@trooworld Happy Birthday! I hope your day was filled with lots of fun. No biggie on eating special foods occasionally. Hi, all. I walked around the neighborhood today. It was a bit humid but not too bad. I also did 3 strength workouts on my program. Our hairdresser came to our house today. It feels good to have my hair cut plus I got color this time. Lunch was leftovers from last night. Dinner was Skinnytaste Pork Chops with Mushrooms and Shallots, air fried polenta and baked honey nut squash. I was the cook again tonight. I get a break tomorrow as DS is cooking.0

Hello all I got back in last night from the South. So happy to get out of there before the hurricane hit and maybe I would be delayed. We went to Savannah and then Charleston and drove back to Savannah yesterday morning. Flight was delayed for almost 3 hours but we got out of there and because of the storm systems had bad turbulence most of the flight. Lots of praying going on. About an hour ago I read Savannah was having a tornado sirens go off. Glad to be back in MN. I went to the gym for 30 min and walked on the treadmill and made a black bean butternut squash stew. Proud of myself because usually I have a day of rest after a trip and THEN I start back on healthy habits.

@fabgeekmom Thank you! It was not filled with hardly any fun but that's okay, I'll try to make up for it this weekend! You are so consistent with exercise, well done! It does feel good to get your hair done. Dinner sounds good. That's good you will get a break.
@theslightedgeforever Oh that's good you got out of there. My DH's aunt was supposed to go on a cruise yesterday but is stuck down there because of the hurricane. I don't know if she will still go. I hate turbulence, that must have been terrible. Good job with the exercise! And well done with the healthy dinner.
Hi all. My birthday yesterday was pretty much like any other day: my DH is still sick and so I worked until noon. I went and got us takeout Thai food for lunch and then ran errands. I came home and made this owl lantern. That's about the extent of my fun. I made dinner last night: Pumpkin Wild Rice Soup. It was delicious and pretty healthy. I have to have a medical test done this morning and then go to work. I'm feeling sniffly and my throat is slightly sore. I hope I am not getting my husband's cold. I've got 5 medical appointments next week that I can't miss!

@trooworld I hope you don't get sick. I love that owl. You are so talented. Your soup sounded good and healthy. I'm eating some sweet and sour turkey meatballs over white rice. It turned out so good. I originally bought a sugar-free orange ginger marinade for another recipe but then didn't use it. So I used that with a little soy sauce added and added the baked meatballs to that.
I joined a walking club with some of my friends the other day. So it really has made me get in my steps when I didn't really want to. I went to the gym again to get on the treadmill and hit my goal. It's only a 5000 goal right now while I'm at my daughter's since her apt is so small. It's like 5 steps from living to kitchen and then another 5 steps to the bedroom. lol
I hope you all are making good choices0 -
@trooworld The owl lantern looks really nice. You did a great job on it and I can see that you’re talented. I hope you don’t get sick. The soup sounds delicious. @theslightedgeforever The meatballs sounded good. That was a good idea to join a walking club. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. It rained this afternoon. I think it was related to the hurricane. We were lucky as that was all we got. DS had to cook the steaks indoors. He made some delicious mashed potatoes. I froze the leftovers to eat next week when he is out of town.0
-
@theslightedgeforever Thanks, I hope I don't either but I feel like I am. I've been taking Zicam in hopes it at least shortens it. Oh, thank you! I had fun making it. It was a little difficult to make but not too bad. The soup was good and healthy! Sweet and sour turkey meatballs sounds good. Did you make up the recipe or is there one you can share? Was it just the marinade and soy? Yummmm. That's great you joined a walking club, awesome! I used to live in an apartment like that before we bought this condo. It was so small and we were constantly tripping over each other lol. I am not making good choices, it was my birthday and the junk is kind of fizzling out but it's still around.
@fabgeekmom Thank you! I think I am getting sick. I can feel it coming. Good job with the swim. I'm glad that's all you got from the hurricane. My younger brother is in SC and his power is out. He said it will probably be out for days.
Hi all. I can't believe I'm getting sick again. I've been taking Zicam but it's still coming on. Hopefully it at least shortens it. Yesterday, we had an open house at work and I had to put my "public face" on all day. It was rough lol. By the end of the day, I just wanted to go home and crash so that's pretty much what I did after dinner. Today, I have to pick up groceries at Sam's Club and actually go into the store at Walmart and the local produce store. I just want to lay on the couch lol. That's what I intend to do after shopping.

