    Happy New Year ladies!

Barbie - thank you for setting us up with the new month and new year! I'm on the same page as you - if it works, no need to fix it or change it up. I made a list of "to do's" early last year when I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Like 10,000 steps per day, vinegar before each meal, etc. Medical issues changed a few things during year, by necessity. I'm happy with the changes. The diabetes prevention class has us report activity minutes which keeps me on top of getting in movement each day.

Carol - wow, so glad your DH was at the ER when this all happened and they were able to get him into the cath lab. Hope he's doing well today and can make it back home soon! <3 That hospital maze sounded worse than a major airline terminal. :s

Tracey - Michaela is such a great helper, nice shelving unit!

Lisa - Is your daughter's ex in trouble with any authorities regarding that stunt with the grands? He's a piece of work to put it nicely. Yes, I'm sticking with original Medicare too. Some of those insurance plans have nice perks but coverage can be dicey in some areas. So glad you saw major health improvements last year!

    Michele
    - so weird about CVS messing up the prescriptions. Wasn't that chain in trouble? Maybe I'm thinking Rite-Aid.

Kylia - great idea to move laundry and household chores like that to midweek and keep your weekends free. How's the W11 restart doing?

Rosie woke me up at 11:30, scared from the boomers. So I moved from the bed to the recliner and held her. The fireworks didn't stop until 1. I think I snoozed for half an hour so a nap or two is in order today.

Need to take down my little Christmas tree and put everything away until next December.

Well happy new year to everyone! πŸ’–. We went to bed at 8:50 pm!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Thank you Barbie starting us off, with a new thread for not only new month, but new year.πŸ’–

I have to admit when reading this thread, it has taught me so much, of what works, and what doesn't. How you all navigate thru your lives, handle stresses, handle family and more importantly, handle grief, it makes me a more confident person. Like I am not in this alone. And I so appreciate that.πŸ˜πŸ’–

I also have come to realize something. All thru my life I have wanted a tribe, you know "my people". Moving all the time in the Navy, it was hard to have that. I mean I made friends sure, and I was active socially, but now? Not so much. Am I bummed about that? No, not really. But my tribe is here, on this platform and that's a nice thing.

So 2025 will be my year. My words seem to be P Words. Persevere, and Persistence!
I have started intermittent fasting again. Presently I am on hour 17. My joints just do so well when I practice this every day. As do my head. No morning headache even getting up at 7:30 am! Drinking my strong brew, black. Its a familiar bitterness. It gives me strength.

Today I will have my chicken salad I like. I have both an apple and celery screaming at me " use me already"! I might use my cole slaw I have and add some of that as a base, figuring I need to use that up. I will add more apple cider vinegar to it, to thin it down. Plus Old Bay, and pepper. I do need to figure out how many calories my concoctions run though, just for sh1ts and giggles.

I have Alexa on this tablet giving me reminders to "turn tablet off at 7:30 pm" so I can reset my brain for bed. Not taking my melatonin gummies, as that would break my fasting.

Out with drinking sodas, I will stick to drinking Pellegrino sparkling water.
As you might have already noticed, I am a feast of famine sort of personality. I am either whole hog in, or not. No in between. I have always been this way. And my track record of completing things is shockingly awful! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ So in a renewed committed state, I will see what happens when I stick with something. I already know what happens when I don't. πŸ™„πŸ’–

@minicooper452 - Welcome back, Carla! Glad you're here. It's been a while... Are y'all in the deep freeze up there in Minnesota?

Just procrastinating, because I'm waiting for an export. Been playing with AI to create graphics for my titles and thumbnails, and honestly, I'm having a blast. The spoiler has what AI created from my description of me and Egg.

Hugs to Carol and Barbiecat. You know this group has you in our hearts and arms. Allie and everyone else with stressful family, the same goes to you.

I’ve had a busy and stressful (more than usual) couple of days. Spent 3 hours on the phone to FINALLY find the package with the new iPhone, watch, and iPad in it. It finally got to my son, who went to the Verizon store too late to get everything transferred and set up. A few doctor appointments had to be changed and scheduled Mamo for March.

