Our choir had its Christmas concert on Sunday. It was wonderful to be part of it.
I am deciding I need to find time during the week to schedule my painting. I love the group I paint with but we have gotten so big there is not always space for all. So I plan to just check in with them and see what they are up to and try to get ideas for my own painting projects. We only have an hour and a half to paint and to bring all my painting equipment and have time for paint to dry just doesn't work for me. Plus they paint over the lunch hour.
Today a friend and I are going to take a break from all and go to see the movie Wicked.
I wrote a friend today who I learned in her Christmas card is struggling with arthritis and sons with mental illness to look further into the diet for both conditions. Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease which diet can help with inflammation. In the text I am reading I am seeing more and more from doctors I respect they are starting to see how unregulated blood sugar and unhealthy gut can affect both mood and inflammation in the body. Now finding healthy foods and the initial sticking to a better a diet is a challenge.
I can say for myself because of eating this way for a year willpower is no longer an issue for me. I sat next to a pile of cookies and fried egg rolls yesterday and had no desire to eat either one. They are just foods I no longer eat!
My motivations stems from I look better, I feel better, and my clothes fit better. There is my will power. It did not happen over night. I figure I am in a marathon and not a sprint.6 -

Rained all night last night ,but sunny and in the 50s today.
Im not feeling so hot today..tired and a bit achy..have to take Sean to Dr tomorrow morning,then take Doris grocery shopping.
Have to stop at the garage and have them figure out the tire pressure on my car.

Carol, Our other dog is Bessie who is 12 years old. She is a rescue from a dog hoarding situation in Texas. We got her in 2017. She is shy and doesn't like to walk far but she is happy with us and will play with Annie until Annie gets too rough.Tracey, A woman who lives at the end of my block puts lights along her fence and on her bushes early in December. She keeps the lights on 24 hours a day because many days here are so overcast that it's dark in the daytime. She leaves the lights on until the end of January. The days here are short in December and January although not as short as they are where you live.Rita, I hope you can find and use the tools to let go of your daughter who seems to hurt you so often.Margaret, I admire how you look at what's not working in your life a seek a solution. You inspire me to do the same.

While the crust of the chocolate dessert for Jess was cooling we went thru the Christmas gifts. The only other thing I have to buy is a birthday card for Ken. We’re waiting for a list from Jess to buy for her. Vince ordered things for Colby today and he’s going to take care of buying for the cats and dogs. Afterward, made the filling for the chocolate dessert and have it in the freezer along with the rest of the whipped topping which I’ll put on right before we eat it.
Heather – big congrats to Edie!!! You all must be so very proud
Heather – I couldn’t get the RSV. I wanted it but I’m not 75 (yet) and I don’t have any of the things that would make it bad to get (no COPD, no liver or kidney problems, etc). Vince could since he has asthma.
Tomorrow I go to the podiatrist. I still occasionally feel a bit of burning where the “callous” was but I’m suspecting this might be because the bandage fell off so fast two weeks ago. The biggest problem now is my heel hurting. I’m going to talk to him about it. Don’t know if prednisone would help or not. Still icing it, but I really don’t see any improvement. Maybe it’s so small that I just don’t realize it.
A lady around here was giving away banana boxes. She’d used them for moving up here from FL. So I picked up about 10, took them to the soup kitchen.
Tomorrow I’m thinking that I’ll do a body pump DVD then water class.
Here’s the plate that I made for Colby for Christmas. He’s really into the space program but I could only find small decals so I had this one made.
I also picked up my Miss Piggy. Now I’m working on Kermit the Frog. Unfortunately, the mold just said “Miss Piggy” but it’s really “holiday Miss Piggy”. I didn’t realize this until a few months later. Well, if I find the other Miss Piggy, this can always be used in the house. Kermit is really a St. Patrick’s day Kermit, but that’s OK.Vince is at the dentist right now. After here, I’ll probably start wrapping

Kylia – never heard of vinegar for keeping kittens away from things, but sure can’t hurt to try so I will give it a try. Do you use any special type of vinegar (like apple cider) or will plain white vinegar work?
Diana – I am like you, to me it is so much easier to have meals portioned out and frozen so all I have to do is pull it from the freezer. Don’t have to think

