour afterwork yesterday. Only ate a salad with tomatoes and cucumber last night for dinner. I won't say what I ate for lunch. I think the lesson learned is eat a lighter dinner and a heavier lunch.
Aug 16th - 157.8 - Makes a difference when I stay away from bread. Now for the weekend. Have party to attend for my husband's grandfather tomorrow. He will be 101 and still going strong. Drives and lives by himself. It will be pool side so I probably won't want to eat much because its Texas and it will be hot tomorrow.
Aug 17th - 157.4 - Yay! I made it to the gym 5 times this week. I always take Saturday and Sunday off, so just have to watch what I eat over the weekend. I have a week and a half until my doctor appointment.
Aug 18th - 156.6 - Can't believe it. Getting super close to my goal. I might just make it by the day of my doctor appointment.
Aug 19th - 157.6 - And my body says just kidding. Ugh!
Aug 20th - 158 - No gym yesterday. Had to take my daughter to the dentist after work. Ate Frito Pie for dinner. Too much salt. Surprised my gain wasn't more. Will be at the gym after work today, so hopefully will be back down tomorrow.

Aug 22nd - 156.6 - during the first part of the week my weight trends up and then it goes back down. I don't get it.

Aug 24th - 157.2 - UGH! I am pretty sure I am not going to meet my goal by the time I go to the doctor on Tuesday. No more bread for me. Only salads over the weekend.
Aug 25th - 156.6 - I can't get past 156.6. Why? I usually take the weekends off for exercise, but if time permits today I will probably jump on the treadmill. We leave for Disney next Sunday. It is making me nervous. We are driving, so I will probably take make scale to try and keep myself motivated to eat as healthy as possible. I worked too hard the last two months to gain it all back in a week.

Aug 27th - 156.4 - I see my doctor this morning. I did not meet my personal goal. I wanted to be 155 this morning. I was close. Can't wait to hear what she has to say about me canceling my weight loss appointment with her. This one is for my hormone patch. I hope she understands my reasoning. 7.8 lbs lost since I started on July 1st. I think that is pretty good in 8 weeks at the age of 50.
Aug 28th - 157 - Doctor visit went better than I thought it would. She was glad I chose the gym over meds. She said I am doing great on the weight loss. Scale didn't look so great this morning, but when I work out hard it tends to do that. I did upper body yesterday and then did a hour of cardio. Hopefully it will go back down tomorrow.
Aug 29th - 156.8 - my hip was hurting yesterday evening, so decided to rest the body and no gym today.
Aug 30th - - 156.4 - ok not sure what is going on with my body. No gym yesterday and Taco Bell for dinner. Between the sodium and tortillas I was ready for a increase in weight. I don't get it. The days I don't eat so great and don't go to the gym I loose weight? Will be going to the gym after work today as this may be the last chance I get for a week and a half. I don't think I will meet my goal, for the month but I was close. Happy Friday Everyone!3 -

08/29-190.2-(Trend Weight 190.7)- Up a small bit. My contractor brought in food from the city heโs from yesterday. It was a breakfast pizza all meat, eggs, cheese, and crust but no veggies. I thought it wouldnโt be too bad because it would mainly be carbs. I was wrong apparently. Must be the crust and probably sodium that tipped the scale. Lesson learned. Today will be a well-planned thoughtful day. Itโs back to school time this week so Iโll be picking my DGS up from the bus later today. No bus tomorrow morning as there is already a day off with no school. Contractor is finishing my large deck off my patio door in the main part of the house. Itโs 15 x 28. Rain tomorrow so he will begin the process of staining it next week. Heโs going to be building another small โcoffee deckโ off the sliding patio door in my bedroom soon. We absolutely have to take advantage of the weather-related projects right now since we are in Northern Michigan and fall/winter is coming soon. My roofing supplies are being delivered shortly after labor day and another team will be tackling that. In the meantime, I continue to sleep on my bed sitting in the middle of my living room. I am getting extremely impatient but know we have to work with the weather first.
08/30-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- No weigh Friday. I fixed a nice โnormalโ (includes more carbs) style dinner last night for myself, DS, DD and DGS. It included some extra carbs in the form of a starchier veggie and a side of pasta as the DGS and autistic DS will both eat that. I also had some caramel corn later out of my daughterโs mobile stash. A new product from an Amish store and my curiosity got the best of me! My own choice and my own fault. I hope to have a good day today so that my weight tomorrow will not be so affected. However, it is a holiday weekend and there are some plans in place. Stay safe everyone!

