    Wow, that is an awesome way to set and track goals. (Still working on my plan for 2025, and it is mostly finish renovating, unpacking, setting up this room and that room, plus exercise, meditate/stretch/reiki, strength training, and visit family.

    Machka Thank you for the quotes and the 12 days of kittens! They were needed this morning! Now if I can figure out the root of the problem......It was asked of me if I always wanted to view myself as a victim or if I wanted advice to fix situations.....I have struggled with that statement. I didn't/don't realize that some people hear that when I speak. I am being stronger in speaking my needs and wants with DH and work. More food for thought.

    Jennifer Welcome! There are lots of different ways to set goals. Several styles show up here. You will find the right one for you. I am still trying to figure out what works for my "squirrely" brain. I have never thought of goals or planning until I met this group.

    Tracey Your cards are beautiful! I don't know where you find the time or energy.

    Yesterday was good. I did get outside for about 20 mins to help DH with a project. Worked on Christmas cards. Did a few little chores. Cooked dinner. I really dislike my air fryer. Will need to decide if I want to try a different kind, keep this one and grin and bear it, or just recycle and remove from my cabinet. I have an Insta-Pot too that I only use to make hard boiled eggs. These two things take up a lot of cabinet space for how rarely I use them. Something to consider in my quest to declutter. I use my toaster oven frequently as well as the electric griddle so those will stay. I did drink more water than normal, but not as much as should. I moved more than I normally do on a Sunday, so also good!



    Today is DH to hunting site, doctor appointment, work, then home. Will see what today brings!

    Our printer is playing up. :# John hasn't managed to fix it so far. He thought he might have done, so I tried it this morning, but no go. :s
    I wrote (a very short) round robin this morning, so that those 'once a year' people will get an update on my hip operations etc. I've sent it over by email to my DDIL to see if she can do me a few copies. I can collect tomorrow, at Bea pick up. Otherwise I will have to go to one of the print shops around the corner.
    A small frustration, but something you don't need.
    John seems to think I tried to print in colour, but we shall see.
    I have never done one in the past, but thought it would save me scribbling. :)
    Like some others of you, I love receiving cards from old friends, and always appreciate news.

    Kylia - I think of you often. I have faith in you. You will find your way through this, I know. <3

    Today was recovery day.

    Organising cycling events often takes it out of me. Stress about the weather. Stress about rider safety. Stress about ensuring everything is where it's supposed to be along the route. And being social.

    Even when we sat at the finish line with our club flag up, we had people coming along and talking to us ... which is great, but it's a lot more socialising than I'm used to.

    With a few exceptions, socialising drains my personal energy battery.

    So I slept today.

    When I got up, we made a trip to the storage unit and with some difficulty we managed to extract the Christmas decorations!! We also got a bin of my clothes - I wanted that because one of the things I want to do during the Christmas break is to go through my clothes, and take a pile of them to an op shop.

    Then I went out and spent a bit of time doing battle with that grass we have. My mattock vs the grass!

    Good morning ladies!

    I was up super early again but still got 6 hours of sleep. It's currently 23F at my house. :# I put on the outside faucet covers last week. Once we finish with this foggy cold snap in a couple days, it looks like we'll be back to warmer weather (low's in the 30's/40's, highs in the 40's/50's and rain.) The first week of December can be exciting in my area. Major windstorms, floods, now nearly record cold. So I'm grateful only fog is predicted today. ;) And that I don't have to drive in it.

    This morning I made the first woodstove fire of the season. Rosie is laying in front of the it right now soaking up the heat. I have a rule that if the night/early morning temps get down into the 20's and the daytime temps stay in the 30's, then I make a fire. Didn't do it yesterday and the house just didn't seem to get warm. No fog right now, just beautiful starry skies. Maybe the weatherman's fog prediction won't come true.

    Kylia - I need to take a hard look at my kitchen cupboards and especially cookware/bakeware too. My instant pot and air fryer sit on a shelf in the garage. I use an egg cooker similar to the one shown for hard-boiled eggs that works perfectly every time and doesn't take up much space. I use it at least once a week. :p

    Jennifer - Welcome! I like your plans for next year. It's not too soon to get started, is it? I've been thinking about my own goals. A year ago, I had no idea that my foot would be so bothersome, or that I'd be diagnosed as pre-diabetic. But on the plus side, as a result of these things, I'm now doing morning stretches which help me overall, my foot seems better, and my diet is much improved. I'm a big believer in silver linings and things working out for the best. So we'll see what's in store for 2025.

    Heather - hope John can get the printer going for you. Mine is temperamental too. Seems like every time there's a software upgrade of some type, it either works or it doesn't. And it's always giving me the "ink low" warning, which means I can print another 24 pages at least. Aggravating.