Morning all, so went to the Dr, have to go have a CT scan and she will refer me to orthopedic. FUN FUN, I feel like @trooworld..LOL I didn't do so well eating night before last...was trying to eat the pain away..which was stupid of course. So try try try again. We are have a HEAT wave..supposed to be 112 today, it was 110 yesterday. So no outside activities.
@trooworld So sorry you are getting sick...Yes agree for shorter time down. I love your owl. You are very talented..
@fabgeekmom Sounds like you are maintaining with DH being in recovery mode. You are doing great. How is he doing? I hope the recovery is quicker than expected. I don't like the recovery mode. LOL
@theslightedgeforever Glad you are back to DD place safe. I believe you could have a stand up comic routine if you wrote about your many travels on a plane. LOL. Not that they were funny at the time, but looking back...Good for you for getting right back into the health routine. I am going to try today to push through this and get back to mine...tired of being down.
cbabie0 -
@trooworld I hope the Zicam works. It’s hard putting on a “public “ face when you don’t feel good. Good luck with the shopping. Hi, all. It’s sunny today and I’m going for a walk. I’ll do my strength workouts, too. Tonight DS is grilling hotdogs and hamburgers, plus making coleslaw. I want both so I may skip the bun. I’m also going to slice some tomatoes and onions. I hope everyone has a great weekend.0
-
@cbabie Going to the orthopedic doctor is your best bet. I know how you feel. Wow, it’s hot your way! DH is recovering well. Friday he sees the orthopedic doctor and hopes to have his splint/bandage removed. The next step might be a boot.0
-
@fabgeekmom I have two bags of mashed potatoes in the freezer. I think I'm going to make a shepherds pie with some ground turkey and then maybe use the other to thicken up a soup. Obviously no one but me is eating mashed potatoes. lol I need to quit making them. I'm glad you didn't get anything other than a bit of rain. NC really seems to be hit hard. People are still trapped because bridges and roads are gone. Some whole neighborhoods have been washed away. Just helps us remember to be grateful for what we do have. Speaking of your hubby's boot, my ds finally got out of his boot but has been wearing an ankle support brace when he walks because it still needs some support while it finishes healing. His ankle is really weak he says. He wants to go rock climbing again.
@trooworld I used the recipe below for the meatballs. I halved the recipe since it was just the three of us instead of salt I used Weber's Gourmet Burger seasoning from Walmart. After baking the meatballs I put them in a pan and poured the sauce over them The whole bottle and then added some soy sauce to taste. About 4-5 shakes. Sorry about your brother. Hope he gets power back soon. How are you feeling today? Hopefully the Zicam will work soon.

@cbabie Heat wave huh? Shall I bring some cooler weather with me? I hope they figure out what's wrong with your knee. Have you thought about doing chair aerobics? They have some on YouTube. Don't I have the best stories? At least I haven't had snakes on a plane yet.
So I did my 5000 steps again today. My stress fracture is hurting again. I might end up buying me a foot support if this continues. I figure people play football with taped up ankles and such. No excuses right?

I have three more months of my ww membership. Haven't used it to be honest. Everytime I log on, I find it too hard and confusing. MFP is definately the easier option!0
-
@cbabie Oh my, well at least you will get some answers (I hope!). 112??? Some fall you are having lol. Thank you!
@fabgeekmom It seems to be working. It really is hard to do that when you don't feel good. I bet that walk in the sun felt good. I hope you enjoyed dinner.
@theslightedgeforever I love mashed potatoes, I'd eat them! Thanks for the recipe, sounds yummy. I love the G Hughes sauces. Thanks, I need to check on him today. I will tell about how I am feeling below but short answer: better! Good job with your steps. How often does your walking club meet? I'm sorry about your foot/ankle.
@anxietyfairy Hi and welcome! I agree that MFP is pretty straightforward.
Hi all. I am feeling much better but I still have a stuffy nose. I'm still taking the Zicam. Yesterday afternoon, I felt well enough to go out and about. We went to an antique mall and for coffee. I may go to water aerobics today, I'm not sure. I made porcupine meatballs last night (called that because you put raw white rice in them and as they cook, the rice pokes out). The best part though was the sides I made: I made up recipes for both sides. I made brussels sprouts in the air fryer with some balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper, and a teaspoon of sugar. I also made these sauteed golden potatoes that were super good.

