2 Jan - Walked 1.25 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Treadmill
3 Jan - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 1.25 miles - Treadmill
4.75/80.00 miles
I hadn't really set a goal for the month, so I might as well make it 80 again.
It's been really busy the last 3 days so the start of the month, exercise wise, has been slow and short. Keeping up the streak, at least.4 -

It would be removing the inactive from the list. We lost quite a few when MFP acted ugly and took away the newsfeed. However, I did not make this group and I am only going on the premise that it was a group for MFP users on Strava. Even the owner does not come here or on Strava.

Jan total 10.3/110 miles
YTD: 10.3 miles
1/1: 5.9 miles
1/3: 4.4 miles
Short run after work today. It was nice today. I went to the neighborhood trail.
Yesterday I went to Pilates. My husband even came along. Really going to try to build some consistency with Pilates.7 -
January Goal: 125 miles
1/1: 6.25 miles
1/2: 6.02 miles
1/3: 4.02 miles
16.29/125 miles completed for January
I ran 4 miles this morning. It was not as chilly this morning as yesterday at 38°F. It was still cold, but I felt a little overdressed. Since today was a shorter run I ran a little faster than usual. It felt pretty good. Tomorrow will be a rest day and then I am hoping for nice weather on Sunday for my long run. It is supposed to be in the 20's next week, and I am not looking forward to that.

@quilteryoyo lol maybe a 1000 layers.3

Hi everyone!
It snowed a bit here last night and even though I left for my run pretty late in the morning there were some really icy patches. I was lucky I didn’t fall and spent all the run reading the terrain to pick the best route. It was still really enjoyable. I love how the snow makes everything look different . Tomorrow it is supposed to snow all day. I hope I can get out for a real snow run before things warm up again on Monday. I ran 9.5km.
30.1/280km for January.8 -
Since I have been active in this thread, we have lost @KeepRunningFatboy , @MobyCarp , @PastorVincent and @shanaber. I miss them all.
Yes, me too. Thank you for mentioning them all because I couldn't come up with MobyCarp's name in my head although I absolutely remember all of them. They all had different personalities, experiences, and challenges but all were so generous in sharing and supporting in this group.
It's snowing pretty steadily here today. I might get my snowshoes out and take Stella if she's willing - the snow is pretty fluffy so hopefully wouldn't get ice and salt in her paws which is what she hates (but won't tolerate boots).7 -
Afternoon all
Got in 4.0M at 10"34.

There was a mass exodus to Lose It when MFP took down the personal newsfeed. It's almost useless to add friends on MFP, now.

Nice run and Pilates @martaindale . I love seeing when family members join in on the fun.
Nice run @kgirlhart . It looks like a lot of us are getting really bad weather next week. Hopefully everyone will stay safe and warm. My treadmill will be getting a workout as the temps are supposed to stay below freezing for a few days.
@Laurz9191 I'm glad you managed to avoid falling on the ice. I do hope you get a nice snow run.
Way to get back to it @tarun_yadavA . I assume this means that you made it back home safely.

Starting the new year off with quite a lot of miles but today took it easier.
Up to 29.65 out of 100 goal.
As far as the strava group honestly I dont really find it active at all. I have a tendency to clear out inactive friends on MFP, but over the years I sort of regret it because a lot of times they end up returning.
Agreed not much use for MFP friends now, except I have kept a few that I will private msg once in a while. Hoping that something will change eventually which brings back that newsfeed feeling we had as I enjoyed posting and commenting daily on it and the encouragement from others to my "streaks7 -
I was here when @KeepRunningFatboy, @MobyCarp, @PastorVincent and @shanaber all passed. I participated in all of the dedication runs to them. They all made an impact on me, and it shows how people can come together and care for one another even though we may have never met in person.
I got out for 6 miles this afternoon after winterizing sprinklers and faucets for the upcoming freeze event next week. Like @quilteryoyo said, the treadmill will get a workout next week, although it would feel like summer for @WarmJellyfish, I'm not a fan of the cold.7 -
Jan total 20.7/110 miles
YTD: 20.7 miles
1/1: 5.9 miles
1/3: 4.4 miles
1/4: 10.4 miles
Went to the spring creek greenway trail for my long run. And wore my springy new shoes. So nice! The easy pace Garmin chose is getting easier, to the point that I have to try to stay slow enough. That's encouraging.
I'm hoping this plan will introduce some race pace runs soon. So far I haven't done a single run at race pace. It's been a combo of easy runs, about 2 mins slower, and intervals, about 30 secs faster. The Hansons plans I have used in the past incorporate a weekly race pace run and I found those very helpful. They build muscle memory and by race day I can slide into that pace without effort and don't have to concentrate to stay there. I'm not sure what racing looks like if I'm unfamiliar with my target pace.

