TRACEY ~ You, your family, and friends all looks so happy at the craft table! And, all seem to be having fun doing their various projects.

MACHKA ~ All the mac and cheese recipes look about the way we in the South make it. My mom's looked a lot different than the boxed kind I have always bought. Hers had big hunks of cheddar in the midst of the mac and a white sauce.

LISA ~ Egg looks very fat and content on your purse.

MO ~ We all enjoy reading your posts! You have a lot to say and have very good insight!

It snowed on the island last night.💖👍🏼 Not a lot maybe an inch, just enough to blanket everything in white. Husband had a dentist appointment at 9 am so hopefully his drive is uneventful.
Everyone have a nice day. We were supposed to get Papa Murphy's take and bake pizza today, but don't know if that's still happening or not. The nice thing about putting a menu up is everything is interchangeable. But my brain can only think of a slice of pizza now.😳😂

Debbie, you must take it up and spell out what he needs to share in the workload with DH. Since DS is moving to your MIL's house, will he also take over the dog duties? I have to put DH in his place, too, but he never admits he was wrong. He acknowledges that he has trouble with that because he feels right. I get so frustrated sometimes. Reading your post, I was frustrated that your DH didn't care for the dog.

Michelle, I wish I was in Florida again; sometimes, one week is not enough. We have so many NATs lately that it isn't funny (NAT- Non-accidental trauma). The worst one happened a few years back when a 6-week-old had a black eye, bruised ribs, and fractured skull. The mom said she heard a meow on the monitor, so the cat must have beaten her baby. I told my co-workers that if cats were going around beating up on people like that, I would stay inside. Shame on them for blaming the cat. The police didn't buy it, and they were arrested and the baby had an alias name so she could be safe. I hate when the system fails and continues to put the children in danger by sending them home. Then you find out later they died from continuous malnutrition, being abused to death, or being left in a car. It is terrible.

    Sincerely,
    Mo in Mississippi

I know I have to "put on my big girl panties" and sit him down and really talk to him about a lot of things.
Yes, son will take care of the dog when he moves in. He did mention that he plans on keeping the dog down stairs where he is putting his computer at least to start, because his girlfriend is bringing her cats when she moves in. Kobe(the dog) is ok with the cats but only when on his leash and never in HIS house.
I too get frustrated with dh about the dog. One great thing about taking care of the dog is he and I both get a lot of extra steps in. He has never been walked this much before. When MIL walked him it was just short walks then when she couldn't take him she would allow me to walk him at all some days and other days I could walk him but only for very short walks. Also, I would much rather take care of the dog than go see my MIL.

I have never understood how anyone could hurt a baby/child but we have seen it when we were foster parents. We had one 8month old that came to us after his , I believe 3rd or maybe 4th(this was 25 yrs ago) skull fracture. The mom said he rolled off the bed. Or the ones that came to us addicted and having withdrawls. One was given the choice to either go into rehab with the baby or go to jail. Of course she went to rehab. A few months later we ran into the family that were his new foster family. The mom was in jail again. They did not bring him back to us but put him in a new home. We wanted to adopt one baby girl- they told us we were on the "wrong list". We stopped being foster parents when they told me I could not be a licensed daycare provider and a foster parent through the state. I had to choose.
Daycare has been my full time job. There was no way I could give that up and hope that they would actually call us with a placement. The social workers had their favorite families and they got most of the calls. Gave up foster care after that.