    JoAnn from PA and Jennifer from CT welcome! You are like family to me! I have a brother and Goddaughter/cousin both in PA at opposites sides. One by the ocean, one by the mountains. AND I come from CT with family still there ( I also have a brother and a sister in Kentucky, and my middle daughter in TN. We are a family of Nomads! LOL)
    9My mom and 1 sister live in CT, so does my son and 1 grandson. I have a daughter and another grandson in MA, and a nephew in NH.) We lived in Both the Northeast and Central parts of CT. I lived in TN for 15 years in between the 2 CT years and now am retired and live in NM. As you can tell, I love traveling and living in different cultures, areas, and weathers. Experimenting for when we finally REALLY settle down to finish our lives out. Perhaps never permanent? We shall see! 😁

    I am working on my goals for 2025. They like this year are SMART goals. I have grouped them sort of like Machka does her wheel. I like the way I have it set up for this year. I have already figured out my Word of the Year, and it will be: CHANGE. Lots going to happen this coming year with a potential move to a house somewhere. Not sure yet where we will go, but research begins in January! I’ll post a copy when I’m happy with it.

    Physical Therapy at 1 pm today, and Psychologist at 11:30 am this morning. Then, no doctors the rest of the week. Further in the month we both have bloodwork for PC, then visit there and I have bloodwork on Christmas Eve for my Kidney doc. Don’t know how many more PT sessions, at least 3 counting today’s, so once a week for those. I am so sick of medical stuff! I really hope next year is better!

    My daughter's feelings got hurt when I told her yesterday we wouldn't be filling in the books, and she sent me a tersely written text and image of a return label and asked me to return them. Which I printed out and the books are repackaged today for sending.

    Here are the best metaphors I can find. Sending that book to her dad, asking him to answer all these questions about his past and his life, is like him sending all the lumber and materials, etc., to have her build a sunroom on our house FOR HIM. And then getting angry when she won't do it because she doesn't have the tools or the skill or the time to do so. He also noted this morning, "It's like sending me an activity to do for Christmas. I have enough activities that need doing."

    Sending that book to me, on the other hand, is like saying, "I know you've written your autobiography, but here are the questions I want you to answer, because your answers aren't good enough." I asked her if she had even read the questions in these books, and she said "No," so it's not even her questions, it's some complete stranger's questions!

    And then she got angry when I said "No."

    Corey and I talked a bit about it, and while we don't act like her fantasy of how parents should want to act, that's really OK. There are parts of my life I don't share with anyone, because I think they should die with me. There's no reason for them to keep living on after me. He feels the same way.

    I fully get the emotional reasons why she wants these things, I do. But we're not the people she thinks we are, apparently, and once she pulled out that old saw of "I never ask for anything," I was done. I do not respond well to emotional blackmail.

    :)<3Lisa, This is so well said. I've heard the ads for projects like this and they are all about how satisfying the project will be for the giver. It is somehow assumed that the recipient will enjoy doing the work. It is not unlike buying a vacuum for your wife or mother. Bravo to you for speaking up. I hope your daughter will think about what you said and understand it better. Saying "I don't ask for anything" makes exactly the point that the gift is asking something of you rather than giving you something.

    What is it about your air fryer that you don't like.
    Those are my two favorite appliances ;)
    Yes, it did take a year to start using the air fryer and 2 before I started using my pressure cooker but now, use them both all the time.
    We have upgraded a few times on the air fryers. The only appliance dh will actually use occasionally.
    He will even cook a steak in it. We use it all the time
    I used to not like when he would pick up fried chicken but when I air fry it to warm it up, it renders the extra fat out between the skin and the breading, making it extra crisp and not greasy. They reheat pizza in it to crisp the crust. Love making tots in it. A lot quicker than using the oven.
    The pressure cooker I use pretty often. Great for so many things. Great now that I got over the fear of using it.

    MFP Weekly Check-In for December 2, 2024

    Rita in Roswell NM - My weight has been going up the last few weeks. Eating my stress plus holidays. At 178.3 today, I am still below the 186 I started at this time and way below the 210 my all time high. So not depressed about my weight, just too much life hitting me at once lately. I’m not going to focus on my weight loss so much this month, but just on not getting any higher. Being healthy is my main goal and not gaining any more. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving if you celebrate it, if not, I still hope you’ve had a great weekend!

    Barbara on the Southern Oregon Coast - Looks like I missed, last week so comparisons from two weeks ago.
    WT Sunday back down to 130.3 from 131.6 . Weekly average down to 130.7 from 131.7.. Weekly average steps WAY down to 5459 from 7778. Again skipped one each of the weekly BB&B, dog groups,and weekly line dancing, unwilling to travel during storms.. PT & Zumba not yet.

    Not too bad for stormy week and feast day ;}

    Debbie in Napa Valley CA - up two pounds when I weighed yesterday. Really need to get back on track. Didn't walk at all last week and didn't track food at all.

    Lanette in SW WA State – weight holding steady thanks to some IF – a few 16/8’s last week which kept me on track. Let’s see how the rest of the month goes – I know goodies will start showing up at the door which I’ll graciously take. I haven’t been good at rationing in the past so I hope any cookies and candy I get are stale, soggy, taste “funny” and otherwise inedible, lol. My average daily steps 6663 which is down considerably from last week.
