I see friend requests in my email and delete them there, but rarely get to that button on MFP. Today I went in to "decline" and clear that out.
Sheesh, there were 9 from one guy, all using different names, but similar photos.
This is not some dating app for catfishing.
Just a small rant this morning.8 -
@Pupowl
Beautiful photos from your walk!
Where is this geographically?
@deepwoodslady
You do walks down to the river, I would love to see some photos of that place.

Great photos!
That show, The Six, sounds really great!
I know that cocktail, we used to call it an Iron Butterfly, and now call it a Mudslide.
Peggy's Cove looks so ethereal with the dense fog.
What a fantastic trip that you had!!
Trips create memories : - )3 -
@baodell17724
Oh, I love Cabbage soup/stew!
I haven't had it in eons.
I must remember to make some this winter.
I like it with bits of hot italian sausage, potatoes, peppers, onions, and caraway seeds in it.3 -
@dawnbgethealthy Thank you! I live in the Netherlands a short bike distance away from a national park called Dwingelderveld. I am very lucky to have nature so close by.3

Hi : - )
I am Dawn.
5'2"
64 years old
Cranbrook, BC, Canada
The most that I have ever lost on one of these 100s is 7lbs.
I am not sure what it is going to take, but I would like to get back to 130 and below.
I started my weight loss journey because my doc threatened to put me on blood pressure medication for the rest of my life. I joined MFP at 198 pounds although I had been heavier than that.
I lost enough weight to chase away high blood pressure, but now the doc is saying that my arthritis in knees, feet, and ankles would benefit greatly by me dropping another 30 pounds. That number used to be 15 pounds, but I have been gaining and gaining these last couple of years.
I am an active person, and eat nutritious food.
Day 01—10/27 — 146.6 - I worked very late last night, I left work at 2am and it was 4:30am when I got to bed. I did get up at 9am and weigh, but realized that I hadn't had nearly enough sleep and went back to my nice warm bed. So this was my better version of weight at 1pm. So far today I have basically done nothing but drink coffee and read comments from this thread. I am sitting here with ice packs on my knees and bad ankle, not really too motivated to do much today. There was public skating today and I don't like to miss it, but I just needed to rest my sore body. Extremely happy to have an entire day off today : - ) I feel like I have truly said goodbye to working 7 days per week since May of this year.
Day 02—10/28 — 147.2 - Only one short 4-hour shift at one of my jobs today, so sort of like a day off. Tomorrow is a day off, but full of appointments - my known weekday off is when I book everything. Hoping that Tuesday next week I have a clear schedule to get out onto the trails.

I am so sorry to hear about your sister's health. My, has she EVER BEEN THROUGH IT! As you know, I am also a breast cancer survivor but she was much more advanced than I. It's a rough road for sure! I will be saying prayers for a complete healing on her new problems. She is a fighter and that is the best medicine!

Previous Rounds Tally & Thoughts:
I am Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired. I mean, I am LITERALLY both Sick with many ailments and Tired of putting myself through this back & forth! I weighed 181.6 on January 1st, 2024. This has not been a good year for me. How much progress I can make in November, December and January is very very questionable, at the very least. Those months are riddled with holidays, baking pies and cakes, making cookies and fudge. Lots of decadent dishes high in calories and carbs. And lots of shopping excursions away from home which always include restaurants and long car rides. So many celebrations including multiple family birthdays as well! These are the hardest months of the year for most of us. But I’m not throwing in the towel just yet!. I will do ALL I can, As I can, When I can. Life is going to happen and I will definitely live it, but there are lots of days where progress can still be made and/or damages can be mitigated. I must stay steadfast and strong in my resolve. This is about my health journey, not just my weight journey. I will not give up based on what month the calendar page is on!

Day 01-10/27-191.6-(Trend weight 192.1) Yesterday was a lazy day of rest. No progress on the scale since yesterday likely due to the extra meal I threw in last night at about 10:30 pm. A turkey and avocado sandwich on low carb / low calorie bread. It was “approved” food but put me over my calorie and carb limit so I’m grateful for no big jump on the scale. Today my son & I will go out-of-town to pick up things for the grandchildren’s “special” Halloween goodie bags. There is a new restaurant that folks are raving about that we will try later for dinner that is just a little further Southeast of that town. I will try to order responsibly and Certainly No Dessert! However, I will still expect a bump up tomorrow due to fluid retention. Not just from the restaurant meal but from all the sitting too. I have those nasty circulation problems which causes the fluids to pool around my ankles and not get pushed out easily. I’ll work on that issue tomorrow when I’m home. Good luck everyone this round. This is the round that can be the most challenging of the entire year due to all the food holidays such as Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Together….anything is possible!
Day 02-10/28-192.2-(Trend weight 192.2) An expected uptick from the travel and new restaurant. It was very nice that my oldest daughter and her partner decided to meet us. Food was good. I brought half home and ate it last night for dinner although it was very late.

Good Morning everyone! Time for another round, and I am excited to see what we can all accomplish with our individual health goals. Mine is basic, lose some lbs, get moving, eat/drink in moderation, better sleep, better choices overall!
I'll use my ending weight from the last challenge for the starting weight:
Start: 10/26 - 164.6
My weight increased by 2 lbs over the past week, pretty sure it was due to some changes in my meds (per doctor). I 'm hoping my body has finished adjusting and I can get back to losing again. Time for a nice brisk walk!
Day 01—10/27— 164.4
Day 02—10/28— 163.8 Better I did well yesterday on the food/drink and steps, happy to see a loss.
Day 03—10/29—
Day 04—10/30—
Day 05—10/31—
Day 06—11/01—
Day 07—11/02—

Yeah, I only used cabbage, onions, peppers.... and because the foodbank gave us a BOX of them, cucumbers!!! LOL Added in Italian Seasoning, Garlic Powder and Red Pepper flakes. (So this version is VERY low-calorie.)

