@lita_loses_it_all You are right that this is the perfect group to join for the long haul! This is hands-down, the most supportive, kind, amazing group of people on the internet anywhere! And taking a long journey 10 days at a time has so many benefits. We can all attest to the fact that weight loss is not linear, so the group helps when the scales don't cooperate and cheers each other on when they do! I have learned so much here, and continue to every single day. Welcome to our group! Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to you!
What a lovely post!6 -

I’m going to acknowledge right up front that this will be the most difficult round of the year for me. No excuses though, just truth. Let’s DO this! I am stealing the Word of the Round from @Chapter_3 and @musicsax: ENGAGED--Staying engaged with my health goals in spite of celebrations and distractions sounds like a great goal for this round! Thank you, ladies!
12/22 153.2 I’ll take this after a day which included two meals out and a couple of drinks with dinner. I was very careful about food choices and drank lots of water. Went to see “A Christmas Carol” at University of Tennessee’s Theater last night, and it was delightful! Such a wonderful production!
12/23 152.2 Got in a nice long walk on a crisp, cold, beautiful afternoon and ate high protein. Fresh made sausage balls count as protein during Christmas week, if I’m not mistaken! Can you believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve? Tomorrow is our big day with grandchildren, and we always have an hors d'oeuvres meal that day. It’s my favorite! It’s been tradition in our family as long as I can remember. This first year without both of my parents, I am treasuring the traditions even more.

12/22 ⚖️131.0 ✅🚶♀️10k. Just jumped on ⚖️ real quickly to get going for today. I will make a more “ENGAGED” entry later.❤️😍 I look forward to tracking and spreadsheet- Just cannot do it today and will start tomorrow. Simple uptick from being out late last night. Cruddy sleep. TBH I thought 130 yesterday was low, but I’m good with 131 if that sticks because it was 1lb lost R281.Good nutrition yesterday. Good choices @ dinner. Small portions. One cocktail. Dinner went beautifully and I’m looking forward to cold but gorgeous weather - And celebrating with my son and his new bride! ONWARD! Big day ahead!
12/23 ⚖️ 131.4 ✅🏋️♀️🚶♀️10k💤10hrs!!!!
Not bad for two stressful but crazy fun days. Reviewing past 48 hr nutrition I’m quite pleased. Enjoyed my usual Sunday bacon & eggs for breakfast. Enjoyed LOTS of Champagne, two chocolate covered strawberries & FOUR Mexican Wedding cookies @ reception …. No other food. 💯 % carbs. 😂. I ENGAGED by purposely prioritizing VISITING and kept my DISTANCE from temptation. Skipped dinner cuz exhausted. I’ll post a couple of photos soon.
TODAY: 💦💦💯🚶♀️🏋️♀️
Cleanup/pickup work today. During my quiet time this morning, will think of how best to keep ENGAGED over the next few days while traveling. I’m thinking it won’t be realistic to keep a spreadsheet this final round of 2024 but I will definitely track all nutrition. Leaving in AM for NC. ONWARD!

@Chapter_3 Where in NC are you going? I grew up in Hickory, and spent tons of time in the NC mountains, especially in those trout streams. We also vacationed at the Outer Banks quite a bit growing up. Mom and Dad used to love to surf fish from the truck at Cape Hatteras. Those were great times! I don't know much about the regions in between the two though. Have a safe trip!3

Hi, I'm Charissa, losing the battle but still fighting the war!
Thank you, QuiltingJaine, for keeping us focused in 2024!
I'm gearing up mentally and physically for 2025
With just 10 days left, I am focusing on reinforcing good habits and introducing a few more to take me into the new year. Not focusing on the scale for now. I am also happy this round ends on 12/31 and we start the year FRESH and ENGAGED
Opening Comments from round 281I'm ending another year NOT where I want to be, actually slightly higher (right now)and that's not a good thing.
BUT ~ I fear to think where I might be had I just thrown in the towel completed.
My goal for the remainder of 2024 is to get to my starting weight for 2024, and that will be two years in a row, which is a wash.
Putting all into perspective - maintaining is a WIN
In the last 27 years, I have
* Lost 4 times (2 were in the last 5 years, which answers the question of what if I didn't even try!)
* Maintained 2 times
* Gained 21 times
2024... my motto(s) - All the things I need to read daily!!!
🏋🏾♀️ Don't think, just do it!!
Eat well 🥗to Live Well 🚢✈️🧳
H2O - Make it Flow 💦💦💦
Lose weight in the kitchen ⚖️, get fit in the gym🏋🏾♀️
Note to Self: Alcohol kills weight loss as the focus is burning alcohol calories and not fat calories!🚫🍷
Goals this round:

12/22 ~ 227.4 ~ tomorrow’s number will not be pretty. I actually made the cookies on Saturday and did really well. I think I had two. Today, not so much, I’ve made up for restraint I had. Tis the season and It’s only one day. While I make several types, there are only two that I really like and they are almost gone! Yipee!!!
12/23 228.3 ~ totally expected. Now that I’ve gotten those cookies out of my system, we should start moving downward!

Back again. This time I am sticking as I got a big wake up call when I went clothes shopping last night. I don't want to look like this anymore, I don't want to feel like this anymore, and I don't want my kids following this example I have set. So, I am all in, and can't wait to see what happens over the 10 days.

ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND 190.6
12/22-193.0-(Trend Weight: 192.2)- Lots of fun at the birthday party for my DGS’s 9th birthday. He is the one who is also on the autism spectrum and I was so thrilled to see so many children and their parents there. Socialization is so hard for many with autism. I went through this with my son who is also on the spectrum. There was pizza, cheese bread, cake & ice cream and all the fixings. I managed to keep portions to a “not bad” level. However, I got super hungry at 1:00 in the morning and ended up eating a large bowl of soup with about 12 round crackers. That didn’t help the scale this morning. I’m hoping tomorrow will show I’ve flushed all the sodium and that my weight is in check. I don’t expect progress after all that, but if I can be back to 190 point anything like yesterday, I will take it as a win. I don’t want to spend this entire round chasing my tail. This is going to be the hardest round of 2024 due to the holidays and traditions (did someone say cookies and fudge?) Good luck to you all this round. I am cheering you on. Know that you all inspire me to be a better version of me and I am grateful.
12/23-DNW-(Trend Weight: DNW)- What a snowstorm we are having! I had 4 hair appointments today that I called and cancelled last night when I saw the weather reports. No way was I driving in this mess to pick up (and then later take home) both my DGS’ for their appointments linked with mine and my sons. I completely forgot to weigh today as I jumped in my boots and went out to shovel before UPS and FED EX arrived. Then came right back in to my hot coffee that was waiting. Oh well. It’s not the first time I’ve done things out of order and forgot to weigh. Anyway…..I have been reflecting on 2024 this morning. I started the year with a weight of 183.8. I’m feeling a little sad today. There is no way that 2024 will be a banner year for me. All I can do is focus on improving from where I stand right now. Shall I end the year with a whimper or a bang? It’s a tough time of year but it is always up to me. In the season of gifts, the greatest gift I can give to myself is dedication to my health. That kinda sounds like a New Year’s resolution, doesn’t it?

12/23 - 163.7 - I've managed to survive the trip but with a lot of hiccups and stress - the car broke down just as I got home but at least we made it all the way home first! Not enough water Friday, Saturday, and yesterday. Trying to catch back up today as best I can. Travel foods Friday and Saturday - yesterday was a mess since there was a lot of unplanned goings on. That's typical when the kiddos are here. Today is a bit more planned at least and I was able to pre-log my food for lunch/dinner. Gym this morning with StepDaughter [SD]. She'll be going with me the next 7 days the gym is open so it'll be helpful to get my butt up and moving during the holiday festivities! Glad to be here, I missed you all!

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.

12/22 136.5 New refrigerator arrived - WOW, is it big! DH and I went to grab a bite while we waited for it to cool down then came home to put the food in. It’s so different I know it will get rearranged.
While we were eating DH said we need to get back to eating right. (He realizes it all went to pieces when he had each of his shoulders replaced and then got on the HOA board.) I told him I had already decided to just start anew on New Year’s Day.
12/23 137.0 I am currently having a really bad vertigo attack. Moving my eyes is making me dizzy. Our Christmas traditions began in 1976, when we moved into our first house. Christmas Eve pizza and Christmas morning “sticky buns.” These continue with both daughters and their families, I believe. And this year for the first time in almost 4 decades we are going to a NYE party.6 -
@Chapter_3 Where in NC are you going? I grew up in Hickory, and spent tons of time in the NC mountains, especially in those trout streams. We also vacationed at the Outer Banks quite a bit growing up. Mom and Dad used to love to surf fish from the truck at Cape Hatteras. Those were great times! I don't know much about the regions in between the two though. Have a safe trip!
@UTMom81
We are headed to Saphire near the Highlands. Staying with friends and hiking! I think you’re around Charlotte perhaps?
@quiltingjaine Hoping your vertigo heals soon!

