@trooworld That’s a good idea to wear a mask. Too bad about the migraine. @theslightedgeforever Good job on staying within your calories and resisting the candy and only eating one cookie that you like. It looks like you are doing the activity that you can do. And weight loss is more calorie deficit than activity. Hi, all. DH saw the orthopedic doctor today and he is doing well. I put the ingredients for Skinnytaste’s honey sesame chicken in the slow cooker. I have made it before and it’s good. I made 11/2 recipes so I’ll have some for tomorrow night. Tonight is the night that my DD and her family come over. I went for a walk after lunch since it’s in the 60’s.

@theslightedgeforever Thank you. That's a good reason to not get sick again. Good job with the treadmill and staying within your calories...that must have been hard with homemade treats in the house.

@fabgeekmom Thank you. I'm glad your DH is doing well per the doctor. I hope you had a fun family dinner night.

Hi all. That migraine yesterday was really bad, it was the worst it's been in years. It feels like it could come back today. I ended up going home early yesterday because of the migraine. I tried to stay, I went in our wellness room for my lunch break but my head hurt just as bad when I came out. I came home and slept on the couch. When I woke up a few hours later, my head hurt less.

    Water yesterday: 35.6 oz

@fabgeekmom I did well yesterday with the homemade treats but then I had friends over for breakfast today and made some Alabama pecan bread. That's addicting. So..... Great news about your hubby. Agree with you about calorie deficit versus exercise.

@trooworld I was noticing your water was low on the day you had a migraine. Are the two related or is it your head hurt so bad you didn't think about drinking water. I hope it's better today.

No exercise as of yet. I will go walk on the treadmill.

@trooworld Sorry about the migraine. Hope you’re feeling better now. @theslightedgeforever Pecan bread sounds good! Hi, all. I went swimming today. The water felt cold but I was able to complete my laps. Tonight we went to see our granddaughter’s Christmas concert. We enjoyed watching her in the band. Dinner was late and luckily we had leftovers from last night.

@theslightedgeforever I think it's that my head hurt so bad, I didn't think about drinking water...I had plenty of liquids that day that had a water component to it (coffee, etc). I woke up with a mini headache and I hope it doesn't turn into a full-blown migraine. I think this one is because I am nervous about tomorrow. Did you walk on the treadmill?

@fabgeekmom Thank you! Good job with the swim, I'm sorry it was cold brrrr. I'm glad you enjoyed the concert.

Hi all. Tomorrow is the day. I made a checklist of things to pack for my overnight stay at the hospital. As of yesterday, I've lost 6.4 lbs on the liquid diet since 12/11 but I actually started it on 12/10 so it's probably more like 7-9 lbs lost. I need to start taking my measurements. A friend from my hometown made me a beautiful needlepoint piece of one of my pugs, it's fabulous and was very thoughtful.

    Water yesterday: 70.3 oz

@trooworld I agree that stress about your surgery may have caused the headache. You’re almost there! That was kind of your friend to give you the needlepoint of your pug. I used to do needlepoint but nothing that hard. Good job on the weight loss and sticking to the liquid diet. Hi, all. It’s cold again today. Normal December temperatures but I got used to the warmer temperatures. I’ll do indoor exercise today. Dinner is Skinnytaste Chicken Romano Meatballs with angel hair pasta. I’ll get a vegetable to go with it.

Afternoon all, Same here, going to PT, picking up daughter from school, homework, all the fun stuff. My PT person had an emergency leave and now I have someone else and she thinks I need to up my game...so I see her 1 more time and decide then if it's my last or what to do. All I know is I am up 9 lbs and miserable since I hurt my knee. Baby girl is on vacation after tomorrow..YEA! I need one too! LOL

@theslightedgeforever I always think of mom with pecans (pecan pie). I bet she would have loved your bread. I think you and @fabgeekmom are right about the calories vs exercise. I am going to see the Dr tomorrow to try to get some blood test done...afraid my sugar levels are high..DUH, I think I have Dad's test strips here somewhere..LOL

@fabgeekmom You are a brave women to get in the pool with it being cool/cold water...LOL. I like my pool water, like my bath water..WARM! I hope you enjoyed the Christmas concert.

@trooworld I can't believe it's already here..that went quick. So sorry about the migraines...I have been having some horrible headaches this past week...not sure if it's the weather, glasses, no sleep, but I will be glad when they stop. I hope your stays away now so you can focus on your day tomorrow and after. Congratulations on the loss..I think like the weather you sent me those lbs!!! LOL. Will be keeping you in my prayers tomorrow.. Good luck and you got this!!