Ran 9 miles today but it was a struggle. The first 3 miles we were running into the wind and that took a lot out of me. We also didn’t get started until noon. It was much warmer at 30F but with 10mph winds, it felt colder. Tomorrow, we’re expecting to get hit with ice and snow and as @quilteryoyo said, it’s not supposed to be above freezing for a few days. It’s January in southwest Virginia!7

Nice job with your run @Teresa502!
Husband and I have spent today getting things ready for the storm here in central Virginia. We’re expected to get 4-8 inches of snow and possibly ice as well. Three years ago we had a similar storm and we were without cell service (a couple of days) and power was out for about 4 1/2 days. Trees were down and broken in half from the ice that fell over top of snow covered trees. My car got hit by a tree and had a couple of thousand dollars worth of damage that year.
I love the snow! Grew up near Lake Ontario and we often had a lot of snow (similar to Buffalo). Hopefully it’ll be a pretty snow and without too much damage. We’ll see….
It’s supposed to reach us tomorrow evening and through Sunday night and into Monday.
I hope it doesn’t hit you too hard @Teresa502.

You're doing great @SummerSkier ! Already over a quarter of the way to your goal and it's only day 4! I am on the Strava MFP group, but don't ever see any activity. I, too, miss the newsfeed here and see no need to accept new friend requests when you can't really communicate with them except through private messages.
Nice 6 miles today @Scott6255 . Treadmills are a friend to those of us who don't like running in the cold.
Great long run @martaindale . I love that the easy pace is feeling slow for you. What plan are you using? Would it mess things up to throw in your own race pace runs?
You are a stronger person than I @Teresa502 . I did get out about that time and take Esther for a walk, but that wind was freezing. I had on my big coat and long johns and was ok, except for my ears when my hood blew off.
@daria0919 I hope you get some pretty snow, but not the ice and downed trees. They are now saying we may not get any snow here, but may get some freezing rain. It depends on the timing of the rain and the temps. So, it could be bad, or it could be nothing. I'm hoping for the latter. I hope you don't get hit too bad where you are @Teresa502 .

Did an easy, slow treadmill run today. I had planned on a true wun, but ran a little more and faster than I expected I would, so am calling that 2.5 miles a run. Avg pace was 4.4 mph. Avg HR was 111 with a max of 140 bpm.6 -
@WarmJellyfish I love your bunny!!! 🥰3

You all have already been so busy for the start of January! I have caught a cold so I haven't done much yet. First run of the year yesterday, I did 5km at my local parkrun. It was -1⁰c but the course wasn't frozen.
Today I was meant to start a new Garmin training plan but we had a bit of snow overnight so I think i'll wait for it to melt before I go out
My goal for the month will be 60 km8 -
Snow has been coming down fast and heavy for the past couple of hours. I’m ready for it to stop but I don’t think it’s going to. I did about 35 minutes of yoga. May hit the treadmill later. Anyone else doing meal prep today? This morning I made some egg bites from Jennifer Garner’s recipe that she posted on Instagram. They turned out good. I also baked some sweet potatoes and prepped a salad from tomorrow’s lunch.
Any snow in northern VA yet @daria0919?4 -
No snow here yet @Teresa502. We’re prepared for a power outage though when it does hit. It has gotten cloudy and cooler. It won’t hit us til about 7 pm and is predicted to snow most of the night.
We live in a rural area with lots of trees. We always lose power. We have a camper so we go “glamping” a few times a year. We have propane ready and can sleep in the camper if we lose power and the house gets too cold. Unfortunately our house propane is low and Southern States is slammed with people needing propane, so since we in theory have electricity they won’t get to us before the storm.
Hopefully you won’t get too much more snow Teresa.
I made a lot of extra coffee for my husband which we can reheat once we’re out of power 😆. Can cook food in the camper on the stove run on propane.
Still planning on going to the Y for yoga class in a bit. We’ve been charging cell phones and flashlights and have candles ready.
Hoping we over prepared so that nothing happens and the storm misses us 😂7 -
Hi Everyone. Happy New Year. I’m late joining this month but have been running. My mother-in-law died after Christmas so all the family are a bit upside down. She died on her 87th birthday & they were all able to be with her.
We have snow forecast here for tonight too but I don’t expect it will be anything as severe as some of you may get so stay warm.
Because my foot is still hurting I’m going to stick with the short runs. It was getting better & then I did 4 miles on Boxing Day & set it right back😅. I’m in for 50 miles again.
01/01 2.58 miles