Hello, my babies...
Well, before I made my breakfast, I decided to get a few small things done in terms of cleaning up from my Corey project and clearing the decks for the next one. While I was doing that, I started painting a pair of wrought iron candle plinths that I picked up at the thrift store (I'll put up pics later of before and after).
I've learned that this kind of painting, which needs to dry in between colors, is a good time to get lots of quick house chores done that need doing. So, I got a load of laundry done, refilled things, gathered up the garbage and got it outside, got the first two colors on the plinths... and talked to Corey while I was doing all that for his "good morning" call.
Just about the minute he got off the phone, my gut started going sideways and hasn't really let up until just the last few minutes. Hate being nauseated - In my opinion, it's one of my top three least-favorite symptoms of this disease, coming in third only to diarrhea and vertigo. All that was said to note that I still haven't had breakfast, dang it! And here it is nearly noon...
That's OK, it does seem as if the routine of starting my eating between 11 a.m. and noon and cutting it off naturally by about 7 p.m. is keeping my weight hovering nearer the bottom of my maintenance range, and that is definitely a good thing. It's ridiculous but true that I feel better at 155 than I do at 160. It's only a 3% difference, but it's enough to make my clothes fit better, as Margaret noted.
Am halfway through the hot tea I made to settle my tummy, and am feeling much, much better than the last couple hours. Starting to feel hungry, which is always a good sign on the bad mornings...

I've got another bag in mind, practically got it built in my mind, just need to get it going, but I'm backing and filling for some reason that is not yet clear. My only deadlines are self-imposed. I will grok in the fullness of time, I'm sure.

So, I am indulging husband and not looking in the checkbook where its logged the companies he bought thru for Christmas. This is the first time that all the presents under the tree were bought and wrapped by him. I have no idea what they are. So no balancing the checkbook every other week for me! I have already decided since he is marking off things that cleared, and just not balancing it, that I will have my work cut out for me after Christmas. But on the good side, its a nice change and the excitement on my husbands face is worth the math. I might even just wing it and if I am off $5 here and there, make the additions or deductions and move on. Not go on a silly hunt for pennies.

Well, got just about everything wrapped.
Carol – most of my ceramics are at least 9” tall, some larger. I think I do have a few that are only 7” and Eyore and Piglet (which I haven’t done yet) are probably smaller. Trust me, a steady hand I do not have. I go by the 5 foot rule...if it looks good from 5 feet away, it’s good enough
Margaret I hear ya about groups getting bigger. When we joined Newcomers, there were less than 100 members. To me, it was so nice and intimate, we had activities in people’s homes. Then it grew to over 300 members. To me, it lost a lot of the closeness. That’s one of the reasons we quit. I’m so glad that the ceramics is on the smaller side. There are usually 12-15 people at ceramics, occasionally less and sometimes more. But I really like the closeness. You really get to know people well. Besides, it’s really not fun painting with a big crowd. So I hear ya

Up to 20 Christmas cards back from friends and family! I send like 65 cards out, so hopefully receiving 50% back by the New Year is good enough for me! I only have 27 flowered clips anyways!😂💖🎄

I was told yesterday to go to a 3 day one that is about 3 hours from here. I went to the pharmacy today after work to see if the pharmacist had a suggestion on help with an issue I’m having. I spent 2 hours in the craft room tonight and managed to get 3 more layouts done in Kaitlyn’s album. I have 8 more to go, but have some ideas so hopefully they’ll go fast.
I’m so thankful she is coming to help me wrap on Saturday!
Well it is past 10 and I try to be in bed by then, so good night all.

$800 is a LOT of money when you don't know if you will even break even. I would never spend what the guys do to do the shows. I would rather not have as many sales but not the worry of just breaking even instead of the way they do. Plus, for us, the big shows, we have more competition for pretty much the same type of things- yes, his are different and he does seem to focus on them when I don't go and help.
His items are higher priced for the one of a kind ones.
I got the boxes of treats dropped off at the PO after going to MIL's and helping dh with her. He is still in a very angry, bitter mood. He is home now taking a shower then we will go shopping for her before he goes back. Got home and he started cleaning the catio litter box-the only one I don't clean- he came in all mad because I didn't put the cat food in the cannister- said we(son and I) lived here, the least we could do was do that- No acknowledgement of all the stuff I did do. I told him- I did everything else, that was the one thing I didn't do then I walked out.
Hopefully he can get some sleep and not stay over there again tonight- he doesn't need to.
She is better- taking her off the meds that caused her to hallucinate is wearing off.
Need to hopefully do more decorating and then start on cards this evening.
Hoping for a quiet, peaceful evening. Just lights on the tree, tv off and him back in his room and not ranting about his mother all the time.

