Kylia ~ The blown glass pieces are beautiful and so is your tree! And, the help from the cats was cute!

Allie ~ Glad things seem to go well with the family!

Debbie ~ You have made me want to make oyster stew! It's been years since I had it.

Heather ~ Hope your family will make allowances for how much FUN you can endure on Christmas Day. Sounds like you will enjoy the beach swim.

Happy Christmas, my dear friends, in whatever way you choose to celebrate, or just a quiet, peaceful day away from the hustly bustly world if that suits you best,

Talked to two friends I dearly love yesterday, plus my beloved came home early from work - a rare occurrence - and I got an hour's nap in between loads of laundry. Great day. :) Already talked to my birth family, but the kids will probably call.

Made sausage ball appetizers last night, but for some reason, they came out very salty. Plan to crumble them up and make them into a nice frittata for brunch tomorrow. Won't have to put a grain of salt in the dish! The eggs should calm them down quite nicely, and it will be a very tasty quiche-type meal. I also have a half bag of frozen hash browns for some un-remembered reason, so could parbake a potato crust for it, too. Sounds yummy.

Also made a video yesterday that was about two thirds of the way toward being acceptable, which for my self-critical nature is a big step forward. Will be continuing to teach myself video editing today while I get the focaccia made - just put the garlic in the oven. I'll use the roasted garlic in the dough, as well as make garlic butter for later. I can't deal with raw garlic, but love the taste of it roasted.

I look forward to seeing Pat. Unlike his brother (my husband, for those who didn't know), he's a smiler, and sees the world about a half bubble off plumb. Kinda fun to be around the two of them, though you can get whiplash during the conversations. They're both so smart that it's a lot of fun to just listen to them. Never a cross word, either. Unlike my family, who would be in a knockdown drag out fight by 1 p.m.

    - Love the glass, hope you have a cabinet where you can see it and still keep them safe from your little hooligans!

Heather - Yeah, as fun as it can possibly be, those kind of things can wear on us. I look forward to seeing photos.

That goes for everyone! Love seeing snapshots of your lives.

Hope it's a grand day however you're spending it, and that you've been able to choose how to spend it.

    Love y'all,

:) We are alive and well and planning to order take out from our favourite Chinese restaurant at midday. We had brief visits from friends this week. The first brought fruitcake with no booze in it for Jake and the others brought a big tin of old fashioned sugary buttery cookies.

:)Kylia, what fun to have kittens help with the wrapping.

:)Heather, Good plan to escape early from all the festivities. I would do the same in your shoes.

:)Michele, Your yard decorations are awesome. I'm sorry that I don't get to walk past your house in the mornings.

:)Machka, Thanks for sharing your Christmas in Tasmania photos. I just finished reading book that was set at Christmastime in Australia and your photos added a visual to what I read.

:) We woke up early so I was able to walk for two hours (about 12,000 steps) in the dark and enjoy seeing no people or cars and enjoying the lights in front of many houses.

:)Lisa, Thank you for posting the video about Svalbard. I, too, miss Penny. I thought of her the other day when someone was fussing about the long dark nights in middle America and I realized that the people I know who live very far from the equator where the nights are long in winter are not the ones who complain. Penny embraced the long nights and told about the local customs of things that happened during the winter.
