Here is Delia passed out, poor little girl.
Going to stop up and see Doris after watching D and then drop off my taxes
Always great to see Miles when I get here in the morning.
Happy Birthday Carla!! 🎂 Hope its an awesome day5 -
Fire in woodstove, dogs asleep--one on couch, one under the table--Irish music on YouTube, only light rain so dog walking later should be OK.
My line dance class had several women in their 90's and even more in their 80's so I couldn't come close to being "old" with them. However, it's nice to be able to play the old lady card when needed to get help with something. I live in a 55+ community so no one here is very young.

Allie ...I'm gonna have to agree with the others ... the house is too cold during the day for you and Delia. They need to find other ways to save on utility costs.
Ginny ... hugs ...
Rebecca ... sorry to hear about the loss of your aunt ... 96 is a long time!
Sarah ... welcome. My husband has had multiple back surgeries including a fusion and has had significant relief.
Flea ... Parenting is never easy, is it? I'm thinking of the clay and the potter. We're never really "broken" ... just reshaped.
Lisa ... it's been 8 years since you moved into your current home?? Wow!

Lisa I look forward to weeks with little on calendar, but it seems like they keep filling up! This week should have been quiet, but currently at elbow dr for DH. He has an echo at 8 on Friday and an MRI on Saturday at 715 am! I don't mind the before work ones as much as the during work ones. Hard to get back into swing of things when leaving and coming back.

Lanette My take away from Atomic Habits is remove the trigger if you can. Example he gave was someone who would stop to get a fast food treat daily. Changing the route and choosing a healthier chose in its staid made for a better result. Also figuring out a reward that is healthy for a change of habit as a motivator. We do better with rewards than with negative feedback.
I like to think of us as the young at heart group or we have your back group or come with your troubles and leave them here so you can better face the day!
I am finding a small habit that helps me is when I change a password I try to think of a positive healthy phase like Add a thousand steps today... Get ready for bed by nine...Eat more purple veggies...Wake up and enjoy the day..I did not use the ones I just listed but these are just ideas.7 -

Kylia - I got spoiled the last couple of months, with very few medicapalooza days, but next week is back to my treasured, quiet life. Corey won't GO to a doctor, so I don't deal with things on that side barring emergencies. Fingers crossed there are none of those in our future!
Dentist done, and my teeth feel quite spiffy. Then I hit the DMV, and a quick run through the beer store at Corey's request. Swanned back home, and an early lunch getting yummy in the air fryer - chicken, with rice in the microwave. Then time to get my labs done, stop at the thrift store, then the doctor and X-rays and this day will finally be completed and I can come back home and collapse...
For those I conversed with about Joann's, they're now closing ALL the stores, as they couldn't find a buyer for the 300 they were keeping open. They still haven't brought their prices down to a reasonable amount, though, IMHO. Don't know how long they'll keep selling.
Later, taters,
Love,

Today is a windy, rainy, cold day on the island! At 11 am today getting haircut. I need my ears to breathe (if that makes sense), plus getting some bumps behind my ears where my dang glasses rub a bit. So I am getting it buzzed around my ears, down in the back. Kind of like these examples:We'll see how it goes!
I might explore downtown before I call Lee to get me. Its been awhile since I played the piano in the foyer of one of the businesses. There's also a cool antique-y, messy, eclectic shops that is fun on get lost in.
My sister wrote in the group cousins chat that she and I were heading down there together, so I guess she got her truck repaired. It might be snow there! One of my cousins that live in the Beaverton area has a holiday home 30 minutes from from where the event is taking place, so maybe my sister and I will take her up on her offer. Seeing so many family did a kind of knee jerk on my thoughts though. First second of knowing I am traveling down, my thoughts were, "I need to just fast hard from now until I leave". Which is kind of loony, as I know they will accept me whatever size I am. My cousin who unfriended me will be there, so that will be interesting. There will be lots of people to reconnect with that we can be in the same room, no worries. We might do some crying. I know I will do some crying.

Got 2 tires replaced on the RV yesterday as part of the prep. DH and I both decided not to worry too much about leaving the park. I’m still going to look for apartment houses but not so crazily. We will most probably just go to a different RV park for the 2 weeks we need to leave and can always come back here. We have a lifetime pass to New Mexico State parks so no extra cost doing that. The change simply made us both flip out. Back to the tires, they were not nearly as expensive as we thought they would be at 250 each. We expected closer to 1,000 each. Plus the service charge was only 65! So very doable. We had the guy check all the tires while he was here to plan for more but we only needed the 2 and he had brought 2 with him. Worked out well.
Not much planned until the 27th when my script at Walmart will be ready. So maybe I’ll make myself walk today. Not walking is making my back and shoulders hurt. Too idle lately with the depression. Forced walking will help. I know it does as I’ve done it before. Just have to get past the worst of it.
Thought for today:
The wedding was so beautiful, even the cake was in tiers!
Have a great day everyone!