Carol - I looked at several recipes and picked the simplest, that reminded me of the previous one I couldn't find. I even simplified it some more. It still took me 45 minutes and lots of washing up. But I like things that can just be served up on the day with no hassle. The sea bass cooks in 2 minutes. I have bought mini naans that can heat up in the toaster. My brother may only have a spoonful, as he is bringing his own food. He has lost his sense of taste anyway. Can just about taste sweet or salt.
Tracey - they will stay at the school until they leave, probably to go to university. So it's 11-18. My husband and I don't believe in private education, so we have mixed feelings, but we are pleased for her, as she really wanted to go there. She is a little bit dyslexic in writing, and has been working really hard with a private tutor. This evening she gave us a recital of some Christmas music on her cello. She really isn't perfect at anything, but has an extraordinary ability to be humbly determined. I really admire her attitude. It's the same with her sports. Not being the best doesn't deter her, unlike her younger sister who is super competitive at everything and talented beyond her eight years.
Max announced he would like to come over for a walk with John on Thursday. They will eat first at the café around the corner, then walk and talk along the seafront. The problem with private schools is that they have much longer holidays than state ones, so he has already stopped for Christmas. The girls are at school until Friday.
I will have a quick hoover tomorrow and tidy, but my brother and his wife are good guests because they have such low standards in their own house. It is always a tip! Hair wash first thing for me. I have felt really tired today, which I assume is a combo of my cold, not sleeping last night, and the jab. I did have a nap, but was still dragging. Fell asleep watching TV this evening. I'm hoping tomorrow is a new day.

It is so nice to come into a warm, cozy house after being outside in the cold and rain caring for critters. Makes me very grateful for the new furnace and heat pump. Christmas shopping done and mostly wrapped. Cats have not bothered the tree but messed with the presents under it and the crocheted tree skirt so presents are temporarily in the closet.
Sunday we sang a Christmas cantata at church. Then the men sponsored a potluck afterwards. Later in the afternoon I went with a friend to a Christmas concert and sing-along in Everett. It was a busy day but lots of fun. We had family here for Thanksgiving when we had no heat so it will be a warm quiet Christmas with just DD and me and we will enjoy it.
The farrier will be here this evening to trim horse and goat hooves so dinner is in the crockpot and we can eat whenever she is done.

Yes, we think it is the pain meds- she has been taking more often than before. Dh stopped that one and she isn't as bad today.
Yes, she has had UTI's before and really messed her up. That is what started all this drama where dh says he has to be at her place twice a day every day. She got disoriented and hallucinating- fell on the stairs and broke bones in her hand and wrist. The next day fell again while dh was in the bathroom(he had told her to just stay in her chair while he went to the bathroom)that time broke 3 ribs. He stayed with her 24/7 for a month or more. Only taking breaks when I could be there. I stayed a few nights until I pretended to be asleep and I watched her get up, use her comode chair all by herself, no problem. She didn't need me there. Then she got mad telling dh to make sure I didnt come back because I didn't do anything anyways. I was too tired to get up one time- worked all day, up almost all night, got a total of 30 min of broken sleep and had to rush home to work again..
This was 2 1/2 yrs ago.
She no longer needs the help but thinks she deserves to be waited on
She is better today so dh will come home at his usual time.
We used to have cameras all over her house so he could keep an eye on her but she doesn't want to pay for internet service for it. Wants him to pay for it even though it is to help him make sure she is ok..
Yesterday, she fell and laid on the floor for who knows how long because, she won't wear her LifeAlert which we are paying for every month- it sits inside a cabinet and she doesn't remember how to use her cell phone most of the time.
With the cameras, he can look on his phone and see if she is sleeping, if she is ok, etc.
He said he is going to put them back in and pay for the service then take the money for it out of her account without telling her. She has enough money to pay for it, not a problem but she doesn't want to.4 -

have you tried ginger tea for the nausea?
I have ginger tea and ginger candy(as well as fresh ginger for cooking) on hand all the time
The ginger tea I get is granulated so mix in hot water or just take a spoonful of it and eat that.(great in cooking too because it is a bit sweet along with the kick of the ginger)3 -

Our church will have their cantata this coming Sunday. I am so looking forward to it. The choir always does an amazing job. They sing a special every Sunday plus there is a solo/duet/group special music each Sunday
This past Sunday, the Sunday school kids put on their program. They did a great job- memorized a lot
for it.
It will be just mom and I as far as I know for Christmas eve and then one friend(my best friend's older sister) is planning on coming out on Christmas- her son and his wife will be working and mom and her have gotten really close in the past few years. She has been very helpful to mom which I really appreciate
Not sure what my son and his girlfriend are doing- they don't know yet if they will go to mom's or go to her house(she still lives at home with her parents in her brother and sister in laws house.
Dh said I could just stay at mom's Christmas night, no reason to come home. I am NOT falling for that one. Then it will be a pitty party- how I left him all alone with no food.......
I will NOT stay home for Christmas- I WILL be with my mom and not leave her all alone just to sit and listen to him cuss and rant. I will come home at my usual time, before it gets dark.
I have to work the next day anyways, as far as I know.
Made more cracker toffee with son and his girlfriend. Nice to have a little good in the house.

