Mo to answer your other question, have I always been active: well kinda, there were some times in my life when I wasn’t.
When I was in school, I was REALLY skinny, kinda looked anorexic so I was eating to get bigger. When I left home at 19, I found that I was a late bloomer, started getting little boobs and a butt. Throughout my 20s and early 30s that was my drinking and drug days, the drugs kept me skinny but I remember going to aerobics classes and doing a little bit of running then. After I left husband #2 I ballooned up, I got big, depression and loss of family did that. Mid 30’s I was with husband #3 (the one who passed away) and I became an aerobics instructor, I was a real hard body then. After he passed, depression came back with a vengeance along with suicidal thoughts and I stopped working out and my biggest was 198 lbs. that’s was when I met the man that I’m with now. After being in bed for about 5 years, I snapped out of it and he started getting me on a bicycle, he was already a big bike rider when I met him. Slowly got back into exercising and am back to the way I was in my 30s. The only major difference now is I do longer distance running, like marathons and longer distance bike riding, both I never thought I would do. Oh and eat continually healthier (using a scale). I just do MFP now out of habit really, not because I need to. Here’s a fat pic of me back in probably 1997 or ‘98 I think. There’s a pic of what I look like now body wise.

Gratitudes:
Thursday: When Mooch was running toward the closing garage door, I yelled “Mooch, no!” and he turned around and ran back to me away from the danger of getting squished.
Wednesday: Joe met neighbors walking their dogs. Shadow was well-behaved and they were able to chat.
Machka, when I read “I figure I have about 10 years of work left…” my first thought was that I have at least 10 years of decluttering work left to do. Your “almost ready” to let go of clothing from the past despite good memories resonates. I’m not quite ready to let go of the patchwork jeans jacket that I loved to death or the little white windbreaker with a red cross, worn during the 1969 People’s Park Riots. Neither is fit for donating. Putting in the trash would really hurt. You’re wise to be wary of the more closet space trap.
Heather I love the idea of a memory box. I could put those there, with other things that I can’t bear to part with, and revisit when I’m feeling sentimental. I really have gotten a lot out of Cas’ 30 day challenge, will dip into some others when I need more. Listening to Michael Easter’s “Scarcity Brain” and think it may have application not just to why I always want to eat more (especially sweets), but why I always think I have to buy more (food, paper products, disaster prep supplies)… ;}
Annie 46 minutes on the bike AND CI under CO? Very well done!
Pip SMOOCH that pooch!
Rita sorry you’re feeling sore, hope the doc can fix easily. the ballon fiesta pic.
Lanette “…improvement from staying with it” Boy Howdy that’s the challenge for me. Seems like whenever I get into a rhythm with BB&B or PT exercises, something happens to throw it off/out the window. Rotator cuff tear. Cold. Rib slip. Pfui!
Rebecca glad you’re home safe, missed you and your mouthwatering food porn too! What you said about never having to hunt for anything being a de-stresser. True for me in the kitchen (unless Joe puts the dishes away ;} ) but not true in the craft closet or garage. Guess I know which hot spots to tackle next… Eeuww, we don’t even have a microwave. Food gets reheated in a cast iron skillet or in Pyrex in the oven. Plasticware is for storage, (although I knew a Tupper lady who would cook corn on the cob by pouring boiling water into a large Tupperware bowl. SMH.
Allie that low BP could be really good news. Fingers X’d for the lower dose rX.
Tracey, Oregon banned the plastic grocery bags with handles. You can pay five cents for a paper bag or bring your reusable (heavy plastic or fabric) ones. BUT we still have plastic produce bags. I have a lot of plastic bags saved for picking up poop, not just produce bags but the plastic bag that bread comes in, but nowhere near hundreds…
Barbie hope the chiropractor’s appointment is just routine maintenance and no injury.
Mo how strange and startling that your joint account was closed without you or your DH knowing. Hope it was just some kind of clerical error. ((hugs)) to you for all you do for those littles.
Beth thanks for popping in, was missing you.
Vicki what a shock! ((hugs held extra extra long))
Lisa the hanging quilt panel. Yours to Vicki, especially “hard to see the blessing in a brutal change, but this may have saved your life - they were pushing you awfully hard for an awfully long time.” Truth this.
@terewilliams good to see you popping in Tere! Likewise you @poerava14 Rori!
Evelyn, karma indeed

Boiling water on raw corn? Reminds me of that 1980's movie "Wargames" where the Realtor mom decides to serve raw corn on the cob. 😂😂 The father takes a bite nearly choking, "but its raw" he exclaims. "Yes, can't you just taste all the nutrients?", says the wife.... Lol!

