So my aim is 184 lbs. I logged all my foods and hit the treadmill for 30 minutes 6 out of 7 days. Sticking with my regime but going to tweek my foods. I gained a pound. Read all the posts and very impressive 👏.

@Carrielundgren Be encouraged as I too was dealing with knee and ankle pain and it caused me to stop going to the gym. I had stopped weighing myself and didn’t know I had gained weight. I lost some weight and it has taken the pressure off and now the pain is gone! 🙌😃 I hope this to be true for you too!3

Me too,.. I call it my witching hour LOL. What I do is busy myself with exercise and/or projects around the house.... right now I set aside some time to work on decluttering, wouldn't quite say these activities bring me joy LOLOLOL but they keep me distracted

@Rainbow2300 Yes! I turned most of my grass in the side and back yard into wildflower meadows, and they are messy but beautiful. I also try to grow lots of vegetables, and sometimes the groundhogs let me eat the veggies too. It's a constant battle against the wildlife here, even with a fence. But it is a lot of fun to watch things grow and to get to eat produce from our garden. Still 2 months until I can really start anything, though. Sometimes I have an aerogarden in my classroom during the winter to grow things, but I haven't gotten around to setting it up yet this year.5

You are all encouraging me with your grit and optimism. This isn't easy and having a community to share the wins and struggles is so wonderful. Reminding myself this is a lifelong commitment and to take it one day at a time.5
-
@supersparklyk As a science teacher, I LOVE your glacier comparison! I feel like I need to steal that for my classroom when the kids are feeling discouraged by slow progress!
@MaryM6316 I agree with how encouraging it is to be part of a community to share this with! My husband is super encouraging, but he just doesn't get it. Having people here who are doing the same thing that I am is so helpful!3 -
I cursed myself last week when I said that I had my longest stretch of tracking in ages. I fell off the eating wagon on my birthday (not a big deal) but have struggled to get back on track. Other complications were sick kids and now I have shingles.
I had blood work yesterday and had a shock with my cholesterol as it went up significantly from low borderline last year to very high. I started working with a dietitian last fall and did make some changes but still have a weakness for chocolate and baked goods.

I weighed myself this past Wednesday and lost 2lbs! I’m sitting at 185lbs now, and my goal is to lose 40lbs by May 31st. I do strength training and power walking or jogging on my walking pad. I build muscle quickly, so I’m trying to stick with mostly cardio to shred the pounds first.3
-
I didn't weigh in this week, I got the flu on Tuesday and was drinking chicken broth and lots of soups this week so I had a lot of salt! I didn't want to weigh but will this next week. I also have not been able to workout for the past 5 days because of illness. Hopefully tomorrow I can be back on track.2

Hi everyone,
Boston is about to get a snow storm! (I hope it's all hype - they're saying 4 to 8" here right now.) Right now it's mostly sunny and 45°, but clouds are starting to come in. (We had a lot of rain last night and a very sunny morning.)
So my new cat IS here, but she's been hiding, first behind my file drawer, then - I think she might be under my bed, maybe in the boxspring.
She has not used the cat box yet, and I don't think she's eating any food. She arrived last evening about 5:30. I'm just going to hang back and let her come out at her own pace and in her own time. I've spoken and called softly, also meowed and sung to her a bit, but so far, nothing. The foster mom said that when she first arrived at her home, she hid in her boxspring for almost 3 weeks! But Rachel has a husband and a little baby girl at home, so at least here she only has to get used to one new person, in a much smaller place.
It's supposed to get really, really cold here over the next few days (teens in the day and single digits at night). I don't go back to work until Wednesday though, yay!
I will keep everyone posted on our progress.
Hope everyone is doing well!
Enjoy your day,
💗 Carole

