@cbabie I'm the same way: I don't have the energy at night. Give me a 4 am workout session, I'm good lol. I hope you can work out a routine. Thank you! I think you are right but also, I had a really good surgery team. I am not sure when I go back: I am SUPPOSED to go back on 1/3, but my work needs a release from my surgeon to let me go back and I don't see the surgeon until 1/2, so it may take an extra day or two for all the paperwork.
@fabgeekmom Thank you! I did okay at Sam's Club but it was a lot. I like Sam's Club fresh salmon. It's always good. Your recipe for the salmon sounds yummy. I love latkes. What thoughtful gifts from your kids!
Hi all. Sam's Club went okay, no problems. We just got stuff for my husband as I needed very little and we got all I needed from the regular grocery store. Yesterday, I found a recipe site for bariatric recipes that look good, so I saved quite a few of those. They are mostly easy and healthy recipes but not boring. Today, I'm hoping to get my husband to put together a side table for the bedroom. We will probably go for coffee as well.
Water yesterday: 48 oz

@trooworld You’re doing great! That’s good that Sam’s wasn’t too bad. Hi, all. I’m back in healthy eating mode. I had 2 days of decadence and now it’s time to get back to normal. DH and I went swimming today. The HVAC has been fixed and the air temperature was good. The pool was 84 degrees, a bit cold getting started, but we got used to it easily. I think @cbabie would scoff at the temperature!0
-
@fabgeekmom Thank you! Yay for being back to healthy eating mode. I'm glad the pool was fixed and you could go swimming.
Hi all. The side table didn't get put together yesterday and probably won't get put together for 4-6 more weeks...it will be put off and put off but eventually put together lol. We went to the farmer's market in Little Italy and walked around quite a bit. It ended up being a little too much. I had to stop at one point and lean on a railing, wishing for a place to sit. We went a little further and turned around. It was too much: when we went for coffee, I was weak and didn't feel well. I feel better today. I also read a lot yesterday.
Water yesterday: 50 oz

Morning all, nothing went as planned yesterday here and I have birthday celebrations today...so after today should be good for another 4 weeks. LOL. We have many Jan birthdays..I slept in today until 7:30, I don't like getting up that late, but baby boy has not been going to bed until 12:30 pm, not sure what's going on there. He is probably a night owl like my whole family. LOL.
@trooworld So sorry little Italy was too much, but glad you tried and now you know your limits for now. You are doing so good! It was good you read yesterday..let your body heal like it should.
@fabgeekmom I laughed over the water temp. LOL You are right..I hate cold water..for anything. . I am such a baby. Yes I am with you it's time to get back to normal..just not today. This is the last day of celebration. Luckily I don't eat stuff like that on NY. I am hoping my children eat all that's left today. sending it home with them. LOL
cbabie0 -
@trooworld It looks like you felt so good that you overdid it. You’re learning your limits and gradually you’ll be back to your pre surgery activity. @cbabie This is the time of year when we have celebrations. Hopefully all the goodies will be eaten up or given away. Hi, all. Salmon was good last night but when I cooked it in the oven, the smoke alarm went off due to grease being on the bottom of the oven. Luckily DS is tall and cut off the alarm. DH has just finished cleaning the oven. I went walking this morning as it was really warm. We are eating at DD’s house tonight. She’s making a pasta dish with chicken sausage, tomatoes, onions and peppers.0
-
@cbabie Having a family makes you busy lol, just do what you can. How old is baby boy now? 1? Yes, I'm glad, too, although my husband wanted to go to a different farmer's market yesterday and we almost went but changed our minds. I think that would have been a mistake to go. Thank you!
@fabgeekmom I think that's exactly what happened. Oh gosh, the alarm must have been jarring! That's good the weather was warm enough to walk outside. I hope you enjoyed dinner.
@theslightedgeforever Are you still out there? Thinking of you.