@Lilylady3k Loved seeing your pictures! Happy birthday!
@baodell17724 I love that cabbage soup! I remember the diet craze long ago. In the recipe I have, it's called "Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup!" I make a big batch every few months and put single servings in my freezer. I eat it for lunch once or twice a week. I add Slap Ya Mama seasoning to it to give it a little spicy kick:)
@dawnbgethealthy Love the picture and hair/makeup! I know what you mean about the friend requests from so many guys. It's crazy.
@indoorsy_ Great idea to look at the restaurant menu and nutrition ahead of time. I know that I always make better choices if I choose my meal at home before I get there.
@Pupowl Thank you! It doesn't seem real to be in "onederland." I haven't been under 200 since 1999 except for a few months at the end of 2020/start of 2021.
7 -
@Lilylady3k Did you do the 7-day cruise that went to Boston, RI, Maine, Nova Scotia and BC? We did that 5 years ago and had a great time. Nice picture of Peggy's Cove.5

I'm Sloan. I'm 58 years old and 5'6".
Current weight is: 199.9 (ending weight of last challenge)
Highest weight was 252.6.
#20-was my first challenge- Goal: To be under 200 lbs. Starting/Ending weights: 216.7/199.9 (-16.8 lbs.)
Day 01—10/27— 199.0 - Several days now in 'onderland' which doesn't seem real:)
Day 02—10/28— 198.6 - Kid's meal for take-out last night. Didn't eat all the salad dressing or sauce.

I’m “Spring”, 62, from the Deep South USA.
Starting weight 2018 was 222+ (too ashamed at the time to weigh). Got as low as 129, looked like death, so made a conscious decision to add (!!!) weight back. My happy place is a well muscled 142.
After five weeks of travel and two of family in from overseas, and a particularly nasty “souvenir” (aka a virus) brought back from travels, I am currently at 154.8.
Part of that is joint swelling from the virus. I’ve had something similar before and will not let it beat me down this time. I am going back to working out and keeping the old joints lubricated. It make take months to work its way out of my system.
Just dropped family off at the airport, and am headed home to empty the house of all the “OMG I can’t get this there!” foods they couldn’t polish off.
I respect an old MFP’er who once said “My body is not a garbage can”, so in the trash it goes. So, bye bye sugar and snacks that have crept their way back into my diet. It’s so easy to have “coffee and cake” while traveling and let it become a new norm.
Time to stop the backslide before I’m an MFP “I’m Back”er.
I sincerely miss the social aspect of the old Newsfeed. Groups have been an epic fail, so am hoping to recover some of the social I’ve missed so badly via a Challenge.
My goal is to turn my exercise ring four times a day, and get back to my high protein meal plan. I’d also like to increase vegetables this time.
Happy to support others and hoping to receive same.

@deepwoodslady
You do walks down to the river, I would love to see some photos of that place.
@dawnbgethealthy I haven't walked the trails along the river in quite some time. The river is beautiful but the trails are not groomed very well and its a bit irritating. However, I love nature enough to overlook that most of the time. Just not lately. BTW, love your costume pics. You always do such a nice job with makeup!3 -
Maybe I’m dumb as a stump, but y'all keep mentioning photos and the only one I’ve seen is a costume.2

@DaffyGirl88 - We did the Enchanted Princess Cruise except they switched out Portland instead of stopping in Bar Harbor after payments were made.

@springlering62 - Some of the pics are tucked away under SPOILER to save space if people are scrolling and don't want to view all the pics.5 -
@springlering62 Just click on the word "Spoiler" in the post:) I'll never understand why they got rid of the newsfeed. It was nice to cheer each other on daily with the exercise, diary and streak posts. Such a loss:(

@springlering62 I have lots of family overseas too and when we get together all diets go on vacation too! Though the last visit was 2 years ago, and I myself haven't been out of the country since pre-Covid. Perhaps that's why I've been able to successfully stay on track!
Day 01—10/27— 136 lb. Alleluia! I never expected to get down here again. Now I am trying to give up sugar and coffee. Have given up several times in the past - longest period was 18 months- and I felt so much better. Plus my dentist was very happy with the state of my teeth. But social pressure when everyone else is addicted meant I gradually fell back into old habits, similar to gradually regaining pounds......
Day 02—10/28— 136.1 lb. Not sure if MFP has correctly calculated the number of calories I need to maintain. Still doing the same amount of exercise - we are heading into summer here, so hopefully will be outside more - last summer was terrible, floods and high winds and Lord knows what. Today was first day without added sugar (there was a little bit already in the oatmeal). I'm concentrating on giving up sugar first, then gradually cutting back on coffee, since it's easier to focus on one change at a time.
Day 03—10/29— 135.8 lb. Day 2 of No Sugar. I calculate if I keep drinking coffee at my usual rate of "intravenous drip feed", I will run out at the end of this month. Tossing up whether I should buy more or bravely go "cold Frappuccino." especially as I'm wanting to do a pantry challenge next month, to clear some shelf and freezer space and save money before restocking for the holiday season.

Hello, I'm Brian!!! 67 year, single, retired male living in rural, tiny town Canton, PA 'bout 45 minutes from the NYS border. Lived here for 4 years now, though originally from the Metro-NYC area. Diagnosed with MS in 2018, so now stuck using a rollator. (Thankful to the gods, that I've not been diagnosed with anything more serious so far.) Thrilled to have found MFP, its challenges, and supportive community.
Started on MFP on June 1st, 2024, weighing in at 286.2 lbs
