Morning all, went to the knee Dr today and I have to continue my exercises, either at home or there. LOL She said if I don't do them at home she will make me come in for therapy. I am still trying to get back to a routine, feels like forever things were normal around here. LOL I did binge a bit last night and was so mad at myself. Here's for today!!!
@trooworld so glad you went to the surgeon and can work from home. I think stress probably plays a role in your healing. You are doing good and the kit looks interesting.
@fabgeekmom I agree with you and maybe it's my age...I am 67 and I think things should just be done in a balanced proportion. Yea for doing your exercises at home inside. I don't miss the snow and it's been 30+ years since I have lived in a place it snowed.
@theslightedgeforever Yes get back to your routine. but relax is good for a bit. I am proud of you for losing weight among all the activities going on. good luck on the milk...UGH. That's one reason me and this plan doesn't get along. LOL
@its_cleo great job on the weight and I have never tried farro or buckwheat instead of rice. I don't really care for quinoa, it's so bland...LOL
cbabie0 -
Hey everyone, cold here but at least it's sunny. I like the sun.
On my two walks today that I can do- one I have to go to the library to pick up a book and the other I have to get groceries. I have to figure what to make for dinner, I have no idea lol. Was thinking a chicken stew. I'm working today also, but it should be quiet.
@trooworld I was looking into pilates before my hip injury was confirmed. I'm interested in trying it out once I get the go ahead to exercise more. I need exercises to strengthen the muscles around my hip joints and thought that would help. I do know it's a tough workout. I can't stand yoga, so I thought about trying instead.
@theslightedgeforever yes, it's great buying equipment, using it is another matter lol.
@cbabie, yep gotta take care of your knees. I call my hip mobility stuff I have to do my old lady exercises lol. ...I totally agree about quinoa. I dislike couscous even more. It's like wallpaper paste lol.
I made a lunch with the buckwheat, like a mixed bowl with buckwheat, sweet potato, chicken, goat cheese. Spinach. Balsamic dressing. I could've/should've added some more veggies but I was too lazy to cut them lol.

Looks like a good group.
I am a lifetime WW member who maintained for a number of years but the darn scale has crept up again. Partly because I am on a med that causes weight gain but also because I've just stopped being as careful about my eating. LOL
I am determined to lose that darn 3 lbs and get back to goal. That's easier said than done as I was losing about .2 lbs a week and it's so easy to gain it back.
Yesterday was a disaster as the chocolate monster found me. LOL
I am determined to be careful about my food. It is snacking that gets me in trouble.
Have a great day everyone,
Jeri1 -
@theslightedgeforever The cold weather does make it hard to exercise. As you know, I do indoor exercises. It’s been cold and windy here. @cbabie I hope you get back into a routine and do your knee exercises. You’ll feel better. @trooworld It’s good that you are staying home so you can exercise and rest. It takes a long time to recover from surgery. @ its_cleo Your lunch sounds good. Hopefully you will like Palates. @fancyladyJeri Welcome! I’m also a Lifetime member but stopped going to meetings as they are too far for me to drive to. I think calorie counting is easier than counting points as the calories never change but the points system doesn’t.1
-
Hey welcome @fancyladyJeri!
@trooworld I got as far as getting the ingredients lol. I ended up getting takeout last night, bc I had more work to do than I thought lol. But just a burger, so hopefully it didn't set me back too much. I'll make the stew today. Actually it's a chicken pot pie recipe, but I don't want the crust part bc of the calories. Although that is the best part lol. Glad the pilates is going well.
@fabgeekmom yeah I think ultimately counting calories is the best thing.
Short today as I'm trying to get a bunch of stuff done today bc I have tomorrow off for my MRI and arthrogram. My doctor also emailed me last night bc I have to get some bloodwork done bc I'm anemic too, but I'm really hoping my numbers are improved since the last time. I would go today for the bloodwork but not sure I will have time. I think I can go on Monday. I'm super tired of dealing with this health stuff, it's been one thing after another since last August.
I hope everyone has a good day!0 -
Morning! I am extremely tired today. Eyes are burning..LOL and no it's not from the CA fires. I have been trying to do this program for a couple of weeks concerning hormones. It's really too strict for me and it caused me to emotionally digress. After doing much thinking, I will keep trying to do the program, but only because it makes me accountable for what I know I can do. If I am not accountable, I will say I am happy as I am and I know I am not. I have to live for a much longer time without being in a wheelchair because I was not taking care of me.
