Really enjoyed the Minimal Mom video on YouTube today. It's title is 21 things to declutter, but it starts with her and her twin explaining their relationship. Then the decluttering, and then a bit of an update on her divorce and what they have both learned from the process. I found it very warm and inspiring. I even had a little cry.

:) My adventures in decluttering go back to 1991 when my mother died and we moved into her house. It took ten years for us to sort through all the things we hurriedly put into three large storage units to allow us to merge two cluttered households (three if you count the fact that when Jake and I got married in 1989 he moved himself and his stuff into my house). All that time allowed me to treat every item with respect and make good choices. I was reminded of what a good decision that was when I recently saw a giant dumpster in the driveway of a neighbours house where it seemed that family members were dumping everything.

:) One way to declutter is to take time to think (days or weeks) before buying anything new. I've embraced intentional shopping and don't wander through stores or websites looking at things I "might" want. The Minimalists say that the best place to store stuff is at the store.

:) Another thing that has helped me is to put aside seriously sentimental stuff to deal with later and start with the obvious easy stuff. Also, discarding 1-10 things in a day is a win. I don't have to fill a sack, box, or garbage can to feel successful.

:)Lisa, All your crafts are amazing. Enjoy your years of imagination and creativity.

:) Yes, Annie looks adorable on my pillows. But she doesn't lie on them during the day, only when we come back from a middle of the night trip outside to "do business". It's not so cute at midnight.

:) I dealt with two more accounts that were in both names. One I cancelled so I don't have to pay $99.00 for accidental death insurance that Jake insisted on having. The other was AAA emergency service that will cost $40.00 less with only one of us. Both customer service reps were very kind and friendly.

:) One of my line dance friends sent an email and asked me to call her. I remember when her husband died about four years ago and she came back to dancing right away. She spent 45 minutes talking about herself and how she'd handled her husband's death. I said almost nothing. Her approach to her grief was so different from mine but it seemed to make her feel better to talk about it.

:) Annie and I will drive to the library today to get a book I put on hold.

:)Carla, Happy day after your birthday. Best wishes for another great year.

One of the books I am reading is exploring the fact that some cancers are a metabolic disease. The theory is mitochondria becomes damaged when it is damaged it feeds on glucose to get it its energy. They are experimenting with having people fast before a chemo treatment. The theory is the healthy mitochondria gets stronger in fasting and the cancerous mitochondria weakens during fasting. When radiation and or chemo is done it kills the damaged mitochondria the healthier mitochondria goes through the treatment better. In the trials those trying fasting had fewer side effects from their treatments. It costs nothing to try a fast before chemo.

    My plan for the day...

For me it makes me think what can I do to strengthen my mitochondria (these are our powerhouses in our body) Eating within a eight hour window so have a 16 hour fast. Today because I ate breakfast at 9 I will be done eating for the day by 5. I will also skip lunch because I had a late breakfast for me. Moderate exercise is also good. Today at 5 I will put on one of my oldie records and dance to it down in my basement. Today I will start getting ready for bed at 9. Getting good sleep gives my body a chance to rest, repair, and remove toxins from my body. I will continue to feed my body nutritious food rather than empty calories. At four I will have my chilli that is packed with extra veggies and fresh pineapple for dessert.

Barbie I agree everyone experiences grief differently and there is no right or wrong way to go about it. Your dance line friend was ready and in need to tell her story. Hopefully she can listen to your story when you are ready or at least listen to what you have going on in your life. I try to get myself to remember I have two ears and one mouth so I should listen twice as much as I speak. (I need to work on following my own advice) I also need to gently set limits when others do not follow this guideline too! Adding Barbara's comment too...open heart  and mind  before mouth.

Carol good catch. Your instinct was spot on.
Flea what Debbie said about being able to talk to your son. Blessings.
Michele, have you considered slab or solid surface instead of tile for the tub wall? IMHO the less grout and fewer seams, the mo’ bettah. ;)
Ginny brava for walking! Yes to train trip through the Canadian Rockies, something I’ve always wanted to do.
Tracey “…medium…” took me a moment then snorted my tea. ;) Yours to Allie about the cold house being abuse. SMH. the tshirts. Was startled when I wore this Tshirt to see that it distracted from and covered a multitude of sins. Now I’m on the lookout for others with the same effect. Rebecca, ((hugs)) very sorry for your loss. Like you, I am determined not to be a bitter and angry elderly lady, the only elements on that list I can control. Need to start practicing now! From my almost 75 perspective you are a mere whippersnapper!
Belated welcome @sarahmurch9925 Sarah! Lovely to meet you too!
Kylia ((hugs)) Reading “Why We Sleep” and learning how crucial deep, uninterrupted sleep is. What Margaret said about our DNA not having to be our destiny. Brava for staying nicotine free! ((hugs))
Lisa, Oh. To be thankful for rage-slammed-shut throat. Oof. Neither could I forgive.
    Lynn (hugs held extra long)
Evelyn did you feel the quake Monday night?
Debbie prayer said for your former MIL. ((hugs))
Only through pg 31 but Tumble just announced “It’s Tummy Time!!!”
    Later, lighter, lovelies!

