GLP1 and food tracking

Hi there! I’ve used MyFitnessPal in the past - with success. But, as I have gotten older (49 and menopausal) I am having trouble losing and keeping weight off. Oh, changing hormones! Anyway, in addition to this platform, I also started the GLP1 medication, Zepbound- 2.5 dose. The food noise is GONE (yay!) and I pretty much have to make myself get to 1,200 calories. But, so far, so good. Anyone else also incorporating a GLP1 and what has your experience been?

Hi. Also 49 (for 2 more short months) here. I started Zep in December. Did my 10th shot yesterday. I’m up to 7.5mg. I had no negative side effects on 2.5 and 5 but am having some intermittent nausea since my first 7.5 last week. Still very tolerable though and yeah, food noise gone. I haven’t obsessed over food ever. I literally can’t remember ever not constantly thinking about food in one context or another.

Hello everyone! I started compounded Semaglutide 6 weeks ago, and I’ve lost 18 lbs so far. No food noise and no side effects so far! I originally started out wanting to lose 100lbs, and now it’s less! So glad I started doing this and only wish I’d started sooner!
I’m still on the .5 mg dose and hoping to stay there at least a few months before titration to the next dose.
Best of luck on your journey! Can’t wait to hear about your progress 😊

I’m 53 years old. Two months ago, I started metformin (from 500mg to 2000mg) and Buproprion (aka Wellbutrin) ( 150mg to 300mg) in those two months I went from 275 lbs. to 242 lbs. on Feb. 22nd. On Feb. 24th my weight loss Doctor at Kaiser permanente is switching my regiment to 2000 mg of metformin and 0.25 mg of Ozempic for the first four weeks, then the next four weeks increasing the Ozempic to 0.5 mg. Four weeks later 1 mg then four weeks later to 2 mg’s of Ozempic. I can’t wait to get down to 190 to 200 pounds. I’m just hoping I’m gonna be able to eat enough protein to keep my muscle mass and not get nauseous with food.

Congrats on losing weight with the guidance of your doctor. I too have diabeties though I'm must taking metformin and glipized. I have found that eating things in portion sizes has kept my blood sugar between 80-100.

Do keep in mind that 16 pounds a month is a lot of weight. It won't keep falling off that fast. So don't get discouraged.

I am 55 , been in Menopause for close to 10years and boy is it hard to take off the weight.

Zepbound has given me more energy which I love!!

I did shortly. I threw up or was naustated so badly I couldnt eat and eventually went into hypoglycemic shock. I lost weight but mostly because I was so seriously sick. Now I am left with majot digestion issues. It had been over a year since I took it and I am JUST seeing improvment of digestion. Hoping this app brings clarity.

There is no such animal as all natural diet drug. You also still need to eat in a healthy manner which you would need to do if you weren't taking a drug. It should be seen as a tool to help those who need it and be monitored by a doctor. Weight loss only occurs if you burn more calories than you consume. Keeping the weight off requires changing life habits. No drug can change that or do it for you.

Update - just want to clarify, I am taking Zepbound under the guidance of a doctor. It was stressed to me to prioritize protein: 90-100 grams a day, strength training and drinking at least 2 liters of water a day. Keep in mind, if you loose more than 2.5 pounds a week - you are also losing muscle, which we don’t want! I consume 1,200 calories a day and more on cardio days. Anyway- after three weeks on 2.5, I have lost 7 pounds (so about 2 pounds a week). Food noise is GONE! 🎉 Week one was was easy. Week two - I felt bloated and had a sour stomach for a few days. Week three - felt great. ALSO, I am usually a 1-2 cups of coffee a day person. I have had 2 cups of coffee in three weeks- I have no desire/craving for it. The plan is to stay on 2.5 Zepbound and only increase to 5 if I plateau.

No, technically the prescription drugs are synthetic.

GLP-1 is a hormone that does occur naturally in the body, and certain "natural" foods or supplements may boost its production. Those interventions tend not to be as persistent in the body as the drugs are, loosely speaking, so may not have the same effects.

    Hi,
I started Mounjaro on January 6th after being diagnosed with T2 diabetes. I started at 213.6 pounds and I am now at 183.1 pounds. I have had years of frustration over my weight, food cravings and lack of energy.

The first thing I noticed was that the cravings for sugar and carbs went away. The food noise was gone. I am also surprised by how I feel full after a normal portion and do not “clean” my plate or get seconds.

I am tracking everything I eat and putting Protein and Fiber first. I do have difficulty meeting my 1,200 calories a day because I feel full quickly and do not get hungry.

I am somewhat concerned I’m losing too fast and will loose muscle mass. So I am trying to do light weight lifting at home.

Another surprising thing is I also do not crave alcohol like I used to after stressful days.

It would seem to me that you are losing too fast. But without knowing what your week to week numbers it is really hard to tell. I'm heavier than you. Have been doing this two days longer and have only lost 16.8 pounds. 10 of those pounds were the first two weeks. I have no idea why I dropped 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I ate no less than 1200-1300 calories a day. If i remove those two weeks. I'm averaging 1.13lbs.

if we apply the same to you. (assuming 10lbs) you are losing average of 3.41lbs. Your account is private. Not that I know how to look at food diary anyway. but this is concerning.

Just for a visual. this is my weekly progress so far. I am disabled so I don't have any meaningful activity to consider in my weekly calorie goals.

also. you might want to consider eating by a clock if you are not getting hunger signals. this is what I do.

@beckatee75 I started Zepbound 2.5mg on 2/8. Just did my 4th shot this weekend. Down 5.6# I'm ok with it being slow. Trying to keep my protein and water up. Food noise was gone but today, at work, it's back a little. Maybe boredom. Need to focus on getting things done. It's not easy. Seeing my doctor on Wednesday this week to see what next steps should be.