@fabgeekmom I had forgotten you were WW and had met the goal. I did that too, but didn't catch the weight this time. Funny I am really only over 4lbs of my goal, but because I am shorter and older I think it looks like I am much heavier. Agree calories are better.
@trooworld So glad you are working from home and yea on the Pilates. This program I started that is the exercises she is doing. I had to attach a strap to my wall since none of my doors are heavy duty enough. I haven't started it it, but I will. Last week was too crazy with grandson here. You are doing so well.
@its_cleo I totally get the tired of the health thing. I have been going through one thing and another as well. But I am seeing the light and you will too. Blood test are so important. I used to give blood and then I stopped and never took a blood test, but I like now knowing what is going on inside shown through the blood test. Helps me know what I should be working on. (like my AC1 is down..YEA)
@fancyladyJeri Welcome! LOL I had to look twice, I have a dear friend and her name is Jeri. I uderstand those pounds creeping up on you...they are monsters. LOL. So glad you found us. the more the merrier I say, we can all support each other and learn from what others are doing. It's fun.
cbabie0 -
@trooworld You’re doing so well in your recovery! @its_cleo A burger is not that bad. I agree that the crust is the best part but I would also leave it out. I know it’s frustrating dealing with health issues. @cbabie I agree that it’s important to stick to a program. I’m sorry you are so tired. Hi, all. DH and I went to the recreation center and worked out on the recumbent elliptical. I listened to Ina Garten’s memoir while working out. I’ve been listening to it all afternoon. It’s really good. Afterwards we went to Sam’s Club and I bought ribeye steaks, ground beef and some other stuff. DS made mushroom soup for lunch. Plus we had chicken from last night. Now he’s making marinara sauce with ground turkey sausage. The house smells really good!0
-
Well I did ok on calories yesterday. I have today off bc I have my MRI. Sorry I keep talking about it lol. I've been waiting a couple months so I'm super glad to get it done.
@fabgeekmom Interesting, I didn't know Ina Gartner had a memoir. A few years ago I was really into her recipes.
@cbabie being accountable is good, but there always has to be balance. Balance is my word these days, I keep trying to find balance for everything in my life lol.0 -
@its_cleo I can understand that you would mention the MRI. I hope all goes well. Yes, I agree that balance is important. I try to eat healthy at least 80% of the time and have calories for treats. @trooworld That weight loss is fantastic! How are your clothes fitting? Cleaning up your desk is a good activity. Hi, all. Today is a swim day. We’re going grocery shopping afterwards so we don’t have to go anywhere after lunch. Tonight is steak night.0
-
Hello everyone. @cbabie I am surprised you know another Jeri. I have only met someone spelling their name like mine once.
I did pretty good yesterday and would have met my goal 100% had I not given in to Costco samples. LOL. A long time ago I made an agreement with myself that they would be called zero point foods even if I knew that wasn’t true. LOL.
Today we took grands to Dairy Queen and I had a grilled chicken sandwich with no mayo. Quite good actually and no I didn’t give in and have ice cream. NSV for sure.
@trooworld Wow you did great. Cleaning up desk - I need to do that.
@fabgeekmom Sounds like a good day with good activity.
@its_cleo. Good luck with your mri. Bet you are glad to have that done.
I have been in awful pain yesterday and today. Glutes driving me crazy and making it hard to climb the stairs. So only two seven minute walks today I was able to get in to see my physiotherapist on next Tuesday. Hope she can help.
Good luck everyone
Jeri
0 -
@fancyladyJeri LOL about the samples. Remember BLTs? ( Bites, licks and tastes). Good job on the chicken sandwich and no ice cream.0
-
Hey congrats on the weight loss @trooworld that sounds great. I'm glad you're seeing results.
@fancyladyJeri ice cream is my weakness, Ben and Jerry's specifically. Although I do love Dairy Queen. I've been trying to get portions down, with some success sometimes lol. I hope the physio helps.
Well I survived the arthrogram and MRI. It was pretty easy, only I have to take it easy today they said bc of the injections they did in my hip for the contrast dye. The doctor injected this stuff into the hip joint and then was like- your hip is really tight, do you know that? Like no kidding, I haven't been able to really exercise much. Also I'm a very anxious person. All my muscles are tight lol.