Hi all. This weekend (both days), I had a funny experience: I was wearing yoga pants and my underwear bagged down to below my butt as I walked. This has never happened before and I thought it was the underwear on Saturday but when it happened again on Sunday, I am thinking I am losing enough for them to start to bag lol. A good problem to have, no? We did a little running around yesterday. We ended up at the coffee shop reading, which was nice. My goal for today is to start organizing my clothes by size so that as I go down in sizes, I will have stuff to wear.

Morning, yesterday was a good time at my oldest daughters. Instead of birthday cake, I made cheesecake. They like it better. So it's back to getting a normal routine this week before school starts again.
@fabgeekmom once in a while my smoke alarm goes off when I use my indoor grill. It always scares the kids..glad you could walk outside. It's still cold here in the mornings, but warmer in the afternoons.
@trooworld How fun you get to organize your clothes! I bet the coffee shop was relaxing. Baby is a little over 2 but I still call him baby as he still acts like one. LOL
cbabie0 -
@trooworld It’s a good thing you figured out your underwear was too big or you might have had an embarrassing experience! Good news that you are losing weight and you can shop in your closet! @cbabie Yum to cheesecake! And it’ll be good to back into a routine. Hi, all. DH and I went swimming today. DH cleaned the oven so hopefully I won’t set off the smoke detector again. I’m going to try to wipe up spills as I cook. Dinner tonight is hamburgers, fries and salad. Easy peasy as I’m cooking.0
-
@cbabie I love cheesecake. That's good they liked it better. It was fun! And I'm using my Cricut to make dividers between the sizes, just like at a store lol. The coffee shop is relaxing, we people-watch and read. It's nice! Aww, he's still a baby!
@fabgeekmom Right! LOL Yes! We need to clean our oven. It's such a pain because there are burners that are permanently attached to the bottom, they don't really lift up to clean under them.
Hi all. I did get through organizing my closet. I have mostly XLs but a little of everything from 14s to 2Xs. I am using my Cricut Maker to make closet dividers out of chipboard. I still have some clothes to put away but it will be easier now that my closet is organized. I made a plan to get to 30 minutes of intentional exercise using ChatGPT (AI). It gave me a detailed plan with milestones and rewards, it's pretty cool and was free to do!

Morning all, I can't believe this is the last day of 2024, where did it go. Seems I was just doing my taxes and here it is time again. I do hope that this year brings this group many blessings and favors. I went and got the last of my blood test done this morning...so glad that is over. I am anxious to see my AC1 levels.
@fabgeekmom Yes I should do the same with my oven..I just hate to clean it. Wonder if I could get my DH to do that. LOL. I am so glad you have a DH you can exercise with..mine not so much. His exercise is coffee being lifted to his mouth.
@trooworld Yea for getting your closet done. So nice to shop in there and not in a department store..much cheaper..LOL Besides you already know you like it. I think being creative is good for your healing too...something about doing something fulfilling causes our bodies to work like it was made to do. That's cool about chapgbt...I use that thing too. I never thought about asking it to do what you did. great IDEA!!

Hey all, I was here ages and ages ago, not sure if anyone remembers me. If not, it's ok.
It's been a few years. When I was here I was doing really well with fitness and food, but have struggled the last few years. Trying to refocus/reprioritize on it. Looking for something to help me stay motivated/accountable so thought I would post here
I havent been exercising as much as I used to for multiple reasons. I've had health problems the last year, culminating in Nov with diagnosis of arthritis in both hips, but also some soft tissue damage, so I have an MRI scheduled in a couple weeks, and I may need surgery.
I can exercise right now but strict limits- I can walk about 3km a day, and I can bike about 8km a day (this down from 10-15 km walking, and 40km biking).
My goal is to get the MRI/soft tissue damage stuff on the road to recovery, then get back into some kind of strength training to help me with the arthritis.
I've gained weight, not a ton, but it keeps creeping up. I just turned 48, so getting older probably doesn't help lol. I want to try to keep the calories down and the weight manageable. Starting Jan 2 of course lol.
