12/24-190.6-(Trend Weight: 192.0)- Oh boy! Here we go! From here until the end of the year! Baking starts tonight and will go on until Friday. Our family party is on Saturday. Today will also be out-of-town shopping for fudge and cookie supplies. That means restaurant dinner and lots of car sitting. The Challenge begins! T-minus 3 lbs with 2 lbs to go on my micro-mini goal. I don’t expect to hit it by the end of the year but I’m staring it down and on it’s heels! Merry Christmas to those who celebrate His Birth.
12/31-192.6-(Trend Weight: 192.9)- After a one day buffer following our weekend Christmas dinner and party, I landed at a 1.8 lb loss over yesterday as I begin to work my way back down (thinking Positive here!). I am down 0.4 lbs from the start of December. So this is where I start 2025, like it or not. I was definitely lower at the start of 2024. On my first mini 5 lbs goal I’m at T-Minus 0.8 lbs with 4.2 lbs left to go. I’m feeling pretty committed right now but it’s always easier to be when you are not hungry. I’m pawning off more of my baked goodies and candies today. My construction workers will take some home! It’s necessary! Happy New Year everyone. Thanks for another great round full of great pics, ideas, advice and kindness. See you all in 2025!

I went to Planet Fitness and had a great workout. I am going to Pilates on Thursday morning.
I am looking forward to losing 15 pounds in 2025. I feel best when I'm 155 lbs. Even though I'm not that tall, I am curvy. I also would love to get off my blood pressure meds. Happy New Year, friends!7 -

Oatmeal is a good plan. I had some yesterday. It keeps you full for a while.
I need to get back in a groove. Your four day plan is inspiring. (Cheeseburgers and beer for me last night). Oh how easy it is to slip back into the free for all.6 -

I weigh in officially on Wednesdays since the 1st was a Wednesday this month. I do weigh myself daily but only post here once a week. I am eating smaller portions and healthier stuff though I did get into the rest of the peppermint bark today- yum. But we took the granddaughters to lunch for sushi which was fun. I am glad they are adventurous eaters...I get tired of pizza and Chick Fil A. I am not drinking any alcohol and that is making a difference in my sleep and food choices as well. I won't eat mindlessly snack if I do not drink. I'm going for a completely dry Jan and possibly beyond. Good luck to all achieving their goals!7

I had three "bad" days this week and still maintained. This is where I slip into danger territory. I can hear myself saying that it doesn't matter if I cheat a little. I am also telling myself that 146 is close to goal, so close is good enough.
But I stated above that my long term goal is still 134. I haven't been there in so long (first pregnancy) that I can't even imagine it. There are still four weeks left in this challenge and they will make a difference. I like looking at the above weekly record. It is a reminder to me to stay at it. I can't allow myself to slip into "maintenance mode". Maintenance is its own thing and something I need to learn.
Thank you all again. As usual I appreciate reading your posts.8 -

Oh dear. that is 3 lbs up in December. This time of year is so hard, but this has to stop. These pounds must go before the end of January.
@faurotann Well done, you are so close to goal. Your success and that of others inspires me. Thank you! We must keep going. A Very Happy 2025 to you all.7 -
I am proud of all of us for showing up, trying our best, and sharing our ups and downs.9

Thank you @RubyRed427 for continuing this challenge. Thanks to everyone for the useful advice I have read on this thread this week. There's lots of things I need to look at and consider, thanks all. Although I only look at this page once a week, it is reassuring to know that others are in the same situation as me and we are all making progress!
My aims for this month are to: get back to being active - even if the weather isn't great, reduce my bread/pasta/rice/potato intake, try to get at least 7 hours sleep a night and to return to tracking my meals - if only to see what I need to do to get into 130-ville!
My name is Nikki, and I'm 5'3" (on a good day!). I'm based on the south coast in the UK. I'm in my 50s and work full time as a teacher. I'm pretty active - but there's always room for some more.
I've lost my way slightly with the end of term and the start of the Christmas break. It is a little worrying how easily chocolate, sweet things and snack-y things seem to make their way into my mouth, just because it is the holiday!!
Now it's the New Year, I'm heading back to work, which I hope will be easier not to get distracted with not so good food choices! However, I know my colleagues will be bringing in the excesses of Christmas food that they haven't eaten. I'm going to have to stay strong when I walk in the staff room. I am going to log my weight to keep me accountable to myself and remind me that it is possible to lose weight, if I really want to, as shown by my previous progress!
My GW is 133lb
my UGW is 126 - although that is very optimistic!
I weigh in on Thursdays.
Progress so far:
08 Aug - 150
15 Aug - 148 (-2lb)
22 Aug - 145.4 (-2.6lb)
29 Aug - 147 (+1.6lb)
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS FOR AUGUST: 3lb
05 Sept -145.6 (-1.4lb)
12 Sept - 144.6 (-1.0lb)
19 Sept - 144.2 (-0.4lb)
26 Sept - 144.0 (-0.2lb)
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS FOR SEPTEMBER: 1.6lb
03 Oct - 145.2lb (+1.2lb)
10 Oct -144.2lb (-1.0lb)
17 Oct -144.5lb (+0.3lb)
24 Oct - 143.6lb (-0.9lb)
31 Oct - 144.8lb (+1.2lb)
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS FOR OCTOBER: 0.4lb
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS FOR THIS CHALLENGE: 5.2lb
07 Nov - 143.2lb (-1.6lb) Yay!
14 Nov - 142.8 (-0.4lb) Not much of a change, but I'll take it. It's difficult to stay motivated when the weight loss is so slow. I'm also not doing so well with tracking this week, so I need to get back into the habit.
21 Nov - 143.0 (+0.2lb) Not too bad in the scheme of things, I just need to get back to tracking and being a bit more mindful of what I am eating!! Tracking really is the way to go!!
28 Nov - 142.2 (-0.8) I'm late posting- but this was my weight on Thursday! Hurrah!! Still plenty to work on, but I'm not sure how I had a loss this week! I'll accept it and see how next week looks!
TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS FOR NOVEMBER: 1.0lb Not a huge loss, but a better weight than I have been for sometime!
05 Dec - 141.6 (-0.6lb) although it isn't much of a loss, getting to 141 lb is a big milestone for me. I've not seen that number for a very long time! Don't quite know what I did to get to this weight though. I still haven't gotten around to tracking, but this will become more important in the next few weeks now that Christmas is looming!
12 Dec - 141.6 (0lb) No change, but I haven't been as mindful as I could have been with my food choices, so I am glad to have maintained. I finish work this week - so the challenge will be not to eat everything I can find in the house whilst telling myself "it is a treat"!
19 Dec - 142.5 (+0.9lb) Far too many temptations!!
26 Dec - 144.3 ( +1.8lb) This could be a whole lot worse - so I'll accept it!
TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN FOR DECEMBER: 2.7lb - I was expecting this, but I am still lower than I was at the start of August 2024.
02 Jan - 144.0 (-0.3lb) I don't think I can count this as a loss! Back to work soon, so I'll go back to tracking and looking at ways to be active. The weather outside isn't great for going for a walk!

