    Good Morning;

Annie, it is a sad journey. I don't know if I told you this story. I was about 13, and the family cat Smokey, who looks like Lisa's Egg, was pacing, and his tale was swinging a certain way. I looked in his dish to see if he had food. I saw my grandma's teeth soaking in his water dish. Grandma walked by, asking if I took her teeth. I said no, but Smokey was mad that her teeth were in his water bowl. I laughed so hard that I couldn't breathe, and she laughed too. I reminded her to rinse her teeth out well before putting them in.
It got worse; my aunt Dawn left Grandma alone, and she caught the bus, and Grandma was lost at Venice Beach. They don't know what they are doing. It is a tough job, Annie. You may need to look into staying at home. Which is a service where someone can come out and help care for your dad. I don't know if your dad is open to strangers caring for him. My mom refused to let them help her and hid in her room. I paid 16 dollars an hour for them to talk on the phone and watch TV. Caring for our parents is a challenging process, my friend.

Debbie, I love the work you are doing to save those cats. That is how we got our first family cat. I love the thought of a catio. Can you send some pics of it with the cats?

I admire every one of you, and I am learning so much. I have learned that decluttering isn't so daunting. I realized that moving your body can be fun and that finding your niche is up to us. Have a great weekend, ladies.

I will take some pictures and post of the catios.

My mother in law demanded that we hire help because she said my husband wasn't doing anything/enough for her(he is there twice a day every single day for at least an hour but usually 2-3 hrs each time) plus does all her shopping, bill paying, takes her to her appointments.
The first lady dh found in the corner shaking on the second morning. MIL had turned the tv up all the way, wouldn't let her turn it down, was yelling at her. All because when MIL was talking *kitten* about dh the lady didn't agree with her- she couldn't get out of there fast enough.
We didn't hire anyone for 2 yrs- just hired the second one. The lady was supposed to help her cook. MIL knew that so got up really early that morning and cooked the curry so there was nothing for the lady to help her with then got mad that the lady didn't do anything. She has been there three times- the third time dh gave her a list of some light housework to do. The rest of the time she just sat on her phone. MIL said she even took a nap. While being paid $25 an hour. If we had hired her through an agency, we would be paying $45 an hour!! and minimum of 5 hr shifts.

Pip – family can sometimes be real winners. I hope, too, they never have to deal with someone having MS. You are a much better person helping the way you do.

Just got back from the UPS store. We mailed a lot of furs that MIL had to PETA. They then distribute them to the refugees in Afghanistan and Iraq. If someone can use them…. They are so very pretty, but I know that there’s no way I can wear them.

Lisa – you poor dear. Well, try to look on the bright side….with your tooth hurting you won’t feel like eating! But glad you got that beef jerky out

Ginny – I missed the troll, too (boo)

Lisa – what a fantastic looking home you have. Do you happen to have a picture of what it looked like when you first bought it?

    Annie – Huge HUG

Rita – Vince is the same way. When he goes to a new doctor, he just prints out all his medical info and just says “see attached” on the form. They never give you enough room, anyway. The hospital really liked that he had everything written down

Allie – when I have a sinus headache, I usually take a decongestant and that relieves it. Yes, it makes me dry in the mouth, but that’s a small price to pay

Mo – one of the ways I can tell when my sinuses are acting up is that I feel my teeth hurting. I didn’t realize that sinuses could affect teeth until the dentist took an x-ray and said that that was the cause of my pain

Planning to make a chocolate banana bundt cake tomorrow. Now to go get the marinade ready for the salmon and the pork chops for Vince to grill either tomorrow or sunday.

My mom is back at her apartment. The problem was medications she was given by different doctors that combined, was not a good thing! A reminder to keep track of all medications different doctors give you and make sure they don’t conflict. I have a note on my phone with all my meds, surgeries, diagnosis, and allergies on it. I give it to every new doctor I go to. They love it as it is comprehensive and gives them information that helps for any new treatments to be given. Also, look up all your meds and supplements online to see if there are any complications or things you should look for. Here is one site that can help you with it:
https://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.html I have used it in the past and helped me to decide which pills to split up between night and morning.

I have both my husband's and my medications available on the phone, as well as my list of allergies. I'm allergic to several medications including penicillin and a number of other antibiotics.

I use drugs.com as my main checker and also https://reference.medscape.com/drug-interactionchecker

    Hello, my chickens...

I'm using you to kill time because I'm to the inside pocket zipper stage on the bag I'm working on, and my 3-D capability brain got up and left the room. She'll come back eventually, once she gets done with her snit, but in the meantime, I figured I'd talk to y'all.

