Had good visit with brother today. He continues to go further down the memory loss road. His walking is increasing worse. His muscle weakness is hitting his arms. He has started using his left hand to eat his cereal because the spoon is too heavy for the right. His flashes of humor still comes out but his frustration is evident. It took a lesson from the aid story Tracey shared with us. He kept saying "I'm crazy" in such a desolate voice. All I could say is "You're not crazy, you are Jimmy and we love you." and remind him that he has a sick brain. I am concerned about SIL. When they changed medication last month it helped with voices but he got the insomnia side effect. Today Doctor added a mild sleeping pill (low dosage). For one thing, brother is obviously exhausted (even though he says he doesn't need much sleep). SIL is exhausted-she wakes up when he does. She is afraid he will try to exit house. I need to research lock alternatives for doors. He also will fix sandwiches, reorganize the bathroom and other random things. He says he has always kept things very tidy-we would disagree with that! We just need to cherish our time with him
Allie-tough decision with Alfie. It may work best. And Siri is there with you.
Kylia-home before the bad stuff. Have a meeting in Columbus in morning (9:30). If forecast is correct roads should be good by then. If we are still iced I will attend via teams.
Have a friend's wedding to go to tomorrow. Low key event-not the first for bride or groom. Gathering at a Golf club near my house at 6:30 and dinner after. I am happy for her. She has patiently waited for a new partner.
Tired-heading off to bed.
Take care all,

Did HIIT today. Afterwards, went to Aldi then home and made brownies for us to take to FL. Last time I made them I followed the directions and I thought they were on the thick side so this time I made them in a much larger pan and only baked them for ½ of the time.
Drkatie – wb. So glad they fixed the cable. Glad you caught those debits/credits. Sorry you have to go thru this, but glad you caught it before it got much worse
I am constantly amazed at how many times something happens that triggers thoughts of everyone on here. Each time I use the access flosser I think of katla (hope she’s OK and her husband). I also think of her each time I do yoga. I think of Heather whenever I have shirataki noodles. I think of pip when I see all our camping gear that we’ll never use (wish she were here so I could sell some of it to her). Lots of other things. Each time we go thru Georgia, I think of Carol and everyone else from there. Wonder how Lenora is. Carol – are you still in touch with her? So many, many other times I come across something that reminds me of you all. Too numerous to mention
Mo – you were and are so pretty. And Baby Suko is nothing to sneeze at, either.
Helped Vince take the litter box outside since he wants to clean it real good He just now needed me to help him put the litter in the box. Seems the cats were in the box even without any litter. As a matter of fact, one of the cats peed.
I don’t use X mainly because I can’t be bothered. On the way to ceramics stopped at Murphy’s and gas was $2.55. On the way home (3 hours later) gas was up to $2.84! In 3 hours!
The other day I cleaned out a section under Vince’s sink. Got rid of some stuff that he probably didn’t even know was there! Shaving cream – he doesn’t use shaving cream. Small bottles of lotion. I put them in my gym bag to use after swimming or taking a shower. Small bottles of mouth rinse. I’ll probably just put it in the bottle with the rinse that I use. Honestly!
M – congrats on the weight loss
Jess is on her way to an interview in Wake Forest. I believe she also has another one at duke. We shall see what happens. I think she wants to stay in this area partly because job opportunities for Colby are better in the research triangle area. Update: she called to say she thought it went well
Lisa – so so happy you found your patches. I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to find something
beth – a while ago we were playing Rummikub at my house. I put out mixed nuts. Only about 3 nuts were eaten. Guess who is finishing the rest of the container?
Saw this place that said “jewelry and pawn”. What a weird combination. So I took some jewelry I had that I don’t wear. They only take gold and silver so I sold them a pair of gold earrings I never wear. On the bad side, tho, I found quite a few exercise DVD’s. But in the end, I still came out ahead.
Last Wed. bowling until the end of March. Need to bring cheese & crackers to bowling Mon. Need to get my oil changed, buy tires (man are they expensive!) then want to go to WalMart.
Lisa – hugs and more hugs and more hugs. I’d be crying, too
Allie – I know you’ll do what’s right for everyone regarding Alfi. Like Ginny said, you have Siri
Ginny – have a good time at the wedding.
Took a high chair that I bought thinking that PJ might come down here (why did I kid myself?). Since it was never used, I thought I’d take it back to the store where I got it (Once Upon a Child). Honestly, I was surprised how little they gave me for it. I was expecting at least $10 since I paid $35. I only got $6.50. But at least it isn’t in the house any more.

