Hi Im new to posting (not new to the app MFP been trying to do app alone and am in need of like-minded people to be friend).

❄️I'm trying to achieve a healthy positive outlook on things. I have working on hobbies as a replacement for snacking.

❄️These upcoming weeks I'm unsure of how stay disciplined in eating. My family makes ton of sweets every year.

❄️I have restarted my fitness goals I can't give up on myself and I being more accountable for what I intake.

    Hello

Serial starter here. I usually am hovering around 214 pounds but had some upsetting news about a health condition and ate my worries and today am 225 :(

You would think ( well at least a normal thinking person would) that the health info would be the motivation to get myself in the best shape I can in order to get ready for the future so that I will be in good shape to fight the illness, but instead Im eating whatever I want, not sleeping well and not moving off the couch much. I am too much in my head.

My goal for December is to get back to my usual 214-216 weight and to be more health conscious and stop the unhealthy behaviors.

    SW: 225
    CW: 225
    GW: 170

I know WHAT to do, I just have to DO it.
So here is to December.🥂 ( Minus the alcohol, of course).

Hi all! Thought I'd pop in, although my weigh-in day is not for 3 days. I am trying to achieve a 5-pound weight loss this month. That will bring me to 175, the lowest I've been since 2023. This time, however, I'm going to keep on going and not yo-yo, in spite of the holiday season. December is the toughest month temptation-wise, but I can get through it. Last night I had a big craving for a slice of my pumpkin pie but I had an apple instead...........

Since I joined MFP back in March, I've lost twenty pounds! I've gone from 1X shirts to XL and my size 18 pants are getting quite loose on me. Probably ready to switch down to 16s.

I don't make a huge deal about the holidays; I didn't celebrate Christmas growing up and most of my family is on the East Coast in any case. There are a couple of holiday potlucks coming up at work and I'm baking cookies. Needless to say, none will be lingering around the house, too much temptation. Christmas hubs and I make turkey again and I make a pie, usually apple. We go visit his brother who doesn't live too far away. Oh, and we always watch Christmas Vacation, my favorite Christmas movie!

    ❄️ December Goals!❄️
    ❄️ December GW Average: 172

    💙 December SW 12/1: 177 (average)

    yesterday:
    ❌1st / 4 workouts per week
    ❌> 8k steps
    ❌<= 1600 cal
    ✅32 minute self care
    ❌> 64oz water
    ❌>= 128g protein

It's time to finish out THE PLAN! 30 days to NYE! Let's GOOOOOOO

I was shooting for 176 average for the end of November, ended up at 177 because I gave up for the last almost week, didn't even log, lol.

Today is going well! I'm under calories for the day even with my advent calendar pour of wine, lol. I credit that to my secret weapon: shrimp for lunchhhhh it's shrimp! for lunch! lol.

All of my meals are planned out for the week and logged in MacroFactor, so we are turning this around! We are going for 172! It's going to be tough to pull off, but we're going to get as close as possible.

I bought more protein powder on sale at GNC's site today, trying some new ones, can't wait to see how they go with coffee (I drink my cold brew with a scoop of protein powder every morning for an easy protein boost). I bought a marshmallow, pecan caramel cinnabon (!), peanut butter cereal milk, and little debbie's christmas tree (!) flavor! They were bogo 50%, and since I needed more anyway, I went ham, haha. I also bought some more hot and spicy protein chips bogo 50%, since I love those.

    Tag party time!
@strengthenKae welcome! I love hobbies as replacement for snacking! What are some of your hobbies?

@rorymason welcome! Best wishes to you in your health concerns! I totally get eating your worries, most of the time that is my reaction too, so don't beat yourself up too much. You're here now!

@reginakarlcatz welcome! I'm glad you're feeling better now, even if it means working,

@lisakatz2 you're doing so well! I'm looking forward to seeing you hit your goal! :star:

    Have a great MONTH, everyone!

    Good morning everyone!