I’ve upped one of my meds from 150 mg to 300mg to help deal with all the stress I’ve had lately. It has really helped. My doctor has told me to do that. I can vary between the two doses to manage my chronic depression. I was putting it off, but glad I finally gave in. Really helping.

This morning, our hose froze and until I wrote this, we had no water until I remembered we have a full tank of water and we can use that and the pump. SHEESH! memory is a weird thing!

My word for this year is : Changes. By the sounds of things written and happening to all of us, it is a good word! I am working on making small changes to help my stress and per doctor’s instructions, lose weight. I am re-starting the diabetes class with the goals, etc. There are still a few classes to finish the year of official classes, but I’ve let things slip and need to start over. Beginning today!

    Joke of the day:
Have you seen those traffic circles or driven around them? Well they are pointless!

    Happy New Year!

Neighbors had a party that ended sometime around 2AM or maybe that is just when I finally was able to get to sleep. Lots of fireworks all around also. It wouldn't have been bad if it was just the musid but it was the really off key/bad Mexican Kareoke and the screams that got very annoying. I did go out on the deck to the shared fence to tell them to please quiet down- Don't think they heard me. Turned the sound machine on a bit louder and went to sleep. I did sleep in- I guess the cats were up late too because all of them were still sleeping when I woke up at 9.
Dh worked last night. I am guessing he went straight to his mom's house to check on her dog and then fell asleep- I haven't heard anything from him

Not sure what the plans are for today. Do need to declutter the living room- starting to bug me.

On homeowners insurance-my MIL's went way up this year, she has had one claim in the past 30 plus years-not sure how long(drunk driver took out part of her fence in the front yard)
I think dh said it went from 1400 to 2400- Can't remember the numbers right now-not enough tea and too little sleep. It was a huge amount. He called and changed the deductible to lower it some but still higher than last year.

Great video girlie! First of many? I sent it to youngest son.πŸ’–πŸ‘πŸΌ He is STILL awaiting orders to be cut for him to transfer to the states for further treatment. As it is now, husband yelled to him in video chat during Christmas, "keep staying under the radar, you have a sweet deal there, starting work at 8:30 am, pick up trash, break at 10, pick up more, hour lunch at noon, couple more hours trying to look busy, then off at 4 pm. The doctors have put in their required paperwork. Just awaiting the peeps that cut the orders. Tricare will mostly give him cheaper, less effective treatment options, as the infusions are costly. He is not looking forward to stateside treatments. Right now he is feeling well and the infusions are suppressing symptoms.
    Hugs to you and Egg.

Rebecca, that's the notion, for it to be one of many. Will be posting weekly. I've a couple of scripts already completed, and getting better at editing with every one. Every healthcare org starts with cheapest option, and this is my third major. So glad they caught his early.

For those wondering, not posting my videos here as MFP gets snarky if you post anything that is money making. I'm not making a penny, but their automated system doesn't know that.

Seeing the New Year in ...
At 9:30 pm and midnight, Hobart set off fireworks. I don't think fireworks are allowed anywhere else, although little firecrackers are and some of those went off at midnight in the vicinity of the beach.

I had hoped we might be able to see Hobart's fireworks from where we now live, but we're too far away. All we could see is the different coloured glows from the different coloured fireworks.

However, at midnight, I was standing on a step stool on the deck leaning out to see what I could see, and my husband was behind me. And on other decks around us, other people were standing and calling out "Happy New Year" to each other. So I turned and gave my husband a kiss and told him I love him ... and of course, he told me he loved me.

Then everyone went inside and all was quiet again. :)

We had set up our All Regions DVD player and were watching The Bob Newhart Show. Neither of us have ever seen it but last year, I got the box set of Newhart (set in Vermont) and we enjoyed that. So we decided to try The Bob Newhart Show. We watched the whole first season on New Year's Eve. :)

There just aren't any sitcoms on TV anymore, so I've been gradually collecting sets and the other boxed set I got this year was the old Night Court. We'll watch that next.

In January & February in Australia, tennis takes over the TV so it's helpful to have DVDs on hand for then, or for other times when TV gets boring.

