We each do things in our own time. I remember hearing all these horror stories about how bad our father used to treat our mom, broke her nose and stuff. I always USED TO SAY that I WOULD NEVER let a man do that to me, I would chop his b&$#ls off first. Well, st husband I had beat the crap out of me for 3 years. You don’t know what you are going to do until you are in that situation. NOW I can say that won’t happen to me, all it will take is just once and that will be it, my *kitten* is gone. You’ll know when you’ve had enough.
Well, tomorrow I will register for another year of the MS Deception Pass Classic.

Rock on, Pip. I had my share of black eyes, too, and a broken nose. 👀I just never actually married that one. He was just before I went in the military. Dodged a bullet. Probably literally.
But I may be thinking that because I've watched all of Will Trent, all of High Potential and 14 episodes of the original CSI in the last couple weeks. 🤔
Welcome to February, everybody! I'm Lisa, and I am watching WAY too much TV lately... 🤣 But I've also broken my own record, and exercised 25 days straight, 12-15 minutes minimum. Yay!
Thanks, Barbie for bringing us with you. You stay in my thoughts, and I'm so glad you're here with us. You are so loved.

Thanks Barbie for starting off February on a positive note. Hugs for all you do, to keep us on the right path, as you make your way thru your journey. 💖
Today was my yearly doctors appt, as I had a renewal of my BP to put in, a referral extension so my Dermatology appt is covered in April plus meet the new doctor. My BP was 119/79. I had my sheet listing when I had my last colonoscopy, mamogram, pap, eye appt, dental, ear and nose. The doctors assistant and doctor were impressed. Being aware of your health history and up to speed on yearly stuff takes vigilance!
I expressed to doctor that I am a reasonably healthy obese person, and I am content with that If my joints or heart were having issues then of course, that would be another story. He put in new prescriptions for some creams I use because they had expired. He also put in labs for me to do in May when I schedule my yearly mamogram. It was a good appt.
I wrote a 5 page letter to a pen pal. Answering their questions, commenting on what they write, plus all the things I wish to express took time! I have two more pen pals to write, then I will be done for awhile. Being that these were letters put in their Christmas cards, a lot of things have happened!
I need to make more stationery pages. I use 3 or 4 cute stickers, with a coordinating washi tape down the side. I have fun doing that, but its tedious. I usually just put on music and zone while I do this.
I bought a cute Valentines Day card for Athena and Eli. Lots of stickers inside! Their poor coffee table. Its just filled with stickers on the top. If it was me, I would buy a poster board put at Athena level and let her put them on that ONLY.
I have decided to schedule a massage every 3 months. Now to poise this to husband is another matter!😂😂

Thanks Barbie for taking us into a new month. I celebrated my birthday today with a slice of Boston cream pie. This is the only time of year I eat it but it is a favorite. It is supposed to be a mix of rain and snow this weekend. Hope it does not end up being too icy. DD's workplace is already considering a late start for Monday.

Barbie - So many thanks for sturdily leading this thread. Like others have said, we send you warm thoughts every day.
Edie seemed to think, on Thursday when we had the girls for breakfast, that she was coming over on Saturday afternoon, while Bea was at Theatre School. She left behind a huge book, and her hairbrush to pick up. I hadn't heard anything about it, so I texted my son yesterday, and, yes, he is bringing her over today, after he has dropped Bea off. We never fail to be entertained by whatever subject she decides to chat about at the table, over our activities. John said both of them never stopped talking the whole of the way to school on Thursday.
Their energy is so reviving, the minute they come through the door, the whole world is renewed. Of course, I need a rest afterwards!
John and I were only talking yesterday, over our morning tea, about how we hope we don't lose them in their teenage years. Max is still fine, and loves to chat with John. I have a feeling that Edie will go through a rebellious phase, but I hope we can be a neutral support for whatever she's going through at the time. It's so important just to listen and pay attention. Even teenagers love to be heard and understood.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

One of my S.M.A.R.T. medical goals was this ... and I accomplished that in January!!
Specific: I want to visit my audiologist
Measurable: The visit to my audiologist
Attainable: I've done it before. I was supposed to do it annually but it is now over 2 years since I have been. I can do it again.
Relevant: Keeping on top of hearing issues benefits our brains and helps ward off dementia as there is a link between hearing loss and dementia. Although I don't have any signs of dementia, I know I do have hearing loss and I'm supposed to keep on top of it.
Time-Bound: In the first 3 months of the year.
Other January Highlights
All the cycling, walking, etc.
The 60 km and 50 km bicycle rides I did
Organising another cycling event
Our bee group
2-day training for work
Getting the Christmas decorations down
Got a gorgeous old display cabinet and had acrylic shelves made
Unpacked a few more items
Finished 2 colourings and read 2 books (plus I'm most of the way through 2 more)