Anyway hoping I can find a group or something here to set goals and report back or something. Trying to figure out what would help.
Happy New Year!0 -
ETA I found the challenges section, maybe one of those would help me.
Has anyone actually done WW recently?0 -
@trooworld That’s a great way to organize your closet. The exercise app sounds like a good way to start your activity. @cbabie Isn’t it interesting that as we get older, time seems to go so fast! I hope the blood work will help to find a diagnosis for to help you feel better. @its_cleo Welcome to the group. You have a lot of health challenges but weight loss is still possible. Do what exercises you can do and track everything you eat on the app. Hi, all. I took advantage of the warm weather and went for a walk. I think it’s getting colder soon so I’ll do indoor exercises. I have some chuck roast with potatoes and veggies in the crockpot. I’m following a recipe from One and Done Cookbook ( Skinnytaste). I hope everyone has a happy and healthy new year.0
-
@cbabie The year did go by fast, didn't it? I hope your blood test comes out the way you want. You know what though? I mostly had XLs, only maybe 4 things of other sizes. I knew it was going to be like that, I know what I get rid of, but my husband insisted I have a closet full of stuff I don't wear (not true). But at least I won't miss those few pieces. Thank you. I do agree about creative activities. Yeah, I came up with all my goals through ChatGPT. It was really cool!
@its_cleo Welcome back! I have arthritis in my knee and it was making me lose my mobility, so I can relate. I hope you get the medical care you need to help you. You sound like you have a good plan. I haven't done WW in about 5 years. I actually just had gastric bypass surgery. I am also a member of the FAT 2 FIT WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE AND SUPPORT GROUP here on MFP. It's free to join and you weigh in weekly. I am the co-captain of the Mission Slimpossibles team. Check it out and see if it would be something you would be interested in: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/114605-fat-2-fit-weight-loss-challenge-and-support-group If you want to join, you have another day or so before January closes, join here and if you want to request Mission Slimpossibles, we'd love to have you: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10929359/registration-for-new-member-janauary-2025#latest
@fabgeekmom Thank you! I'm glad the weather was good for your walk.
Hi all. HAPPY NEW YEAR! We stayed up until about 9 pm, enough to see the east coast ball drop lol. I got a new craft machine, one that makes mugs. I made this mug last night, it has a black cat surrounded by a floral pattern. It was a pain to make not because of the machine but because of the design. I love the way it turned out. I didn't feel so well yesterday, I was weak, so I called the dietician who suggested I add one more protein shake to my day and drink more water so that's what I did. I felt good by the end of the day. I have my 2025 motto below: A new era of me.
Water yesterday: 75 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."

@trooworld I love the mug. Super cute.
I'm a little afraid to join that challenge, I'm afraid I might bring y'all down lol. I don't have much confidence in myself at the moment. I'm just trying to crawl out of a hole at the moment....I will try something just with daily check-ins for now.
Happy New Year everyone! My goal today is to do my approved exercises and start to tidy up- take xmas lights down, but I will keep the tree up til the weekend.0 -

Morning all, Happy 2025 and off we go!!! I wonder how fast this year will go by. Can we slow the clock down a bit? LOL. We went to my middle daughter's last night and shot off fireworks for the kids..they ha fun. However, baby boy did not want to go to sleep until 1:45 am... He must be excited for the new year! . I am trying to get through setting up some goals for January. I have learned to keep it simple and short. Then If I make those, I can add to it.
@trooworld I love your cup, how cute. You are so very creative. What's the name of the gadget you got? I think my oldest daughter might like something like this. She has made me cups through the years with her cricket. Glad you felt better and called your dietician!
@fabgeekmom It's getting colder here too, but still nice in the afternoon. You know I like to get it all done in the morning...so the warm weather doesn't help me LOL. I like the ONE and DONE...sounds yummy.