@cbabie I’m sorry you are miserable. If the therapist thinks you need to step up your game, you must be progressing. Hi, all. I’m starting the thread as @trooworld is having her surgery. I’m thinking of her and hope all is well. It’s cold and damp here. I am going to call and see if the pool is open. If not I’ll do my indoor exercises. Dinner last night was good. Tonight is simple: pork chops, baked potatoes and sautéed squash. A neighbor brought us some cookies. I didn’t eat any. DH and DS ate one and said they were not good. So in the trash they went!

@cbabie I hope going to see your doctor helped. Hi, all. All is well here. It’s cold outside so I rode my bike. Tonight we are going to my cousin’s house for dinner. Her daughter and grandsons are visiting from Rhode Island. We haven’t seen them in a quile so it’ll be fun. Food is always good at her house and I am going to try portion control.

Sorry I've been missing. Thursday I had bookclub and then yesterday I was just lazy and didn't really do anything but read.

@fabgeekmom I'm glad you got to swim. How was the concert? I always loved being in the holiday concerts.

@trooworld Thinking about you. I can't believe they only give you one night in the hospital. Congratulate yourself for the weight you have dropped prior to your big day. Lots of discipline there.

@cbabie Think about this. Weight loss is probably around 75-80% diet and 20-25% exercise. What's one small thing you could change to start dropping off the weight you have gained recently. How about reducing sugar grams from your baseline. Go into your food diary from last week and see how many sugar grams you ate for the week. Did you track all the food you ate? That might be your first small step. Test strips do expire. I like my showers HOT. I hate pecan pie.

@gemwolf110 Are you on vacation from school right now?

It's that time of the year to start thinking about how you have progressed this year and what do you need to change in 2025.

I've lost 5 lbs in 2 months so that's progress. I need to work more on consistent intentional exercise

@theslightedgeforever The concert was fun! It reminded me of when my children were in school. I love pecan pie! Luckily I eat it once a year on Thanksgiving. Very high in calories. I agree with the advice you gave @cbabie.

@fabgeekmom Actually, I messed up: it's counted cross stitch. I do love it! Thank you. I hope you enjoyed your exercise and your dinner. Thank you for starting the thread. I hope it was warm enough for the pool to be open. Good job with the cookies!

@cbabie Sorry about your gain. Hopefully, your knee will be back to normal soon. Yes, it did go by quickly! Maybe it's a combo of all those things. I have a tiny bit of a headache today. LOL sorry for sending the pounds your way!!! :D Thank you.

    @gemwolf110 Thank you very much!

@theslightedgeforever Thank you for thinking of me. I'm actually fine! More about that below. Yes, lots of discipline. It is indeed that time of year! Congrats on your 5 lbs down.

Hi all. I'm back! I feel pretty good. Just a slight discomfort in my belly. The surgeon said it was a textbook case, with no problems at all. They are very pleased with how it went. I bet it helped to stick to the liver-shrinking diet. I'm glad I did so well. I got home yesterday at about 2 pm. I've been sleeping a LOT. Most of the time, in fact. I am able to swallow liquids with no problem. Things are well. I can't believe I've had my surgery!

@trooworld I did counted cross stitch many years ago. I don’t have the patience to do that or any needle work now. I’m glad you are recovering well. Sleeping is good for you. Hi, all. I went grocery shopping to get the rest of the stuff we need for Christmas. I rode my bike as it’s too cold to go outside. Last night was fun and I didn’t overeat. I remembered how uncomfortable I felt after Thanksgiving. My daughter sees a nutritionist and that was one technique she suggested to avoid overeating.

@fabgeekmom I wouldn't either, it looks like a lot of work! I'm glad you went today for the Christmas stuff, tomorrow will be crazy!

Hi all. I am doing well. I need to call the surgeon's office as I have some questions about my recovery (for one: when can I drive?). I'm trying not to take any pain pills as I know that will delay when I get to drive. I'm in a little pain: just the shoulder/collarbone area from gas pains. Other than that, I'm doing really well.

Morning all, I have not eaten well or exercised much this weekend. I was full of anxiety for some reason. I did talk to my Dr and she is having my AC1, thyroid, Insulin, cortisol, all the things I complained about..LOL I can't take the blood test until after the holidays. So I am hoping to take this time when baby girl is out of school to relax a bit...and set goals for the next year. I don't really believe in the New Years resolution...I think that just gives everyone a deadline to pick something...even if they are not mentally ready for it.

@trooworld I am so glad you did so well in surgery...also don't NOT take pain meds if you are hurting. That will just make your stress levels go up and that is not good either. BUT I am made the same way and only take them when I am dying...My middle daughter says why do you suffer..that is why we have pain pills...LOL

@fabgeekmom Glad you have the indoor exercises to do...it keeps you moving and in routine. (healthy) Good job on not overeating..

