Morning ladies
Slept well ,this week hasn't been great weight wise..havent gained, but haven't lost either. The birds are singing which make me happy.4 -
Lynn - I am so sorry about Libby. I don't think it's possible to completely prepare our hearts for that kind of loss. Many hugs from here.
Barbara AHMOD - Hope the lump is benign, and the new removal is the last one. So hard for the little guys who don't know why these things are happening.
Machka - Well done on the 200K!
Heather - Well done on the bath! Couldn't resist. 😂👀😉 My best friend washes her hair in the sink even right after she gets out of the shower. I don't get it - but I was never coordinated enough to do that in a sink, even with a hose spray, without getting water all over me and everything in a five-foot radius! 😂
Slept 8 hours (yay!), and to keep my streak intact, was on the elliptical last night at 7:30 p.m. Not my usual time at all, but was so busy-busy yesterday, I totally forgot until Corey got in the bath at 7.
Will be challenging on Tuesday, which will be 50 days in a row, as I'll be out all morning and early afternoon, but it can be done.
Waiting on my Walmart order, which should be here any minute - rollers for both of us - Corey will be painting the half bath, and I'll be working on the tiles in the main bathroom. Mine requires a foam roller, because I'm wholly incapable of painting a smooth surface with a brush without leaving brush strokes.
Ah - there goes the gate alarm.
Time to get moving, my little chickadees...
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Back again before I dive into getting grubby. For you ladies who are new, due to the way that this thread works, all posts are pushed up to the site in the order they are completed.
So, while you may be reading posts from three days ago, when you answer one or more of those, your answering post will show up to everyone else on the last page of thread, after all replies posted before yours in real time.
While you are still on that page, it will appear only to you that it's posting on the same page as the ones you're reading.
However, as soon as you refresh, or just go away from the site and come back in later, you will be able to see where it's really landing--at the end. All posts are pushed up in the time order they're completed.
I just wanted to say this, because feelings have gotten hurt because someone appears to have ignored a post - when it reality, they're reading and responding to older posts, sometimes written days before the present time.
I hope that wasn't too confusing.

So sorry Lynn. You know, sometimes I think losing a pet is harder than losing a person. They dig into our hearts so deep. Sending big (((HUGS)))

We/I am currently looking for a rental house or duplex to move to. If we can’t find one we like/afford, we will move to another State Park to continue our search. Our goal is to purchase a rent-to-own house. Meanwhile, we/I am slowly packing things to put in the rental unit we still have. I’m glad we kept that, but hate that we have to pay for it to keep DH’s ‘save-for-just-in-case’ stuff and tools. I believe it is a waste of money but can’t convince him. He thinks it is saving money. He can’t handle stress and, Debbie, he acts much like you’ve described your husband when stressed. It’s hard, but I try to ignore his outbursts and get loss in my hobbies or reading. Only way I can cope right now. Anything I say will be turned into an arguing statement, so I say nothing. He gets over it and realizes how he acted. Never really apologizes but admits his blowups. That, at least, is something, but I still don’t talk to him until bedtime when he acts like that. He is a really social person and hates it more when I don’t talk to him rather than try to defend myself. I know him well.
Enough depressing talk for me. Here is “The thought of the day:”
Thinking of having my ashes stored in a glass urn.
Remains to be seen.

Its me again
Oy when it rains it pours... my brother just called and he is in a state
. And Im trying to talk him down..poor guy..Jean has sold his truck and quad to his son, without his knowledge, until yesterday.. and he is living up at the cottage..( Shane)
And he was complaining about he had to pay this and that. Jean has been paying taxes and things on it for awhile. Now she doesn't pay anything..she came home drunk last night and turned the heat down.. her brother and sister in law are now fighting over the trust and she mis used it so im hoping it comes back and bites her in the butt, but meanwhile. Sean needs money to survive.. and groceries and she isn't providing either.
I don't have anything extra to give or I would..
So if you could keep him in your thoughts Id appreciate it..5 -
Allie - If the title to your brothers truck ( and maybe quad) are in his name alone, then his wife would have had to forge his signature which is illegal and he could/should go to the police and file a complaint. If it was in both their names I think it still needs both their signatures. Also couldn't he talk to his child and get it straightened out between them?