26.31/125 miles completed for January
After I posted my run on Friday evening, I was checking the weather and saw that it was supposed to be 20+mph winds on Sunday so I decided to do my long run yesterday instead of today. I definitely made the right call. It was about 57°-62° during the run. It was a little windy, but it was about 8-10 mph and from the south. I wore shorts and a t-shirt and was dressed perfectly. I ran 10 miles. It was a really nice run. I felt stong and I enjoyed being outside. The wind was starting to pick up as I got home, and it got worse as the day progressed. It is already much colder today and the wind is blowing from the north at 20 mph and it is 38° feels like 27°. It is sunny and looks nice, but it would be pretty unpleasant for 10 miles. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 22° feels like 13°, but only 8 mph winds. Hopefully it won't be too horrible for a shorter run.
@mari33a I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

I'm glad you are feeling better @Emilienewme . Is that puppy in the picture yours?
Be careful out there @Teresa502 . The treadmill sounds like a good plan. I don't really meal prep, but that's one of those things I would like to do.
@daria0919 Sounds like you are really prepared for the storm. I hope, like you, that you are over prepared. I love that you made coffee ahead of time.
My condolences on your loss @Mari33a . I hope you foot gets back to normal soon. Glad you are able to do short runs.
Nice long run @kgirlhart . Sounds like you made the right call.3 -

5 Jan - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Treadmill
8.75/80.00 miles
Did my normal rest day mile walk on the treadmill. Today, I had lunch first and also took a long nap. I needed that.
We're just now getting some rain. I think the snow and ice is going to stay just North of me. It will only be an issue if the temps drop more than expected tonight. I hope everyone that is in the path of the ice and snow stay safe and warm.2 -
It’s snowing!! ☃️☃️☃️

Morning all.
Got in 5.0M at 10"55 (exactly the same as yesterday - forgot to post yesterday!)
Got over jetlag finally! Glad we had the wknd to recover.
Miserable here.
January in the UK is just miserable. As nice and Christmassy and all 'Love actually' London is in December... January? Everyone's broke, everyone's put on weight, back to work, and the weather is awful. Dark by 4 and just rains and sleet. Miserable.8 -
@daria0919 looks pretty. If you're gonna be inconvenienced by the weather - better it be postcard like than just wet and dreary.3
-
Great run @tarun_yadavA . Sorry it is so miserable in London this time of year. I did love your description though. LOL
Pretty @daria0919 . We didn't get anything but rain, thankfully. Gonna get really cold starting tonight though, for the rest of the week.2 -
It was a pretty snow! It turned into falling icy rain a few hours ago and that’s still falling. Should stop sometime after 12:30 for a couple of hours, then back to snow into the evening hours. A bit over 2550 houses (number’s rising) without power in our area right now, but fortunately for us we’re doing ok. I think the over preparedness did the trick @quilteryoyo 😂
Watched Love Actually (yet again) over the holidays - good reference @tarun_yadavA - sorry to hear it’s dreary and soggy now - impressive run in bad weather!
Very sorry for your family’s loss @Mari33a.4