@its_cleo I remember you, glad to have you back. Start small and do what your Dr has given you guidelines for and as you increase in strength you can increase your movement. I am sorry you feel so yucky, you are starting and that is a positive thing. You got this!!
cbabie1 -
@trooworld That mug looks professionally made! You are so talented. It’s good you called about being weak and that was good advice. I’m glad you’re feeling better. I didn’t stay up either last night. I prefer to go to sleep at the same time every night as I sleep better that way. @its_cleo Small steps are always good and more sustainable. Are you tracking on MFP? I was a member of WW for many years and even worked for the company. A few years ago I had gained some weight despite counting points. My doctor suggested MFP as many of his patients had last weight that way. I think I was over eating 0 point foods. I lost 10 pounds in a year. I have kept off all but 2 pounds. @cbabie That sounded like a fun night. Too bad baby boy couldn’t go to sleep until late. That’s so frustrating and I’m sure you are tired today. That’s a good idea to set small goals. Hi, all. Dinner last night was good. Tonight we are having Skinnytaste pork loin with cherry balsamic sauce, black eyed peas, collards and corn muffins for our New Year’s meal. All of this is supposed to give us luck and prosperity this year. We are superstitious and it’s a good excuse to eat these foods. Do any of you eat anything special on New Year’s?0
-
@its_cleo Thank you! Don't worry about the challenge, if you want to join in the future, it's there! It's a very supportive environment, with no judgments, and a lot of people say it helps them stay on track. New members can join at the start of every month, so do keep it in mind. Happy New Year! I need to take my Christmas stuff down as well but it will realistically be this weekend or next before I actually do it lol.
@gemwolf110 Happy New Year! I hope you are well.
@cbabie I hope not too fast lol. OH gosh, now baby boy's sleep schedule is off, huh? That's a good idea about your goals. Thank you! I got a Cricut Mug Press, although you need a Cricut Explorer or Cricut Maker to cut out the design to put on the mug (I have the Maker). Oh, sounds like she has a Cricut. Good. I did feel better and I'm glad I called, too!
@fabgeekmom Thank you! That's a nice compliment. I'm glad I can get a hold of them when I call, the last place, I couldn't. Yeah, no matter what time I go to sleep, I get up at the same time so may as well go to bed relatively on time. A cherry balsamic sauce sounds yummy on that pork. I usually have pork and sauerkraut for New Year's but not this year! LOL I hope I don't have bad luck all year.
Hi all. Tomorrow will be two weeks since I've had my gastric bypass surgery. I am down 18.6 lbs since 12/11. I see the dietician and the surgeon today for my 2 week check-up. Hopefully, they will say I can go back to work tomorrow. I also hope they say I can start on pureed foods. I already have 3 recipes picked out to make: refried beans, avocado egg salad made with Greek yogurt, and turkey chili. I'm so sick of protein shakes, Pacific Horizons roasted red bell pepper & tomato soup, and bone broth lol.
Water yesterday: 45 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."0 -
Thanks @cbabie! Simple and short goals are best, me too.
@fabgeekmom I am tracking with MFP- sometimes, anyway. I've been kind of half trying and half not trying for the last 6 months. So partly I'm here to maybe give me the extra bump to be more dedicated.
@trooworld hope the checkups go well!
Well I stuck to my goals yesterday so that is something. I desperately wanted take out but everything was closed of course so that helped. I feel the same today- I'm anxious/stressed and I just want to turn to food. I have to work a bit and then go get groceries and make something for dinner.0 -
Morning all, I have been up all night with the stomach bug...I just wanted to get on real quick. I am hoping it's a 2 day thing...it started yesterday morning... I will check in tomorrow and reply to you all..
cbabie0 -
@trooworld The 3 recipes sound good. I can imagine that you are tired of the protein drinks. @cbabie I hope you’re feeling better by the time you read this. @its_cleo Good job on sticking to your goals yesterday. Hi, all. I went grocery shopping after breakfast and ate lunch when I got home so I haven’t exercised yet. I’m getting ready to get on my recumbent bike. DS is cooking dinner tonight: chicken tenders with panko and pecans, baked French fries and salad with homemade ranch dressing.0
-
@its_cleo Thank you! Yay for sticking to your goals yesterday! What do you normally do to avoid turning to food? Maybe it would help to write some ideas down and post them somewhere (if possible)? I hope the rest of your day went well.
