I had a nice chat with my sister yesterday evening. I have another queen sized quilt upstairs that she made. It says "to the Gossetts love Pam" on a sewn in label on the right bottom corner. I think what is so amazing is the amount of time she's put into each thing. I have a knitted blanket that my maternal grandmother would knit now and then. It was leftover yarn so multicolored lines of various yarns. I remember her knitting it, and it was so pretty. So what do I get for my wedding present? You guessed it, the blanket. Its still going strong, though some shrinkage here and there, and some of the yarn has those little balls on it. We used it Renaissance camping. But the memory of her knitting it rushes in every time I use it. That's the same with this pillow, as I was visiting many times she would work on it nightly. There are 3 birds on the front. My first thought "us three sisters", but also, " my three boys". So extra special there. 💖.
Its cold (25') but blue skies today. Nice to look at, (from inside sipping coffee). The sun shone in the kitchen this morning, so I glance at the counters shooing crumbs into the sink because my dear husband never bothers. He had steak and eggs this morning, so there was a sprinkling of grease blobs, crumbs, and the sun showed me this.😂😂. So, before even fixing my first cuppa I was wiping down the counters and cook top with a sudsy scrubber sponge.😁👍🏼.
We got the "Oh F#&k I'm Dead" workbook in the mail last week. So husband worked on it first, writing info to do after he passes, where stuff is etc, and I came in after and filled in my specifics. Its definitely thorough, with lots of different segments. The letters of regret, the contact info, and how the funerals should go were all blank, as we both don't want much fanfair. His ashes are going to be sent to the Navy, and my ashes thrown into the sea at a beach of the boys choosing. No big funeral. Its presently locked away and we'll give the middle son a copy of the key. I think I will look at it yearly and make any changes (passwords, acct numbers etc) but generally speaking it was painless.
Well my oven cleaning gal has yet to come. Twice she's bailed. First was being sick, and second was snow. I did mention that the roads were bone dry so if she had to drive out in them in an emergency, there's no problem. She was in an accident on the Deception Pass bridge many years ago and she still has nightmares from it, so there's more to it then snow on the road. I told her my oven isn't going anywhere so when the snow melts give me a call. My (trauma) was cleaning my oven at the other rental and moving the heating element up and hearing the electrical connection pop and spark. Heck my previous oven had a moving element option so you could move it up to clean under! I had figured all ovens did that. Nope! So I told husband I am paying someone to do this! Everyone has their limits. I have a handful of them.
(Not in any order of importance)
    1. Me driving. Ain't happening!
    2. Bats
    3. Spiders hanging above me. Once they are low, or on the floor, they can be flip-flopped.
    4. Cleaning ovens
    5. Bees
    6. Mice or squirrels in walls.
So lots really. I think if I lived in an environment like my eldest sister does, I would be freaking out 24/7. She buys those sticker traps for the furnace room next to the carport, and gets voles, mice etc all the time! She has her large freezer, canning stuff, so she uses that room a lot. Me? I make her go in the room! During the summer as I would sit outside, around her umbrella table with chairs you see lots of black things darting and flying around at dusk. Its all of her bats from her barn. They swoop and then are gone. They do swirl around the carport for a moment. But seeing them outside its not so scary, but in a house, they petrify me!

I keep forgetting - today is exactly one month of exercising every day 10-15 minutes a day. Very happy with that. It's been a long time... but I so badly did not want to break my streak that I did my exercising in the living room while Corey was cooking dinner Wednesday night. Proud of my bad self! 😂

Awesome sauce! You are doing so great! I seem to be averaging 1 to 2 times a week, but since the snow, nothing.🙄
This new quilt has a felt fabric backing so really nice and warm. I just had a grin on my face all day like a happy puppy.
My sister told me the pattern was created by a quilt author/friend and it came with a jelly roll fabrics created by her. So cool.

Worked then got my oil changed, then got the new tires, then went to WalMart. Now home, think I’ll go for my walk in a few

katie – I’m so glad your daughter is OK physically

Warm today. Walked down to the dollar store to get a Get Well card for the lady at the condo. Then stopped at Food Lion since I had $4 off that I needed to use by Feb.21 and we won’t e here then. So I got 3 boxes of cake mix for cookies for Colby for 51 cents

Mo – yes, I do the DVD’s in FL. I can use the Y down there (the condo doesn’t have a fitness center) and I have a portable DVD player. Which reminds me, I need to check their schedule to be sure that I can still use the spin room for exercise. See, it’s away from everyone and I can concentrate on my exercise.