I might try some very light stretching/yoga today.
I tried to watch calories yesterday, but it was mostly estimate rather than exact measuring.0 -
@fabgeekmom BLT’s - I don’t remember that but funny and apt. I was proud of me at DQ
@its_cleo take it easy for sure and the stretching will help.
@trooworld samples are a challenge for sure. I bet you really enjoy your desk now that it’s cleaned out. Tell me about the ninja creami. I have been looking at them for some time and wondering if it would work for me. Looking for some recipes from you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think we have a pretty low profile today. We slept in which is really nice not having to get up at 7 o’clock. I’m not quite as sore as I was yesterday, I’ve been taking Voltaren. Voltaren is hard on my stomach, so we’ll see how I make out. I hope to do some stretching this afternoon and maybe an easy workout if I’m able to do it. I really don’t wanna cause any aggravation.
Have a wonderful day, everybody

@trooworld That must be a good feeling for your clothes to fit better! Good idea to buy a Creami. @its_cleo I know you are glad to have the MRI done. Estimating calories is good. I do that sometimes when it’s not possible to be exact. @fancyladyJeri It’s good to be relaxed. I’m glad you are not as sore as you were yesterday. Hi, all. I stayed home today and rode the bike. Also listened to Ina Garten’s book. DS is cooking an America’s Test Kitchen recipe with rice, ham, and kimchi with a fried egg on top. As usual the house smells really good!0
-
@its_cleo You sound like me with tight hips. I finally did some stretching for my hip. I found a youtube video
@fancyladyJeri welcome to the group! saying no to ice cream is awesome
@fabgeekmom I also estimate calories if it's something from outside or at a party. I enter in the description and portion size and then find 3 calorie amounts and choose the one in the middle.
@trooworld You sound like you are doing well on aftercare. Plus looser fitting clothes. I'm ready for that. What book did you read for bookclub? I hosted on Thursday and we discussed The Measure. It was a really good discussion.
@cbabie Your program: You know how long I've tried to get you to live in the gray. How can you tweak it just a smidge that it is not so strict. You don't get extra brownie points for doing strict because in the end you won't stick to it long term. If this program is just a kick start thing for a week then do your best. White knuckling never works. So glad to hear your A1c is down.
I finally tracked all of my food yesterday along with my water and did some stretching. That's a start.0 -
@fabgeekmom It’s lunch time for me and you made me hungry. LOL. We have a bike downstairs in our work out room but I prefer to walk upstairs. My husband works out several times a week but I do walking mostly. I could do the treadmill but it’s just boring - well unless I watch the tv
@trooworld Now I am really intrigued with your Ninja Creami. Looking forward to hearing the results. I have definitely been wanting to buy one. Glad you did. Your book club sounds good. I do a Zoom bookclub with some ladies I met thru WW connect. When COVID came along we were looking for something to do. I might be the only active WW member now, LOL. Love our book club. It’s fun. I very seldom have coffee myself. But Ed and I have started going out for coffee or tea almost everyday. We used to do that lot before COVID and it feels really good.
@theslightedgeforever Thanks for the welcome. You guys are a great group. My goal is to track everything and most days I do. I am using MyFitness Pal as well WW just to see which I like the best. If I am not a goal in WW I am paying $23 a month. I’m not a goal as I started a medication last summer that caused weight gain. I am trying very hard to get back to goal, as once I am at goal it is free as I am a Lifetime Member. I’m thinking of stopping WW until I get back to goal.
Fingers crossed.
Nasty cold day today and yesterday. It was -4F here yesterday. A little warmer today but not much. I am feeling a little better today, thank goodness. I did stretches first thing this morning and I have given in and started to take Voltaren. (It can bother my stomach). I have an appointment with a physiotherapist on Tuesday.
Enough, enough. Going on and on. Have a wonderful day everyone.