Lisa, I’m so sorry you are going through such a hassle with your knee pain. I feel for you. Knee pain is no joke.
Heather and other Clutterbug fans and those who watch High Potential: did you see this week’s episode? Morgan referenced the 4 organizing styles at a suspect’s house. The suspect was a butterfly. She said she was a ladybug and Adam is a cricket.
I got all of my autopay accounts changed over to the new account as well as my Teacher Retirement check. That one required a call to TRS because my password didn’t work then they told me the answers to my security questions didn’t match. Like I told the lady at TRS, I don’t know why. Unless I spelled my 3rd grade teacher’s name wrong, I am clueless. She deleted the whole account for me and I started over by re-registering. Social Security is going to be a problem. The earliest they would let me choose was our April deposits. That means Feb and March will go into the old account, which is where my Feb TRS payment is also stuck. So back to the bank tomorrow. I am so grateful that this is just a bump in the road and will eventually work itself out. So many are dealing with serious health problems or worse.
Today my daughter was in a 7-car accident on the way home from work. Luckily, nobody was seriously injured. It was really 3 separate accidents, all at the same time. She was in the middle set. The first set of cars wrecked in front of her, she was able to get stopped and avoided hitting the car in front of her, but the car behind her hit her. Then there was another collision directly behind them. Her car is not that bad. It’ll need a little body work on the rear. It did break the hair clip she was wearing, but otherwise she’s fine.9 -
Mo - love the pictures.
I think the problem is the scammers and hackers can’t make the kind of money in a legitimate job that they make with their schemes.
I looked up how far it is to my MIL’s it is 3334 kms = 2071 miles. To fly would cost us over $1000. Plus car rental and they all think because we live in AB we’re rich so expect us to buy everything when we’re there. This is so far from the truth, we don’t go often.
Michaela is a bit shy, she is very much like our youngest, her Aunt.
We have free Healthcare here in Canada. It’s a mess right now because of Doctor shortages, but I think that’s a global issue.
Ginny - I hope you have a nice lunch and your brother’s appointment goes well.
Lisa - I find once I organize a space I have trouble finding something because the day that I organized made sense where I put it, but the day I need it I think I lost my marbles the previous day.
I hope that the VA and that doctor get with the program. It’s awful being in pain. Sorry you’re having to fight yet again to have your needs met.
Beth - those wouldn’t be my people either. I would want the snacks and feel guilty if they weren’t sharing them.
Our rec staff have manicure days for the residents. They paint nails for a long time that day.
Allie - maybe you could have Alfie more than when they go on vacation. I think your heart is in the right place, but you’ll miss him. Has his barking during tv shows settled? If not, maybe you like the breaks.
Kylia - your SIL sure likes to try to mess up your mood.
Mine does the same.
Rebecca - I have friends with sons who are jealous of me because I had daughters. It’s because the son’s wives rule the roost and it’s affected their relationship with the grands and sons. I hear your frustration with your DIL from time to time. Hugs to you.
I loved my in-laws immediately and made sure we were fair in visits to both families. Even if I go home alone, I go and stay there for a few days.
When my FIL passed I walked in the house and my MIL stood up out of her chair and said, “there’s my girl”. I am furious at my SIL though.
Debbie - I’m glad you’re getting up to see your Mom, will the water recede by then?
Ginny - I’m sorry your brother and SIL are going through this. Do they have anyone that could spend some time so she can get a solid sleep? It’s a tough disease to deal with.
Has anyone heard from Annie recently?
Kay - I just watched this weeks episode of High Potential and caught that. I thought it was awesome!
Glad your daughter wasn’t injured.
I’m now watching Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage. I love the Georgie character and just want him to succeed.
Rodger’s mom is still in the hospital, his nephew texted us today. Maybe tomorrow. I want to know why they keep keeping her, but we’re not getting that answer.

