Tina - Your fire worries sound dreadful. We have those fires on our news. Glad the eyes are getting sorted.
Nice unit, Machka. It's amazing what you can do with a small space.
Lisa - Love the paintings! What did you use for the comb effect one?
I channelled a bit of Lisa last night and spent most of it awake. I did get some exercises done, Richard Osman's new book started etc etc. But not exactly a good night's sleep. Brain just buzzing along.....
After breakfast, I did 400 words of my book and then napped for two hours. Feel sooooo much better now.
I supervised while John made his Christmas cake after lunch. It's now in the oven for 3 and a quarter hours. The house will smell rather too heavenly! I'm doing a very easy dinner! Don't think I could face much else.
Yesterday I got a delivery of a white sweater to wear with my long black velvet skirt. I'm not sure white is the best colour for my size, but I intend to wear it under my black Chanel jacket. It was very cheap, but nice and fluffy. Definitely a going out for lunch thing. I threw one tatty sweater away on the 'one in, one out' principle. I have my eye on another to take to the charity shop, just because the colour doesn't make me feel good. But I haven't done it yet. I bought two camisoles , and threw two away. One of the new camisoles is a beige colour, to wear under light coloured sweaters. I don't wear a bra, more than once a year.
I still need better clothes for slopping around in. I commented on a video, that I spend most of my time lying on the bed, or sofa, so need to be comfortable, but I don't need to look a mess, so could she suggest some nice warm lounge wear. (I've been looking on Amazon). She replied that she would do her best. :-)
For Christmas dinner at my son's house, I may wear my green velvet dress. I've bought a light-up necklace to brighten it up! I can go to the beach in that outfit, plus long boots and coat, to watch the swimmers. Along with my gold sequinned Santa hat, of course! The necklace flashes, or is steady-state.
It's our 20th anniversary this month, so the white sweater will get an airing, I hope.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Morning, my chickens,
Heather - Thanks for taking on the insomnia burden for one night, as I slept straight through nine hours! Woke up because my phone was alarming two rooms away to take my 7 a.m. meds!
Debating on going into town - the gal who did such a good job on my hair wasn't there the last time I went in, but was scheduled in at 11 a.m. this morning. Still deciding.
Pulled everything out last night for the sale in eight days to send pics to the organizer for her marketing purposes. In the spoiler are some of them, most of which y'all have seen at one point or another. There are more, but it's overwhelming even so. I've been busy!
Tracey - I never got to the blanks that Corey cut for me! If I can get things cleaned up this week, I might. I just need to get all these priced today and either load them in the car or in a corner - they're making me just twitchy. It's just far too chaotic in my house right this minute.
Egg is trying to help, though:
The painting was cathartic yesterday - I need to do that every so often, apparently. And three of them will work to build into bags. The other two are iffy. The thing I dreamed of to fix the major issue was painting them their own built-in frame of white. It worked pretty well, and it will keep me from having to frame them with fabric or leather for each bag. Just a problem solution, not exactly an artistic choice!
And for those who are wondering -- I might be taking some of my bags to sell at this fair, but mostly, I won't. If I do, I'll probably put prices on them that will be higher than the market can bear out here. None of them will be the painting bags - I have yet to successfully make one of those, and plan to put a VERY high price on them when I do.
Heather - I used the little wooden thing you can see here, with the nubs on the end. I was looking for the combs you can see in the pic, but ran across it first. Very cheap--came in a package of tools to work with clay - maybe $5 for the entire set of ten tools. I've found that many of those tools are useful for working with larger volumes of paint on a canvas. Had to stretch out very quickly from the pallet knife!
Regarding hair - I love keeping my hair cut short, and have found that if I go ahead and bleach my hair, it acts SO much better to style it the way I like, up out of my face. When it's natural color or a darker hair dye with no bleach, it's kind of slicky and floppy and just won't act right. So short and blonde it is. L'Oreal Medium Blonde, if you're wondering.
Clothing style - Heather - this, might interest you for lounging around the house, too. I was wearing black pants while I was still working, with brightly colored tops or Girl Scout scarves (that's who I worked for the last six years before I retired). Now that I'm retired, I'm mostly in black soft pants with colored t-shirts or long-sleeved tees or jackets, according to the temperature. Not sweatpants - the ones that draw in at the ankles make me feel like someone's clutching me constantly from behind! More like yoga pants, or bootcut pants, in soft materials. They work fine to cover my knees, which are kinetic-taped 24-7, and the ankle-length compression socks that I wear every day to keep my circulation going. They're also fine for when I'm up to doing yoga, or getting on the elliptical.
I get the pants for $11 at Walmart and wear them until I've washed them so much that they're turning gray. Then I cut the bottoms off and wear them rolled up for capris-length pants in the summer, but only around the house. Then I wear them to paint the house or work in the yard, and after that they go in the trash. Four to five years total wear out of each one, according to how much I'm painting! I don't travel anymore, but when I did, I wore pretty much what I wear now. To keep the decluttering going, I only buy another pair when I retire a pair to capris status. The good part about always getting black is that they look fine with any color of top or jacket or shoe that I wear with them.
Please note - I do actually own two pairs of jeans, one that I turned into a bell-bottom pair, with extra material, and one that is dark and looks good. If I wear them once a year I'd be surprised. It feels like wearing a girdle after all these years in soft pants!
That was probably more than anyone wants to know about my life, and I need to get some things sorted out before I decide in half an hour whether to go into town!
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

