Debbie. … no one can force you to take your MIL out of the hospital. Your key words to use are her “health and safety.” Her health and safety are in jeopardy. Hospitals do not want liability problems. The social worker should work with you in finding appropriate placement. Push for the place you want but realize you may end up somewhere that has an open bed first. You can still move to your place of choice later. So sorry you’re going through this.

    thank you-
Dh is so exhausted right now that he is starting to second guess everything he is deciding. Even after all the verbal abuse from her. He does know that having her in the rehab place is the best place for her and he can not continue to be there 24/7- mentally and physically he can't.

Can you both go home and get a good night's sleep now while she is sedated?

Decided that I would be the one to get the milk and eggs, in order to give myself a walk. :) It also meant I washed my hair (very overdue) and actually put some face on, with a red lip pencil. Felt soooooo much better!
I then decided to brighten up the neighbourhood with last year's flashing Rudolph earrings. They were still working, amazingly! The shop keepers loved them! :D
There was a queue of 20 at the butcher , so I didn't call in for a pork pie. I know they were open yesterday, Sunday. I found the milk and also bought cream. That shop is open over Christmas. Then I went to the deli and bought eggs, and asparagus, and artisan bread, raspberries, onions and their huge garlic. Oh, and a small bar of good chocolate. Lovely chat with the owner. He gave me a question for the Christmas Quiz.
So a very good morning indeed.

I'm using a crutch to go upstairs, as I think my 'bad' leg has forgotten how to climb. I hope this will remind it. As I'm writing this on my bed, I'm using my band to strengthen my glutes.

Tonight is mashed cauliflower with crême fraiche and parmesan, with roasted, herby, boneless chicken thighs. I always boil the cauliflower at lunch time, and my poor cleaner has to endure the smell. She says she doesn't mind it! ;)

Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Terri - Your Christmas preparations sound wonderful. Loved the photo of you, DH and family at the fascinating restaurant. <3

Heather - I feel exactly the same way about my cleaner Collette. 2 hours every other week keeps my house in good enough shape to satisfy the health authorities, LOL. :p I give her a Christmas bonus and birthday present as well. She is always cheerful and caring. She's a blessing.

432 Hertz (Hz) - I ran across some information on the healing properties of 432 Hz. I remember decades ago, this was considered "woo-woo". Apparently it has withstood the test of time and some recommend listening to it as a sleep and relaxation aid. I wonder if hearing these sounds would be good for older folks with dementia or other cognitive issues. Might be worth a try - I have some playing in the background on this laptop right now. Maybe it will tune up my heart, who knows?

    Here's an article about it:

YouTube also has many channels that play 432 Hz sounds. Here's one:

This is where she sleeps when we go to bed. Apparently needed more cuddles this morning. Yes, I am chilling in bed so excuse the hair!

Beth and Allie Thank you for your suggestions to Debbie. Such a hard position to be in.

Debbie and Annie Such a hard place to be in. Hugs held extra!

Rebecca I feel the same as you about this community. I miss when I am not here.

After searching for the lights for the little truck for an hour, found them in the truck! Managed to not kill each other and got her decorated and ready for tonight. Vacuumed carpets again. DH said they look good. The main carpet so needs replaced. It is 33 years old, has staining, and the pad is deteriorating. Have thought of vinyl plank like in kitchen/laundry room but love the warmth of carpet. The thought of removing furniture and nicnaks sends my anxiety into tornado mood though! So as long as no bare spots it stays! Cleaned kittens water dish and cleaned up kitchen, mopped floor. Hmm, no cookies made....DED texted me and said youngest granddaughter wants to bake cookies with me! She is 15 and even though it is after the holidays we are making it a date! I did manage to get nails stuck on last night. I like press on for holidays and special events. Sorted gifts, still need to wrap. Other than 3 hrs work then a massage tomorrow, I have time. We will go to both girls houses on Christmas day.

Better get started on this day! It has been 27 yrs since my father in law passed on this day.

Short work day today too. Will post some parade pictures after tonight.

    Love to all!
    Hugs held tight!

Rebecca ~ So glad you enjoyed your night out with your hubby.

Debbie ~ Praying that the MnL will be sent to a place that can accommodate her needs.

Michele ~ Love the outdoor lights. I am sure they make so many people happy as they go by your home.

Terri ~ What a great family photo! The room y’all sat in looks like a fairy tale.

Beth & Allie ~ Wise words to Debbie.

Heather ~ Was the icing on the cake a divinity type icing? It looks so fluffy and pretty. Hope your bad leg gets better.

Kylia ~ Love the kitty photo and your nails look great! I keep mine so short it would be impossible to paint.

Debbie ... I did a little research on the potential legal action for leaving an Alzheimer's patient home alone. There is NO actual law in regards to leaving a person with demential home alone. But it's a fine line and depends a lot on individual circumstances. Are you her sole caregiver? Does she depend on you for mobility? Does she live with you or on her own? Things of that nature. Is it possible to be arrested for neglect ... yes, if something were to happen that could be traced back to poor care/neglect/abuse/etc.

Carol - It's called 'royal icing'. It's traditional for Christmas cakes and wedding cakes. It sets like concrete. Really! :o In order to avoid having to get a drill out, we add glycerine to it. Every year we think we should have added more, because, by the middle of January, you need a chisel. :p
In fact, I have an Amazon delivery today of another bottle of glycerine for next year's cake, as we finished my old bottle yesterday.

    Cleaner just finishing off.