Lynn, condolences on the loss of your sweet Libby.
Evelyn, Vancouver Island2 -
Rita, prayers that you will find the perfect place.
Beth, I love your produce box as well as your resolve to use it all. One of my biggest faults is letting things go bad before I use them. Food is too expensive for that, but I do it.
Lynn, condolences on the loss of Libby.
More ID theft drama. I now have a new debit card and we have another new bank account - our high-yield checking account. That makes three different fraud activities - all from the same bank. Whoever had our info either hacked my bank login info or it came from YNAB - the only other internet site that is connected to that account. I’m going to see if I can figure out how to only connect the regular checking and manually log transactions for that one. It’s where the majority of our liquid money is stored and we only transfer in and out of it. We don’t use checks or a debit card associated with it. I have changed the password. I don’t know what else to do. My next step is to freeze our credit, I guess. I could switch all YNAB to manual, but it would be a lot of work and hardly worth paying for. I might as well switch to paper and pencil.
Michele, would a free-standing toilet paper holder be a good compromise for you and Vince? He can set it in front of the toilet and you can move it back to the side. I can’t imagine this being a non-negotiable. Now, the way you put the roll on, yes.it must fall over the front. Lol. We have one of these for our primary bath and I love it. You can store two extra rolls in the base. We got one with a little shelf above the toilet paper roll for a box of wipes or you can use it as a shelf for your phone.
I signed up for another year of Healthy Free Life. Their latest improvement is live exercise via Zoom every week-day morning at 9:00. I have been doing T/Th and PT on M/F. It has added a level of accountability to workouts and my knee recovery.
I am reading Dana K White’s new book “Jesus Doesn’t Care About Your Messy House.” It is really good - a departure from her other books which do not mention religion at all. I am reading it literally and also analogously with “journey to a healthy body” instead of “journey to a clean, clutter-free house.” I have always noticed a correlation between my eating habits, house-cleaning habits, and spending/budget habits anyway. I recommend it if following Jesus is your thing. It’s not bad, even if this isn’t your thing, because she isn’t preachy at all.
I have not even downloaded the 2024 tax software. I don’t know what my procrastination problem is there.

Heather - thank you for the painting info. In 1995 I painted a "Granda Moses" type scene of our farm - the barn, sheep, llama, dog. I thought I had it scanned but cannot find the .jpg. I believe I painted it with acrylics. One of these days I'll just take a photo if I can't coax the scanner to work and post it here. Funny, after I painted it, I haven't had the desire to pick up a fine arts paintbrush since. But who knows - I'm getting a lot of inspiration from you.
Barbie - thank you for that recipe! It reminded me of one of the best dishes I ever had at an authentic Mexican restaurant (not a chain) had Mole sauce, a first for me.
Vicki - sending continual HUGS your way. Praying your DH's recovery is far enough along to go back to work soon and that something you'd love pans out in your job department. Also praying the Metformin does the trick for you for now - and that you'll be able to find a program which will cover your Trulicity again.
Kay - what a frustrating situation with your bank. Sorry to hear about the hassle! Dana White's new book sounds interesting! I put one of those movable TP holders in the master bath. The original holder was on the wall next to the toilet tank - a person had to do a 180 to reach it! DH always set a roll on the vanity where he could reach it (it was "his" bathroom). I like that it holds a couple rolls and like yours, there's a little top shelf.
Winds and rain theoretically coming after lunch, made a real early trip to town and stocked up on groceries so I'm set for a week.
Have a great weekend ladies!

Hey kids,
Taking a lunch break, meds break, sit down and catch up with y'all break while the basecoat cures in the main bathroom. Corey's taking a break now that he has the first coat of Kilz on the entire small bathroom, including the door and ceiling...
Separate, parallel jobs work so much better for us to get along during these projects. That way neither feels guilty that the other's working when we're not. We shook hands on an agreement to not pick holes in the other person's painting performance, as well as not being too hard on ourselves.
We are both recovering perfectionists. 👀😉😂🐈⬛Egg seldom says much about the work we've done either way. 😉
And, bless him, he made a ham, cheese and potato frittata that came out of the oven just in time for lunch for both of us before he started painting.
Vicki - I think of you often. I know it's a really hard time right now, and it has to be feeling like a long, long winter for you. Sorry for the loss of your friend. So many of us seem to have lost people and pets that we care about recently. Thinking about you.
Kay - I have all three credit reporting agencies frozen for everything of mine. I can unfreeze them if/when we ever need to buy another house or car, but right now, there's just no reason to have them wide open. It's much easier to freeze them than it used to be.
Time to go put my feet up for a bit, and will be taking an extra pain med - up and down off a low stool to paint the floor edge has my knees a-screaming. Still better than kneeling, but only just. *sigh* Could be worse - could be unable to either one.
Later, my babies,
Love y'all,

When my mother died in 1991 we moved into her house and rented three storage units for all the things --hers and ours--that we weren't ready to deal with. In the following years we allowed our son and a friend to store some items in the storage unit. When we felt that it was time to empty the storage units we found ourselves saying "we could do this if L or J would just get their stuff out". That's when we realized that what we were doing was shifting the blame to someone else so we didn't have to look at the stuff that was our responsibility. From that experience we made the family rule that no one could comment on other people's stuff. Each had to concentrate on one's own.