Welcome, @catherinemurphy4179 (same first name as my best friend for over 40 years!) and anyone else joining recently - it's never too late! We're glad you're here to share this journey with us!🌹3
-
Hi everyone,
Still haven't seen my new cat come out of hiding yet, but guess what? "MJ" used the litter box last night! This morning I scooped out two, large clumps (no feces, just urine). We didn't even show her where the box was! She found it on her own. I also heard her meow last night. Four quick, tiny meows. (I think she was dreaming.) I was right - she is hiding under my bed. I hope she comes out today! This is supposed to be our "bonding time" and go back to work on Wednesday.
The cat's vet report says she was just over six pounds mid-November. She looks about seven pounds right now. She's fully adult, but her mom had her when she was only about 7 months old. She was the only kitten in the litter, which is quite unusual. I think that's why she's so small. She's over three years old now. My other two cats averaged about 12-15 lbs. in their adult lives, and they weren't even fat!
Boston ended up getting just over 4 inches of snow; so on the low end of the prediction. It's only 19 degrees out right now and tomorrow night is supposed to go down to about 3 degrees! Brrrr!
Have a great day

Welcome, @saturnsmoon64! It's never too late to start! We still have more than 8 weeks until the end of this challenge; so it's still possible for you to achieve your goal. I plan to start up a countdown to summer challenge as well for anyone who'd like to keep going.
I'm not familiar with "TTC" (I will Google it), but I am a BIG stress eater; so I think I can empathize there!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
💞 Carole1 -
Hi again @saturnsmoon64, NOW I know what the term "TTC" means! That is a LOT of added stress right there! I hope you can find some support with others who are also TTC!🌹💗🕊️🙏0

Hi everyone,
(Sorry if this is a copy/paste from other boards you visit and you have already read these updates.) My new cat has started coming out! Here's a copy of the update reports I texted to her foster mom:
Oh! She just snuck out into the living room - just now! But when I spoke softly, like, "Oh look, it's the pretty one!", She bolted. I think I was so quiet, reading something online, that she didn't realize I was on the recliner! Lights are off but fountain light is on and candles are burning. Her tail looks so skinny! I hope she ate some of the food I put under the bed! (There's food in the kitchen too.) I'll let you know if/when she comes back.
She just came back and jumped up on the living room windowsill for about...two seconds, then jumped down and ran! (It's cold on there, maybe I'll put a blanket.)
She's in the living room again, under the window. I put an electric blanket on the windowsill (not plugged in), but she hasn't gone up there yet; she's behind one of the tied curtain panels. She thinks she's hidden, but her butt's sticking out!🤭
Now she's been out here a few times and went back to on the window for awhile. It's getting late so I'll be in bed soon. Hopefully, tomorrow she will show gradually less anxiety as she gets more used to me to adjusts and to her new home!
I hope she comes out again soon!
Today is my last day off until l return to work on Wednesday. It's so cold, but I will dress for it. Hopefully, the new cat will have a chance to explore while I'm gone and acclimate to her surroundings.
Have a great day

Hello everyone,
I lost weight but didn't really hit the number I wanted. Shy 1 pound. I am glad to have lost sonething and I am very much making a lifestyle change. I feel it on all aspects of my life...mentally I am in a ready space for change. My thyroid is realy bad. The meds I am taking didnt change my lab results so the Dr upped my meds. I hope this makes the change I need. Overall, I feel better and I am looking forward to a healthier and more confident version of me!

Welcome, @chocolatemint! I hope the meds will improve your condition. A friend of mine who is also a co-worker had so many side effects from her thyroid meds that she ended up having her thyroid removed. It was a challenging recovery for her but she is doing much better now. Of course she will have to take meds for the rest of her life but she was doing that anyway. Now she's is at a point where her quality of life is much better. She's very young too (in her 20's.).
The weight loss pace is not as important as slow and steady progress. We can do this! 💞3 -
Thank you, @Walela617 !
I'm Chris - 74 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion...
...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
My husband and I are retired.
I see my trainer for 60 mins three days a week and try to walk the other four days. The walking doesn't always work out since we have our Grandson every morning. He's 2 years old and a pistol!!