Good morning!
Thank you Barbie for once again starting us out in a fresh month! You are in my thoughts lots!
Carla Sorry for your loss. Prayers and hugs!
My January ended on a positive. I actually got caught up with current work at work yesterday! Apparently morning walks help! Hehe! February will be a full month of changes and challenges. With y'alls support I've got this! Did I mention my son in law is coming back to work with us? He starts on the 10th. I am nervous and excited.
Pride in each of you and your journeys!
Thankful to call you my tribe!
Healing thoughts!
Happy Birthday, Sue!!!!!!!!!
Lots of love,

Carla-prayers for you and family.
Getting caught up with house work since work took most of my time this week. Have a project for the I need to finish by noon tomorrow. Focusing on house this am. Getting outside walk in. Should get everything done. Going to Columbus for conference tomorrow for a couple of days (which is why I need to finish some stuff!)
January very long month. Hope I can focus more on what I read here. Even though I don't comment on all, your stories are part of the fabric of my life.
Need to balance checkbook and pay bills-there may be a bit of shopping in my future!
Take care all,

Good morning ladies!
Thank you, Barbie, for keeping us rolling along. I always look forward to your monthly intro message. I was glad to hear Annie did well guarding the car while you were at the dentist.
Sue - Happy Birthday! Boston Cream pie sounds like a wonderful treat. It will be interesting seeing what materializes weather-wise for those of us on the "wet" side of Washington state.
Debbie - have a great time at your mom's this weekend. I'm so glad she's not far away and you can spend time with her. Good for both of you.
Kylia - crossing fingers your son in law will be a great addition to the business. Will he be a mechanic? Helping with sales/counter stuff?
Heather - your comment about teenage Edie and Bea spending time with you and John got me thinking about my relationship with my grandparents during my teenage years. I know I didn't spend a lot of time with them - so many school things to do with my friends - but they were always welcoming and listened to my problems. I was so grateful I had them. I'll bet your grands will be the same way.
I was just thinking that even though I dread potential upcoming snow/cold weather, in just a few months I'll be germinating tomato seeds. The nasty weather won't last forever (I hope!!) January really did speed by.
In my diabetes prevention class, we have to track (and report) exercise minutes. Can be moderately fast walking, weights, swimming, etc. with the goal of 150 minutes per week. Since I log it anyhow, I'm going to start noting it on my weekly check-in comments. I put house-walking in that category since I go at a good clip and carry weights.
I slept great last night on the side of the bed with the "new" mattress. Charlie is planning to stop by on Sunday and turn the old one. Hope it helps. I may end up going back to the mattress place and getting a new twin XL - the firmest they make. The ones I bought 2 1/2 years ago were moderately firm. My mattresses always seem to sag at my hips as time goes by. DH's sagged in chest area.
OK, make it a great weekend, ladies. Stay safe out there.

How perfect is that? Yes - that's exactly how this feels.
Sue - Happy Birthday!
Regarding January goals - my goals were:
✅Stay in my maintenance range - 155-160 - Yep, I'm 157.9 this morning, which is higher than Jan. 1, but still well within range.
✅Get healthier - Yes, have started a regular exercise habit very successfully. On the wellness side of things - my thyroid levels are being treated by an increase in my medication, and I have gotten so close to normality regarding the Crohn's disease - I'm having about one bad gut day every week or ten days. So much better than last year at this same time.
✅Stay in budget - For the month, no, but for the year, yes, as we paid off my car and are back to debt-free. I'm calling that a win! It always feels like a weight lifted.
February goals are quite similar :
✅Stay in my maintenance range - 155-160
✅Stay on the healthy track
✅Stay in budget
Onward and upward, kids, let's go see what the day holds in store!
Love y'all,

With snow in the forecast this weekend I'd been stressed about whether I could go for grocery pickup on Sunday morning and I got a great brainstorm and placed my order midday yesterday and picked it up at 12:30. Yes, I prefer going at 8AM Sunday when there's no traffic but I've done so many errands lately that I know that I can go to town during business hours. Annie and I enjoyed our trip to town to pick up a book at the library, mail a book at the post office, and get groceries.
When I put the groceries away, I noticed that there were only two containers of chocolate ice cream--I'd ordered three to take advantage of two dollars off if you buy three. I looked at my receipt to see if I'd been charged for two or three and found out that I hadn't be charged for any ice cream. My first thought was that I'd lucked out and then I knew I had to call and tell them that I got free ice cream. When I called, the pick up woman said she remembered that they only had two of what I wanted and had added them to the charge, but since I didn't get charged, I should take it as a blessing and have a great weekend.
On the way home from town I noticed how many cars were so dirty that you couldn't read the back license plate. I felt very grateful that I had had the courage to go through the car wash so my car didn't look like the others. I was also grateful that Jake hadn't opted for handicapped or personalized license plates that would have been one more hurdle to jump on this journey.
Result of my mammogram was all normal, come back next year. I think the big reason that a mammogram is so uncomfortable is to distract you from the fact that it is searching for a potential problem. You get so focused on the comfort level that you forget what it's for.
Sue, Happy Birthday.
Kylia, I hope your new employee turn out great.
got more than 10,000 steps every day in January. Average was over 13,000.

