Kylia ~ The blown glass pieces are beautiful and so is your tree! And, the help from the cats was cute!
Allie ~ Glad things seem to go well with the family!
Debbie ~ You have made me want to make oyster stew! It's been years since I had it.
Heather ~ Hope your family will make allowances for how much FUN you can endure on Christmas Day. Sounds like you will enjoy the beach swim.

it turned out really good, in my and mom's opinions.
This is a family tradition- grandma always made it on Christmas eve. Two years ago I left the canned oysters at home and I was so upset with myself- Decided to try canned smoked oysters. It was even better than grandmas.
I made a huge pot and ended up with only mom and I having any of it.
Plans changed constantly up there. Instead of just mom, sister and I, we added in a friend of mom's(my best friend's sister), mom's neighbor and his wife plus the man that has been staying there and helping mom- so instead of cooking for 3, I cooked for 7.Luckily my sister picked u appetizers. The one friend doesn't eat seafood and the whole meal I had planned was seafood- the soup, shrimp cocktails and baked salmon plus salad.
After dinner my favorite cousin came out with his wife and stayed until midnight- visits are always too short with them. Sister went to be in the one I usually sleep in because she had to be up at 3:30 to leave by 4:30. Woke me up when she was leaving(not on purpose) plus the cats were crazy during the night so not enough sleep for me.
This morning I got up and started cooking.
Again- thought I was cooking for 3(friend, mom and I) and ended up with 9. I cooked the whole thing by myself but had it planned out so wasn't really rushed. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. The couple that live in the motor home at the back of the property came up(mom had invited them) and they really were thankful- they have no family out here so was nice they weren't alone. Son and his girlfriend came up which was nice.
Home, got all the cat chores done. Messaged dh when I got home- I see he is online but he hasn't responded
Only response I have seen from him is when I posted pictures from lunch he just said "ok".
I know he is resentful that I cooked all that and he had to fend for himself. Couldn't even say- looks nice or anything
Sitting here, catching up here and having decaf tea and listening to one of the cats snore/moan.
Need to toss the load of laundry I started(full load of pee pads) into the dryer.

Machka, Thanks for sharing your Christmas in Tasmania photos. I just finished reading book that was set at Christmastime in Australia and your photos added a visual to what I read.
We woke up early so I was able to walk for two hours (about 12,000 steps) in the dark and enjoy seeing no people or cars and enjoying the lights in front of many houses.

Keep in mind that Tasmania is a little different to the rest of Australia given that we're a small island, about twice the size of Vancouver Island. So there'll be a lot of water in my Tasmanian photos ... lots of bays, lagoons, inlets, etc. We're also a southern island with a climate a lot like the Pacific Northwest of North America.
Where was the book set in Australia?

Happy holidays to all.
Heather - I can't imagine swimming in the ocean this time of year. Brrr.
Lanette - I think of you and your farmer walk every morning when I am carrying buckets of soaked beet pulp from the house to the barn.
DD and I had a very quiet Christmas, just the 2 of us. Watched some movies and worked on our jigsaw puzzle.
Hope everyone had a blessed day. Sue in WA5 -

Debbie: I am praying for you and DH that your MIL is placed in a nursing home and does okay there. I hope the rehab doesn't give her thoughts that maybe she can get home. That is the drawback of rehab. You and your DH deserve a break. It has been long enough.
I am at the beach. Nice sunny day! I walked for 3 hours! But no I did not do 9 miles..I stopped to people and dog watch and take pictures! Great to have a break from home. I will drive home in the morning!
Best,
Rosemarie from GA
thank you- We all need all the prayers we can get, even if they don't think so or think they help.
The rehab will help get some strength back in her legs. She sits in her recliner almost 24/7 which makes her legs weaker and her back hurt more(she doesn't even sit in the chair the right way, she sits slumped a bit and to the side.
We are so ready for a break3 -
Love the pictures!
Not sure what order they loaded. Forgot to get pics of DYD and family this morning. These are of my oldest grandson, youngest granddaughter, oldest daughter and her husband. We had a great time all day. Of course my DH and me, too!
Time for bed!
Peaceful night is my wish for all.
Love,

My "kiddos." Three mine. The one on the left is engaged to mine second from the right. If you can follow that. My youngest refuses to smile for pictures. Too cool, I guess.
We had a nice day today.

Matchka the book was set in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains which is much different from your coastal Tasmania where you live. The contrast for me was Christmas in the warm light summer instead of the cold dark winter which is my experience3

This afternoon I was able to video chat with eldest and middle son, and Athena loved her doll clothes.💖👍🏼 Then middle said his dinner was ready so I chatted with eldest sailor (in the scruffy beard) and younger post sailor son finally got on. I remembered to take a screenshot then, so wasn't able to get middle, and g'kids. Awe well, next time! It was a great couple of hours chat anyways! Did my heart good! I watched my eldest in Japan open his box. My simple mostly food related gifts were a hit.
All in all a very blessed day!