Hello all! I am here. Perhaps a "mwah-ha-ha" evil laugh should follow that statement?! Nah...
My life just got amazingly busy, loud, and a little crazy once September/October rolled in. Lots and lots of babies to care for. A couple of financial setbacks (auto and medical (non-emergency for hubs)). Then good family news- my oldest son's engagement, followed by bad family news- my brother in law (older sister's husband) passed the day after Thanksgiving and then my daughter and grands unable to fly up for the holidays. My brain just shut down in December. I went on autopilot for three weeks to make it to my vacation time.
I had last week off and was busy with my youngest son's birthday (my home), Christmas Eve family gathering (my home), Christmas Day family gathering (my home), and my oldest son's wedding on the 27th (wedding in the woods in the a.m. and reception later in the day...a happy day...a looooong day). I spent Saturday and Sunday dozing. lol I have this week off to rest and work on my childcare calendar/activities for the upcoming year. I have reset my eating and exercise, which has taken a backseat for four months. I was going to weigh in this morning; but slept in and forgot when I woke up. So...I will weigh tomorrow morning so I have a starting point for this year. I haven't chose a word for this year, yet.
Anyway, I tracked you down! My sisters from other mothers. My family of choice. My tribe of warrior women. I can't go back and read all of the goings on with everyone over the past four months; but please know that I have been thinking of you all the entire time and reading a bit here and there.
Barbie- I was so sorry to read of Jake's passing! So glad the kids were able to be there for you. I am holding you up in thoughts and prayers for peace, comfort, and strength. Sending all of the love!
Carol- Sorry to hear of your husband's heart attack, but WOW! It happened at the hospital! The best place to be in that circumstance. Healing prayers for him and sending comfort to you!
Allie- Your baby is not so little any more! She is a beauty!
Lisa- Just UGH! in regards to your daughter's situation with her ex! It sounds as if it is being taken care of; but I can't even imagine the anxiety this gives her when it comes to future visits with dad. Maybe legal courts or mediation can step in and put him in his place?
Heather- Beautiful family pic! Everyone looks well and healthy! Cheese is a wonderful gift! lol
Machka- The yard is looking good! The sunshine in your pics looks fantastic to me. It has been a rainy gloomy mess, here in Michigan. Yuck!
Kylia- I got your card! Thank you so much! It was beautiful and your words warmed my heart!

More of you I want to reply to, but I will save it for tomorrow.
Love you all! xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Nice to see you! You didn't have a lot on your plate, you had platters full friend! You got thru it so that's something! Congrats on the wedding, condolences on the brother in law passing.
You can breathe. Right now.....take a breath in.....release out......
    Hugs!

Happy New Year!! I am looking forward to what the new year brings.
Barbie--I am so sorry to hear about Jake. Glad you have local support and we are here. Sending prayers and hugs,
Carol--Sounds like DH was very lucky to be in ER at the time. Prayers for healing.
Rebecca--I am very happy to be a part of this tribe. You ladies mean so much to me.
Not sure how December flew by. We went to Iowa for our grandson's 18th birthday on the 17th. He wanted grandpa, uncle, dad and cousin to get matching tatoos. Well DH had been having some hip pain and seeing chiropractor for pain. It got bad on the ride home so chiropractor had him go to primary doctor for a xray. Found out his hip joint had come apart. He has lost so much weight the muslce couldn't hold it together. So he has to see orthopedic doctor to have it replaced. Because of holiday they can't see him until Jan 6th. So we spent a quite Christmas at home. They finally gave him some decent pain meds, but needs to get something done soon. I am learning just how much I depended on him for as now I am doing it.
Rebecca, Kylia--cards are important to me at Christmas also. I so enjoy hearing from friends and family atleast once a year. I would gladly add any of you ladies to my list, just message me your address.
Deb--Sure hope things work out that MIL is placed somewhere that can deal with her moods.
Thanks everyone for sharing your Christmas pictures. Feel like family.
Blessings, Vicki, GRAND ISLAND, NE <3

So sorry to hear of DH's hip pain! I hope he can get in to get that taken care of. I love cards so much! Its
part of my decorating during the holidays.πŸ’–πŸŽ„