Debbie - sorry to hear about your X-MIL, she sounds like a great lady and quite a change from your current MIL. I have had a couple instances where you ladies send me your information and it floats around in outer space for half a day and sometimes never arrives at all.
Happy Birthday Carla! Have a wonderful day!!
We didn't lose power. A weather station nearby reported 23 MPH gusts which isn't anything, really, and looks like about 2" of rain in the past 24 hours. The hens' run is mostly underwater but will drain pretty quickly - we are supposed to have some sunshine this afternoon.

Happy Birthday, Carla!
Michele ... we were hoping to use a shower surround in our bathroom that we're redoing, but it's an alcove shower with a low ceiling ... so not enough circulation space to just go with green board. We have to tile too. But we're looking for a shower base (which is what we had with tile walls before) instead of tiling the floor. They don't have much in stock that you can "feel" and I need to do that since I want a really aggressive slip-resistant floor.
Years ago someone referred to this group as "Phat Chat" ... that stuck with me and it's how I refer to you all when talking to my husband or son about something that is going on here.
Didn't get much done today other than bake a three layer cake and do some light cleaning. Dinner will be leftovers from the past couple of days. I'm scheduled to volunteer in our church's "Clothing Closet" ministry from 5:30-7:00. Families in need from the school district get referred to our closet when they need clothes for their children or themselves. One woman a couple of months ago ... with 3 children in tow ... told us she hadn't had a winter coat of her own for years. We found her one that she liked!

I am very fatigued and have requested to lower the dose of the GLP shot. I hate this because I want my money's worth but I am so tired. I am working on getting a soil sample for my lawn and will plant some seed. Great news! My osteoporosis has improved to osteopenia now and further improvement is expected!

Did a spinning workout today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Lower Body Total Body DVD.
Touting my own horn: I have to say that I’m proud of myself. As you know, before I started working I’d exercise every day. Well, on the days I don’t work (wed and sun) I go to the gym on wed and do a DVD at home on Sun (because the gym opens so darn late). Every day I take a walk, either around the block or to the store. I’m proud of the fact that I’m keeping it up, especially since I know me and if I don’t exercise first thing in the a.m. it doesn’t happen
Deb – prayers for your ex-MIL
Yesterday I was talking to this one lady here at the condo that I didn’t see last year. Anyway, she was telling me all about her medical problems, how she has high blood pressure, had both hips replaced. Then she said something about how she was 71 and it’s rough getting older, she said that I’ll find out. So I told her I wasn’t far behind her then told her I was 70. She was surprised, I was secretly pleased.
Met a friend of ours today for lunch. Knew him and his wife from a bowling league here in Hickory. They moved to Palm Coast about 10 years ago. Anyway, he had esophageal cancer and has lost 70 pounds. They have a truck and he can’t get into it without using a step stool. He’s also walking with a walker. His wife told me that he’s having balance issues and is going for PT for it. He’s supposed to go for an operation to insert a stint into his esophagus. I never knew they could insert it into the esophagus! The downside is that it’ll gradually open up. Right now his esophagus is the size of a pea and nothing tastes good to him. He can eat if he chews the food into REAL small pieces. His doctor is checking his liver so he can’t drink, which is weird for him because everytime we saw him, he had a beer in his hand. He and his wife used to make wine, but she told me that they probably won’t any more.
After lunch walked to a thrift store I didn’t remember ever seeing. Nothing but junk. Wouldn’t surprise me if they weren’t here next year.
Kylia – I’ve never vaped, so that probably explains my stupid question. What is a 4 tank?
Carla – happy birthday
Lisa – don’t worry about being poor at Math. I love to talk about Vince who has a CPA degree. He got when his parents would be married 50 years wrong so we came down here for their 49the anniversary. I said to him “they have a plaque on their porch that says ‘This household established….’ All you had to do was subtract that year from this year”. A CPA got it wrong!!!
Beth – that’s so sad the lady hasn’t had a coat in a long time, but it was wonderful of you to find her one
Rosemarie – I was so excited when my osteoporosis became osteopenia, so I can relate to how you feel. Unfortunately for me, tho, insurance wouldn’t pay any more for the Prolia unless I went on some biphosenates. Osteoporosis here I come! Well, the MD wrote to them and they paid for the Prolia. Now that I’m on Medicare, they pay for the Prolia as long as I have it in the hospital. Not a big deal. But it is interesting that they wouldn’t pay for it if I did it at home, so I just go to the hospital for the injection.

Happyyyyy bday Carla (what’s your screen name).. today was a beautiful day. In the 70’s, nice and clear. My brother and wife surprised us by bringing their trailer to camp out here for a bit. They saw our new trailer and are really impressed.