@cbabie I'm sorry about your stomach bug. My husband just got over one, it lasted 3-4 days. I hope yours is shorter. Hugs.
@fabgeekmom Thanks! I am SOOO tired of protein drinks lol. Dinner sounds yummy. Did you get on your bike?
Hi all. The check-up appointments went really well. They are very pleased with my progress and adherence to the program. I do have an incision that is on the way to being infected so he prescribed me some antibiotics. They gave me my bariatric vitamins and between everything, it's a lot to remember so I downloaded a free app (Medisafe) to keep track of it all. It will also send me reminders, which will be helpful. I got the clearance to go back to work with no restrictions. I could have waited until next week but I told him I wanted to go back today. I also got the clearance to exercise. I asked my husband to come up with a program for me. I can't make the chili (yet) because of the spices and the ground beef is tough to tolerate at this point. But yes to the other recipes. Instead of the chili, I am going to make Roasted Butternut Squash Feta Soup from Skinnytaste.
Water yesterday: 68 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."0 -
Morning all, I was pretty much out of it yesterday. Feeling much better today, tummy is still sensitive. I have to meal plan today and get some good food in this house. We have way too much sugar. I am still waiting on all my blood test to come in. It's one of those need to see, but not sure you want to see. LOL
@fabgeekmom hopefully you got on your bike and enjoyed your dinner. I am glad you have DS to help with the cooking..I think that should be a requirement...we cooked for them they cook for us. LOL Your dinner sounds yummy.
@trooworld So glad you get to go to work today, but I think I would have taken the day off. LOL. I like things to start on Mondays..you know my little hang ups. LOL. You have done so well and glad your appointment went well. It sounds like you really have a good support team!! Enjoy your day and your squash!
cbabie0 -
@cbabie glad you feel better.
@trooworld – what do I do to not give in with food? Usually I give in lol. I don’t know. Coming up with a list is a good idea. Yesterday- I have a real addiction to ice cream, so yesterday rather than have a bowl, I just basically had 2 spoonfuls in the kitchen. I did weigh the container to make sure it was just a bit. So having a little bit was enough for the craving.
Glad the recovery is coming along- I heard recovering from that surgery can be challenging. I love butternut squash soup. I have a recipe for one with pears in it
.
@fabgeekmom – we don’t eat anything special here (Canada) – though I’ve heard about the black eyed peas thing.
Well stuck to my goals yesterday, although I had sausages for dinner, which isn’t great. But I very rarely have them, so it was just a change.
Today I have to go downtown, so I want to make some soup before I go- I do Hello Fresh occasionally, and they have some good soups though I’m not sure they’re calorie friendly. I love soups for lunch though.

@trooworld I’m glad you’re doing so well and are able to get back to work. That makes sense about the ground floor beef. Maybe later you can eat it I haven’t tried the butternut squash soup but lots of people on the Skinnytaste FB group have raved about it. Yes, I got on the bike yesterday. @cbabie I’m glad you are feeling better. I know what you mean about the sugar. The desserts are all gone but we still have candy and some cookies (store bought). DH is finishing the cornbread. @its_cleo Good job on changing habits slowly. If you like soup, try Skinnytaste.com. I don’t know if you are familiar with the site. The author has lots of recipes that are healthy and tasty. Hi, all. It’s cold here but not as cold as it is in Canada. DH and I are going swimming. Dinner last night was good and we have leftovers for lunch. Dinner is salad and leftover chuck roast from Tuesday night.0
-
@cbabie I'm glad you are feeling better. I hope by the time you read this, you are totally over it. LOL trust me, if I was getting paid, I would have taken the day off, but I ran out of vacation and sick time at the end of last week and I was only going to get 60% of my wages for the week on temporary state disability. See why I went back? Thank you, I do have a good support team!