Good Morning, ladies,
I decided to read all of the posts from February. I missed a lot; the mac and cheese made my mouth water.
Pip, I read that you signed up for another MS fundraiser. How can I support you with your fundraising?
Machka, Your co-workers are correct. You do have a nice smile. Where did you get such a lovely coloring book? I love the lyrics of the Myley Cirus song. The sentiments are so true.
Terri, I love your goals, and you are correct about the importance of learning all you can.
Michelle, do you do your DVDs in Florida?
Kylia, You look beautiful with your daughters; I am glad you had fun.
Tracey, I hate it when relatives think they know what is in one's bank account. I am curious: Why do you believe Rodger doesn't want to work? Is he old enough to retire? Is there any way your nephew can add you to the hospital list? That way, Rodger can call the nurses for an update.
I decided to increase the height of my aerobics steps. My blood sugar dropped, and I had to stop halfway through the workout. I ate a power bar and drank Powerade (a complex carb). Then, I returned to my workout with a lower step. Well, that is something to work toward. I need to work on it a little more. Also, I need to eat more than 573 calories. I will try again in a couple of weeks. I am ready to sleep now.
Have a great morning, everyone.

Lisa - so sorry to hear about the knee runaround mess. Love your new purse creation. Have you had any interest in the ones you've posted for sale?
Allie - is Dan all situated now in his new place? It's great Alfie has an alternate "home" with Tom and Elena, makes it handy for both of you. Hope everyone is getting over the crud at Tracy's house. Sorry to hear you are still under the weather!
Kay - what a week for you. Glad your internet is working again and you got the banking straightened out. What an aggravation and scary this could even happen. Good job noticing that funny business taking place in your account.
Tracey - when my mom was in the nursing home, it was so neat to see she'd been given a manicure and pretty pink nail polish. Crossing fingers all goes well with the Baby Kropla plan! So happy to hear it's making great progress! I hope you can get on the contact list for your MIL.
I had a nice phone conversation/catch up with my sis in Indiana yesterday . My BIL had a knee replacement in December that turned out to be a medical mess. Long story so I'll put it in a spoiler. He'd had a stent put in over a year ago, so was on a type of blood thinner and then last year also developed a blood clot so was on some medication for that if I got the story straight. Well in order for the knee replacement to take place, he needed to be eased off one of them for a certain period of time. And prior to the actual operation, which was supposed to be done without general anesthesia, the anesthesiologist took at look at what he'd been on, said he'd need general after all because of threat of blood clot. A couple days after he was home from the operation, his leg swelled and something wasn't right so sis rushed him to the ER. The ER doc took a look at the records, what all blood thinners and meds he'd been on, and she said the med they left him on was the wrong one. So he got a blood clot anyhow. My sis said this was so maddening, the pre-op NP somehow didn't catch the meds problem, so the surgeon wasn't aware and the whole mess just rolled downhill from there. BIL has been getting a lot of PT, is able to walk but is in a lot of pain still. He went to see a hematologist last week who told him nothing could be done and he'd just have to wait out the blood clot to dissolve and take Tylenol for pain - no ibuprofen. He's been parsing out the strong narcotic painkillers he got in the hospital in order to get sleep at night.
Luckily, the folks I know in my area that have had knee replacements haven't had to go through this and their recoveries have been pretty quick, no big complications.
Gift thank-you'sThe other thing sis and I talked about - she asked if I'd ever gotten a thank-you from my nephew and his kids. When she and BIL came to visit me last summer, I gave her a very small gold coin for my great nephew and my grandmother's wedding ring for my great niece. To give them when she next saw them. She said she'd include them in her Christmas package to them, which was fine. I had assumed she sent them off like she said she would. She did, and she said great nephew was thrilled - he's a coin collector. So was great niece with the ring, tho she's only 11 so nephew put it away for when she's older.
Anyhow, she was ticked off that I'd never heard a word of thanks from them. I told her no worries, it was payback for all the times I forgot to thank my parents for sending me a Christmas check until they asked if I'd received it.People get busy, I know, especially kids and folks who are working and raising a family with a lot of things on their plate.
I told her being thanked for gifts is important, especially the older we get. She wholeheartedly agreed.
I wonder if I'll at least get a "thank you" email one of these days?
Hey you knitters, here's a project for ya. Probably will take a couple days to whip up.
I was poking around the IRS website a couple days ago, I see there's entirely free tax prep software there for folks with simple returns. I haven't had a chance to check it out thoroughly, tho it appears that If a person is just getting social security and/or a pension and has a little interest to report, it might be pretty slick. I used Tax act last year and found what looked like a bug, plus the "free" version actually did cost money if a person wanted to add on some features, which they pushed heavily. Not a lot, but still.
Black ice here, everything slippery, but the sky is clear right now so things should be fine once the sun comes up. The days are getting longer, thank goodness.
Make it a super day!

