hello MFP community.
I just wanted to thank everyone for being so supportive and friendly.
Today is day 18 of my fitness journey.
I'm so dialed in that the fat is just falling off. I started my journey at 277 pounds at 5'9 and 50 years of age. Today I weighed in at 263 pounds. I know its mostly water that came off so quickly but my fat percentage is going down also. My water intake is about 3 liters a day and my nutrition consists of mostly whole foods, veggies, a tons of fruit. I am only taking protein powder after the gym as it is an easy way to get some protein in after a workout. But my protein comes mostly from chicken, fish, eggs, and some meat. I am getting close to 1 gram per pound of target body weight.. which is about 170-180 grams of real protein per day. In just 18 days since I started my journey I feel so much better and my sleep is also better... not to mention I am more mobile and my back pain is slowly getting better. Everyday at the end of my day I am grateful for the small wins.. they add up quickly. I am taking it day by day and aiming to lose another 93 pounds in 12 months. I just joined the gym about 8 days ago and have been super consistent with my cardio and resistance training. Today I even started red light therapy to help with my loose skin and stretch marks that I will be dealing with in the future. The weight loss process is easy when you have a solid formula and keep consistent. I am so dialed in and I cannot have it any other way... Even though I am in a deficit I honestly do not feel hungry as my protein intake is high and keeps me satiated throughout the day. I am really enjoying the journey and I am learning so much about myself and my capabilities. I do have a end goal of 170 pounds, but I am already thinking of a new goal once I hit my first goal. In the mean time I have set micro-goals of 10 pound increments. They are small wins but they are manageable and easy to accomplish. Feel free to add me as a friend on here and would love to hear and support your journey. As for what got me to change, it is simple October 6th 2024 I weighed myself and was disgusted that I had let myself go that bad. The next day I went all in. Started with daily walks and eating super healthy. It is never too late to change your bad habits.. I am 50 years of age and I just started my journey. I wish you all the best on your journey and thank everyone on here for being so supportive and friendly. thank you - Martin

Way to go Martin! I'm in a similar situation, pushing for 150lbs, started at 200lbs (5'8"). Funny enough started the same way as you, I weighed myself and though wow I really need to do something about this. I also noticed that even though I'm in deficit I don't really get hungry much anymore, a huge help for sure! I'm currently down to 192 and seeing your positivity really revived my passion for this goal. Congrats on your progress so far, let's keep it going! -Bill4

Excellent progress and seems sustainable.
I am currently maintaining between 145 to 150lbs male 5'7" 147lbs today. I seem to have this thing dialed in because I have been at the same weight for a few weeks now and not very many peaks and valleys anymore. Feels amazing to be at a normal weight!4 -
