I was wondering when someone would notice my weight loss. Even for a big lady like me, 25 lbs is a lot. I can feel it. I have left the 5x tunic blouse behind and I am now wearing a very loose 4x tunic soon to be replaced with a 3 X. I know, most of you can gratefully not relate and I hope you will never get that big. But, I am down today from 348 lbs to 322.8 lbs (in two months).

Of all the people around me, it was my neighbor, I call her Mrs. Gossip in my mind, who asked me today in this morning if I had lost weight. It made me so happy and I turned around to face her in the driveway and with a big grin on my face I told her that I had lost 25 lbs so far and that it was just the start. "You won't recognize me in spring" I joked. She had made my day.

"What are you taking?" she asked me and it silenced me. "Are you taking these injections," she wanted to know. I am not ignorant neither do I live under a rock. I know that many celebrities have used the new miracle injections to lose weight. They get a little bit of 'help' and they inject themself with the same diabetic medication I am trying to avoid. Oprah Winfrey, Kelly Clarkson who denied it at first, and so many more.

As so often in my life, I didn't know how I felt about the weight loss injections until I was asked if I take them. It made me angry. I felt like I had been accused of cheating. When I told her "No, I am doing it the old-fashioned natural way," Mrs. Gossip looked at me and I could tell she didn't believe me.

It hurt my feelings and right then and there I knew how I felt about these new miracle drugs. I have gotten fat on my own and I will lose the weight on my own. Watch me! I dare you! I don't want to be accused of taking them. Is it the easy way out? Perhaps! Would it make sense for me to take them? Perhaps. Would it solve my problem? No! Only I can silence the cravings and the urge to overeat once and for all.

I don't care what celebrities do and I wish everybody well who (for health reasons) has to take these injections for a lifetime. People like me, who are morbidly obese and who don't move much, because of their weight, are often prediabetic or have Type 2 Diabetes. I am pre-diabetic and I am now fighting to lower my blood pressure, to lower my glucose numbers, and to lower my cholesterol numbers.

I am doing it not a drug. I am changing my way. I am changing my lifestyle. I am accepting and changing my bad habits. I am very much able to deal with the food noises in my head. I don't need something that doesn't make me feel hungry. I deserve to feel a bit hungry now and then.

It's me, just me! I can and will do it!

Am I silly feeling hurt? Is this the new normal, the easy way out of everything? I do wonder if many here are using the same drugs and if (in case I sign up with a group or a challenge) I will admire and cheer for results that were caused by a medication.

Am I too old-fashioned? I don't know who else to ask, I though I ask (and vent) here. So, now I feel better. Thanks

NOPE!!! I am going to do it the old fashioned way. My goal is to lose 125 more pounds hopefully

I did it my way. You do it your way.
The important part, the part we all share, is to just do it!
Those drugs weren't available when I was losing, but phen-fen was. Fen-phen was very popular years ago. It was the hot new "miracle cure" to make us all thin and beautiful. But we know now it made many of us dead, and lots more sick. Friends of mine lost their daughter to phen-fen. Heart failure. I applaud your decision to do it without drugs.
Not saying anything bad will happen with the current drugs. Just agree with you. We did it to ourselves. We need to learn how to manage our own lives to help ourselves. We need to love ❤️ ourselves enough to want to do it!
I wish you the best! I'm pulling for you all the way! You deserve a healthy, happy life!

"Just do it" its' so important and so underrated. I always thought starting a new lifestyle would be very dramatic, I even planned some "good bye" dishes with foods I thought I could never eat again. Believe me, you don't want to know how many of those good-bye meals I had in 20 years. Turns out just starting and growing as I go, as well as learning, is all it takes.

Today is my birthday and there is a beautiful small gluten-free, dairy-free cake sitting on my counter, smiling at me. My husband ordered it for me and we will have a slice later on when he will be home and we both are done with work.

It's sugar free so it will fit into my new lifestyle and it's fine that I will have it later. All of a sudden I can wait and I don't feel the need to stuff my face anymore. I am not sure what really happened, but it seems like it just clicked.

I am so glad you didn't take the fen-phen back then. It sounds dangerous and unhealthy.

We all deserve a healthy and happy life, sadly not many achieve it. I am not unhappy, quite the contrary but I feel uncomfortable in my size, which takes a lot of my happiness away. It's a journey, that's for sure.

Happy birthday! Congrats on your incredible loss, and for taking the steps to make your own life better🎉
In my community there have been many very heavy women (and a lot of not very heavy women) who have lost significant amounts of weight very quickly with drugs since they became popular. Because they have become so widespread people just assume that of course that’s what everyone is doing, and they can’t imagine that people are still putting in the hard work and doing it themselves, drug free!
But you are and so am I regardless of what others think:) we got this!😁

I saw your comment today and I wanted to respond. First let me congratulate you on your current weight loss....you certainly have something to be proud of.

My feelings are mixed as to the injections. I was on Ozempic for 9 weeks when I had to call it quits....I felt constantly sick to my stomach and was horribly constipated. So that was it.

But the difference with me is my Endocrinologist prescribed it for not only weight loss but because I am a T2 diabetic. I wish I could have kept taking it.....one injection a week is a lot easier than 4 or more injections a day of insulin. But it was not to be.

So I came back to MFP where I successfully lost 50 pounds 10 years ago. The accountability works for me....the logging works for me....the giving and receiving of support works for me. So don't let some people get you down....you aren't relying on a drug but doing it on your own and that says something about your determination.

    Continued success with your program!