Weighed in at 177 exactly this morning, so while that is exactly my average, we are on the way back down.

Food is packed for work today, gonna get all my water in, nice walk at lunch, my high protein sushi bake for dinner, and then gym (poles and then a choreographed dance)! Somewhere in there I need to pick up my new glasses and the license plates for my car! Busy day!

I'm taking recommendations for APMA walking shoes, if anyone has any! I'm currently wearing Hoka Clifton 9s, and they're great, but Hoka's not really having a sale, so if you know of any good shoes on sale, let me know!

    Have a great day, everyone!

UGW: 167 (healthy weight for a senior woman my height)

    I do check-ins when I lose:
    8/1: 254.8.
    10/29: 248
    12/2/2024 252 post trip weight
Weight loss since retiring almost 13 lbs.

    December Goals:
    • 30 minutes of exercise 6 days a week. Have longer walks until I can walk around Greenlake
    • December GW: Get into the mid to lower half of the 240s -
    • Keep my water intake up
    • Keep getting 7-8 hours of sleep
    • Meal plan and cook 3+ dinners

❄️How do you plan to celebrate the holidays and are there any strategies you will be putting in place to help you through?
We will be home and will have some get togethers with family. We also have My husbands birthday and our anniversary this month to celebrate.

❄️Don't forget to pat yourself on the back for committing to yourself this year. Whether you've kept it going since January or just started up in the last few months, well done either way!
I really restarted my efforts when I retired the beginning of the summer. I made progress until this past month. I think my weight will come back down to 248 soon since it was only the last couple of days we ate food out that tends to up my weight.

I am just back from visiting my son’s family with my little grandson. Right before I left I had some eye issues and had to take it easy for a while but I feel I can get back to exercising more now. We plan a walk today and I want to go to Aquafit this week. I have today’s dinner planned and tomorrow will plan for the rest of the week. I will also unpack today. I just went to the doctor today about my blood pressure which I was worried was going up. We decided to monitor it for 2 weeks to see where it is. I am going to put blood pressure on my spreadsheet where I log my daily weight, calorie intake and exercise.
So although exercise and upping my exercise will be the main focus I want to get back into the 240s and stay well within them with making healthy meals.

I will be posting more often (most week days) and doing check ins when I have progress to report weight wise. I read all of your posts.

My goal for December is to lose 6 lbs. Which will put me in Onderland for the first time in over 9 years. My strategy for the holidays is to think before I put something on my plate and to keep my portions small. I will still focus on my protein as well. I also need to get back on track with my activity and steps. To be honest, I watched too much TV this past weekend.

Let's finish 2024 stronger and lighter then when we started the year!

    Good morning everyone!

Weighed in at 175 this morning, continuing back down, thank goodness.

Gym was good last night, although they had a couple of chocolates at the front desk and I partook, lol.

    yesterday:
    ✅1st / 4 workouts per week
    ✅> 8k steps
    ❌<= 1600 cal
    ✅32 minute self care
    ✅> 64oz water
    ✅>= 128g protein

Today! N had diarrhea yesterday, so she's not allowed to go back to school today. I have lots of things still on my to do list around the house after being gone over the holidays, so I'm fine with that. It's just sick leave, I'll live.

That being said! I've had my protein coffee (still finishing up my pescience cookies and cream before my new ones come), going to fill up my favorite tumbler with water and get the day going! Tonight is meatballs from @ fitnfineewithpenelope on tiktok.

    v28u5hn68z5e.png

I also made up my spreadsheet for next year, the first 100 days, before I go on my first cruise! The closer I get to 172 at the end of this year, the easier it will be to meet my goal before cruise time. And yes, it's lofty, but shooters shoot.

    @keria :star: spreadsheet gang :star:

@jenbroussard71 you can do it! Especially if you stay focused.

    Have a great day, everyone!