My friend G is a bit like this, though she manages to keep public spaces clear most of the time. Her cleaner is helping her and she occasionally hires someone for 'body doubling'. They don't have to do much, just be a non-critical presence. She still has a big garage full of boxes from moving 10 years ago. I don't volunteer to help as I would lose my temper, I'm sure, even though I'm sympathetic. It would remind me too much of my mum.
These are my two big memory boxes. A lot, I know, but the stuff is confined and manageable. I love having them and taking an occasional trip down memory lane.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx
There's a fine line between organized, and hoarding. The minimalists say if you just take all the stuff and put it in tubs its called organizational hoarding. Your 2 tubs is so completely fine though💖. I have my stuff in my grandmas cedar hope chest. I have smaller boxes inside. It is nice to just open the chest and get out this or that. I think the most important thing is that its easily accessible.👍🏼

Hey, kiddos,
Did it, did it, did it! Woot! Not to the level that I WILL, but to a level where I was at least willing to post it where people can see it. I posted my first YouTube video today! My video editing skills are at the baby steps level... and my first one was literally one minute and 28 seconds, so we're not talking great content here, but I'm so pleased to get anything up and running.
So, my vague pronouncements re: my procrastination project were that I've been teaching myself video editing for about a month now. Shooting the videos is easy... it's taking them apart and putting them back together again with music, etc., that's hard. There's a reason why the first one is so short! 👀😹😂
Anyway, that's what the entire morning was spent doing... and makes more sense of what one of the youtubers that I watch noted - that the average ends up at an hour of editing per minute of video. A lot more for me right now, but it will get better.
I thought my brain was going to absolutely break a couple times, but even at 64, I CAN still learn new things. I will post one later, when they're in better shape and I'm more pleased with the versions I'm posting. Hope it's been a good day for you, too... I'm going to go do something pointless (OK, MORE pointless... 😹) and relax.
Later,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Today’s gratitude: Mooch came back from the lane when Joe called him. Somehow he got out from our fenced yard, Did he jump the fence/gate? Maybe…
Heather thank you so much for the Minimalist Mom YouTube. Saved it to watch later.
Rebecca I remember that scene!
Lisa no fair, we want to see your first YouTube as it is now!!!
Decluttering challenge Day (missed)16/30 Junk Drawer16-don’t really have a junk drawer, it’s distributed throughout many. BUT something uncanny happened this morning before breakfast. Was looking to see if any popsicle sticks in the miscellaneous crafts drawer. Need ‘em for a sink repair project, ‘nother story. There weren’t any, and I vaguely remember donating them. BUT I found myself decluttering this drawer. Donating the green, Recycling or trashing the red. Keeping the blue. Could this be sign of subconscious mindset change? Naaaah .Somehow this morning’s declutter frenzy, chiropractor appointment, Dollar Tree, Grocery Outlet and Freddie’s shopping wars have exhausted me. Heading for a nap.

Vicki ~ Hugs, Hugs, and more Hugs! When I reached my 31 yr mark of teaching for my county, I felt utterly utterly hopeless when the county was intent on moving long term teachers out for newer ones with less money. But, God had a plan, and I have done fine. At this point, I do not miss my life there as it was such a an important part of who I was, but now I see that there were many other avenues that I could have explored and excelled in.

Well, we got all the ceramics into the garage. I’m hoping that tomorrow we can get them all put away. There are three that need to be fixed, two of them mine. Vince wants to wait for next year, but I want them done now so that next year we are all ready to go. I thought it would take more work to take them in, but it really wasn’t that bad. I’m thinking that putting them out is what is the hard part.
Made brownies for Vince. Found this recipe for “mississippi Mud brownies” which calls for marshmallows so I’m giving it a try.
I tell you, the kitties are pretty smart (when they want to be). The minute I’m cooking, they’re right there. You know “something may drop”. Yesterday I dropped a mushroom, it got well sniffed at but not eaten….lol
Vicki – I agree with Lisa – this turn of events may very well have saved your life. Looks like God was looking out for you. His plan is always the best plan even if we don’t understand it. Hey, it took me almost 35 years to figure out why He took my mother when I was so young. You may never understand why He had this happen, but know that He had a good reason.
Saw Lynette today, we talked about the house. She was telling me that she was going to put in a retractable clothes Line “for when we have pool parties”. We’ve known her for 15 years and only once have we been invited to her house. And she’s going to have pool parties? I don’t think so. The house is heated with a heat pump. I guess she doesn’t realize that when it gets really cold, the heat pump doesn’t do much. My neighbor has only a heat pump and we had a very cold spell a few years ago. She went and stayed with her son. Well..she’ll find out. She should really ask about the septic, like when was it last pumped out? And the water well...how deep is it, how old is it? She said she’d invite us over right after they have the closing while the house is still empty. That I can believe. She wants to change the stove from gas (propane) to electric. Why? She doesn’t cook much. But not my house. There is a three car detached garage. She was telling me that one bay will be storage.
Annie – I always find chinese food to be easy to order. I usually get a shrimp salad without the dressing.
Vince finished straightening the posts for the “fence”. I feel sorry for him, three times he had to sit down and rest. He did take in the ceramics he has to do like the lighthouse (because it’s wired in so the light works), the flamingos since he has a special way of doing the legs, and a few others, then he had to sit down
Pip – Is that REALLY you? I don’t recall, how did you and Kirby meet?
OK, Lisa, - can you post the link for your video. I’d love to see it. Congrats on getting it done
Made an appt for Vince and me to get the flu vaccine Monday after bowling. Do you know that I can’t get the RSV vaccine because I’m too healthy? Vince can because he has asthma, but I can’t. To me this was just funny...you can’t get a vaccine because you’re too healthy
Allie – which sleep machine do you have? Can’t wait until I’m eligible for a new machine. I want one that uses the cell network, not WiFi
Going to take a shower then to bed. Good thoughts for everyone.