    Wimped out on coffee with D this morning, too danged cold. It might take more than pulling up my big girl panties to get me out to line dancing tonight ;{
Kylia, courragia! Getting nicotine-free is the most important thing you can do for your health. It’s not surprising to put on a few pounds as the nicotine clears from your system, releasing more oxygen to metabolize more calories from the food you eat. It, and you will settle in. Never ever ever give up!!!
Thanks Sharon (Losingweightforgood2019)! Hope you have a good day too!
Thanks Terri! Alas I have so many reminders on my phone, it’s become easy to ignore them… Will try to link with something I do every day…
Mo congratulations for taking off those five pounds! I’m sure your Baby Suko is much cuter than baby Kong…
Tracey love the crafting pic. Does Michaela feel all grown up being allowed to craft with the adults?
Sue wrong permit? [sigh]. Heigh ho, enjoy your sleigh ride!
Thanks Machka that recipe sounds much like how I make mac’n’cheese, except I don’t use nutmeg or heat the milk separately, just add after making the roux, then gradually melt the (Tillamook Rebecca! Extra sharp) cheddar. Likewise use Tillamook in my (now I know it’s Canadian-style) grilled cheese ;) You have a lovely smile and I really enjoy your dry wit.
    Heather I too love to laugh, and frequently find things hilarious that mystify those around me. Yes, I struggle with slow talkers. BUT I’m putting real effort into listening to Joe, giving him time to gather his thoughts, and not finish his sentences for him. Rough but rewarding ;}
Lisa, when we visited family in St. Louis, all would gather around the kitchen table, tell stories and laugh. Likewise when we had company for dinner. BUT normal dinner table conversation was Papa stirring Mama up so she’d “go up like a rocket.” Their dynamic, not mine. Joe does make me laugh, not as much as the dogs do, but some. Joe does NOT tell stories at the table on those rare occasions that we eat at the same time. He’s of the “finish first and leave” school.
Carol the best part of the mac’n’cheese imho, are the big hunks of browned/melted cheese on top. Rats, now I’m hungry!
Margaret one of the best things about our house in San Leandro, was that it backed up to an elementary school’s playing field. All summer long we’d hear distant children’s laughter. Delightful.
Sue “laughter yoga” sounds therapeutic ;)

Day 4 progress, more purging, a little filing, worktable and desk unchanged, but no worse ;} .

    Good morning ladies!

News on X - feel free to skip if you're OD'ed on the news. Some hanky-panky is being exposed.
I've been down the D.O.G.E. rabbit hole on X. A lot is coming out about apparent corruption in some of the US aid agencies which appears to be leading to kickbacks to politicians on both sides of the aisle. In many cases, it's a complicated trail and there are researcher/posters on X (not government affiliated) who are quite skilled at linking all of this together. I am fascinated by research and how this stuff is coming to light. Before Elon Musk bought Twitter, a lot of this would have been censored. Bottom line - some of these politicians are going to have a lot of 'splainin' to do. :p After avoiding the news for the past few years, this is kind of a buffet for the investigative journalist in me, because people now have the means to go into detail. And provide facts, not opinions.

    Regarding X
I would take what is said on X with extreme skepticism. It is a social media platform, not news, so the claims made are not vetted adequately. People can claim to have done "research," but who knows. X has been notorious for blocking/not promoting ideas which do not align with Musk's point of view, so it has become very much an echo chamber. I personally think Musk is an extremely dangerous person. Unelected, unconfirmed, but taking all power.

Is there fat in our government operations? Certainly. Things do need to be cleaned up. But I do not think a burn it all to the ground approach is healthy for our democracy. (I admit to taking a bit of joy at thinking of the Department of Ed being shut down since they cause my industry never ending misery, but . . . on the other hand, if it is shut down, I am very thankful that my child will have already graduated from high school.)

Anyway, We just need to be careful what we believe from people, especially, who have an agenda which hasn't been clearly articulated, with power that, from my perspective, is being usurped.

We have snow in the forecast for tonight. Here's hoping. We lost power unexpectedly this morning at 5:00 a.m. for about four hours. It got really cold!

    Take care everyone.

    hi gals,
in a spoiler or not we are supposed to steer away from politics here. I am in agreement with some of what has been said, not enough knowledge on some to have an opinion. But overall I care so much about our "tribe" I would hate to have any of us pushed away by the "spoiler politics"

Supposed to be in the 70’s today. I bet this means that people will be getting the flu and stuff.

Rebecca – can you use pictures from cards other than Christmas cards?

Flea – don’t worry about the misunderstanding. We all do it. I tell you, I have these friends who are trans. They are the most wonderful people on the face of this earth. I’m so blessed to have them as friends.

Just found out thru Facebook that one of the ladies at the condo is having hip replacement surgery. She’s a real nice lady but she is 90 years old. At that age to go thru major surgery…. Well, she’s a fighter so we shall see…. I just hope for the best. Going to take a walk in a few and while I’m on my walk I may call this one gal at the condo who is somewhat close to this lady (they both live in Ohio) and see if she knows anything more. Update: called and had to leave a message.