@trooworld Getting to drink caffeinated coffee is great! I can’t live without it. The book group sounded like fun and it was nice for you to meet new people. That’s good that you’re looking up recipes for your Cremi. @theslightedgeforever That’s good that you are tracking and stretching. I read The Measure and liked it. I felt like the author used current events for much of the novel: protest marches, politics, health care, etc. I won’t say anything else as I don’t want to give any spoilers. It definitely would be a good book for a reading group. Hi, all. I went swimming today. DH took wand picked me up so I didn’t have to worry about parking. Dinner last night was good. We are going to my daughter’s house tonight. She is preparing butter chicken. I’ve never had it before. I will probably look up several entries for calories and choose one. Or I might look up the calories on a recipe from America’s Test Kitchen.0
-
@fancyladyJeri I missed your post when I replied. That’s hard when you take a medication that causes weight gain. I have a hard time, too, due to some health issues and being 73. I could not take the cold that you are experiencing but I guess you can get used to anything. That must be fun to have a reading group on Connect. I miss Connect but am not willing to pay for it. I hope the PT helps you.0
-
That sounds like a cool book club @trooworld . And an interesting book, I'll make a note of it.
@fabgeekmom I'm a coffee addict too, although the older I get I find it makes me a bit nauseous sometimes. But I'm determined not to give it up lol. Butter chicken is good.
@fancyladyJeri good to see what works. I tried WW once and it was ok, but ultimately I found counting calories worked more. It is more effort though.
Not a lot of time today, it's my in office day. I had a nice relaxing weekend. I indulged a bit Sat night and was over calories a bit, but fine yesterday.
Have a busy week- at least the next few days. Going to a basketball game tomorrow and dinner out, so trying to be good on calories today!0 -
@trooworld Those reading groups sound like fun. It’s too cold here to think about ice cream! But you live in a warmer climate so you will enjoy the Creami concoctions. @its_cleo I’m glad you had a relaxing weekend. Weekends are for indulging! I also try to save calories if I have a big meal planned. What kind of work do you do? I’m a retired educator. I’ve been retired since 2002. Hi, all. It’s really cold here but not as cold as it’s in Canada. @its_cleo Keep that Arctic air! I have to go grocery shopping and I’m going to work out on my bike. Dinner last night was really good. We had roasted green beans and naan to go with the butter chicken.0
-
@fabgeekmom ya it's cold here today lol!
I work in privacy- the job is similar to a consultant although I do have an employer, but I get sent out to different clients. I do privacy risk assessments if the client collects personal information- to make sure they are using it according to law, security, etc. Like schools would have student personal info so if they were a client would do a risk assessment to ensure they are in compliance with privacy laws and keeping it secure.
It's a lot of reading and writing, which suits me.
@trooworld I love decluttering, though sometimes I get carried away and get rid of something I inevitably want.
Havent tracked calories very well the last couple days, need to get back on track- starting tomorrow bc tonight I'm going to the basketball game with my uncle. He likes Swiss Chalet, so we are going there for dinner. I would like basketball a lot better if our team were any good (they are not lol). But it will be nice to get out.

Morning all, I am trying to find myself in this program. It is one I can't follow, but today I decided to do one thing I know works to keep me full. My protein shake instead of eggs. It keeps me fuller and takes the sugar cravings away. I am tired and even emotionally tired this week, so I know I have to preserve me so I don't eat the whole house. LOL. I have jeans and a sweater on, tells you how cold it is here. I also cancelled my PT sessions. I am tired of all the appointments I have and I can do most of their routines at home. Now lets just make sure I do LOL. My car is in the shop and I am driving a hybrid Jeep Jeep..LOL it's lots of fun. My little one says mommy can you drive it? will we crash? Here to tell you I drive it better than my car. LOL
@fabgeekmom I have never had butter chicken. But then you guys always eat good different food. You are a house full of cooks..I am so jealous. LOL.
@trooworld I love to declutter, it is very head clearing and I think sometimes better than exercise. Good for you for getting it done. I know you and my sister love those book clubs.!. How was the ice cream?
@its_cleo You are doing great keep it up. Your work sounds interesting. I can't see you getting bored. LOL
@fancyladyJeri Oh your place is too cold for me. We used to live in IL and I remember those - degree winters. Now when it hits 35 here I think I am going to die. LOL. I am a lifetime member, but I guess not that I don't go anymore. LOL. I would also have to pay as I am up from my goal weight too! You got this I know you can do it.