After Lenny died, my old boss came to California to pack me up and bring me back to Washington again. I eventually was hired as a bartender at a local bar because I was there all the time anyway. I became friends with a girl named Karen who lived across the street from the bar. She always tried to keep me busy and keep my mind off of my grief so she was always having me tag along with her. One day she told me to go with her to Fremont, (we were living in Seattle right by lake union) to do laundry. There was a bar by the laundry mat was the dock (still there) and we went in to have a beer while the wash was going. Kirby was kitting at the bar. I guess a mutual friend of theirs had introduced them and I guess it didn’t work out (date wise) but they were still friendly so she invited him to sit with us and there you go. 3 weeks later I left to Indiana with him.
Another fat pic of me, this is the shape I was when we met so he never had known a skinny me. He had long hair when I met him, he was a looker back then too.

Dinner yesterday was shrimp cocktail and shrimp/basil in olive oil on spaghetti. DH made the cocktail sauce from scratch using horseradish powder. Worked really well.
Went to doctor for my back yesterday. I have a slipped disk and an unstable spinal cord (has a fancy name for the disease but can’t spell it yet.) MRI ordered and a back brace I’m supposed to get but am trying to decide if I want that. Therapy to be scheduled as well. Oh, well, if it’s not one thing, it’s another! Oh yeah, I’m going to get an ultrasound for my kidneys next week. I’m beginning to be tired of doctors!!

Lisa - your YouTube channel sounds exciting. Please let us know when it gets up and running. I can spend hours watching different "how-to's" and lately, there have been a lot of "boots on the ground" reports by citizens in N. Carolina and other areas damaged by the hurricanes. Plus, the ads aren't that obnoxious, and are tailored more to my interest.
Pip - I think it's terrific that you've had 2 great guys in your life - Lenny and Kirby. Talking about Fremont, I used to work for an accountant on Nickerson just a block from the Fremont Bridge and also for a seafood distributor over at Fisherman's Terminal. Left there in '94. Funny you move back to Indiana and get a job in Nappanee close to where I used to work at an RV place just west of town a few years earlier. Left there in '77. It's amazing how you followed me around (sort of. ) Small world.
Rita - your supper looks delish. How did you get a slipped disc? Hope it heals soon!
Sunny here today, a lot to do outside if it dries off enough.
Make it a fabulous weekend ladies!

Wondering where Terri is . She was travelling to Oxford to help her granddaughter move. Hope everything went OK.
My brother has been out in the car , but is still having difficulty swallowing. He sounded cheerful enough.
Lisa - You are braver than me to venture into YouTube. I've had a yearning to do something, but I don't think it will happen. Too much work and I understand it's a difficult world. Good luck 👍
Tomorrow is lunch party with the family. I always get a bit nervous as it's me who's organising it and ensuring the birthday candles come out. I will wear my new top from Boden.
I'm having the occasional niggle, which I hope won't develop into a UTI. Drinking a lot. Fed up with this.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxx2 -

Wow that’s funny. When we lived in Indiana, we were at Syracuse by lake wawasee over there. I ended up working for an attorney in napanee. Kirby would take me and my bike to work and he would ride his bike over to pick me up and I would ride my bike back home, that was the beginning of my bike riding thanks to him. I was dying back then. If I was to do that route now it would be a breeze. We also worked for Gulf Stream where they made those RV’s. I did follow you.