Did the last of my transfers from my tablet to my laptop. I think I will write the last few paragraphs directly onto the laptop. Of course, the laptop froze on me, so I had to reboot it. (Hate that thing) I did a check for bugs etc, but nothing was found. Now the big, slow, edit.
Felt reasonably pleased with myself. I washed my hair and put my face on, with the idea of venturing out. Then, inspired by Lisa, I thought I would practice making a very short video of myself talking to camera. I didn't have a stand, or anywhere to prop it, so it was very wobbly!I have not been happy with my video editing app, too complicated, so I looked for a very simple free one to start with. Downloaded that, and did a bit of cutting and then explored adding text. Success! I sent it to two friends, who hadn't got a clue what I was doing, even after I explained it.
I will put something up on Instagram before long, as I don't think my ancient phone can handle longer videos.
Anyway, I had fun.Always good to learn new things.
After lunch I went out, so as not to waste my face, and called in at the hairdressers to make an appointment. I have a coupon to use before the end of February. Then to the butcher to get beef and pork mince to make meatballs tomorrow. Also found neck fillets of lamb, which have been unavailable for months.
Finished off in the deli, so a nice round trip.
Came back to do the prep for the mushroom risotto for tonight.
Then a nap and a long session of Duolingo.
Nothing much on TV tonight, but I have a recorded episode of Granchester.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -
@Lanette, I love the Dark Knit! I showed it to my DH and he laughed. Nice one!
@Nebulizers those of you who use these, do they make you tired, shaky, or peppy? Do they reduce appetite? Just some things I’m seeing right now and am wondering if it is normal or something else.
@Doctors, I found a new doctor yesterday and they already called me this morning to set up an appointment. Will need to talk to DH to see when he would want to go.
Not much else. Just bumming because of my errant kids. Nothing I can do, Just down b/c of their actions,
Thought for today:
My printer’s name is Bob Marley. Because its always jamming!
Love you all!

Kay ... so glad to hear that your daughter wasn't injured in the car accident! Was weather a factor?
Lanette ... I am a Mac fan. My last computer was a MacBook Pro ... an old one of my son's actually ... but I didn't need all the power/memory/etc. that it provided. So the new computer is a MacBook Air. The set up was a piece of cake and the transfer from one computer to the other went seamlessly.
Rita ... I love the "Thought for Todays" that you've been sharing! These are "dad" jokes at their best! Sorry your kids are causing you worry. The mom DNA never deactivates I'm afraid.
Finished out taxes today ... that sounds like such an accomplishment ... but in reality, there really isn't much to our taxes anymore. I think it took 20 minutes with the Turbo Tax software and that's mostly because I double check their forms. We don't owe anything and we're not getting much back ... which is fine by me.
We have ice here today and it is slick outside. I have to go to the dentist in an hour and I'm hoping the roads and sidewalks are better off the hill than they are in my driveway! I've put my yak trax on an old pair of boots and will take a different pair of shoes into the dentist's office. My appointment was originally scheduled to be a cleaning, but my crown broke!! Seriously, I thought the whole purpose of crowns was to eliminate having to deal with breaking teeth. One side of the crown cracked off. This will be an expensive visit I'm afraid.