No idea why, but my energy has been really low today. I decided after lunch that I didn't feel like dragging us both out to French Circle, with v early dinner and considerable smartening up required. Just not feeling it. John definitely not into it. So, I decided that was a good decision and had a nap. :o John pleased.
I hope to go next time, which will be a series of cooking demonstrations, and probably a chance for informal chat.

Did get an appointment to have my fallen-out filling looked at on Friday morning. Occasionally, it is a bit sensitive, which makes me nervous. I've rung twice before with no answer, but John got through just before lunch for his own check-up, and passed the phone to me. :)

Hoping this slump will lift before too long.

Rebecca - Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your Aunt..

Rita - I just love your little thoughts.
    .

Rita - will you lose your park host positions when leaving? Will that be good or bad?

    Happy Birthday Carla!

    Have a great night
    Tracey in Edmonton

Thank you Tracey, they help my moods as well! I will lose the park host position here when we leave, however, we worked over 5,000 hours and now have a lifetime pass to host anywhere in the state. Everyone here, including the supervisor that told us we have to leave for 2 weeks, wants us to come back. It’s all about paperwork now. Paperwork to leave for 2 weeks, paperwork if we come back. The powers that be want to enforce the rule (which is actually a state law) that we have to move out for 2 weeks every 6 months. Makes no sense to me. If the park rangers like what we are doing and we want to stay, the 2 weeks will be a forced vacation and generates a lot of paperwork for administration. They just want proof. I told the rangers, why can’t we just do the paperwork and no move. They said they thought of that, however administration knows we are here and for how long, so pushing for us to move out for 2 weeks. IMO a waste of time. However, we have been talking about renting or rent-to-buy a house for a while so I’m taking this as a sign we need to follow through with the plans. I just wanted to wait until the car is paid off next year. Oh well “que sera, sera”.

Hi, I need to add to my long enough post.
    Carla- Happy Belated Birthday.

Debbie, I'm sorry for the loss of your former MIL.

Rebecca, Condolences for the loss of your 96-year-old aunt. Safe travels to the funeral. I love your haircut.

Lisa, I tried to comment on your video, but I could not as well. You have so much energy; pass some of it my way.

Allie, the house temperature for you and the children should be at least 72 degrees. I have a space heater at work. Maybe you can get one to warm up so you can be healthy.

Barbie and Annie look precisely like the ones I pictured in my mind. She is beautiful.

Pip, how did you deal with three energetic golden retrievers? My one is needy. Maybe all three kept each other company. Now you have three dogs again.

Okay, I am going to bed.

    Chow for now,
    Mo in Mississippi

I didn’t have any problem. I was the trainer. We got the 1st two four years apart. The second learned a lot from the first. The first I trained as a therapy dog and we would go to hospitals etc. I crate trained them all and clicker trained them.

    Barbiecat- I love your poocher!

@Ginny we will keep the RV until we find a place to rent/buy. Once we are all moved in, we will put the RV up for sale. It is a 1999 and we have lived in it for 8 years now, so we won’t get much for it. DH is planning on fixing the one small roof leak we have (he has fixed all the others from when we bought it, along with all the plumbing). It needs all new upholstery. I hate seeing him on the roof. He is 71 and feels like he is 20. He is not physically fit and has a 71 year old body.

    @Carla, Happy belated birthday!

As I was writing this, we had company and updated them on the happenings here. They were disgusted. The husband S was the Ranger Supervisor here for 25 years and they both live across from the park. In fact, part of their land is included in the park borders. They have been friends here for years. If worse comes to worse, we can put our RV on their property for the 2 weeks we have to be gone. I was reminded that another friend of ours JD is at a campground that needs hosts. We may look into that.

    Thought for today:

What is the cutest fish in the sea?

    A cuddlefish!

    ig78tvgt0mpf.jpeg
Cuttlefish, or cuttles, are marine molluscs of the suborder Sepiina. They belong to the class Cephalopoda which also includes squid, octopuses, and nautiluses. Cuttlefish have a unique internal shell, the cuttlebone, which is used for control of buoyancy.