My July Reflection for anyone who cares to read:July Reflection
July was a tough month for me. I do not really understand why I lost motivation this month, but probably a combination of not being able to do my normal exercise routine coupled with getting close to my goal and self-sabotage.
I lost 1.5 pounds this month. My goal was to at least lose 2% of my body weight which would have been about 3 pounds. I got close for a couple of days โ but then went over the top and gained some back. The good thing is that I got back at it right away and did not allow the one-day binges to continue into a weekend, or weeklong binge. Down 84.5 pounds since I started this journey.
Exercise was different for me this month as well. The doctor asked that complete non weight bearing exercises, so no real walking. My strength, cardio, stretch, and steps were all done in the chair most of the month. I did get the green light to start up again at the end of the month and am slowly transitioning from chair to standing.
Now for the good news โ I reached the 1,500-mile marker on my quest to walk 2,024 miles in 2024, logging about 150 miles in July (mostly seated). I found a place on my Garmin app which gives me the total intentional exercise time โ so much easier for me to track my second goal which was 2,024 miles of intentional exercise (I count 20 minutes as a mile). I was previously doing it on an excel spreadsheet โ which probably wasnโt too accurate. With this new calculation I am at 1,181 miles to date โ just where I should be to complete it for the year. I can do it.
There are a lot of obstacles in my way for the month of August. Family picnic this weekend, followed by my birthday, then a three-day girlโs trip to Turning Stone Casino, and then finally a three-day trip for my wedding anniversary. With that in mind am going to keep the same goal as July โ a 2% loss. Yes, I would love to see that ideal number (3.5 pounds), but that dangling carrot hasnโt helped me with my goals, so am going to shoot for that in September when it is much more reachable. It is also break time for both the Hogwarts and BLC challenges โ so need to motivate myself โ not as easy to do.
I have thought a lot about what my final goal should be. My initial goal was five pounds under the ideal range or 135 pounds. But when I look at myself, I still do not see fit. So am adjusting it to 100-pound loss or January 8, 2025 (my two-year starting date) whichever comes first.
My Goals for August:

PRIOR WEEKSAug 1: 142.8 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐ฆ ๐ง I'll never get it - didn't really do anything different - but a nice swish. Nothing exciting happening - end of the month is reflection and budget day so spent a good amount of time at the computer. I added a new goal this month - declutter - thinking one declutter thing a week. We'll see how that goes on my goal to become more minimalistic. My Aunt cancelled the family picnic that was planned for this weekend. My other Aunt is up from Florida and we were all going to get together - but it is supposed to rain all day so she cancelled. I'm sorry to see it because I haven't seen a couple of my cousins in a long time - but one less temptation this month is probably a good thing as August is filled with one to many for me.
Aug 2: 142.7 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ฆต๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐งNice day yesterday, went out on the boat, a little dip in the water. I love our little lake (which only town resisdents can use). I counted the boats that were on the water - 2 boats, 1 jet ski, and a paddle board (plus us). My knee was feeling great yesterday, and I got in 17K steps. This was my daily goal pre knee injury so was so happy to see it. I'm feeling a little sore this morning though, so will curb it a little today.
Aug 3: 142.4 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐ฆ ๐งHot and Humid in Connecticut yesterday. Got our walk in, but was super sticky. We harvested our first pot of potatoes (we picked the little one to see how they were doing) and got seven good potatoes from the pot. Super happy with that. After a terrible garden year, it was nice to see some profits from our work. We talked about next year's garden and all we can seem to grown this year is tomatoes and potatoes (and ok arugula). Even the fruit trees - no apples, no pears - we do have peaches but the squirrels are taking them one by one before they are ripe. No big plans for today - it's also going to be a hot and humid one.
Aug 4: 142.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ฆต๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐งOne of my spare bedrooms has my treadmill in it and a weight machine. We had a twin sized bed in there as well (it was Allyson's room way back when). Finally decided to get rid of the bed. Also cleaned out the bureau - now the bureau is empty (going to move some things from my bedroom to make it so my closet isn't stuffed) and we moved the ab chair into the room. Threw away a big bag of stuff, another big bag going to good will and a couple bags of stuff for Allyson to go through. If she doesn't want it another two bags to goodwill. Now it is truely a workout room. ๐
Aug 5: 142.9 ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งRest and stretch day for me. I also didn't get all my water in - hoping the uptick is just that. Tonight is bingo with the Mom and the gang. Celebrating my birthday (and one of the other in Mom's circle of friends). So will have a light eating day today to make up for the cupcakes tonight. Prelogged my day and if I stick to it should still end up with a deficit. Cleaned out the closet in the workout room - another two bags to goodwill.
Aug 6: 143.2 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช๐ฆต ๐ฆ ๐งTotally expected, the cupcake sugar high made me ravenous and when I got home I binged - added another 650 calories of junk to the mix. Back at it today. Good thing is that I won for a change - went bingo twice, and won the $10 door prize.