Barbie ... thank you for the new month! And so glad to hear that your mammogram was normal.
Carla ... very sorry for your family's loss ...
Sue ... Happy Birthday! Hope all your Birthday wishes come true!
Ginny ... ditto Lisa ... "fabric of our lives" is a perfect description of this group. I reference everyone on her almost weekly (if not daily).
Debbie ... I am saddened by the days of your life. I know that I could not and would not tolerate the behavior that you accept on a regular basis. You are worthy of so much more and I pray that you will recognize your value and demand more. Hugs.
Machka ... great start to your yearly goals!
Well, I had my surgery ... a wire localized (that part was not under anesthesia btw ) excisional biopsy of my one breast (anesthesia for that part). Everything went very well and today I wouldn't know I had surgery except for the pink post-surgery hospital bra stuffed with gauze. I have never needed a padded bra. No pain or problems with the site. The sinus/cold thing was nearly non-existent yesterday. No one seemed concerned about it. Today I'm back to post-nasal drip and a sinus headache. Go figure. A one-day pause. Thank you for the good thoughts.
January Goals: I just stayed the same in January ... "entitlement eating" and allowing stress to affect me did that. February Goals: After my post surgery one week "lay low" instructions, it's my plan to get back on the treadmill and work at more healthy food choices.

Let’s table this!
Enjoy your day!

After the soup kitchen prebowled. I’m feeling like I should just quit. Thing is...I’m not a quitter. Hopefully, just taking a break when we go to FL will help. Who knows? Maybe I’m just getting burned out. On the bright side, tho (if you want to call this a bright spot) I was going to have an apple fritter I got from the soup kitchen to soothe myself. Instead I admit that I did have a 3 Musketeers fun size bar and some marshmallows (40 cal).
Barbara and Mo – there’s an unspoken pact between criminals. You can do the most heinous crime and they don’t blink. But touch a child. You can count your minutes on this earth. Wouldn’t surprise me if the criminals took care of that guy who threw the baby down the stairs.
Mo – if I ever did your job, the tears would flow and flow and flow. How strong you are!
Kylia – happy belated birthday to your husband
Carla – so sorry for your loss
Heather – you have done so much in your life and overcome so much
Quite a few years ago Vince got a mattress topper. Now it’s depressed where we sleep. Not sure why he hasn’t gotten a new one. See, he got it for his back, I don’t have a problem.
Plan to go to WalMart tomorrow after exercising at home and taking my walk. Need to get things to make meals for when we get back from FL.
Lisa – good for you breaking your record! That’s awesome
Rebecca – when I went to my doc last time, he had this “check list” of all the tests I should have (mammo, DEXA, etc) and shots to be sure I was up to date (I needed my tetnus). But I do still keep my own schedule. I use Google Calendar and just make a note “call for xxxx appt”. Then I just save it yearly
barbie – thanks for keeping us going with all you’re going thru. Think of you often. How wonderful that lady let you keep the ice cream. I’m sure they appreciate customers who are honest and go out of their way for them.
Sue – happy birthday! Is it Feb. 1 or Jan 31?
Off to get dinner ready to microwave then go for my walk

Barbie ~ Thanks so much for another new month!
Sue ~ Very Happy Birthday to You!
Kylia ~ Prayers that your BnL will be a true asset to the business and give you some relief.
Lisa ~ I did find you Video on Youtube and it was interesting. But, I think there must be one with Egg in it but it kept going past that.
At the moment my depression continues and my primary care dr. is reluctant to prescribe new meds. The meds she has prescribed in the past make me very agitated and grind my teeth non-stop so I just can't take them.
On a positive note, my house walking is paying off and I have lost at least two lbs in the last couple of weeks.
Carol in GA9 -
Carol - Thanks for visiting my site! And well done on the two pound loss! I was working through my chair exercise this morning and whining to myself about HAVING to work out in a chair instead of doing yoga and feeling very old. Then I used KJ's "flip it" advice and I realized that the vertigo forced me into the chair, but I've made that a place where I can exercise. You're not letting the weather or anything else stop you, and doing the house walking! You may not lose two pounds every week, but you WILL feel better - I do, just from 10 to 15 minutes each day. Pleased for you.
Allie - SO well done on the weight loss. I know it's more than 40 pounds now, so pleased for you.
Machka - That colored image is a huge leap forward for you from the work you were doing with the patterns. It's beautiful.
Beth - Staying the same is FAR better than gaining. Just a deep breath before you bail into the second week of February with all four feet. Punxsutawney Phil can kiss my left foot--he has a 35% accuracy rate. Egg said it was going to be a bad winter, putting on that incredibly fluffy coat, and has been right so far. She's not losing any of it yet, even though it's supposed to be in the 60s today and the 70s tomorrow. I think we've still got a ways to go... 😑 or at least my prognosticating cat thinks so. 🐈⬛😂🐈⬛ Believe who you will - the rodent or the feline...
Back to my doings... love y'all!