Beth ~ Have a safe trip to the dentist! I have a dental appt. coming up soon and I am dreading it.
Lisa ~ Your new handbag is very pretty and shows a lot of work.
Lanette ~ Sorry about your BnL's knee problems. When I had my first knee replacement it went great. But the second one I had in July was totally different. I developed lymphedema in the calf of that leg and it finally seems to be gone after all the house walking I have been doing.

Yep. "a son is your son till he marries a wife, but your daughter is your daughter for the rest of your life". It really is a thing!🙄
I think what bothers us most sometimes which is petty really, is that we raised him to be a neater person. We always taught him to keep his room clean, clothes go here, toys picked up nightly etc. And he just doesn't do any of that mindset with his kids. His wife is messy, and so is he, why should the kids clean up? Now nothing is unsanitary, mind you. And nightly the rhoomba goes around and vacuums. They clean up their kitchen nightly, so I will give them points for that. But the amount of stuff in general is overwhelming to me. Now I know most of where this feeling is coming from is the fact that I have embraced minimalism and that mindset. So though I try to not impart my judgements of people using that particular system of organizing, I do sense a general frustration with my son. A feeling of overall tiredness. Like he has just thrown in the towel. I don't know, but I think that getting rid of half of his stuff would give him more time for more joy in his life. He spends a lot of time trying to get ahead with piles of stuff.

I am a bee. I like to see everyday items, and I like organized systems. I put stuff away. I do pile stuff on my desk periodically and then deal with it every week or so.

Didn’t make it to line dancing Tuesday night. Started swallowing the income tax frog yesterday morning. Use TurboTax as it keeps history and assures me I’ve not missed any deductions, but alas, it seems to be getting kludgier to negotiate. Have to answer the same irrelevant questions to manually enter 1099-Rs from my institutions, none of which are importable. Foo. Almost a relief to stop, feed the dogs and prep for BB&B.
Gulped down another frogbite this morning, finished entering income, and first two (easy) deductions. Couldn’t import tax forms from my (US) bank as not available until Feb 22, sheesh. Also had to calculate my own RMD as not shown on Thrivent’s website and rep hasn’t answered email . . . yet.
On a less grumpy note, my organizing goodies (new aqua hanging folders, plenty of clear tabs) arrived from Amazon so will progress on worktable excavations with a modicum of joy. . . Tomorrow is Bryan’s birthday, but with the time change they might celebrate it today. I sent him an email just wishing him a happy birthday. I realized I haven’t seen him in over 10 years. Maybe some day he’ll know how much I do love him …