@theslightedgeforever yes I am working on grey area. It's hard for me as I was told to do what I was told, It's the first born in me....just do don't ask. LOL. I will let you know.
cbabie0 -
@trooworld Decluttering is always a good idea. A nap and split pea soup, too. I need to declutter a turnstile cabinet. DH is good at that so he may help me. DS doesn’t like split pea or lentil soup so we don’t eat that. Sometimes my cousin makes split pea soup for us. @its_cleo Your job sounds interesting. Enjoy your night out. @cbabie You have to find what works for you. Keep doing those PT exercises. That’s funny what your little one said about the jeep. Hi, all. It’s 27 degrees now and we are supposed to get snow tonight. Not a lot but enough to keep us home. I rode my bike this morning and talked to my cousin part of the time. I have a doctor’s appointment this afternoon so I have to leave the house.0
-
@fancyladyJeri Did you track yesterday? I did not.
But I have so far today. Have you tried the Voltaren gel? What book did you read for your bookclub. We had to switch to Zoom during covid. My hubby and I have teatime everyday. Then on Saturdays we go out for coffee. My son went to Bali on his honeymoon and brought me back some different kinds of tea. (I basically like plain black tea) But I was gracious and did try one with him and it was good. We'll see about the other two. lol
@fabgeekmom Glad you got to go swimming and the bonus was not looking for parking. I love butter chicken. I was actually looking at that recipe today deciding if I should make it this weekend. My son and his new wife are coming over for dinner.
@trooworld When will they clear you for exercise post-surgery? That book about the cat sounds interesting. I sent it to my daughter. She loves cats. I might make that my bookclub book with my son when we are finished with our current selection.
@its_cleo I only like iced coffees and have been drinking them for 2 years now. Someone wants me to try hot lattes and I don't know. I'm trying to step out of my closed box.
@cbabie Yaaay you stepped into the gray. I knew you could. I have an easy butter chicken recipe for you. How will you keep yourself accountable to doing the at home PT exercises? I have good intentions to stretch everyday and a lot of the time I don't. My body is feeling it right now. How can we help each other? Time to replace those "voices" with new ones. You are in charge now. You don't have to listen to anyone but yourself. It's hard to let go of the people pleasing mode but it's necessary if it's toxic to you. By the way, what are your memories surrounding vegetables. You've mentioned before you don't like them.
I'm currently reading a book called Thin from Within by Joseph Luciani His premise is that we change our diets but if we don't change our mindset then permanent weight loss is off the table. So the book is about how to do that. Not just tracking what we eat or how much we exercise, etc. it's the thoughts surrounding those things that he has a strategy for.
My current non-working strategy is I'll start tomorrow with exercise. So far I've tracked my food. I've done the journaling about unplanned food that I ate as suggested in the book.

I’ve too busy to post. In between doing my exercises for my hands and my sore glutes and trying to get in my walking, time just flies by. I am also sorting our photos and writing dates and names on the back of them. It’s a project that we have been working on for quite some time. We start it then we put it aside then we start it then we put it aside, et cetera et cetera et cetera.
@theslightedgeforever Yes I tracked yesterday. That is my strongest goal- track track track. I did pretty good. I’ve used the Voltaren gel but when I am sore all over the pills work best. We are reading One For The Money a Stephanie Plumb Novel by Janet Evanovich, the first one in the series. It’s funny and we are all enjoying it. I love thatthat your husband and you have teatime every day. 👍
@cbabie it definitely was cold the other day, but it is warmed up considerably here. In Calgary we can get warm weather coming over the mountains and it will warm things up considerably for a while. And then the cold weather comes back and it’s cold winter again. I know what you mean about being tired of all the appointments. We get like that too. Your smoothies sounded really good. My husband used to make them all the time and they definitely are more filling than something else.
@fabgeekmom sounds like you were hibernating LOL. We had to do that when it was so cold here. I just didn’t feel like going outside at all.
@its_cleo I like Swiss chalet. I usually can find something on the menu that works pretty well for me. Have fun at the basketball game.
@trooworld your decluttering sounds great. What a great thing to do. When Covid came, I spent a lot of time decluttering my bedroom and the closet and other parts of the house. It felt really good to do that, but I probably need to do it again. Alas.
Have a wonderful day, everybody

@fancyladyJeri What exercises are you doing for your hands? Your book sounds interesting. I went and looked it up.