I am emerging from a two week black hole of having a terrible cold (the first one in many years) compounded by Jake having the same cold and having to call 911 three times for heart related issues, which included going to the hospital twice, once overnight. He came home with the directions to take it easy and not bend over. Finally my cold is almost over, his cold his almost over, and he can move about enough to do the laundry and build a fire in the woodstove. Thanks to his friend, we have much smaller hunks of wood so it's easier to build the fire. Annie is more settled now that Jake is home and behaving normally. I still managed to walk 10,000 steps a day but a lot of chores got ignored. I've been reading every day, but not commenting.
Since I go nowhere anymore except occasionally to the doctor or dentist, I wear the same thing every day. I have many identical jeans, shirts, and sweatshirts so my clothes are always clean but look identical to what I wore the day before. I wear a style of Lee jeans that fits me comfortably all in black, stretchy turtlenecks with quarter front zip and long sleeves with thumb holes, and several favorite sweatshirts, one for a sports team I like and the others say "chop wood and carry water". I haven't worn make up for years and haven't had my hair cut professionally since 2020. I am comfortable in my own skin and that's what's important. I shop for clothing online which is easy because I buy the same things over and over.
I am reminded of the story of the woman who was promised that her pain would be taken away if she could find a home that had not experienced great pain. Of course, she couldn't find anyone who had had no pain in their lives. We each have our own tough times.

Allie ~ She's looking happy and content!
Lisa ~ Question: I know that you are short and I am wondering how you find pants from Walmart or other places (like Amazon) that actually aren't too long. Do you have to hem everything? Trying to find women petite clothes is difficult and especially because I am not just short but chubby.
Carol in GA2 -
Well, we got the door to Jess’ room up and she shut Cosmo in there for the night saying that Colby didn’t want our cats in bed with him. I don’t really believe that, but whatever….
After the soup kitchen took Ganon for a walk around the block. In a few I just might do it again. Jess and Colby are still here.
Annie – so very glad you had such a good ride
Lisa – it’s a real good thing Egg is there to help you and supervise...lol
Carol – tell me about how hard it is to find petite or short pants (at a decent price). They even don’t have much at a thrift store! The good part is that not much of a selection makes it so that you don’t spend a lot of money.
Think I’ll take Ganon out for a walk now.