@theslightedgeforever Yes tracking is very important and I start out good, but don't finish..trying again today. I do believe it's more nutrition than movement..but it is both and I need to improve on both. Congrats on the loss good work!!!

@trooworld I think you are wise to not take pain pills unless you are in terrible pain. I’m glad you’re doing so well. @cbabie I’m sorry you are in such pain. Enjoy your time with baby girl while she’s out of school. Hi,all. Dinner last night at DD’s house was healthy. DS made America’s Test Kitchen oatmeal raisin cookies. I ate one and enjoyed it. DD and her DD are coming over to decorate gingerbread cookies. We do this every year. I’m preparing Skinnytaste One Pot orzo with sausage (turkey), corn and spinach.

@cbabie It's hard to do anything when anxiety hits, I get it too. I hope the tests give you some answers. Yes, relax...do some crafts! I sometimes make goals for the year but I don't call them resolutions. Goals are adjustable. Thank you. The surgeon specifically said on the pain pill bottle for pain on a level of 7-10 so I"m trying to stick to that. The pain is about a 7 but I really want to be able to drive since my husband doesn't drive yet (he has his license, just hasn't practiced enough). I think the pain is better today.

@fabgeekmom Thank you! That's good you had a healthy dinner. The dessert sounds good. How fun to decorate gingerbread cookies!

Hi all. I think the shoulder pain is marginally better today. I think I will try to put yoga pants on today, I've been in a nightshirt since Saturday. I've been on clear liquids since the surgery but today, I get to go back on the diet that allows protein shakes, pureed soups, and cream of wheat and oatmeal. I've been eating very low calories because I can't get enough in at this point (just bone broth and jello, really). I think I'll feel more energetic now that I can have protein shakes.

@trooworld I’m glad the pain is easing a bit. And that you can eat more. Hi, all. Happy Christmas Eve! Today I plan to ride my bike and maybe go for a walk even though it’s still cold. Actually it’s going to be cold for the next 3 months although occasionally we have some warmer weather. Tonight we go to our daughter’s house. She’s preparing ham, sweet potatoes and biscuits. DS made the collards last night. DH and I need to straighten the house for tomorrow. DH is going to vacuum. We are having 11 for dinner tomorrow as my cousin’s daughter and grandsons are joining us.

Good Morning all, I can't believe it's Christmas Eve already. I haven't really been able to get into the "season" except for baby girl. I wonder if that is what happens when you get older? NOT, my mom loved Christmas until the day she died..LOL I have been baking and eating..so I am not even going to try to stay on track, just be mindful and not eat the whole pan of fudge..LOL.

@fabgeekmom Yum Oatmeal raisin cookies. I loves those. Not sure why I didn't make any this year..maybe because I knew I would eat them all. :). I hope you have a good dinner with your family and a relaxing day!

@trooworld So glad you are doing better. I understand you wanting to drive. I am glad I am still driving..my daughter always tells me she thinks she should take my keys...LOL I tell her I will just call her everytime I want to go somewhere.. :). I am so proud that you are following your plan and are doing so well. I am sure you will feel more energetic with some type of solid in your system and not just liquids.
Cream of wheat and oatmeal sound yummy especially since it's cold. Have a good Christmas day and enjoy being home and just have fun.

@fabgeekmom Yes, me too! Merry Christmas to you and your family. That sounds like a good plan, I hope you can tolerate the cold. That sounds like a good dinner. Wow, 11, that's a lot! Good luck with your prep.

@cbabie Yeah it kind of snuck up on us, didn't it? Are you tracking right now? I am glad I am doing better as well. LOL I bet that shut your daughter up, didn't it? Thank you. I am doing very well. I was very happy to have a bowl (although small) of cream of wheat yesterday. Today I will have it again. You have a great Christmas as well!

@gemwolf110 Awww, that's cute! Merry Christmas to you as well!

Hi all. The shoulder pain is definitely better today (although still there some). I got out of the house yesterday: my husband got off early so we went to a coffee shop. It was nice to sit and read. Then we went to our favorite used book store and I got a couple of books. Not that I needed more lol. Today, we are going to the movies to see the new Nosferatu movie. I hope it lives up to my expectations. I love the old black-and-white version and consider that perfection, so we'll see. Merry Christmas to all!

@cbabie I agree that Christmas came really fast. Do try to be mindful and don’t eat too much sweets. That’s hard as we don’t get stuff like that too often. @trooworld It’s good that you’re able to leave the house and your pain is lessening. I hope you enjoy the movie. Hi, all. Merry Christmas! I don’t have too much to do as DS is cooking. DD will bring potato salad and chocolate cake. I’m looking forward to having everyone one over. DD is bringing a card table. The dining room will be crowded but all will be fine. My cousins don’t celebrate Christmas so it will be fun sharing the holiday with them.