Debbie I feel the way you do about line dance class. Patient teacher and best group of gals outside this one.
Kim thanks, I never thought to freeze the aquafaba in ¼ C portions. Maybe for when I try making Michele’s black bean brownies. . .
Carol very sorry to hear your debit card got hacked. Thankful for your responsive credit union.
Rita, sorry but I don’t get the potato farmer/rodent dadjoke. “…remains to be seen” made me snort my water!
Barbie thanks for the chicken mole recipe. At last, something to do with that bag of black beans I bought for brownies, before realizing the recipe called for canned black beans ;{
Vicki horrible about the Trulicity co$t. Prayers and hugs for you and your DH.
Michele, if we ever renovated, I would eliminate all tile. I dislike grout, impossible to truly clean. Likewise I dislike seams in countertops and backsplashes. Give me one long solid surface. Not that I really try to clean, you understand . . .
Machka congrats for pushing the cycling despite the wind. Wind can surely take it out of you.
Lisa You and Corey continue to amaze and inspire. Neither Joe nor I are energetic or skilled enough to even paint. Brava!
Kay yes, freeze your credit right away, while considering what to do about YNAB and your checking account(s).
Been sitting too long. Time progress on the laundry mountain, prep mushrooms, oh and put some black beans on to soak . . .
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Rita- sorry you are dealing with your dh- him getting angry at the drop of a hat of simple things is so hard to put up with.
Allie- Sorry to hear about your brother. Someone needs to set that woman in her place, quick
Lynn- Sorry about your poor pup. Have been through it too many times- last spring we lost two cats in just a week. One died in my arms from seizures and the other had to be put to sleep because of old age-Neko was 16, Miso was only 4.
Carol- that is perfect!!! I think that every morning when I really want to go back to sleep but they have other plans for me.
Thankfully we are getting beautiful spring weather the last couple days- It is 66 now, getting up in the low 70's this coming week. Made the walk around the wetlands the last two days even so much better. So many of the birds are returning, saw swallows, a robin and a few bluebirds for the first time this spring. A lot more hummingbirds-they love the eucalyptus trees that are blooming.
Didn't get my scheduled forth walk last night- friend who was going to walk with me at the wetlands then canceled but was then going to walk at the park, well, she canceled on that too. Wasn't feeling good. It worked out for the best as dh's car wouldn't start. Needs a new battery. We went to Walmart after I walked the dog for a very short walk. They didn't have the one for his car BUT he could order one and have it ready for pick up this morning. Odd that it was the same store and he got the message that it was ready for pick up just hours after placing the order. We picked it up today and of course, all three times he has tried to start his car since ordering it, car started up, no problem. Well, walking all over Walmart while he looked at the batteries gave me extra steps and I found a few snacks on clearance. Some nut bars- little ones, 100 cal in winter flavors like maple pecan and chai. 10 pack for $1 and some of the V8 Energy in a different flavor 6pk for $2. I only drink them before class. Hope they are as good as the mango pineapple. These are strawberry lemonade.
Ended the day with 18,260 steps/8.15 miles yesterday
Got woken up this morning at 6:30. A friend who helps at the food program with mom called to see if I knew if mom was ok. She wasn't at the church to help. She is usually there at 5 if not before. Mom wasn't answering her phone. The lady drove almost all the way to mom's(10miles from town) when mom finally answered her phone. She didn't realize/remember that today was Saturday. Her memory is getting worse and she knows it. She is going to talk to the doctor again about meds that might help.
MIL is back in the care home- kept trying to get up all night long. The owner stayed up with her all night to make sure she didn't fall trying to get up. They need something stronger than melatonin to keep her sedated at night. They are still waiting to see if one of her insurances will pay for the Purewick system. Dh could buy it for about $600 or something like that but the part they have to change twice a day will cost $25 a day . The owner wants dh to talk to the nurse to see if they need to put her on hospice. I don't know if that will change things in any way. Having Juliee tell him is making it more real and immenant to him and he is ok with it. He is ready for it to be over. Even with her being so out of it, she still finds a way to be mean to him. I tell him mean trumps crazy.
Dinner is all prepped- using left over baked salmon to make salmon cakes plus I cooked a bag of shrimp and got them peeled and cocktail sauce made for shrimp cocktails to go with the salmon and some salad.
Everyone likes it
Debbie

Barbara AHMOD - If it helps, the reality of my wrecked knees, ankles, etc., cut in and suggested very strongly that I wait until tomorrow before I do the topcoat - which is a clearcoat, so less messy, at least.
We have both learned that pushing it too hard hurts too much and keeps us from accomplishing what we want to do. So we do a bit and stop. Clean one day, paint the basecoat the next day, topcoat the next day. Small steps, least effort for same end result, just more slowly. Corey painted this weekend and plumbed in the sink. Next week or the week after will be the floor and the trim. Would not in any way put up with it from a hired contractor - but we can take our time.
Patience, for me, has been so hard to learn - but the body demands that I exercise patience more than any other muscle. It is a punitive instructor. No carrots. Sticks only. 😈👀😂
I may have pushed that metaphor to the breaking point... 🙀😂