Family time is so precious, especially now that the grands are scattered around the UK. It was quite rowdy, with 6 opinionated adults round the table. We are hoping for a dry day on Friday so that we can go for a walk along the lough shore (Belfast Lough) Younger grandson flies back to England on 30th. Granddaughter is staying for another week, so will hopefully see her another time or two before she returns to Oxford.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.
🙋♀️ Miele failte to any newbies.

I had one of the most relaxing Christmas Days ever. I did warn my son that we might want to get away earlyish, and the only thing he was concerned about was all the cheese he had bought for the evening. So we took some away with us and had some for a late supper, with the biscuits that had been in my brother's hamper.
We also took away some Christmas pudding, brandy butter, turkey, and stuffing. We will have those last two in sandwiches for lunch, and the rest will get eaten tonight.
Boxing Day, in the UK, is a bank holiday, and people often relax, go for a walk, and eat up the leftovers from the Christmas dinner. We were going to have the Dover Sole we bought, but I've put that back until tomorrow, and we can eat up all the snacks bits today. We were so absolutely stuffed after lunch yesterday that we just had a small amount of cheese in the evening.
Everyone was thrilled with their presents, especially Max with his money, and it was a generally cheerful and happy day. It was nice to see Max so relaxed, and genuinely pleased to see us when we turned up on the beach. He seems to be negotiating puberty well so far.
After lunch, we watched the video of the girls in their summer West End Experience. They were just in the chorus, but it was great to see what they had been up to. DDIL is signing them for next summer, although Edie might decide she doesn't want to do it.
So, two days that went well, and Christmas Day itself was better than I expected.
We came home to watch TV, after my nap on the sofa, and thoroughly enjoyed the last and final episode of 'Gavin and Stacey', which is a Welsh/English comedy show. We have never, ever, watched it before, but decided to watch the much hyped finale, and it was really excellent. We also enjoyed 'Call the Midwife', with another episode tonight.
So, I'm now in a golden glow and just resting happily.
So sorry for Barbie's news. I'm sure she knows all our thoughts are with her. Xxxxxxxx

Katoomba is a cute place with jaw-dropping views of the Blue Mountains. I've been there twice, for a few hours each time (most recently, this past August), and would like to spend a whole weekend some time.
And yes, we celebrate a summer Christmas down here.

Today ... Boxing Day ... was hot and muggy and mainly overcast which added to the heavy muggy feel.
I did a climbing walk - up to the top of one of the nearby hills.
I also hacked away at that grass we've got in the front yard - good upper body workout. It's Kikuyu or something similar. I think it might be called St Augustine grass in the US. Horrible stuff. As soon as its stolons and/or rhizomes hit something solid like a fence or driveway, they pile up on each other and then start climbing ... and attempting to remove the obstacle. It's destroying our fences. It was burying our driveway as well, but we fought it back for now.

And this is our back yard ... our orchard. A work in progress. There are also raspberries, blueberries and strawberries in other locations.

Morning, my darling peoples,
Glad to have this holiday done and dusted, but enjoyed it enormously. I'm always glad to see them come and go.
Everyone who's posted family pics, thank you! It's so nice to put faces with your posts and comments from the year.
Heather - Sounds very relaxed and lovely.
That was pretty much our day. Pat hasn't worked long enough at his job to have paid time off, and is back at work this morning, so he left at 7. After an early dinner, we just watched funny things on YouTube, like clips of Family Feud, and then clips in a category called "customer states," that shows what is actually wrong with people's cars when they bring them to the dealership or car repair place. My "boys" are both mechanics, so they were just in stitches. Doesn't sound like fun, but I enjoyed watching their faces as they watched the show. They really had a blast. I don't even know cars, and I enjoyed it.
I woke up writing video scripts in my head, so I'm happy this morning. Egg's happy because there are no strangers in her house. She actually stayed in the house this time. Under the bed, but still, better than her bolting outside in the cold and wet. More of that today... My biggest ambition is to take a shower. That's pretty much it.
Later y'all,
Love, Lisa

Jake died last night. After many tests revealing things that were wrong that we didn't know about, my drive to the hospital to bring newest medical advanced directive, and conversations on the phone and in person with the doctor, and several late night phone consultations with daughter, they took him off the ventilator. We are all sad. Daughter will arrive either late tonight or tomorrow morning. She'll fly to Seattle and rent a car and either drive over here or stay in a hotel and come over in the morning (it's a two hour or more drive from the airport).15