Hi all. I see I'm talking to myself today lol. My nose is still stuffy but I'm feeling better. Still taking the Zicam. I didn't go to water aerobics, I was running around with my husband instead. We went for coffee and then took my MIL a birthday gift. Have a great day!

@trooworld I posted yesterday but I see it didn’t post. I’m glad you are feeling better. Hi, all. Not much happened yesterday. My daughter came over and put chicken and other ingredients in our slow cooker. Later in the afternoon we realized that the slow cooker was dead. DS put the food in the oven but I didn’t think it was safe to eat. So DD ordered pizza which everyone enjoyed. DS made a salad. I only ate 2 slices. Today is a swim day. I have chicken that I’m going to marinate and then air fry plus yellow squash and rice.0

Morning all, My weekends go by so fast, I don't know if that will change anytime soon. It's currently 93 with an expected high of 105, triple digits until next week sometime..I swear this is the longest we have had to run our air. I can't get in to get a CT scan until next week, so It's just me an a knee called ugh..LOL. sorry I heard the song...just me and a dog named boo.....
@trooworld glad you are feeling better. Sounds like you had a good weekend in spite of a stuffy nose. (did you tell DH thanks for the gift of a stuffy nose?). LOL
@fabgeekmom I hope and pray he gets the boot, I suppose that gives him more freedom. Yes I wouldn't have eaten the chicken either. As I get older I get more paranoid about food..LOL. Years ago I would have just smelled it and if it smelled good we would have eaten it
@theslightedgeforever I don't have real potatoes for the fact, I always cook too many and have left over..I guess I could freeze, but baby girl only knows instant..LOL Not sure she would eat them. Glad DS is out of the boot.
@anxietyfairy Welcome to the board, yes I agree, this is much easier. I hope you have a great Monday!
cbabie1 -
@cbabie Wow, that’s really hot! And waiting for tests is frustrating.0
-
In person WW meetings are closing in New Zealand that was one of the best parts.0
-
@anxietyfairy Welcome to the group! I think find the easiest option for tracking consistently. I think the in-person meetings would make me more accountable with the weigh in. Too bad they are closing them.
@trooworld My walking club is only online. We use what's app and all we do is post our number of steps. You are allowed to post an emogi on other's steps but no chit chat to the group. Some of them don't like that rule. lol Yesterday I had a whole 577 steps. No that's not a typo. I didn't leave the apartment and evidently didn't move around alot. I'm still dealing with my top of my foot hurting. It flares up once in a while which is now.
@fabgeekmom Too bad about the chicken. I'm not as paranoid about food as @cbabie I'd be fine but I'm sure my hubby wouldn't. He always seems to have stomach problems and then blames it on me. lol
@cbabie I like instant mashed potatoes better than the real things. No idea why. Hopefully you'll get some answers about your knee so you can get back to some real exercise.

@fabgeekmom That's too bad. I'm glad, too, that I am feeling better. That's too bad about your slow cooker. I wouldn't have thought it safe, either, I'm glad you ordered pizza. Sounds like a good dinner.
@cbabie Ugh that's hot. My weekends go by really quickly, too. We are always running around. I just want to stay home and relax but my husband must go go go. Does your knee hurt just as bad still? I'm glad I'm feeling better, too. LOL I am so appreciative that he thought of me with that stuffy nose! I'm sure it would have been much worse if I didn't take the Zicam.
@anxietyfairy Oh that's a bummer. I always enjoyed the in person WW meetings and got a lot out of them. I'm sorry.
@theslightedgeforever Oh interesting. I don't think I would like that rule I'm a talker lol. Wow, 577, you must have been staying still! I'm sorry about your foot. Do you need to go back to the doctor?
Hi all. I went to the cardiologist yesterday to get the heart monitor that I am wearing for two days. I'm glad it's only for two days. I have electrodes taped to various part of the front of me and wires hanging off those. I have to have this controller that is about the size of a deck of cards in my pocket. I can't take a shower for 48 hours. I'm already sick of it lol. I have a scan of my gallbladder tomorrow morning, I called to ask if I should reschedule because of this and they said I wouldn't have to. Hopefully that's correct.