I went to Pilates this past week and worked out at Planet Fitness.
This week, I've already signed up for Yoga and Pilates class. I will hopefully meet my long term goal of two exercise classes per week. I will throw in an extra workout, too.
I have not gone for a walk outside (which was my simple goal). It is really cold and snowy but that's not my excuse. I just don't feel like going for a walk.
My food calories are reasonable, but I have clearly hit a plateau. I'm hoping that this week when I am back to work, I will be able to lose a pound or two.
I love reading all of your posts! They keep me motivated.7 -
@NikMar That's hugely inspiring to get to 141. That's a significant milestone for me too. Five pounds away. It's where I was when I got pregnant with my second child.
I apologize if anyone is annoyed by the pregnancy references. It's the marker for a life time battle against weight for many of us. I guess it's the time we say goodbye to our youth.7 -
Today's goal. No chocolate! I am still eating what is left from Christmas! I weigh in tomorrow.5
-
Went to yoga last night. It is a snowy day here. The studio was warm, cozy, candlelit and at first I kept yawning doing the poses, but by the end I was in heaven at how relaxed I felt. I slept so well.

01/07-193.4-(Trend Weight: 192.9)- Exactly the same as I was on Jan 1st. Who am I fooling? I know why. But I have finally pawned off the last of the cookies and fudge from our Family Christmas celebrations on Dec 28th so things should go a little smoother from here. Clearly I need to work on more than just my diet. I need to work on my attitude and my resolve too. I’ve been experiencing a lot of different stresses, pressures and depressions lately with things that are difficult to immediately change. I need to figure out how to get through it all. I will keep working on my meal planning, water and pre-logging and hope the will to exercise comes back around. That is my pledge to me right now and I hope I don’t let myself down. I need positives!

I was 75% successful with my 4-day plan Jan 2nd through Jan 5th. (On Jan 5th I just succumbed to chocolate, orange juice and incessant couch snacking after dinner).
I make my oatmeal (with spinach, berries and chia/flax) in four-day batches, so for the remainder of January, I think 4-day plans are a good idea for my focus to reach challenge goal. Often, if I haven’t prepped breakfast in advance, I use that as an excuse to wash away the whole day with “bad” food choices. I recognize that my “all or nothing” mindset is the real challenge for me to address. Also, I think I need to eat bigger lunches and dinners to make the post-dinner snacking ultimately cease.
My plan for this Jan 7-Jan 10
- weigh-in on 1/10
- oatmeal breakfasts
- on Friday 1/10, make sure I make my next batch of breakfasts for seamless progress!
- Jan 8th and Jan 10th some kind of weight-bearing exercise
- full dinners without snacking afterwards
- log foods? I’m resistant to add this one because “I don’t want to” in my gut. Maybe I should set MFP to an 10,000 calories daily and not care about all the numbers, but just the practice of logging. I don’t like seeing when I’ve gone over my fat and sugar intakes by a lot, so I don’t like tracking. But maybe I do need to address this for weight loss?4 -
How do you make the oatmeal with spinach in advance? I'm intrigued by the spinach. I like spinach but never considered it with oatmeal. Such a nutritional powerhouse!4

@faurotann - I cook a cup of dry steel cut oats on the stovetop. Once cooked I add a block of frozen cut spinach. It gets drowned out by the bag of frozen berries I add - so it all tastes quite good (to me!) once divided into 4 servings. It’s a bit odd, but similar to many people’s breakfast smoothies. For a real treat, I’d make the oatmeal with milk, but I’ve cut that out and just use water.4

Thank you so much. I'll do it. It sounds satisfying and good. I googled it and most of the recipes I saw were for smoothies. And it's interesting you used steel cut oats. Everything I looked at had old fashioned oatmeal.4

I am having smaller portions and continue to be alcohol free which started 10 days ago. I have actually lost 3 lbs since Dec 28 but since Jan. 1 it is 1.8. Since I was hoping for 2 lbs a week but this is close enough and I'll take it! I would like to lose 5 more lbs this month.6 -