@trooworld Could you and your hubby rotate the days. One time you and one time him. Your health is just as important as his. I do know what it's like finding the perfect time because there always seems to be something. The Ninja Creami recipe sounded good. I'm the opposite. I keep everything. I'm trying to learn to let things go. I still have my 4th grade year book. I'll die and then POOF my kids will just throw it all away. Ds and I are reading the 3rd book in the Scythe series by Neil Schusterman. It's named The Toll. First two books are really good. This one has introduced new characters and it doesn't feel as cohesive. But I can see how it's all starting to come together.
So I got up this morning and did what I thought was going to be a "stretch". I'm using the BetterMe app. I just started it but I think I will cancel. $15/month. I can get Fitness+ for $10
It was a 25 min workout and I was sweating and burned 186 calories. It seemed easy looking at the pics. I was having heck of a problem doing the Bird Dog exercise. I guess a lot of bodyweight to hold up on one hand and knee. lol Plus then there was balance issues. I guess I'll get better. I closed my Apple ring which I haven't done since before Christmas. So I'm on my way. Food is all tracked so far.0 -
@fancyladyJeri That’s a big project with pictures! And yes, I am hibernating but I’m doing stuff inside. I’m retired so I don’t have to go anywhere. @trooworld When I was unable to exercise after surgery, I did seated exercises on YouTube. They don’t take up much space and I could get my heart rate up doing upper body exercises. @theslightedgeforever There are a lot of yoga exercises I can’t do because of my arthritis. Chair exercises are good and don’t stress the joints. Good job on closing your rings. Hi, all. We got snow last night and everything looks so pretty. Probably about 4 inches which might not sound like a lot, but we get snow so seldom the city doesn’t clear the roads. It still below freezing. We had some snow flurries an hour ago but no added accumulation. It was pretty to watch.0
-
@trooworld good for you trying water aerobics. But the people talking- one reason I don't like group classes is bc of stuff like that for sure. Maybe a different instructor/class would be better?
@fabgeekmom I've looked at some chair exercises, it's always good to do what you can. Still cold here, but not as bad as the last few days.
@theslightedgeforever bird dog exercise is really tough to do properly. I used to do it a lot with my trainer. I don't do it much myself bc I know my hips wont stay level and I need someone to correct me lol.
@fancyladyJeri my colleague just went skiing in Alberta for a week. Beautiful pictures. I'm not sure where they were exactly. I'm in the Six, as the kids say. Do they know that saying in Alberta? Toronto.
Ah the game was fun, the Raptors won which was a surprise lol. Dinner was good, but ya I am over calories the last couple days. Gotta get back to it today.
The last week has been busy I'm wiped today and ready for the weekend. I need to make some meals. I also decided I might shop for some new clothes? Lol. Not sure. I wish I could find some comfortable pants to wear that are not jeans but are ok to wear out, like to work or other places. All the legging stuff seems too casual. Although my office is pretty casual. Also everything is so expensive. But still I might splurge.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Seated/chair exercises are good. I saw couch yoga today. It's all about modifying.
@trooworld Woohoo on trying a water aerobics class. I remember my first WW group. The leader would chit chat with everyone and all I wanted was info on how to lose weight. lol
@its_cleo I didn't even think about how level my hips were. I was just trying to get through it. The good news is that it made today's workout easier. Do they have consignment shops where you live?
I got up and did my stretching exercises this morning. Dh was like what about my breakfast now that you are awake. It's going to have to wait until I'm done or go make it yourself or eat some fruit or a yogurt. Workout with me. So many options to choose from. He wasn't pleased. LOL I've told him I'm training him for when I'm dead and gone.

@trooworld Good job on water aerobics even though you were distracted by the talking. I’m not a fan of outdoor pools but the water was warmer than the outdoor temperature so that makes it more comfortable. @its_cleo I had to look up “in the six”. I learned something new. Good luck with shopping. Do the stores have sales this time of year? @theslightedgeforever Good job on stretching and not getting up to fix DH’s breakfast. Hi, all. Today is another day inside. The temperature are gradually getting warmer. Now it’s 33. In a few days we are getting more normal temperatures, highs in 40-50’s. DH and I did some decluttering in the kitchen this morning. We finally tackled that turnstile!Tonight’s dinner is leftovers from last week: turkey sausage marinara over bucatini.0