Cuttlefish have large, W-shaped pupils, eight arms, and two tentacles furnished with denticulated suckers, with which they secure their prey. They generally range in size from 15 to 25 cm (6 to 10 in), with the largest species, the giant cuttlefish (Sepia apama), reaching 50 cm (20 in) in mantle length and over 10.5 kg (23 lb) in mass.[1]

Cuttlefish eat small molluscs, crabs, shrimp, fish, octopuses, worms, and other cuttlefish. Their predators include dolphins, larger fish (including sharks), seals, seabirds, and other cuttlefish. The typical life expectancy of a cuttlefish is about 1–2 years. Studies are said to indicate cuttlefish to be among the most intelligent invertebrates.[2] Cuttlefish also have one of the largest brain-to-body size ratios of all invertebrates.[2]

The Greco-Roman world valued the cuttlefish as a source of the unique brown pigment the creature releases from its siphon when it is alarmed. The word for the cuttlefish in both Greek and Latin, sepia, now refers to the reddish-brown color sepia in English.

    Have a great day!

Sorry to hear about your MIL Debbie. Losing people we love is always hard, especially if they loved us. I was close to my ex MIL, visited her regularly in the nursing home, and was able to go to her funeral. My ex and I had been married 28 years, and courted 3 years before that, so she was 'family' to me, and, of course, my children's beloved grandmother. Although I was married to John by then, he didn't come with me, and it was nice to see so many extended old family members from that side. I think they were pleased to see me! :)
I know you thought about her a lot <3

    Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Former hubby and I met when I was in 7th grade so I have known and loved his family for most of my life. We did loose touch when he left me(no warning and I didn't know where he went) Found out 20 yrs later that his second wife had forbade them to have any contact with me, including his parents. After she passed away we all reconnected-that was almost 10 yrs ago now. It has been great to be back in touch and see them occasionally. His younger brother has been out and hung out with my current dh and I a few different times while staying at the older brother's house here in town. Spent more time with us than he did with his brother
When I make my annual Christmas candies- everyone of them get boxes of it- they are the priority when I am making it. Shipping is expensive but love doing it for them and they really look forward to it.

Barbara, although plenty of people in our general area did feel the earthquake, we weren’t among them. Our home is built on the side of a mountain so we don’t really feel them anyway. Our only indication would be a loud “thump”, got one of those ten or so days ago when we had a small quake. There is blasting going on nearish us, close enough to hear the thump but too far away to hear the blasting signals, so anything during the day we would just write off as that.
Debbie so sorry to hear that your ex mil passed. Really does not sound good for current mil, but that may be not such a bad thing, I’m sorry to say.
Rebecca, sorry for the loss of your aunt. In regards to the cousin whose political opinion differs from yours you could do what a friend of mine in a similar situation does. When the others start trying to talk politics she puts her hand up, in the stop position, and tells them that since neither side is going to change their minds, the subject should just be dropped.
Michele, I used to clean house for a living and I absolutely HATED doing bathrooms with tile in the showers! The grout was always a pain. We have one piece seamless surrounds which don’t go all the way to the ceiling and they are great! We do have bathroom fans that are run for at least 20 minutes after showers and an air circulating system that helps remove moisture in the air so have not had any issues with the drywall that isn’t covered by the surround.

I’ve been trying to cut down on spending, did very well in Jan so thought I’d try for feb as well. Doing stuff like shopping out of the fridge and cupboards and not buying stuff we didn’t need. Well, we went to our optometrist and both needed to get new glasses. That blew the budget completely out of the water!! It was a need, but….. but I’ve checked the freezer, we are good for protein for awhile, going to try and see if march is kinder to the bank account, lol. Of course, since I decided that, our kettle decided to pack it up. It worked great for the last ten years or so, don’t know why it couldn’t just keep on going…. Sigh. Managed to find a nice one for about $40, so pleased about that.
I’ve noticed talk on here about egg prices lately and wanted to report that I bought a flat of eggs (2 1/2 doz) for $10.19 a few days ago. That price has been fairly stable for awhile now.
Must go, no gym today, just can’t stand the thought of the elliptical, but it’s a beautiful sunny day out there so I’m going for a walk instead. Bought a rebounder a few weeks ago and have been bouncing around on it for at least 20 minutes in the evenings. Good to get up off my butt for a bit, lol!!
    Carla, happy belated birthday!

Hugs to those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the new gals!

Rita- having the option of just moving across the park or to the other park that needs you sound like great and easier options than some of the others you have talked about. It really would be nice if you could just leave for the two weeks but not move your trailer but I understand why now.