My dear hearts...
Thanks for the interest, but as Lanette says, I promise I will put a link up to my channel when I'm ready, when I feel the content is strong enough to withstand a few comments. OK, and when I feel I can handle a few comments on it, too!
Heather - I had hours of complete panic, and genuinely thought I might not have enough of my intellect remaining to learn ANYthing about video editing. It was like slamming myself into a brick wall over and over again, and just watching my battered little ego collapse over and over. Talking to my sis and realizing that she was having the struggles helped out some, and then, I had to really poke my own little psyche and convince myself to step back, take a big, deep breath and remember who I am...
I know many folks have struggles with technology, but I was lucky in that I never did. I think that was part of the problem - I couldn't understand why I wasn't understanding... I started working with web design in 1998, with no training, just learning it as I went. By that time, I had already learned graphic design programs, database designs, Photoshop, Excel, innumerable word processing programs, and learned them on the fly, with very little formal training of any kind. What I finally remembered was that this is just another software program, and in fact, I had a lot less riding on it than was always riding on it in the past. That set of memories finally diminished my panic level to the point that I could think about all this very differently. What I realized, finally, was that what I was missing wasn't the knowledge of how to operate an unfamiliar program, it was the vocabulary of video editing.
I know you are capable of learning whatever is necessary IF you decide you want to do it. Good grief, woman, you're learning French and other languages on a constant basis! That's something I wouldn't even contemplate... This is just another language, with cognates and other bits that is very much within your reach. Pretty sure you couldn't do it on a tablet, though. Well, I couldn't.
and...
Speaking of technology, I just heard a thump and went and checked... and Corey fell asleep in the bath and gave his Kindle a good ducking. I'll be checking prices on Amazon for a replacement... bless him, he's totally embarrassed. He's never done that before, but he did a whole lot of work today, and just dozed off... I may look for a tray that goes across the bathtub while I'm at it!
Later, my dears,
Love,
Lisa

Allie – I have the Resvent, too. Vince has the Phillips (which is no longer being made). Have an absolutely wonderful trip! The first time it went off, I thought there was a ghost in the house!
Rita – good luck at the doc’s. I know you’ll make the right decision about the back brace. Is it going to be a custom fitted one?
Got all but the two ceramics up that Vince needs to repair. Bet that’ll take a while for him to do, he’s such a procrastinator. Mark my words, it won’t get done until we put them out next year.
Went to the Green Room to see “Dracula..a Comedy of Horror”. It WAS funny

Mo - I could never do the job you do. What a blessing you are.
The Northern Lights are dancing right now more than usual because of some solar flares and stuff happening. I was at ceramics tonight and missed the peak.
Vicki - I’m so sorry about your job.
Barbara - I think like me you have limited space. I think is storage in everything I get. My biggest amount of memories are in my hope chest.
I really need to get rid of some more stuff.
We’ve cooked corn on the cob in a cooler one time when camping. Poured boiling water over it closed the lid and had it to eat in a half hour. It was actually no different than boiling it.
Lisa - congrats on the video. Will we be able to find it?
You could try rice for 2-3 weeks I did save one once. Then you would have a back up. I keep thinking of one of those trays myself.
Rita - So sorry you are having a run of health issues
I seem to struggle to keep up on Thursday’s and Friday’s. Thursday is ceramics and this week my catch up time had Northern Lights, the. Last night I fell asleep on the couch.😳
Today, Rodger and I took out the old dishwasher and installed the “new to us” one. There was probably an extra 3ft of
drain and we think that is why the pumps keep failing. We put a new 1” diameter and hose that was exactly the right length. Hopefully this one works for a long time to come. We did this without one frustrated word towards the other. I think that’s a first for a project in 37 years. 😂
While we had under the sink cleaned out we took the opportunity to fix my tap that hasn’t been installed properly for way too long.
Tonight I have Michaela and Aspen here. Chase is staying with Jonah overnight. Their Mama is at Kaitlyn and Brodey’s Friendsgiving. Tomorrow they will all be here for Thanksgiving dinner. Thankfully it’s a 3 day weekend for me.
We had homemade pizza for supper, I let the girls make their own. Aspen’s is on the right. She loves cheese 😂. Michaela said “I mean, I love cheese too, but that’s too much”.
Tomorrow the girls and I are going shopping at the Dollar Tree, returning some bottles and making pies and dinner.
Lauryn just sent me a message that Jonah has another friend also spending the night. Michaela would have been feeling left out at home.
I need to get these monkeys to bed soon. They are already up late.
Hopefully it’s nice and we can also pull some flowers out of my garden.