Carol - OK, it's a secret for anyone else, so don't tell folks, OK? 😂 So, I am short, at 5'1 and 3/4" tall, but I also am quite hippy - I have quite large hips for someone who's my overall size. Especially, bluntly, my thighs. This means that, for my soft pants, I can buy small, regular length pants, but because I'm SO hippy and thunder-thighed, I take up the length. When they're new, they do puddle a little bit around the tops of my tennis shoes. But I'd rather have that than them riding up my ankles, and as they shrink over numerous washings, by the time they start fading, they're the perfect length. I have to admit, this does not work with regular pants, like jeans. But Walmart's petite sizes in jeans and regular business-type slacks do generally fit me in length, and they did even when I was over 300 pounds and wearing 36W "petite" jeans.
The other "secret" that the fashion industry doesn't tell us short chicks is that the Small/Petite size isn't just shorter than the Small/Regular Length. It's actually smaller overall. So, in other words, the reason I'm comfortable in a small is BECAUSE I'm wearing a small/regular length and it's slightly bigger around than the small/petite would be. Hope that makes sense.

Lisa: The bird was done with gel pens. The landscape with colouring pencils. The sketches anre quite small , about are about half postcard size.
I cleared my summer clothes out of my wardrobe and replace them with winter clothes. I’m a bit late doing it this season, but I was hoping that we might get a late spell of warmer weather before winter kicked in.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

Well, Ganon, Pixel and Cosmo have left. I must admit, I will miss the walks with Ganon. But I DO NOT want a dog.
We went to dinner at this Greek/Italian restaurant (I know, weird combination). Colby paid and you know, I don’t feel guilty. We watched their pets for a week (not that we didn’t enjoy it too)
Lisa – you’re right that the petite sizes are smaller overall. That’s why I really do prefer just a “short” slack or else I usually get a larger size in the petites.
I have a suspicion that Rev came to BK and did his examination. I found out that he isn’t the health dept. but an outside company hired by BK to do the health-type inspections. Only it seems that he’s more strict. Hopefully, if I’m right and he did come, I won’t have to work on Wednesdays any more. That is, probably until the next time he comes. I’ll ask the asst. mgr (who is in charge of the schedules) if she wants me to come in Wednesday. I’ll just say that she would know if Rev came at a time that I wasn’t there. Honestly, I do hope she says that she doesn’t need me Wednesday. This six days/week can get to be a lot even tho I’m only there for 3 hours.
To all bakers: I’m making an apple pie and using Honeycrisp apples. I read that to keep the pie from being “runny” to let it sit in the refrigerator for a day. Well, I tried that. It wasn’t as runny but it still was somewhat. What kind of thickener do you all use? I used cornstarch (a lot of it too)