    I think I’m a cricket

Tracey – so sad about Rodger’s mom

Friday here: worked got out early so prebowled. I probably would have been better off had they put me in blind, but at least I didn’t get gutter ball after gutter after gutter. That can be so frustrating. When we go Mon I told my neighbor that I’d bring cheese & crackers if she’ll take home any extra cheese since we’ll be leaving Wed. See, she works catering with the gal who runs the bowling and the gal told S that no one signed up to bring cheese and crackers or fruit. If I know S, she’d bring both. So I offered to bring the cheese. Seems there was a sign-up sheet near the drinks. Well, neither of us goes there so we didn’t even see it

Had BLT, chips and dessert at the soup kitchen. Just had a bit of the tomato

pip – what fine looking t-shirt, jersey and medal. You deserve them. Yea for the jersey’s fitting

Rebecca – that pillow took my breath away. Everything is so so lovely

Washing my coat that I wear to BK. I am hoping that I won’t need it any more. Pretty warm today so hopefully I only need my vest.

Kylia – it’s nice to hear that I’m not the only one who was told not to holy underwear because you never know when you’ll have to go to the hospital...lol. Congrats on still being nicotine free

Vince just ordered his Daytona tickets for NEXT YEAR.

Annie – I certainly hope all is OK by you and you’re just busy

Lanette – what I don’t like is when someone copies the entire post only to answer one little part. But I know also that this isn’t always possible (to just copy the part you are referring to)

Beth – ever since Vince retired, we don’t have dental insurance, either. What a total bummer! It was pretty good when he was working, tho

I’m definitely more of a minimalist. If you leave it to Vince, he’d probably keep everything. Me? If I haven’t used it in a while, I probably don’t need it so it gets donated or given to someone else. Or even sold

Lisa – woo hoo for all your exercise. I usually go to the gym on Wed, do a DVD at home on Sun, but try to take a walk around the block each day. We’re going to Jess’ tomorrow overnight and I’ll probably take her dog for a walk. I bet when he sees me he thinks “not her again, here we go on long walks”...lol

Speaking of walk...off to my walk now.

@Debbie Thanks for the info. I have to use it 4 times a day but no length noted. I understand that if I don’t need it, don’t use it. I’ve been using it 3 times a day since Monday and feel I can breathe better. I’ll switch to twice a day next week then see what happens when I stop.

@Pip Thank you for the link!

Thought for the day: (two today, I’m not sure about either. Enjoy!)

Why did the gardener proceed with caution?

    There was no amateur seed!

Why did the lady push CTRL-ALT-DEL?
She wanted to see the control panel.

Lanette Since you were his spouse you could roll his IRA account into your IRA account. You would have had to make the RMD payments if he was already taking distributions the year he died. It will be your beneficiaries who inherit the IRA account who will have ten years to deplete that account and pay the taxes on what is left. If it is better for your cash flow and tax situation to take it out in ten years that is a different story.

Barbara AHMOD-thanks for the information on Katla. It sounds like she may have passed-wasn't she in nursing facility with her husband?

Margaret - good question. I wondered that too. It's a special pension plan he had when he worked for the college so not a typical IRA. Turns out there are different requirements for pensions connected to state jobs from what I can figure out and the 10-year rule applies for inherited accounts.

Hard to keep up with. It's a small account.

I had a rare burst of energy this morning, as I don't write at the weekend. Tiny bit of kitchen sorting, then I cleaned John's bathroom basin. I do use it too for hand washing, so it didn't feel too wrong. (He usually does it) I have been meaning to have a go at the whole bathroom, but decided not to let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and just do the basin today. The cleaner only does a quick swipe in there, so lime stains do build up. I scrubbed around the edges with an old toothbrush. Much better, in about five minutes. :D
Then I made a lamb, potato, and spinach curry. The whole house is aromatic! A little bit of fenugreek is in there.
In between I was keeping up with my exercises and forcing myself up the stairs with two legs. I've been up and down around 5 or 6 times so far. It's still an effort, but I'm getting there.

Katla was the same age as me, almost exactly. I am 75. So sad.

I've been awake since 4 am, so I will have a nap.

Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Worked today. I think I’m getting faster and more efficient. Well, that happens when you do something over and over again

Lanette – our condo has a rule of only two pets. We bring our 4 cats and there’s never been a problem. I’m sure what they don’t want is someone having 4 barking dogs. But cats don’t make a lot of noise. Besides, it’s not like we’re down there a whole lot

M – glad to hear your husband’s surgery went well

Brabara – oh no, katla! I pray everything’s OK. Hopefully, you’ll hear back from your text. Or at least her family will get back to you). I really hate to say it, but I’ afraid Ginny and Carol are right

Lisa – oh, cheap toys for cats. Twist ties keep them amused for hours and hours

Getting ready to go to Jess’