Aug 7: 142.9 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐งGood day yesterday. Didn't get the expected amount of rain they were predicting, so got in my AM walk. We also took a drive to the shore, took a little stroll down the boardwalk at the mouth of the Connecticut River.
Aug 8: 143.4 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ช๐ฆตOver my sodium goal yesterday and my calorie limit was 12 calories over - I know not by much but the sodium on top of it and the scale shows every bit of my being off plan. I haven't been sleeping well either which I think contributes to the scale. Today is my actual birthday (64), but not doing much today - will celebrate tomorrow and Saturday when Allyson will be here.
Aug 9: 144.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ซ๐ฆตOut last night to celebrate my birthday. I logged everything and it wasn't pretty. But I did have a nice time.
Aug 10: 143.5 ๐ ๐ฅ ๐งโโ๏ธ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐ง Back to where I started at the beginning of the month. Hopefully can make a dent downward before I leave on my trip on Thursday (three day girls outting). Rest day yesterday. Allyson stayed most of the day. She is writing a book and when she finishes a chapter she reads them to me. I got two this weekend. ๐ฅฐ Then we went out on the boat for a bit, took a little plunge in the water. Had our dinner at lunchtime, then Allyson headed home. I got a new tv for my workout room - so after she left set that up.

Aug 12: 143 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐งHarvested the potted potatoes yesterday - got about 15 pounds in the six pots. Still have a few plants that we sowed in the ground - we are leaving those for now - they don't appear to be finished quite yet. Yup, next year potatoes and tomatoes - that's all that seems to grow well. We have another woodchuck that just consumed the peppers and squash plants - Greg saw him crawl over the gate! It hasn't been a great year for the garden.
Aug 13: 142.6 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช๐งโโ๏ธ๐ฆ ๐ก๐งWent for nice walk yesterday - we were going to our usual spot but the bridge over the river was closed so had to turn around. Stopped at Machimoodus state park. We haven't been here in a really long time.

Aug 14: 142.4 ๐ ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ซ๐ฆต ๐ฆ ๐ก Went to Allyson's yesterday AM, she was having issues with the new chromebook she bought - apparently the office 365 app not compatible - so since she bought it to work on her book during her lunchbreaks - it is being returned. I thought maybe I could figure out a way to get there on the web - but couldn't get it done. Then I got home and checked the garden, I was going to pull out the eaten squash and found a hiding squash in the one plant that wasn't demolished - HUGE - almost three pounds. They aren't as good when then get big. Oh well, tried a new skinnytaste receipe for Stuffed Zucchini. It was tasty. Tomorrow AM going on my trip with the girls - so won't be posting for the next few days. We are off to Turning Stone Casino for three days of fun and gambling. I met this milestone yesterday!
Aug 15: ๐ ๐ก Didn't think I would check in today because of my trip - but leaving later than I anticipated. Diisasterous day; I made cookies for the trip and of course had to taste them. Tasting led to a sugar binge - chip binge - a beer. Typical for me - I go off plan just a bit and it is like it is a freedom to do whatever I want. The good part of yesterday was that I tried my paddleboard. I didn't stand up on it - tried but the wobbling of it wasn't good for my knee and didn't want to re-injure it - so just did it kneeling; it was fun. My plan for the trip is to get up earlier than the others and head to the fitness room for a treadmill walk. If I still have time I might do some MFP (bringing my laptop) before my roomies rise. Hope I don't wake them. That's the plan anyway - we'll see if I can get my butt out of bed after a night out.