My phrase for the year: "New year, new me!"0 -
@theslightedgeforever That’s too bad about your foot. I may have missed a post. Are you getting treatment for it? @anxietyfairy A lot of meetings are also closing in the States. There used to be one really close to where I live but now they are too far. @trooworld I have worn a heart monitor before and it was a pain. Hopefully you’ll get good results. Hi, all. It was dreary today but a lot cooler so my walk was nice. I cooked pork chops, asparagus and potatoes for dinner. DD brought pumpkin spice Oreos for dessert. They were okay but not to die for. I prefer the chocolate ones.0
-
@fabgeekmom It is a pain! I hope so too. That sounds like nice walking weather. Too bad about the oreos.
Hi all. I have another doctor's appointment this morning. This week is full of them. I am so thirsty right now, I can't drink or eat anything until after the procedure.
Water yesterday: 86 oz
My phrase for the year: "New year, new me!"0 -
@trooworld I hate weeks with lots of doctors’ appointments! But you’re getting a lot done so that is good. Hi, all. Today is a swim day. I’m making marinara sauce with turkey sausage over polenta tonight. I’m loosely following an ATK recipe.0
-
Morning all, I am still limping around, but I refused to just sit any longer. I can stand, it's the walking and turning that bother me. SO I just get started on something and stand until it's done. then my knee is really swollen and I HAVE to sit for a bit. LOL. I cleaned out one of the closets yesterday. Went through my cassettes. Yes I still have them. When they went in the closet, we were still listening to tapes..Now a decade later..( I found one of my Dad preaching). Today DH and I cleaned the floors..I couldn't take one more day of it. Kids are messy!!! LOL I just got a call from a place the DR sent in a referral for an infusion...don't know what that is, but I am sure I am not doing it. Waiting on a call from the DR..
@theslightedgeforever glad you put not a typo..I get 100 just going from bedroom to kitchen..LOL. Sorry your foot is hurting...I get it. Yes I am more paranoid..imagine that! LOL
@trooworld I hate those weeks, I still have more than my share too. I want to be someone that just sits in my house..LOL. That's how I felt when I had an EEG done..oh that was fun with a little baby..
@fabgeekmom Yea I like the chocolate ones too..double stuffed to be exact. LOL I think I only like pumpkin pie and pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting..LOL
Cbabie
0 -
@cbabie Wow, cassettes! That must be special to have one of your dad preaching. Sorry about the knee. Yes, kids are messy.0
-
@cbabie Did you get a call from the dr about your infusion? Maybe it's just infusion therapy. That's not bad. Now I'm limping around too lol Only my right foot has started hurting. So how is your food in all this. If you can't exercise you can still eat healthy foods.
@fabgeekmom It's an old injury that gets flared up when I don't wear supportive shoes and then do alot of walking. It's basically ice and rest. I'm resting it but not so good on the ice. I hate that part. I put a compression sleeve on it yesterday that helped.
@trooworld The other day I didn't leave the apt and just sat basically on my computer or reading. The whole thing is 777 sq ft. I've had to wear a holter monitor before. Not fun. I like to sleep on my side and stomach. Hopefully you will get through these tests and be able to schedule your surgery.
I'm leaving on a trip on Saturday so I'm just trying to eat things in the house and not go grocery shopping. Had cereal and bananas again tonight for supper. I went to the gym but was so physically tired. I did 25 min of treadmill and then about 5 min of strength training. I just did not have the energy to continue. But I went and hit my goal for my walking club. They moved it up to 6000. Now I'm waiting on my daughter to come home. It's 10:30 and she's been gone since 6:30 this morning. Don't know if she's still in surgery or something else. Waiting is no fun.