@fabgeekmom Thank you! That's good that DS cooked and DD brought some things as well. I hope all went well.

Hi all. I discovered yesterday that I have been drinking too much liquids: I think I am only supposed to have 4 oz per hour and I've been drinking about 12 oz per hour. I am going to call them today (hopefully they are open) and straighten out my confusion. I don't want to get dehydrated. The pain in my shoulder is completely gone and I feel great. As of yesterday, I have lost 13 lbs since Dec 11th, 5.5 lbs since Friday. We went to see Nosferatu and none of us liked it. It could have been about 30-45 minutes shorter and it just didn't have the appeal of the first one.

    Morning all,

We had Christmas at my daughters. The kids had a blast. She got baby boy a jeep and baby girl drove them around her backyard. Dinner was good, I tasted everything. LOL. We have so many toys at my house right now...more dinosaurs than I can count. LOL. I was supposed to get my blood taken today, but wrong time. So I got a different appointment. I really was wanting my results before the new year, but figure it will be when it is and I just go from there.

@trooworld I am so glad you are without pain and you enjoyed reading outside. sorry Nosferatu was a bust. No I am not tracking..I used to be so diligent. So trying to get back to that. I know it will make me see how I am overeating.

@fabgeekmom I am so glad you had a good time with family and didn't have to do all the cooking. My daughter cooked for me this year...that's been a while since that has happened so it was nice. I didn't go overboard, but I did go over a little on the Peanut butter fudge.

@trooworld I’m glad you feel better and are able to get out. I’m assuming you’re driving. That’s fantastic that you have lost so much weight. @cbabie I’m glad you had a good Christmas. I remember those days when the kids had so many toys. It was good that your daughter cooked for you. Hi, all. Christmas was very nice. Good food and family time. Today DH and I went swimming. Tonight we are eating leftovers.

@cbabie Sounds like a wonderful Christmas! Yes, the time will be right to get your results. I hope they come out well. Thanks! Yes, tracking will do that and will allow you to see what you need to change. But you know this, don't you? :D

@fabgeekmom Thank you, and yes I am driving now. I'm glad you enjoyed Christmas. Good that it was warm enough that you could swim.

Hi all. I'm doing really well. I went to the park and walked for 13 minutes yesterday, which is really all I had the energy for. It's a start. I called the surgery center and they said I can drink as much as I can but most people get nauseous if they try to drink more than 10-12 oz in an hour. So, I drank more liquids yesterday (not just water, but some sugar-free fruit punch, and decaf coffee). We have to go get groceries today. We'll see how I do walking around Sam's Club. I should have made a pick-up order but it's too late to do it for this morning. My husband is off today, which is nice. We'll get the groceries and probably go for coffee again today.

Morning all, Nothing much has changed with me at this point. I am trying to get myself a routine. I need one. I am a morning person and at night, I don't want to do anything. I am slowly trying to change that and trying to do little things at night so that the morning is not heavily loaded..LOL. I think I am trying to get a morning I can just stay in my PJ's LOL

@trooworld I am so excited for you. I am so happy you are doing so well. I think your prep worked helped this to go so well. Good for you. Yes please enjoy DH and his day off. When do you go back to work?

@fabgeekmom Yea your DH went swimming with you. We had left overs last night..LOL I am craving chicken, took some out of the freezer, just not sure yet what I will do with it. I know my daughter is wanting me to cook beans and ham...so I just might have to do that and chicken later..LOL

@trooworld I’m so glad that you’re doing so well. Walking around Sam’s is a lot! I hope you did okay. @cbabie I know what you mean about morning versus night. I like to do what I need to do in the morning even though sometimes I have to do stuff in the afternoon. At night I try to unload the dishwasher so I don’t have to do it in the morning. I’m sluggish when I get up. I guess it’s being 73! Chicken sounds good to me. Hi, all. This morning DH and I went grocery shopping. The produce hadn’t been replenished since Christmas so I grabbed some broccoli and parsley for the salmon I’m making tomorrow. I found a nice piece of whole salmon. I’m going to bake it on lemons and herbs. Tonight we are going to my cousins’s house for Hanukkah, another holiday meal. It’s potato latkes and donuts, as the oil is symbolic. Plus she’s having brisket and a vegetable. I’m trying to curtail my sugar intake as I’ve been eating too many desserts. Yesterday I forgot to mention my Christmas gifts from my children: a box of Peanut Caramel Barebells ( they taste like the WW bars I used to eat) and a subscription to Kindle Unlimited. I love how my children know what I like.