Lanette - Add me to the approval of the Dark Knit! 😂 And yep, got my vac from Walmart, and have been able to just wipe or smack the dust out of the filters, so I still have the extras they sent. And no, not a whisper of interest in the purses I make. I was able to get my cost down to $5 a month to keep them posted online, so not breaking the bank. Will be a business expense this year, most likely, even so. Decided not to bother for last year.
Speaking of which, on taxes - my best friend has done my taxes since 40 years now, both federal and state, and I just send my docs straight to her, and watch the pretty minimal refunds show up in my bank account. We do our best to zero out each year, and don't depend on a refund. So far, because of me, she's learned to do Colorado, Illinois, Oregon, North Carolina, and now Arkansas state tax (no state income tax in Nevada and Texas). She doesn't want me to pay her, but I do anyway, just to help repay the years when I couldn't afford to pay her and she did them for free.
Kay - I'm so glad your daughter is OK! That had to be just terrifying. So sorry about the bank issues. Hope you can get it all straightened out without any out-of-pocket. I'm holding the current episodes of Will Trent and High Potential for this evening, relaxing over some knitting. I'm more cricket than anything else - but enjoy visual abundance as long as it's not chaotic.
Carol - Thank you so much.
Beth - Hope the dentist visit isn't as bad as you fear.
Rita - Chiming in on loving the Thought of the Day. I often send them to my daughter.
Thanks, all, for the love on the knee SNAFU - my beloved husband cited my own advice back to me "you had expectations that weren't realistic," and that's just dirty pool! 😐 Of course, he's absolutely right. 👀 I know better. He does not like it when I cry.
About the little crack house that's just in front of ours - it's been boarded up since early January. Found out why:Some may remember we've had issues with all four different sets of sketchy folks who infested it over the last six years.
Well, the older gentleman who I thought owned it stopped up to see me yesterday - it was actually his wife who owned it, and she died in December. I listened to him for almost 45 minutes tell me of her last moments, bless his heart, and hugged him before he left. He loved her an awful lot. We were both in tears by the time he left. Broke my heart.
But at any rate, he knew we wanted to buy the place, and promised me he wouldn't let anyone else live in it. But he also said they hadn't paid taxes for it in two years, that the wife could never get her hands on a clean title to it, and I'd need to talk to the county about when they'd seize it for back taxes or auction it off. He's just letting it go now - won't pay anything more for it.
Wasn't willing to wait to see what the county's going to do, so I called this morning and got an appointment in late February with my lawyer, the one who set up the trust for us, to see what we should do next. He specializes in real property law, which is why we went to him to get the trust set up.
And I just realized that I've become the kind of person who says "I'll talk to my lawyer." 😉😂🐈⬛
Life is weird.
About to head down and get my car washed, I think. The sun's finally come out, and most of the worker bees will be back at work soon.

This is the road on the way to town from my mom's house- It floods often. Thankfully the rain is stopping this evening. We will be driving over there into town early Saturday morning to work at the food program.10 -

I'm getting better at sorting out the inside of places, but the main thing is to get it out of my line of sight!
After doing a lot of Duolingo, I decided to have a little play with a possible cover photo for my book
I found a copyright free picture of the galaxy, and an old Instagram post, and superimposed them. Depending on the book design, I can have it portrait or landscape, whichever fits best, so I did both. Not displeased with half an hour's work.
It will have text and banners all over it, so I have no idea which would suit it best.
I had fun.

I decided to read all of the posts from February. I missed a lot; the mac and cheese made my mouth water.
Pip, I read that you signed up for another MS fundraiser. How can I support you with your fundraising?Machka, Your co-workers are correct.
XO,

Thanks for asking. You can mail me a check, make it to national ms society, not me. Or I can send you a link to donate online with a debit or credit card. I’ll send you a message with the info.
Can you include me in this too? Or simply post the link? I want you to get the credit!

Lisa - that is SSOOO exciting about that little house. Good things come to those who wait, right?
Heather - you are so talented with the graphics for the book cover. Lots of layers to study.
Barbara - what you are encountering with Turbo Tax sounds a little like what I had with Tax Act last year. Their software kept putting some income on the wrong line, even though I input all the correct numbers in the boxes that were on the 1099. I tried to contact them and wasn't able to speak to a human that knew much. I figured it all came out in the wash, made a note on my copy that I have filed here in case I ever get questioned on it. I'd been using it for years and that was the first time I had problem like that. I know other folks who use it and are pleased, and like I said, maybe it's not a big deal. Actually, most people probably don't notice if things aren't on the wrong line. The only reason I caught it is that I always compare the return to the prior year's and this jumped out.
Beth - glad your new computer is up and running. I always though a person had to have an "expert" get them set up. I've learned it's mostly just turn them on and they seem to do the job themselves.
Carol - glad the walking is helping your calf. Were you able to identify any reason why the healing on the knee this time was troublesome?
Debbie - wow, that's some flood. Glad to hear the rain is taming down. Icicles finally started to melt here around 9:30.
Got the results of my heart monitor. From what I can tell, nothing to worry about. This is what was on MyChart. I emailed Dr. Lisa to ask her if I needed any follow up.Ordering Information

Love you all!

Yes, the albuterol in the nebulizer does give me the shakes/jitters a bit. They don't last too long. I haven't noticed reduced appetite though I will keep an eye on it when I do have to use it again. Hopefully not for a long while- The last episode was over 6 weeks of treatments up to 4 times a day.