BB&B class wipes me out so much that at line dancing if there’d been a couch at the Elks I’d have lain down and snored. Maybe the protein bar I ate contributed to the sugar crashlike sleepiness. Next week will try nuts or an apple with cheese or a yoghurt or PBfit smoothie and compare the sugar/carbs with results.
Heather Oooh for the ports of call on your cruise. Whew! For your special cabin. Can’t wait to stow away with you both.
Annie your fall jacket and paisley scarf sound lovely. Hope they make you feel lovely too! Fingers X’d your gut continues to improve. ((hugs))
Rita I don’t understand, sorry. If you rented or somehow got a newer, bigger camper you’d be allowed to come back and host at Bottomless Lakes? I think you’re right, if you clear out your space and leave for a couple of weeks they might not let you back in forever. Consider how they treated Jim. Is your husband’s wanting to stay realistic considering the Ranger Supervisor? When does his/her term end? Brava for bringing the list of yoga poses to get guidance/ok from Physical Therapist. So relieved you are finally getting help for your back. What the MRI tech must feel like validation. Sorry you have to wait so long to see the back doctor.
Tracey I’m with Lanette, would love to see some of the crafts you’ll be selling. Hilarious FB video, thanks! It’s always shocking when our assumptions about women’s progress are shattered by some men’s attitudes.
Lanette I cannot imagine tossing a bale of straw, or even moving one with a fulcrum and a lever, no matter how long. You are a wonder, woman!
Flea yours to Allie, sound counsel.
Allie did your FB account get hacked? Saw a friend request from you but we were already FB friends. Could you help me understand why it would it be a problem if Jean found the notebook you gave Sean? Thank goodness for pics of sMyles and Delia. ((hugs)) Brava for setting the “not financially” boundary with Sean, you must know your brother well. And Kyle. Words fail. ((hugs)) and prayers for Tracy, the kids and you. Thankful to hear of Carmine’s progress.
Lisa the jacket. Really  your feeling of coming back into life. Amazeballs collection of crafts to sell.
Machka your bedroom declutter list, Joe won’t let me trash his old feather pillows (and he wonders why his nose stuffs up) but I’m the guilty party when it comes to the stacks of periodicals and books unread in my night stand. Can’t fault him ‘til I clean up my act. ;} Laughed out loud at the “age” and cheeto security memes.
Penny con VERY gratulations for taking off those pounds. What positive reinforcement for your weighing/tracking food. Once that is a solid habit, you can try adding some seated activities/stretches to help reawaken your metabolism while your tendon heals. Hope the Physical Therapist has some suggestions. I know how debilitating and painful a torn tendon is. ((hugs))
Rebecca absolutely nothing about a vacuum I have to push gives me any joy. Now emptying the Roomba’s bin, yes I can glean some joy from that ;}
Rori WOW. That WAS sudden. Thankful I can enjoy the beauty, from a safe distance
Rosemarie thank you for checking in, you’ve been missed. Would your friend compromise, half the nights in a place of her preference and half in yours? I’d be resentful if I had to spend the entire trip in places I didn’t like, spending more than I wanted on meals, etc.
Michele, uh oh. That new tree looks like it would be an appeal to the kittens as a scratching post. Or was that the intent? ;}
Terri your sketches, especially the phoenix.
Tina glad to see you popping in, sorry to hear about the fire scare, lost job/insurance and failed eye procedure. ((hugs))
Mo “100 pounds down” con VERY gratulations! When will you move back to Chicago? “..poor guy needs prescription renewed for his glasses” LOL! Disappointing about London. A special color dress for church? :noway:
Lanette one word of caution, when you open Excel spreadsheets in non-Micro$oft spreadsheet programs, sometimes the conversion is not seamless. When you try to open again in M$oft, stuff can shift or change. I’ve had this problem trying to update a spreadsheet my friend created and maintains in Apple’s version. It doesn’t convert perfectly to my M$oft version or back again. A big pita.
Pip grateful Kirby needed no medical followup. ((hugs))
Carol I’d love to see your wrought iron cabinet, sounds lovely. I too am a chubby petite, but my problem isn’t pants, its tops. My narrow shoulders and generous middle means nothing ever fits right. Foo!
Barbie so thankful to see you on the other side of that two week black hole.
Gratitudes:
Friday: 3 clear, dry, calm days before winter storms. Long chat stroll with D. Sporthaven beach uncharacteristically calm.
Thursday: indoor plumbing ;}
Wednesday: 20 min nap gave energy for dog group.
Tuesday: the good humored casserole-a-thon crew.
Decluttering challenges Day 40/30 More redwood branch stuff40-Invested a half hour in carting branches to the burn pile. Noticed I missed lopping some, others need halving to fit in the cart. Guesstimating another hour needed to ready for Joe.Day 39/30 Redwood branch39-.Lopped all the side branches off the downed redwood branch to make it easier for Joe to chainsaw. Morning, kiddos,
Not a lot going on this morning - on pause on a couple things. Like I ran my printer out of ink yesterday while finishing up the signs for the sale next weekend. Decided I was NOT going to price every single thing I made, was not up to writing out and trying to attach prices to a couple hundred items, so made signs instead... and the printer ran out of ink. Before I could get my inventory list printed out as well, of course. Costs $10 less to get the cartridges shipped to me than to pick them up locally, so that will be here Monday or Tuesday.
Same with the bags I'm working with now - Needed feet for the bottom of them, and those will be in on Monday as well. I'm working on a body design that will accommodate the new paintings and feet. When you think about it in those words, it's an odd hobby sometimes. 😛😶😍
Heather - You will love that long, leisurely cruise, I'm sure. It looks quite protected and peaceful for a large part of it.
Barbara - Love that you're extending decluttering to the outside.
Lanette - I was going to say something similar to Barbara's regarding spreadsheets. You might want to experiment before you go that way by copying one into a Google Sheets version and then seeing if you can retrieve it well with Excel. You might like it better, don't know what you're working with. I've been paying $65 a year for MS Office, and am contemplating moving that way just to save the money. I work with documents and spreadsheets very little these days, and it would save a few bucks.
Terri - Your day sounds lovely.
Tina - Good to see you, sorry the eye issues became such a big problem, in the end. Very frustrating. Glad there's an answer, but it doesn't sound pleasant in the slightest!
Barbie - Glad the two-week cold for you and Jake is making its way out of both your systems. Always such a relief to breathe easy again!
Did go get my hair trimmed, in the end. Corey couldn't tell the difference, but I didn't expect him to... it was mainly just to get the damaged ends cut off so it acts right instead of getting too fluffy on me. Hilarious conversation with him last night about the fact that we both HAVE to stop being lazy and trying to talk to the other one from another room. Neither one of us hears well enough to discern words from a distance anymore. Me being me, I began that conversation from... another room. 😂
Ack, Egg just came back in from her morning constitutional... It's raining, but supposed to end in another hour. We got a fair amount of rain this last week, and needed it. She's drying her paws off on my lap at the moment, with a little gentle claw work as she needs. Being quite polite, by her standards! 😹😳😍
This is how I found out she was wet when she came in, by her walking across my work table:

