WOW! Yall did great on your races! and AG placements @Scott6255 and @AlphaHowls! AH you look awesome!!! I think it was last year you ended up injured but you look fit and strong and perfect!!! 👏👏👏👏👏 And wow @quilteryoyo you really stepped up for that 10 mile workout. I think you are going to really rock your Dec race with all this training.
Nice to SEE you @polskagirl01 That's a huge pumpkin!
I am at 78 out of 150 miles for the month. Not particularly motivated for some reason altho the weather is pretty perfect for running. I think my problem is I keep looking at my miles for Oct and 2023 and feel pressure to do more which is having the opposite effect? I did 200 miles last year. 🤷♀️😳
Need to check out the link Scott posted earlier.
forgot to say I finally got some of my favorite heavenly blue morning glories blooming. Only they are in the TOP of my desert willow tree.. hahahah So hard to get a close up picture of them. But they are the most amazing color.5 -

The weather was perfect for my long run this morning and I ran 11 miles. It was about 57° when I started and around 74° when I got home. It was nice and cool for most of the run, and really was just starting to warm up as I finished. I did see the dog in the cemetery again today. She followed me to the park. But then went home. At least now I know who she belongs to. I did have a woman in a pickup roll through a stop sign and turn (without using her blinker). Luckily she saw me at the last minute, but it was kind of scary. She did roll her window down and apologize, but I was glad I was paying attention because she sure wasn't. Otherwise I was a beautiful morning and a great run.

Great running @AlphaHowls !. Congrats on your AG placement. Sounds like you did great pacing yourself.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA .
Thanks @SummerSkier ! I hope you are right. I think you are doing great with your running. What is that saying about comparisons? "Comparison is the thief of joy." That applies to ourselves in years/months/days past as well as others. Having said that, I hope you can find your motivation and joy in running again. Those are beautiful morning glories!
Nice running @Mari33a .
Nice run @kgirlhart . I'm glad you were paying attention and didn't get hit!
I had a busier than normal Sunday, but managed to get out and do a mile walk on the driveway after I got home.
Brings me to 58.3/80.0 mile goal.

Morning everyone.
I'm at my mother's for the week... <<Gulp!>>
Got in 7.49M at 10"38.
Good to see you back @ContraryMaryMary6 -
Great job with the AG finishes @Scott6255 and @AlphaHowls!
@Scott6255 I’m glad to hear your brother seems to be healing well. If he wants to run I hope he is able to find a way back to it.
@kgirlhart Head on a swivel! Glad you saw her coming.5 -

This weekend my husband and I went to eastern OK for my brother’s wedding. It’s a really pretty area and not what I think of OK as looking like. Mountains and trees, more like what you see in AR. The wedding was at a state park and most of the guests were camping or staying in cabins around the area. We took my camper van and camped. It was my husband’s first time camping with me. He had to admit it was pretty glampy and seemed to enjoy it. I don’t expect he will suddenly want to camp all the time, but maybe he would be more open to the occasional trip. That’s fine by me. Camping is also my alone time and something I like doing by myself so I wouldn’t want him there all the time anyway.
The wedding was lovely. My brother seems very happy and I’m happy for him. They headed out on a little road trip afterwards. They were supposed to be headed towards Asheville, but made some last minute changes and went to Tennessee instead.
I ran on Saturday. The park is really small so I left the park and ran in the nearby town. Getting out of the park involves going down a pretty steep and quite long (maybe 0.5-0.75 mile) mountain road. My legs were done with the downhill by the time I got to the bottom. We also had to walk down and back up a small but pretty steep hill to go to the bathrooms so my legs are kind of sore still. But the run went fine. Conditions were great and the pace set by the coach was a little faster than my super easy pace but not very fast overall. Garmin still only gave me a 60% execution score because the hill at the beginning and end kept me outside of the pace range and it isn't smart enough to account for extreme grade changes.I was supposed to run yesterday but with the drive back and getting life ready for the coming week, I didn’t have time. Headed out this morning for a few miles though.7 -

Just a short 1mi RWR yesterday, testing different ratios. Despite the 30s walking intervals Strava reports my average running speed is showing an increase… bizarre, and interesting.
I need to find some hills with the right inclination for when that turns up in the program, so I will do a bit of walking and measuring in the meantime!
Great job with your races, @Scott6255 and @AlphaHowls!5 -
Enjoy spending time with your mom @tarun_yadavA .
It sounds like you enjoyed the wedding @martaindale . I'm glad your husband enjoyed the adventure too. Those hills are brutal. You would think Garmin would figure out how to include elevation changes in it's assessment. You did great. Glad your run today went well too.
@AmunahSki Jeff says if you do his method correctly you'll increase your pace and not be as sore or worn out after a long run. I haven't really seen the speed results yet, but am pretty slow overall anyway. Sounds like you are doing it right.2 -

"State" came to daycare for assessment today, so I went into work at 8. I heard that we got a score of 97/100, so the daycare did great. I didn't get up early enough to make it to the gym and have a workout beforehand.
I had to have my fingerprints taken for the daycare 5 year background check. About 3 hours after I got home, I got a call that said I'd have to get them done again because of poor quality of the ones they did today. You remember the difficulty I had getting them for my new military ID a few weeks ago. I wish they would just share data, but they won't.
After I got home, I did tomorrow's planned drill workout since it was nice out (72F/22.2C, sunny, no breeze). I got to over 200 spm for all four cadence drills. Overall, the running was at an average pace of 12:41 min/mile. Avg HR was 144 with a max of 164 bpm.
I had to laugh when I looked at the Jeff Galloway comments on my run from Saturday. Every other run has given me a performance rating of "Good Job." I hit all the wrong buttons when doing my long run (scheduled for 10 min warm up, 10 mile run, 10 min cool down) and wound up with Garmin thinking that I only did 0.54 miles of the 10+ scheduled workout. My rating was "Room to Grow." Ya think?