Lanette I just read this on one of my feeds in Gmail...I liked how it puts a plan into a habit you are trying to create.
Our brains need 3 main things to make a new habit actionable.
1) A time
2) A specific place
3) Duration
So, instead of saying, "I want to meditate today."
You say, "Today, at 9 am, I'm going to meditate on the couch for 20 minutes."
Do you feel the difference between the 2? Rather then it being a task to happen at an arbitrary time, it's a very clear task that can be plugged into your calendar.10 -

Good evening from Nebraska where it is 102 warmer today at 61 then last week at below zero. It was great to get out and enjoy the day. Sun shine helped my mood greatly.
Ginny--sending prayers for your health.
Flea--being a parent is hard. I have done so many things wrong, but I always did the best I could with what I knew at the time.
Rita--sorry to hear about Brownie. Seeing our fur babies decline is hard.
Carol--Interesting phone call. I would of hung up and not answered. We have been getting a lot of calls that want to know if I got my medicare card yet. I just hang up.
Tracey--The shirts are really cute.
Rebecca--Sorry to hear about your Aunt passing. Glad you and your sister are making arrangements to attend the service. Our friend who passed last week service is this Friday and about 100 miles. So will make a day of it. I also remember Prudence.
Well time to think about going to bed.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE7 -
Rebecca - Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your Aunt.
I don’t remember Prudence, I think I started reading along just as you were settling into your first house in Whidbey.
Lisa was moving or had just moved to her current home. Heather was trying to buy in Hove, but truthfully what kept me coming back the first few days was wondering how Macha’s husband was as he had just had his accident.
Then I just go so wrapped up in all of your lives. I think the first time I actually posted was in April 2018, but I started reading in March.
I can’t sit for long periods either. I do not handle the plane trip home very well. I purposely look for layover flights to give my legs a break.
Machka - I find as I age that I do better with one task at a time. I may be faster doing more than one, but I’m more accurate and proud of my work when I take time to do one task at a time. Of course, I rarely get to do that. I have to answer the phone, the door, deal with visitors, staff and residents throughout my day, and it depends on what’s happening how many other tasks come along.
Ginny - my youngest prefers crew neck too. I am claustrophobic and it seems to be getting worse instead of better, the crew neck feels like it’s choking me. I used to love turtlenecks! I don’t know how!
Kylia - I’m with you on the Alzheimer’s fear. It’s rampant in my Dad’s side and I was hoping to have a shot, but my Mom was 66 when we started seeing signs, 68 when she was diagnosed and 72 when she went into the manor. I feel doomed now.
Lisa - I couldn’t forgive that either. So glad he had you and Corey.
Lanette - That’s scary to have him driving when he shouldn’t be. My brother did something to mom’s car to make it inoperable and told he didn’t have time to look at it. When he finally did her license had lapsed so he told her she would have to take a test again and she didn’t want to do that.
It was a rough period for a few months for them. I just heard both sides at different times. I 100% agreed with what my brother was doing.
Rita - I just love your little thoughts.
Heather - That’s scary had to have been a hard chapter to write. Hugs.
Michele - I want a bed with drawers or at least one with hydraulics that lift up for storage underneath.
Kylia - Darn computers and systems. Some days I think they are more trouble than they’re worth.
Barbie - loving am trying to convince DH to take advantage of some of the places that use 60 for a seniors discount. He was vocal in telling me to be quiet about the “senior citizen crap”, I told him he earned those discounts and he should take advantage of them.
I call this group “my ladies” when I talk about you.
Rita - will you lose your park host positions when leaving? Will that be good or bad?
Allie - sorry about your friend.
Barbie - Annie looks quite comfortable.
I thought I posted last night, I guess I didn’t.
Busy days at work, but I’m getting a lot accomplished.
The school board here and 3 others in our province are striking. This if for the support services, like the Education Assistants. I had the feeling when I did my practicums that this was occurring. I hope they get much better contracts.
Tomorrow is my Godson’s birthday I was 17 when he was born and the first baby I ever fell in love with. He will be 39! Our eldest niece will be 38 tomorrow.
Happy Birthday Carla!
Have a great night

Thank you Lynette , Rosemarie, Michelle-
I got text from both former father in law and former hubby- She passed away this evening with her husband and two of her three sons with her
She suffered from bi-polar as long as I have known them and had some times that destroyed the family (he was a pastor and was asked to leave because of her actions)but he stood by her and then in recent year add in dementia and still he stayed right by her side. September would have been 70 yrs I think.
I am grateful to have had someone so loving towards me, even long after her son and I divorced. Because of the dementia she lost the ability to walk or talk where they could understand her. She babbled a lot but she always knew her husband and sons. They were always her whole life.
Hard not being able to be there to comfort them. They are back in Indiana.

Thanks ladies on your nice thoughts about my aunts passing. In all honesty, I had not seen her in about 26 years, when my mom had passed. I sent her Christmas cards each year, and then when her husband passed she went to live in Oregon where one of her sons live. But she was an amazing lady.
My hair cut worked out, its short but I like it!
Wasn't able to eat at the burger joint, but I made some soup at home.
Dinner was a bagel, cream cheese and strawberries.😁💖

Sorry to hear about your MIL Debbie. Losing people we love is always hard, especially if they loved us. I was close to my ex MIL, visited her regularly in the nursing home, and was able to go to her funeral. My ex and I had been married 28 years, and courted 3 years before that, so she was 'family' to me, and, of course, my children's beloved grandmother. Although I was married to John by then, he didn't come with me, and it was nice to see so many extended old family members from that side. I think they were pleased to see me!
I know you thought about her a lot