I went to see my doctor yesterday and I proudly told him that I lost 20 pounds. He took my blood pressure and listened to my heart and said my stats have come down since 200. He asked me how much I weigh now and what is my goal weight, and he said "Good job! Keep going!" I would have preferred if he stopped at "Good job". I know I have a long way to go, but I'm proud of my success. I don't need to be reminded of the long road ahead of me. Am I being overly sensitive? Am I reading too much into this?

Happy December! I'm getting a late start. I had lots of fun company over the weekend and took yesterday off to recover! It was not good foodwise and I gained a few pounds but that should go away this week and I will start working my way back down. All but my Texas kids/grands come for the holidays and we have a ridiculous amount of food. Everyone says they're bringing one thing but that turns into two or three things so we have more than the table can hold. And more leftovers than I care to think about!

Today's weight: 236.3 (that was a shocker but understandable after all I ate Sat-Mon.)
    December goal: 228

I made a chart to keep track of progress on weight, BMI, and body fat percentage.

    Working on:
    1. Posture exercises 6/7 days
    2. Stretch/Mobility 5/7 days
    3. Weights 2/7 days
    4. Sleep - be in bed before midnight 5/7 days
    5. active hours 8/12 hours 6/7 days

For my mental health I will be organizing my photos, working on creative projects, trying to get my life together aka organizing my home. I'll make a chart to help me stay on top of those things.

@lisakatz2 You're doing a great job! I think what your doctor meant was that he wants the best for you and that means to keep doing what you've been doing. Most patients don't even get started or quit after things get hard. My doctor told me she just prescribes medicine because people don't follow through on what they say they'll do to try to improve their health without it. That was annoying!! And infuriating. I really need a new doctor but haven't gotten around to making the change. I would say don't read too much into your doctor's comment.

    12/3: 251.2 coming back down

Didn't have a walk but unpacked, and made a yummy healthy dinner yesterday. Got a good night sleep last night.

@jenbroussard71 Onderland is so near. I need to focus on protein too.

@CupcakeCrusoe I actually lost weight when I went on our cruise. We walked around the boat in the morning and swam in the pool in the afternoon. I like that you set up next years spreadsheet.

@lisakatz2 My daughter's doctor said the same thing to her and she felt the same way you did. I think when we lose a significant weight it is good to take a rest from a deficit and let your body get used to your new weight. Then losing the next weight is easier and healthier. Congrats on your progress.

@nebslip I need to make a chart of things I need to do too. I have been focusing on my health but I need to start working on some projects soon. I like your exercise schedule. I want to 1st get my stamina up then set up something similar.

Weight loss since retiring almost 14.6 lbs.

    December Goals:

    • December GW: Get into the mid to lower half of the 240s -
    • Keep my water intake up
    • Keep getting 7-8 hours of sleep
    • Meal plan and cook 3+ dinners

When I had my eye issues and the Doctor said to not do anything strenuous and when I told her I had done aquafit the day before she said oh don’t do that. I decided I had to take a break from my primary focus of exercising and make it losing weight again. The problem with that was that I was about to go on a trip with no scale. I usually weigh everyday. But I really didn’t eat that much on my trip or even at Thanksgiving dinner but the 3 days after we went to Dim Sum and after we flew home we went out to dinner because we had to wait for N’s flight at 10. So I wasn’t surprised when I weighed over 250 yesterday. I am not surprised that after eating normally at home for 2 days I have lost weight. However I expected to be down at my last low not to have made progress. Yay! I want to get down to the mid 240s by Christmas and after Christmas maybe lose some more. We have a birthday and an anniversary to celebrate too. But actually I think a big calorie day spread thinly through lower calorie days actually help from your body fighting you by lowering your metabolism. You need to keep your body guessing.
So 2 days of eating my normal healthy meals at a deficit has done their job faster than I would think.

But now I need to refocus again to walking longer each day. I also have PT exercises to do for my left shoulder. I want to add in some exercises to keep strong.

I will continue to make healthy meals at home at a deficit except for my husbands birthday on the 8th.