Good morning people! Hope everyone is doing well. We’re experiencing some lovely Fall weather here in SW Virginia/NE Tennessee. The temperature was 41F when I ran this morning and we’re expecting highs in the 70s all week. The leaves on the trees are turning so the mountains are an array of red, orange and green. This morning, my friend and I chose to run the hilly route here in town. We had not done that in a while but I did better than I expected.
Congrats on the high ratings at daycare @quilteryoyo. If they had rated you alone, I’m sure you would have gotten a 100/100!
5 -
Nice easy run this morning @tarun_yadavA .
Thanks @Teresa502 . Great run this morning. Those hills do make a difference. The leaves are looking really pretty this year. I'm going to be doing a bit of leaf looking today as my mom, 2 aunts, and neighbor are going to go to the Barter Theater for their matinee show this afternoon.
4 -
How could the daycare fail with a ringer like you @quilteryoyo! 😁
That weather sounds wonderful @Teresa502. Meanwhile here in Texas we are expecting 90+ for the next few days.
Got out for a 4.2 mile run this morning. Made myself go slow, and slow it was. But it still felt really hard.
7 -
It's warming up here again in Austin but no 90's in the forecast and lows in the 60's feels great compared to 70's.
I was thinking about how to increase your pace and honestly over the past 45 years or so my pace has not gotten better only a little worse with age. The only things that I can do in a specific run are to increase my cadence by listening to tempo music over 180 BPM.
Yesterday we were playing tennis and altho over the last few months my neighbor and I have managed rallies with combined hits over 100, the session was not going all that great. So right at the end I said, "hey how about we try for 40?" and then we ended up doing a new best of 110 strokes. Possibly the pressure of trying to get over 100 was causing us to fail. I feel the same about other large tasks which loom and sometimes just accepting a smaller goal seems to make things go better.
Probably not going to hit my 150 for the month but I am OK with it as long as I keep running and don't decide it's WAY too hard and quit.
6 -
@quilteryoyo - Which show did you see at the Barter?
@Scott6255 - You ran hard this weekend which probably explains why today's run was hard. Hoping you get some Fall weather soon!
@SummerSkier - I agree with your theory about our pace slowing as we age. I'm sure there are exceptions to that rule but I'm not one of them!6 -
So yesterday we had our first snowfall and sub-zero day at -5c/23f. Brrrr....
Did a 4k to see how things were like. After a whole summer, I've forgotten how to dress for cold

Thanks @Scott6255 . Nice slow run. Sorry it was a hard one. Those temps are amazing this time of year.
Great tennis @SummerSkier . I sat beside of a couple from Austin TX today at the play. Small world.
@Teresa502 We saw "The Play That Goes Wrong." We really enjoyed it. It's funny and a bit silly at times. It reminded me a lot of Carol Burnette and Tim Conway's skits.
@WarmJellyfish I think I would know how to dress for those conditions - shorts and head to the basement for a treadmill run. I applaud you for running in the cold.
Glad you are enjoying the break in long mileage @martaindale .5 -

I got up this morning and went out for a driveway run before heading out for the day. I thought it was pretty chilly at 42F/5.6C. I walked 0.35 miles for warm up, 4x(0.30/0.15 miles run/walk), wun the rest (true wun - only ran to keep my HR above 110 bpm. ) I felt like I was running really slowly, so was surprised when I figured the average pace for the running intervals was 11:52 min/mile.
The sun shinning through the trees this morning made me feel like I was running in a strobe light, which was a little disconcerting. That could also be why I felt like I was running slower. LOL
A couple of pictures from my little day trip are in the spoiler.
Me, mom, and my two aunts.

I'm posting two runs today. I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. We've had really nice weather in the mornings. It was about 63° yesterday and today. It's been warming up to the 90's in the afternoon, but morning has been very nice. Yesterday I ran 3.1 miles. It was a pretty good run, but kind of stinky. There was a fire nearby. I could smell smoke and saw some fire trucks heading east, but don't know where they were going. And I smelled a couple of skunks and there seemed to be a lot of stinky trash cans out. Today I ran 6 miles and it wasn't stinky. I love when it is cool enough to feel cool, but not too cool to wear shorts and a tank top. The sky was also really clear and the stars seemed extra bright this morning.

I have a very tight schedule today with meetings, community presentation for breast cancer awareness month, my doctor’s appt and a lot of errands so gotta get moving.

Still running too fast for my current stamina. Sigh. Need to somehow slow down 😅 But I won't get my stamina up and running (ha!) anyway because I'll have surgery in 5 weeks. Nothing bad, but I won't be able to exercise for a while thereafter. Thus I'm trying to improve stamina a bit, in order to lose it again 🤣6 -

This morning I ran a tempo run. It was a little warmer than yesterday at 68°, but it wasn't unpleasant. Hal's plan called for a 3.8 mile run in 45 minutes. I hit most of the paces. I was a little faster than he prescribed, but only significantly faster on the warm up and cool down, the rest of the intervals I was pretty close. I finished in 48 minutes with 4.52 miles. I actually finished the tempo run in 45 minutes, but I was about .25 miles from home so I just ran home.