I am back at it full swing for the next few days - then going away for a couple days to celebrate our anniversary and then I'll have nine days to try to get back to my August starting weight. Yikes, it's going to be a tough one. I did have a wonderful time - spent a lot of $, obviously I ate a lot of junk, too much salt, too much sugar, no fruits and veggies to talk about, but it was nice to get away with the girls. We do this once a year and every year one of us has one big. I had my year last time so wasn't expecting it. My younger sister did well this time around!

Aug 20: 143.5 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช๐ซ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐ง Another great day, another swish from the girls trip bloat. Down to my August starting weight. I skipped bingo night out with Mom and the gang so no goodies! We leave for our Anniversary trip tomorrow (37 years). I expect a rise again, but not as bad as the girls trip. We are going to Mystic, Connecticut for 2 nights (you might remember the village from the movie Mystic Pizza movie from the 80's). It's just a 50 minute drive away, but still a get away for us. Then when I get back - no more obstacles for a bit! Phew! I hope to at least lose this month, even if it's just a couple tenths of a pound.

Aug 22: 144.2 ๐ฃ ๐ Happy Anniversary to me. Had a nice day yesterday. Went to the aquarium, then walked through the shops Old Mystic Village. Had a nice lunch, ice cream, and then a small dinner and drinks. Logged everything to the best of my ability - but who knows how accurate it was.
Aug 23: 147.2 ๐ฃ ๐ Another nice day with way too much foodie stuff. But had a good time. Glad to be heading home to get back to my routine. I have one week to lose the bloat to get below my August starting weight to at least say I lost something this month.

I know that I won't make my 2% goal, but am still so happy I won't have a gain this month. I am determined more than ever to get to that ideal BMI weight in September. I can do it!
Aug 27: 142.4 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ฆ ๐ก๐งBusy day yesterday, so counting as my "rest" day. We did get our morning walk in. Then I had a Vascular appointment, they found one vein that has Venous reflux (blood flowing in the wrong direction). Also some of my vericose veins are on the larger size. It's usually enought to get insurance to approve treatment - hoping that is the case and I can get the sclerotherapy done on the ugly vericose veins. The venous reflux treatment is a little more invasive, and since it really isn't bothering me we decided to hold off on that one for now. If insurance won't cover the vericose without doing the venous reflux I'll do both.
Aug 28: 142.2 ๐๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช๐ฆต๐ฆ ๐ก๐งMy first smile since August 14. I don't get them until I hit the lowwest weight of the month. Had a nice day yesterday. Started with our usual walk - then went to Allyson's house. Her car's check engine light came one, so dad was going to use his diganostic tool that that tells him what the fault is. But when she got gas, it went away. Dad ran the diagnostics anyway and it came up clear - thinking it was just a loose gas cap. So it was kind of a wasted trip - but it was nice to see her. I came home and went through another shelf in my closet - another bag of clothes to go to goodwill. I think I may need to go shopping soon! I have summer stuff that fits, but looking at all the winter stuff I think I may need new. Picked a couple ears of corn ๐ฝ from the garden - really tiny but we grew them, and then burgers on the grill (no bun for me); tasty! We'll try growing corn again next year - thinking that we need to plant them closer together and a bigger patch - that way easier to pollinate and hopefully will hold each other up.
Aug 29: 142.8 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ซ ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ฆ High sodium yesterday, so hoping the uptick is very short lived. Nothing really to talk about for yesterday - just time whizzing by doing nothing! I did hit the 1,700 mile marker on my quest to reach 2,024 in 2024.
Aug 30: 143.2 ๐ฃ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ช๐ฆต๐ฆ ๐ก๐งNot going in the right direction. Didn't really do anything differently except eat outside my eight out window. Perhaps the remnants of the salty day the day before? Hoping to see a swish downward tomorrow. The Hogwarts challenge had a mission that you had to travel 2 miles 2 different ways. So I asked Greg to get out my bike so I could ride the second 2 miles. The tire was flat, so he pumped it up. We got to the park for the ride and the tire was flat again - so much for that. Stopped at the bike store on the way home and bought a new tube - Greg fixed it yesterday and will try again this morning; hoping to add a ๐ฒ to my pictures tomorrow. By the way I for one will be happy to see August gone.

