Mo I always found it hard when my ex came home from deployments. I got use to do everything on my own and found having another adult around was just exhausting! I hear you! Hugs!

    Have a wonderful day!
    Stay safe!
Make the best choices you can!
    Hugs for all!

I remember feeling the same way with my former hubby. The ship would be out for 2 months then home for 2 months. I learned my routine and it was hard when he was home. He wanted me to spend all my time with him and got mad when I couldn't because I had to go to work-I had gotten two jobs while he was out, to keep me busy. At one time, I had three, all part time (had trouble keeping track a few times-went to the wrong one one time)

Carla ... I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. Regardless of the time or circumstances, losing a parent is never easy and the holidays can be brutal when grief is fresh. (I edited to add ... it actually remains difficult during the holiday no matter how much time has passed.) Hugs.

Lisa ... ugh ... I hate old, recurring dreams. Hoping today gets better for you.

Kelly ... good to see you posting again! You have been busy!!

Barbie ... thinking of you every day. Hugs.

Rebecca ... I'm back at IF as well ... 2:00 - 7:00 is my window. Dr. Bert Herring says it's an "opportunity" to eat then ... not a mandate. I have to remind myself of that often.

Last Year/New Year Goals ... I was lighter at the end of the year ... but not significantly so. I really have to get serious about weight loss. So I am following IF (19:5) ... it keeps me from willy-nilly eating. But I will also have to monitor CICO to see exactly how much I'm eating in those 5 hours. I do know that my exercise level is far too low and I need to shake that up. Starting with walking. Either on my treadmill or at the park when the weather allows.

Beth near Buffalo where it has been lightly snowing (the Lake Effect stuff is south of me this time! Yay!)

I seem to be doing 12 to 2 pm, or 12-4 pm. I do better at night if I don't eat past 5 pm. I just sleep better. Goid for us! Yes, not trying to get in 1200 calories in 2 hours just eat what my body tells me. That's my goal. Its the fasting times, that's when my body heals and does its magic.💖

Carla - welcome back! Are you still working for the school district? I remember your beautiful back yard. Stay warm!

Ginny - I think my closet strategy was similar to yours over the years. Couldn't afford many clothes when I was younger so eventually made up for it in quantity, lol. Hope you folks in the path of the upcoming arctic blast don't lose power.

Allie - I'm happy to see SMiles still smiling and Delightful Delia smiling as well in spite of the turmoil in their home. Are you going to be watching Delia for 8 + hours per day or does Tracy work a reduced schedule? You got in a lot of practice watching SMiles until he got too "busy", lol. Good luck - you are a natural caregiver and loving grandmother.

Kylia - From my perspective, I think those kittens have brought immeasurable joy into your life. I can tell you seem a lot less stressed these days with those 2 playing and purring. :p Love the photos and hearing you tell about them.

Barbie - what a nice photo of you and daughter. And Annie! <3 Is Annie a good watch dog? Does she alert you when the doorbell rings or she hears a car door slam for example?

Annie - Happy New Year! Pop in when you can. We understand things can get hectic dealing your dad.

Busy day, I need to get this posted.

    Hey, kids...

I had a great morning, got the last load in the dryer to dry at about 11 a.m., decided I'd nap for a little bit, as my eyes were just drooping a little. Woke up at nearly 2 p.m.! Was still kind of wandering around in the post-nap fog when I realized how badly I was hurting, and that I hadn't taken any of my morning medications at 7 a.m., as I was on the phone with my sis, or my noon meds because I was asleep.

    There's a reason why I don't do that.

    Ow.

I'll be fine when they cut in, but in the meantime, dang... I'm going to go do something seated, like folding laundry.

    Nothing new from my daughter.

    Love y'all,
    Lisa in AR

Forgetting meds must have been going around ... I forgot mine the night before last and spent yesterday feeling weird.

    Morning, my chicks,
Probably because of this, woke up around 2 a.m. screaming. Was dreaming that I was being held captive by someone, and I kept trying to scream but couldn't. Old dream, used to be my abusive father that was emprisoning me, hand over my mouth keeping me from screaming.

Anyway, I finally was able to break the hold and scream, and did so SO loud that it woke me, woke Corey, and probably woke Egg, wherever she was. A shrink would have a field day with me right now.

This too shall pass, this too shall pass, this too shall pass.

Time to get in the shower.
    Love y'all,
    Lisa in AR

I don't know if this will help or not, but it helped me to find out what's actually happening when I experienced sleep paralysis and other sleep-related syndromes. And you may know all this already ...
What you experienced last night and other times is called a parasomnia.

    https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/12133-parasomnias--disruptive-sleep-disorders

    wglnxu21z6vy.png

Non-rapid eye movement (Non-REM) sleep are the first three stages of sleep – from first falling asleep to about the first half of the night.

Of the selection of parasomnia events that take place in this group, I sleepwalk now and then.

Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep follows the three non-REM stages of the sleep cycle. During REM sleep, your eyes rapidly move under your eyelids and your heart rate, breathing and blood pressure are all increased. This is a time when vivid dreaming occurs. Your body cycles through and repeats non-REM and REM sleep about every 90 to 110 minutes.

Parasomnias happen during the latter part of the night. If awakened during the event, it’s likely you’d be able to recall part or all of the dream.

Like you, every now and then, I will experience sleep paralysis. I hate it!!

But somehow knowing that it only lasts a minute or so in real time has helped me break out of it. Mind you, it feels like a very long minute!

In the other category, I experience exploding head syndrome.

Exploding head syndrome: If you have this sleep disorder, you hear a loud noise or explosive crashing sound in your head as you’re falling asleep or waking up. You may also see an imaginary flash of light or have a sudden muscle jerk.

When I was doing my master's degree and taking care of my husband, I experienced this every night. It worried me for a while, but once I found out what it was, I just waited for the big bang ... and then fell asleep.

There's a list of causes, but of course stress is right there among them, and I attribute my sleepwalking, sleep paralysis and exploding head syndrome to stress.

I'm sorry that you're going through this stress with your daughter and grandkids ... and sorry she and the kids are going through this. It's terrible!

Day 3 is in the books. I am feeling accomplished! Today was 2 bowls of soup.
    This is what I did.
1/2 of a yellow onion and 1 and 1/2 T of butter. Put in a squirt of roasted garlic paste, a squirt of Italian herbs, and my 5th flavor which has an umami flavor, then a can on white beans, some cooked baby yellow potatoes, wild rice, and a handful of shredded roast chicken and enough water to not over fill my pan. Then added some chicken stock paste, some pepper, cayenne pepper and turmeric. It was delightful. I have 2 more bowls for tomorrow. I plan on that, and a power plate. That is wilted spinach (splatter water on fresh spinach and microwave about 10 sec), some olive oil, some blobs of cottage cheese, some walnuts, some spoonfuls of olive bruschetta, then some wild rice.

I opened at noon and closed my window at 3:00 pm. Feeling good.👍🏼

    Good Saturday!
There seems to be something going around with equipment and appliances......I have spoken with many people who are needing replacements or repairs in the past few weeks. So strange......

Yesterday was just a weird day....my DH was snappy with everyone....I let him have his monkey and amazingly didn't allow it to affect my peace of mind. We sold more snowblowers yesterday than we have in two years combined. If the weather system doesn't affect us here, the forecasts have at least helped our sales! For reference we sold 8 yesterday. Some of our snowblowers have been in stock for 3 years as we just haven't had any snow to speak of.

Speaking of this weather system, stay SAFE ladies! Those it is hitting will be cold that we aren't use to as well as the precipitation. For us, they are currently saying 4-8 inches of snow, sleet, and ice coming in Sunday night through Monday afternoon. Monday morning I have to get DH hunting, kittens to vet, and work. Grateful for not one, but two 4 wheeled drive vehicles I can drive. They are also talking power outages. The temps dropping to the mid teens (F) as highs. If this should occur, I will be grateful for the whole home generator we just had installed last month. It had been a decision that was 15 years in the making for DH! I said we needed one after being without power for 10 days due to a hurricane. This would be why he does not have my medical POA! He didn't deal well with the last outage that only lasted 10 hours. SMH!

Child Custody- It is so common to have issues. I reckon I am blessed that my ex and I are still cordial. We never said anything negative about each other within hearing of children. We have been to all important events and even been together at their first Disney experience. Our personal experiences played into that decision. His father left his mom while she was still in hospital after having him. Step father never accepted "her" kids. My parents divorced when I was 16. It was nasty then and remains nasty if you ask my mom. Dad has been dead since 1996. The only people to show up to my HS graduation were my brother and my now ex. Dad wouldn't go in case mom showed up. Mom didn't go in case dad showed up. Dad didn't come to my wedding because mom would be there. Sad for him to have missed out on so much of my life. Alcoholism will do that! I know several people experiencing the same thing your families are and it is so sad! LEAVE THE KIDS OUT OF ADULT PROBLEMS!!! Oops, hot topic for me. I do realize there are exceptions to every story and every custody case, but the children SHOULD be PRIORITY in all cases. HUGS!!!!

Anyways, I had 7500 steps yesterday which is 2000 over average! I have been within calories for 5 days. Still haven't found my missing purple pencils, but did clean out a basket of papers and straightened a closet. ;) I just stopped at Walmart this morning and bought a new box of pencils. They are cheap enough. Now the missing ones will show up-hehe!

((HUGS )) for everyone! With missing loved ones, illness, exes, and weather we can all use them!
Make the best choice you can in the moment!
Do one more thing today than yesterday that is good for you!

    Much love,
Kylia in Ohio Thankful that even though it is 14*F today it isn't -0.4*F like it is for Tracey!