Barbara AHMOD - I know you're wonderfully pleased that the redwood volunteered! You may remember that I noted the mulberry tree Corey bought me for my birthday decided to do it's best impression of a stick? Well, the little thing actually CAME BACK. Corey just broke off the top, rather than pulling the whole root - and it started again. You can see it a month or so ago and then how it looked yesterday in the pics I put in earlier in the week. It's under the window at center house. SO pleased. My redbud that got knocked down by the FedEx driver was looking pretty pitiful, but it's pushed up suckers all the way around, so it might come back as well! You can see it next to the carriage lamp in my spoiler on page 6.

Oh - and the call with the hematologist went fine this morning, they see me now as "stable," and I am no longer anemic. Still want to see me in 3 months, though, and I'm fine with that. Not sure if I mentioned, but I've struggled on and off with anemia for nearly 40 years. Thought when I was younger that it was due to heavy periods, but apparently it's just part of my makeup now. I take iron in the morning and at noon. Back to Rita's drug interactions, I can't take my iron close to my thyroid med, so I take that at night, and iron during the day. Also take added vitamin C for iron absorption.

OK - time to get a couple things accomplished before it gets to warm.

    Later, my babies,
    Love,

When I'm struggling to figure something out, that's when I like to go for a walk, climb stairs (if I'm at work), or go for a bicycle ride. I find that stepping away from the situation and getting the blood flowing helps a lot and I've often come back to my desk with a couple ideas to try with my SQL code or a plan for a tricky bit of garden or whatever.

Plants are amazing! They've got great survival techniques.

I'm the other way with my iron levels. Despite heavy periods and excessively frequent periods (caused by polyps and precancer), my iron levels remained borderline high. Now that I'm finished with my periods, I have been debating about starting to donate blood.

A well-meaning doctor (who hadn't checked my blood) once suggested I take iron for fatigue ... big ol' no! I tried it and was just about crippled. I also have to be careful with Vit C.

Today we went to a bee festival. It was held about an hour from where we live and gave us the chance to see my husband's sister for a little bit too.

We were impressed with the number of people out to the festival and the number of booths with bee-related products and information. Picked up a few things, of course!

When we got home, we attended a natural beekeeping webinar which was really interesting.

Although we don't have bees at the moment, when we have had them (and when we get them again), we are natural beekeepers.

We're slowly getting back to life in Tasmania again although I think I am still suffering from jet lag.

And I'm slowly getting back to eating normally again!

We got to Canada, and of course, I headed straight for the Tim Horton's donuts and DQ Blizzards. Until very recently, the only donuts we've had here have not been good at all ... easy to ignore. Now we've got better donuts, but they're a bit over the top. I like Tim Horton's donuts.
And we don't have Blizzards here.
Then I was sampling Reece's Peanut Butter Cups and Cheezies. Again, we don't have those things in Tasmania.
And there were butter tarts, date squares and nanaimo bars, which we don't have in Tasmania.
And we ate out several times with the monster servings that Canadian restaurants feel they need to produce.

All very delicious but not good for the weight or the digestive system. My digestive system freaked out several times like it was yelling, "What are you feeding me?!?"

We also ate beef (because my parents are big into red meat), and my digestive system didn't appreciate that at all! It staged a protest.

My weight is dropping a bit since we've been back, and my digestive system is more settled now.

Michelle (Ala) love the Cairn Terrier.

Watched a you tube interview on the importance of nitrous oxide for our bodies last night. Because it is a gas their is no reliable test for it. If you are low in it symptoms may show you are low in it. Vascular issues and high blood pressure (anything over 120/80) are two such symptoms... Why it is so important is it keeps our vascular system healthy. Unhealthy think heart attack, dementia, stroke. Age can also be a factor in low levels.

Ways to keep levels up...diet. Beets and dark green veggies think spinach, arugula...Remove over processed food from your diet...Breathing through your nose...hence the mouth taping and breath strips at night for me...exercise -resistant training and activities that get your heart pumping.

Two habits that decrease nitrous oxide...over use of mouthwash and Fluoride... I chew on cloves or rinse with a solution of baking soda and water if I want to freshen my breath...I haven't used Fluoride toothpaste in years... I filter my water to remove Fluoride. Often bad breath is a sign of trouble in your gut. My DH had this and would not believe me what a problem it was. I believe if he had addressed this his cancer might have been avoided and or easier to manage. The problem with mouth wash and fluoride is they disrupt the microbiome in your mouth. Chinese believe a healthy mouth is a healthy you. They also discussed the effects of low grade infections in your mouth. If you have had a root canal, so far I have not, it is important to monitor that tooth or teeth because the blood supply and nerves are gone and if an infection is going on it that tooth you will not feel it nor blood cannot get to that area to combat the infection. If there is a silent infection and it is properly treated it can make a tremendous difference in your health.

The number one culprit that causes tooth issues cavities and gum disease is sugar. I have drastically cut my sugar consumption.