I'm Cindy. I'm 50, 5'4" and 159.6 as of Aug 1st. Lost 4.6 lbs in July. I didn't quite reach my goal weight for July, but I was close. I have fought with the same 10lbs for the last year.
So my doctor wants to put me on Wegovy or Zepbound. Between the cost and doing a little research, I don't think its a great solution for me. Looks like it might be a rest of life commitment. No thank you!
Started at the gym 7/3. Been going 5 days a week. Missed a few days due to life.
I see my doctor again at the end of August, so I want to loose at least 10 lbs by then to prove I can do it without meds. My ultimate goal is 135 lbs.

Aug 1st - 159.6 - Used the rowing machine at the gym for the first time. My friend and I liked it. Why aren't more people using it. No one is ever on it.
Aug 2nd - 160 - Probably the few bites of cookies I had after dinner last night. My daughter wanted Crumble Cookie. How could I say no after the crazy week we have had?

Aug 16th - 157.8 - Makes a difference when I stay away from bread. Now for the weekend. Have party to attend for my husband's grandfather tomorrow. He will be 101 and still going strong. Drives and lives by himself. It will be pool side so I probably won't want to eat much because its Texas and it will be hot tomorrow.
Aug 17th - 157.4 - Yay! I made it to the gym 5 times this week. I always take Saturday and Sunday off, so just have to watch what I eat over the weekend. I have a week and a half until my doctor appointment.
Aug 18th - 156.6 - Can't believe it. Getting super close to my goal. I might just make it by the day of my doctor appointment.

It is making me nervous. We are driving, so I will probably take make scale to try and keep myself motivated to eat as healthy as possible. I worked too hard the last two months to gain it all back in a week.

Aug 27th - 156.4 - I see my doctor this morning. I did not meet my personal goal. I wanted to be 155 this morning. I was close. Can't wait to hear what she has to say about me canceling my weight loss appointment with her. This one is for my hormone patch. I hope she understands my reasoning. 7.8 lbs lost since I started on July 1st. I think that is pretty good in 8 weeks at the age of 50.
Aug 28th - 157 - Doctor visit went better than I thought it would. She was glad I chose the gym over meds. She said I am doing great on the weight loss. Scale didn't look so great this morning, but when I work out hard it tends to do that. I did upper body yesterday and then did a hour of cardio. Hopefully it will go back down tomorrow.
Aug 29th - 156.8 - my hip was hurting yesterday evening, so decided to rest the body and no gym today.
Aug 30th -156.4 - ok not sure what is going on with my body. No gym yesterday and Taco Bell for dinner. Between the sodium and tortillas I was ready for a increase in weight. I don't get it. The days I don't eat so great and don't go to the gym I loose weight? Will be going to the gym after work today as this may be the last chance I get for a week and a half. I don't think I will meet my goal, for the month but I was close. Happy Friday Everyone!

08/31-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- I was disrupted and woke up earlier than I wanted to roll out of my bed (still in the living room) this morning by DD and DGS. Didnโt get the weigh-in done which is in my mudroom since my bathroom is down as part of the reno. Iโm likely going out of town today to get my oil changed since Iโm nearly 7000 miles over limit and itโs being used to haul trailers full of very heavy wood and supplies. I havenโt had a free day to do it lately. Dinner will most likely be out so I may just skip weight tomorrow too and weigh in a couple of days from now. This whole month of August seems to have been turned upside down and then tipped on its ear. Iโm hoping, after today, to make the rest of this holiday weekend be less about food and more about rest. We shall see how it all pans out. I will use my last known weight as my start weight for September and will try to be more consistent next month on my goals.

Hi, I'm Jill!
I'm 54 and have been married 28 years. I have 2 children-- a son who is 23 and a daughter who is 19. I work full-time selling new construction homes, and I absolutely love it! Yardwork is also one of my favorite things to do...from grass cutting to weed wacking...if I can be outside, I will be playing in the yard.
This is the month that Iโll get below 208 pounds. I can feel it!