Hello all
Unfortunately everything is in Jeans name,so there is that.he doesn't have a penny to his name, and Jean was frivolous with the trust and is now paying for it..but they have been together for 20 yrs been married for 8 ,so I don't know what that will get him if anything.
But I want to see her locked up,for being so mean to my brother, and misuse of trust money ,Karma will come to her..
I don't wish ill will on many people but my
poor brother has been put through the ringer this is him this afternoon..doesn't he look worn out and older than 60..he has to sleep in a recliner because she has the bedroom..Ugh6 -

Allie. Can your brother get a job? That seems the obvious decision in order to get some financial independence. I'm sorry you are being dumped on about it.
Lots of rain here today. We're under a flood watch. We live on a small knoll, at about 180 feet, so we'll be fine, but the lowlands will be in trouble.
Thinking about you, Rita, as you are needing to find another place to live.
Much love to all.

Did a pilates DVD. When I walked to WynnDixie yesterday, there was a sign that the fitness place was closed due to shortage of staff and the office would reopen on Monday. I think this is probably an excuse for “our person is on vacation”. The plan for tomorrow is to do a yoga DVD
Just finished walking around the parking lot for a little over an hour
I think we decided on a vanity for the bathroom. What’s cool is that there’s a drawer on the top that has 3 sections. The downside is that a lot of the reviews said that the top was broken. So we’ll ask to see if before we buy it. Saw a tile at Lowe’s, but I think there’s another place we want to go to.
The condo has a fundraiser (I don’t really know what for...I think the landscaping fund) pancake breakfast so went just to be nice. I don’t know that I really wanted the pancakes but it’s nice to be supportive.
Lisa – you’re not the only one who can’t wash their hair in the sink. Really, I don’t think there are many people who can
Went to Bells Outlet, didn’t get anything. Did stop at one of the food stores on the way home since I’d gotten a banana bread mix there, but they only had the Chiquita one that I already had so I just got a few overripe bananas and made the bread for Vince (had some just to be sure it was OK….lol)
katie – vince mentioned a free standing tp stand, but the thing is that the bathroom is so small that we need to try to utilize as much space as possible. A stand just takes up more room, so I really don’t think it would be a good idea. He is compromising on turning to the side to get the tp, I’m compromising by allowing him to have a tp holder recessed into the vanity
Barbara – we’re going to have tile on the floor in the bathroom. I really want one of those one-piece tubs. Yes, tile is more durable. But the again, we’re only here one month/year so it should do for us. Also, that’s easier to clean. I know in NC one of our bathrooms has tile and I’m constantly having to clean the grout

Today I recd a box from my sister. She sent me a cool old Mason jar for ground coffee storage, a pretty gold frame that is a shadow box, and my maternal grandmothers steel anchor she cut in "ship building 101 class" during WWII and she worked on Sauves Island, Liberty Ship Builders. I want to create a shadow box with a photo of her, and momentos.
Tonight we each had 2 Lumpia pieces, and chicken fried rice. Filling meal!

Kylia - Thank you! I am going to walk. I remember when your sister graduated. She looked so happy.
The training you take, is it to learn about new machines so you can be knowledgeable when selling them?
You have to do a lot of training and I keep meaning to ask.
Machka - I hope things settle down for you and Rowan soon.
It’s been a long haul.
Heather - that must be a relief to have the windows replaced. I wouldn’t want that hanging over my head. 😉
Margaret - yes the deep freeze is over for the next week at least. We’re almost out of it now, I really hope we get another couple do storms to help with moisture in the ground.
Lisa - I can’t wait to see your shawl and your fridge.
I couldn’t paint grout without smacking my head against the wall either.
Rita - I love kaleidoscopes too.
Hope you find something soon.
Allie - why is it so cold in the house? That’s not good for anyone.
I think your brother needs a lawyer.
Michele - I have a stand for my toilet paper. It holds three spares in the bottom and one roll that turns on the top. It’s a good alternative for us as it would have been behind us or across from us.
Lynn - sorry for your loss.
Baths and hair washes - I only wash my hair in the sink. I bathe almost every night. I am claustrophobic in showers, they are not something I do unless I have no choice.
Rebecca - I like the idea of an old mason jar for coffee grounds. I was keeping them last year to dump in my garden. I had a plastic container and I hated the looks of it.
I made a couple of shirts for DH today and designed two for myself. I am hoping to get one more designed for me tomorrow. I actually have 6 shirts here to do for myself. I forgot about three of them. They were in a bin.
I am heading to bed.