Photos from Saturday night dinner & Sunday reception. Of course, I have to feature DGS Tucker and (me). My DS, Sam and his bride, Brenna. My DH is taking photos so he is absent from these!7 -
Found one of my hubby Mark and couldn’t resist the other two. Still on a high from yesterday’s events.
The reception was held at Sam & Brenna’s home. The Justice of the Peace did a remarkable job!6 -

@bigapplebritt88 ~ I hope your puppy is ok!
Thank you! He is not 100% yet but definitely better. We all finally got some semblance of sleep last night.

@BigappleBritt88 I just went through a bout of tummy issues with my senior dog.
I highly suggest rice/chicken/pumpkin (google for ratio) diet for a day or two. I make a batch when needed, leave two days in the fridge and freeze the rest in single serving portions. Future me always appreciates it when it’s needed!
I couldn’t believe the food at the movies- Cheeto popcorn, gas station style pizza, hot dogs, pretzels but you are right not a single slightly lower calorie option.
That is a great idea to freeze ahead. I do that for our own dinners when I make a lot but didn’t think to do it for the dog. I made him rice the day this started. Need to go grab some chicken and pumpkin. Our other dog has had it before but this will be his first. A silver lining for him lol.
I went to the movies last weekend when my mom came to visit and the entire day before I was talking myself out of eating an entire jumbo popcorn. When we got there I ended up getting Raisinets and sharing popcorn with my mom. So there was that. But yes they have everything even full bars at the movies now. So crazy.3 -

BackstoryIn 2022 I was around 157lbs with 24% bf. Was definitely in the “best shape” of my adult life then. Since then I started a new career working from home as a developer. Have moved away from my family for fiancés job. We’ve moved several times to various states in a short time span. So far we’ve moved 3 times, all about 9 months apart. Welcomed two puppies into the mix. Lots of changes. Lots of time spent at home. Lots of time spent away from family. Fell out of touch with friends. All of the adjustments and figuring out how to manage/handle more daily responsibilities and navigate through this phase of life has manifested into me gaining 20+lbs and losing a lot of willpower, motivation, drive, positivity, etc that I once thrived on. Found this challenge and it has been helping me get it back. Nothing is permanent! Looking forward to working through this.
Overall Goals and ChallengesGoals
1. Focusing on behavior and mindset. Calories have been going way over for so long I need to reel the behavior back in a healthy way.
2. Don’t give up on the day when it’s challenging. Choose to make good decisions in those moments instead of giving in.
Challenges
1. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.
2. Sleeping less (have two puppies, a 7mo and a 11mo old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.
Daily, Small, Attainable Goals1. Finish 1st 27oz water before 2pm
2. Finish 2nd 27oz water before bed
3. Alternate standing and sitting at desk every other hour during working hours (or stand at least half of the day).
4. Hit maintenance calories.

Wins: past couple of days have been going better. Close to maintenance calories consistently and still enjoying holiday treats.
Challenges: worked today so the holiday treat was had a bit early. I’ll need to drink the rest of my water and figure out how to adjust for the rest of the night. Maybe some veggies as a snack if I get hungry again. SO looking forward to Xmas and having the next two days off. 🎄6 -

Fell off the challenge bandwagon in round 256, managed to keep losing weight until June 12th when I hit 155.9 (70.7 kg). I fell off the weight loss wagon shortly after. Decided to start back up the day before Round 278 started.

12/23- 156 (70.8 kg) Not surprised after a night out with meatloaf, mashed potatoes and brown gravy and a side of chili for dinner last night. We did walk the boardwalk after that dinner to see the Christmas lights since it was a mild night and only sprinkling a tiny bit. It's been unseasonably warm, about 43° (6° C) last night and the wind wasn't blowing either.