@fabgeekmom Yes, it's been annoying lol. Good job with the swim. I hope your dinner was good.
@cbabie Your knee sounds awful. I'm sorry about that. Can you still listen to the cassettes? Do you have a player? That's fun that you found one of your dad preaching. I wonder what the infusion is for. I hope you get that call about the MRI soon. Yes, I have been quite annoyed this week lol. And on top of that, I can't drink coffee this morning or eat anything. I just want to relax, too. Oh my, an EEG with a baby, that would be hard.
@theslightedgeforever Ah I see. That must have been nice to sit and read. No, the holter was not fun. Some of the electrodes came off and I had to randomly place them back on. I guess I should have called them but I didn't want them to tell me to come in. I hope I can get through the tests, too. Ooh a trip, fun! I hope you are going somewhere exciting. You went to the gym for 30 mins, that's great. That's good you did your walking club. That's a long day for your daughter. No, waiting is no fun.
Hi all. Today's medical appointment is a nuclear stress test that lasts 3-4 hours. I'm groggy because I can't have any caffeine, not even decaf coffee or decaf tea. I'm ready for the weekend already.
Water yesterday: 87.3 oz
My phrase for the year: "New year, new me!"0 -
@theslightedgeforever I’m sorry about the foot. I know how hard it is to be active with an injury. Good job on the walking. Have fun while you are traveling. @trooworld That’s hard not having caffeine. The weekend is close and you can do the things you like. Hi, all. DS in in NYC so DH and I are on our own. I have leftovers for dinner tonight. Yesterday my SIL came over and cut our grass and used the leaf blower to get the pine straw off the driveway. He’s really good to us.
0 -
@fabgeekmom It is. I drink a lot of caffeine, too. It's nice to not have to cook. That's really nice of your SIL.
Hi all. I have an appt with my primary care doctor to see about getting a cortisone shot for my knee as it still bothers me. I haven't been to the zoo in many months because of my knee and I'm hoping I can get back to going on a regular basis. We are going to see a band at this fancy cocktail lounge tonight. I guess I'll have to find something to wear that is on the dressier side. I know we probably won't feel like going when it's closer to leaving but I already bought the tickets. It should be fun.
Water yesterday: 74.8 oz
My phrase for the year: "New year, new me!"0 -
@trooworld I hope the cortisone shots help. It’s frustrating not being able to do the things you enjoy. The band at the fancy cocktail lounge sounds like fun. Hi, all. Today was a busy day. I went swimming and then went with DH to the orthopedic doctor. Everything looks good and he got the bandage and splint removed. He also got a more comfortable boot to wear. Since we were near the outpatient hospital I went for a blood test that one of my doctors ordered. Dinner was steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. I decided to cook the steaks under the broiler and set the smoke detector on. It took a while for it to stop when I put the exhaust fan on and DH opened a door. I had decided not to tell DS, but he called me and said he got a message from Siri that an alarm was on. So I had to tell him. Everything was okay, though. Just scary hearing the alarm!0
-
@trooworld I hope these are the last of your tests. I would hate to have to go without caffeine. I've done that nuclear stress test. Did you go out and enjoy the band? I'm that way sometimes asking myself why did I commit to an event when really I just want to stay home. LOL Have you been tracking your food?
@fabgeekmom Too bad your chef is gone. lol Thank God for leftovers. I have set off the alarm cooking turkey burgers. I was here in this apartment last year and I kept thinking oh no what if the sprinklers go off. Now I just airfry them. No smoke.
@cbabie I was thinking maybe your tore your ACL in your knee or the meniscus.
I'm leaving tomorrow and will be gone for 2 weeks so my check ins will be spotty. Sometimes I'm so busy I just plain forget. I went to the gym yesterday and today. Today was treadmill and weights. My body is tired. I couldn't get all my reps in for my 2 sets. I was getting about 1 1/2 sets. But I lifted to muscle failure so there's that. Today right when I went to turn on my Apple watch for a workout I noticed it was dead. So my walking club will get another low number. I'm going to post a dead battery gif since I can't talk and make my excuses. lol My goal is to maintain my weight the next two weeks.0