@its_cleo Yeah I know how that is, it's easy to do! That was good that you only had 2 spoonfuls of ice cream and you weighed it. The recovery can be challenging but luckily, besides the incision possible infection, I've been great since the surgery. Ooh that sounds yummy, can you share the recipe/link? Good job sticking to your goals! I love soups as well. Although I've been eating a lot of them lately lol.
@fabgeekmom Yes, she said that the turkey chili would be a good meal to have when I move on to my regular diet. That's good to hear about the soup. Yay for biking! That's good you can swim even though it's cold.
Hi all. It was freezing here yesterday (relatively speaking lol...in the high 50s F). I had my space heater on most of the day while working. I tried to be as active as I could be: I did some yoga (but had to stop after 10 mins because it was hurting my knee. Next time, I'll try chair yoga), I took one of my dogs on an extended walk, and I also did a Leslie Sansone walking video. I made Cottage Cheese Buffalo Chicken Dip for my dinner. It was really good and hit the spot. I can only have about 1/4-1/2 a cup of food at a time so I will be able to eat this 4-serving dish for a while.
Water yesterday: 80 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."0 -
@fabgeekmom I will try that site. I've heard of it, but never looked. It's not that cold where I am - Toronto- it's above freezing most of the winter now. It's kind of weird tbh.
@trooworld I will try to share it later this weekend. ...I've never had surgery. It's on my mind a lot bc I may need surgery on my right hip but I think it would be minor. MRI on the 17th. They are doing an arthrogram which sounds awful lol. It's a type of MRI. But I want it done so I can move forward with getting whatever the issue is fixed.
I'm not in a great mood, but met my calorie goals yesterday. It feels like a busy weekend. I still havent taken my tree down.0 -
Morning all, I think everything that went out of my system with the bug, I ate back in yesterday LOL So here is to today to get back on track. I was just thinking about losing my weight, but I feel like my goals should be towards my mobility. I don't want to look like Jimmy Carter did at 100, but I would like to reach it. LOL. I was thinking about it and that was my goal when I was in my early teens, to never smoke, never do anything to hurt my body so I could live to be 100. Well I was a smoker for about 10 years, but it's been about 30 years since I quit. So now on to the next goal. LOL
@fabgeekmom good for you for swimming..that will never be one of my routines. LOL I like bath water pool water. SO glad you and DH can now move together.
@its_cleo Just keep doing things like eating 2 bites and not a bowl. That is really how you change your eating habits. great job on doing just that!!
@trooworld Yes I understand needing to go back to work..but so glad you were physically able to do that. That took a whole lot of stress off of you. Can you imagine a year ago someone telling you that you could only eat 1/4 -1/2 cup of food at a time...you would have been depressed, frustrated, and probably been upset at them. LOL. YET look at where you are!!! great job girl.
cbabie0 -
@trooworld Chair yoga is a good idea. I did chair exercises during Covid when I didn’t have a bike. I’m glad you are enjoying your food. @its_cleo Good job on meeting your calorie goal. Sorry you are in a funk. I can understand your apprehension with the MRI and what that will entail. We just got our tree put up. I’m glad your weather is not that cold. I looked up your weather and yours is about 10 degrees less than mine. I’m in Virginia so not as cold as the northern states. @cbabie It’s understandable that you are hungry after being sick. Although now is the time to get started on a healthy routine. But good that you quit smoking. Hi, all. It’s cold here and we are getting Arctic air. I haven’t left the house. I worked out on my bike and even did a workout with weights while pedaling. One of the instructors said something interesting: When you enjoy what you are doing ( exercise and healthy living), you will see results.0