Lost 2 kg (4.4 lbs) since visiting Canada ... my husband has lost 3 kg.
Spent about 1.5 hours moving little white gravel out of the way in the garden bed closest to the house so that we could plant red hot pokers there. I think they'll be quite dramatic.
Massive quantities of little white gravel are heavy.
And I am almost finished organising my bathroom. That'll be Room Number One done.
Machka in Oz7 -
Barbie - so glad you and Jake are over your colds. Some of this crud hangs on far too long. Hope that's it for you both for a long, long time. The smaller pieces of firewood are a great idea.
Allie - hope your brother can get situated quickly - being away from Jean has to help.
Rosemarie - I once had a good friend that insisted on paying for things. Plays, meals, and such. In her mind, going someplace that I couldn't afford was her way of treating me. Maybe that's what your friend is trying to do. I will say my friend was very gracious and always asked what I preferred. She made the 1980's a lot of fun! Great memories.
Barbara and Lisa - thanks for the heads up about opening M$oft spreadsheets in other programs. My plan is to keep using Excel exclusively but in the event of this laptop crashing, I wanted to be able to continue using that spreadsheet in another platform, (a free one ). I don't plan to use different programs simultaneously. I heard from a friend that W10 is not going to be supported in a year unless we pay $$. Haven't researched it. A decade ago, DH downloaded Open Office on one of the laptops. It worked OK for a while, but updates seemed to degrade it.
I want to go back to the future and use XP again.
Yesterday afternoon, I started to do some pruning on the Rose of Sharon next to the house - it's up to the roof again but then decided to hold off a month or two when it's colder and better pruning weather when she's dormant. I don't have a burn pile anymore so I'm cutting up the small stuff to fit in the garbage can and big branches go into another pile to be hauled off.
I also put gas stabilizer in the mower and the emergency can of gas I have stashed away. Then I took the mower out for a little bit and knocked down some of the grass that was getting tall and crunched up some of those leaves I dumped in various places - I wanted to get the stabilizer run through the fuel system so it should be good to sit for a while.
Regarding pants - I wear men's sweatpants with open bottoms, so no elastic cuffs. From DH's stash. They look like regular pants but with softer stretchy material and of course elastic around the waist. I saw some photos recently of the new pant lengths -some of them are an inch or two above the ankles. So anything goes.
Lisa - good to hear you folks are getting rain. Our monsoons are scheduled to start tomorrow and on into next week. Minor flooding predicted here but Seattle and north might see some major action.
That's the quick catch-up. Have a great weekend ladies!