M – I’m not a big pasta eater and I can’t remember the last time I had a hamburger! I’d rather order a larger meal and take ½ of it home with me

Going to Jess’ this weekend to see Dream Theatre in concert. Should be interesting. Anyway, last time we were there I made these cake batter cookies and Colby really liked them so I made some for him and I’ll give some to one of the mgrs. At BK for her sons. They are so cute and always give me a hug when they come

    kylia – happy birthday!

Vicki – impressive weight loss! How long did it take you? Did you do anything special?

Tomorrow is Bryan’s birthday, but with the time change they might celebrate it today. I sent him an email just wishing him a happy birthday. I realized I haven’t seen him in over 10 years. Maybe some day he’ll know how much I do love him

    Mo – 5 more pounds...that’s awesome

Took my walk, cut the cats nails and then quickly-rinsed my car, just to get the dirt and stuff off. I didn’t even wash the top. At least now it looks decent – sort of

Sue – never heard of “laughter yoga” but sounds really cool. Would love to try it

Barbara – who is the musician? Is that a type of synthesizer?

Ceramics tonight. Trying to get the Murphy’s app. See, when I joined, I accidentally used the wrong cell #. Changed it today and was told that I’d get an email/text but I haven’t, it just says that it’s pending. So I’ll probably give them a call tomorrow after exercise and some shopping.

Have y’all missed me? The septic tank people were out for a routine maintenance last Thursday and cut our internet cable. It was finally repaired today. I was so behind. I skimmed a little but am somewhat caught up.

We did end up having to close our checking account. The second fraud activity was more subtle. They deposited 12 cents then debited 5, then debited the other 7. As far as our balance it was a wash, but they were getting ready. They thought we wouldn’t notice, I guess. It was most unfortunate that this happened on the same day our internet cable was cut. I will spend all day tomorrow online with accounts trying to get it all straightened out. Such a hassle!

Machka - I see what you mean about the grilled cheese.
Those Mac and cheese recipes look good, my favourite though will always be KD.

Heather - I love laughing too. DH and I share laughs a lot.
Quick wit, he is full of it. Sometimes I’m a bit slower though.

Lisa - a full table is one of my greatest pleasures. I wish we could do a lot more of it.
Egg sure enjoys being comfy in your work. 🙂
Thank you, I hope they all come together to care for me in my old age. They are a very special group of young ladies. Lauryn’s BFF posted on her wall yesterday announcing they have been friends for 24 years. In my head they’re still teens working through life.
It also amazes me that they were 12 and taking public transit all over the city to get to school. Now you can’t trust that they are safe anywhere on it.

Barbie - I am not a fan of stand up comedy either, but I love shows with humour.

Lanette - I was “newsed” out last night I heard it all day at work at top volume as the residents were glued to it. I got home and lasted about 5 minutes of Rodger watching it before I told him I didn’t care what he put on but I couldn’t listen to another minute of it.
The world is angry and it’s hard to find any station that just reports the facts and lets us form our own opinions. Everyone has to tell us what to think these days.

Barbara - Michaela enjoys the crafting, but I don’t think she enjoys the loud boisterous gatherings. I noticed at Rodger’s birthday party she was very quiet. She was when sitting with us on Saturday as well. I think it’s a little over stimulating to her.

Kim - I agree one of the things I absolutely love about this group is we can shut the world off for a bit.

Kay - what a mess it is straightening everything out. I don’t know why all of these hackers and scammers can’t use their skills for the good.

For those of you that have been following along with Kaitlyn and Brodey’s GoFundMe.

My MIL is still in the hospital as far as we know. It seems that my SIL, nieces and nephew can’t pick up a phone, text, or answer a message to let us know what’s going on. Kaitlyn tried to call the hospital tonight but unlike the other night the nurse actually wouldn’t give any information because none of us are on the contact list. My BFF is going to go see her tomorrow so we can ask her to put us on the list so we can call and get updates.
I have never seen a family like this. We moved out here and it’s as if we aren’t even part of the family anymore. It’s maddening.

    Machka's favourite foods (mains) ...

Mexican and Indian (mild to medium hot) are about tie for top place.

Pasta of all sorts. I love the cream sauces but my digestive system does not. So pesto is my second favourite and better than the cream sauces. Tomato based sauces aren't too bad. Veggies with the pasta are very good but no seafood or mushrooms, and very little meat.

Then things like pizza and hamburgers (but not fast food hamburgers). And preferably veggie burgers.

That's pretty much what we eat. :)