Debbie - Hallucinations is a side effect of some pills, UTI’s and also some diseases. I feel for you and your husband. I hope the doctor can help.
Heather - Breakfast for dinner is one of my favourite meals. I like it better at supper than at breakfast.
Kylia - sorry to hear about your SIL’s grandmother, hopefully the funeral goes off without incident.

I would like to set a timer on my inside lights. It angers me that I have to come home to do it, DH is sitting here and just can’t be bothered to say “Google turn on Christmas”. It meant a lot to me when he did it last year and I told him so.
Lisa - I build so much in my mind that never gets done. I need to get some actually completed.
Diana - I think it’s wonderful your meal prep is working. A true friend wouldn’t expect you to hire her daughter. What an unfortunate mess she made.
Carol - I remember my Dad and Grandfather going out and buying gifts for us. It meant so much to me. Lauryn actually mentioned the other day that she remembers the only gift she remembers her Dad picking out for her himself.
Barbie - More and more people areound here leave their lights up until the end of January. It’s sure helps with the dark.
Michele - a lady at work was on prednisone and has been put off work for two months now as she comes off it. She is sick and they think it’s something to do with that med.
Lisa - I had never heard the term plinth before. Those are pretty!
Heather - I don’t know how I feel about private schools, there weren’t any where I grew up and if there were any here when our girls were in school it wasn’t part of our world.

I got to see a lady today at the clinic that managed to get a doctor to prescribe an antibiotic for me. I sure hope it helps fast. I’m supposed to take one every 8 hours. I stayed up late tonight so I could get a second one in.

Good morning ladies!
Tracey - glad you were able to get into the "walk in" clinic attached to your pharmacy. That's a perfect solution for people who just need antibiotics to treat something and not have to try to get into a GP and maybe wait a day for an appointment.
Debbie - so glad you are able to get away at your mom's for Christmas Eve and I'm sure it will be nice to spend some time with your friend there on Christmas Day. Have you been able to walk in the wetlands recently? If the conditions there are like what I have here, you'd need farm boots that come to your knees, lol.
Lisa - those plinth/candle holders were a lucky find and you did a great job. They look very nice on the mantel.
Mo - I neglected to mention earlier how nice that Christmas tree looks in your mom's room.
Diana - you are doing a great job dealing with your responsibilities and the meal planning/box lunches. I agree - your friend who expected you to hire her daughter was out of line. If she's a good friend she'll realize her expectation was inappropriate.
I really enjoy making my grocery runs at 6 am this time of the year - I take a back road and there are a lot of homes that have their Christmas lights still on in early morning.
Wet and wild here. Yesterday we got a substantial amount of rain. I ended up carrying Rosie outside several times in the pounding rain and putting her in the backyard to get her business done. We both came back in soaked, but it was a success.
It's 2:30 am right now and 50 degrees, fairly windy, pelting rain hitting the windows. We are supposed to get a bit of sunshine this afternoon, looking forward to it. 
A few gifts to wrap today, then I'm calling it done. Yesterday I ran down the mail lady in the rain to give her a Christmas card (I always give the carrier a small Starbucks gift card). She said she'd worked 16 days in a row, the younger substitute carriers have been cancelling a the last minute. She's in and out of her car at nearly every house delivering packages. It's a tough job and I'm so grateful for her.
I'm going to make some vegetable beef soup in the crockpot today. Found a package of stew meat in the freezer and a jar of beef broth... so hope I don't lose power!

Depression is when you're worried about the past.
Anxiety is when you're worried about the future.
Happiness is when you're living in the moment.
I ran across a photo of when we first got the greenhouse (hoop house covered with heavy duty plastic) and the beautiful raised beds DH built, and the hog fuel (large clean wood chips) on the paths. The wood in the raised beds has since rotted and collapsed, the plastic on the greenhouse has been replaced in spots, is tattered and I finally just stapled a tarp over part of it last winter. The beautiful paths are now a muddy, weedy mess.
I had to pull myself out of the rut and remind myself that when I sell this place, someone will see it as a project and make it beautiful again. Trying not to get depressed.
I haven't heard anything from Dr. Lisa about the labs or the heart monitor, and there's a bit of anxiety and of course I tend to pay attention to every heartbeat. Which is ridiculous and serves no good purpose.
Well, I'm grateful I don't have any major problems or turmoil to deal with today. It has taken me a long time to appreciate "the moment." And that's kind of a moment-by-moment thing sometimes. I can find plenty of things to be happy about if I just stop and look around.
I need to get this posted before the power goes out. Hope it doesn't!