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Thanks to Carol, Lisa, Tracey, Lanette, and Rosemarie for your encouragement!
Penny it's so hard to know whether to challenge or rest an injury. Good luck with it.
Rita so glad you are getting care!
Tina Hello! Sorry about your eye.
Allie great weight loss! Good luck with your brother.
Machka I like that bath unit!
Barbie glad your cold is better.
Carol, I suppose we could get a home equity loan or something like that. Or maybe find a night nurse that's within our budget. There are some options once I get over the fear.
I finally got my driver's license renewed! Yay!
Dad didn't charge his hearing aids last night so he's going to be a challenge today. I hate yelling at him.
Have a marvelous day! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

DH wanting to stay is mostly b/c he doesn’t like change, AND he would lose his ‘shop’ (which is really the campground shop). He is the only one that knows how to fix anything that breaks here, and also he has a lot of his own tools in the shop. The Ranger Supervisor never replaces anything that belongs to the park that breaks. The Ranger has no idea what really goes on in this park. Right now, he’s been gone for almost a month hunting, and probably won’t be seen until around January or February. There is no term for the supervisor, he’s there until he gets fired or quits. Frustrating for me. I wanted a change a long time ago. I never liked this useless man who is suppose to be running the park.

Hello Good Ladies;
Carol- I love Lands End's Sports Knit Pants. They say that they are like sweat but better, and it is true. They come in petite sizes for us under 5'3" and shorter. I got some for my mom and MIL, and they love them. You can dress them up with a blouse or dress them down. What is even better is that they have pockets. I usually order them when they have the 40% off sale. They come in all colors and styles. They have capris, shorts, and long pants. They are so comfortable, too. I would suggest that you size down because they do run big. At Land's End, they have tunic tops, too. If you are tall, they have those sizes too. My mom is 5'8'. I don't know what happened to me. I have tall parents, but I am short.
Rita, if there are only three people, why was Jim bothered by the ranger? I don't trust this ranger, dude.
Lisa- Egg was demonstrating her art skills. I love the prints.
Barbara, isn't she wild about wearing specific colors? I told DH I didn't like that church because it was too complicated. Then, one lady was upset because I didn't wear a hat. I told her I have a big head and do not look good in hats.
I remember this one lady I worked with complaining that this mom dropped her kids off for VBS, and they were not members. She questioned, "Why do they have to waste their resources on those kids?" I told her that if their church has signed up for VBS, that is an invitation.
I just realized that it is hard to please everyone.
I am moving to Chicago in October 2025. I am trying to get DH to give me more time. I told him that I would have been there 17 years if we had waited until 2/2/2026. DH wants to know if it is worth it first.
Michelle- Coming to work even for 3-4 hours takes time and effort out of your day. I truly understand.
Well, I am going to bed. Have a wonderful Saturday.
XO,
Mo in Mississippi.

MO ~ I did order a Lands End pair of XL Petite pants from Amazon. When they came, they had sent XL and no Petite. Mailed them back and got a refund. The pants were probably a ft. longer than my leg.
Barbie ~ I forgot to tell you how sorry I am that you and Jake have been through so much with the bad colds and with his health problems. I know you must be terribly distressed and pray for better health for both of you.
Rita ~ It sounds like you are really ready to leave the camp ground. I hope your husband will decide to comply with your wishes.
