Debbie--Sorry to hear about your former MIL.
Had phone interview today with a local bank. Said they will let me know by the end of next week. DH goes back to doctor tomorrow so see what they say about him going back fulltime.

Wowsa, I found gentle rain sounds on YouTube this afternoon and promptly crashed on the couch! Man, sipping coffee just trying to snap out of natures white noise trance!
Just made lasagna hamburger helper, with hamburger and a couple spicy Italian meatballs. Should be good. I will just have a bit, with one cheesy bread, and some cottage cheese.💖👍🏼

Vicki-beautiful granddaughter!
Well got call from Doctor this evening. After chatting about me (and sharing lung scans) with several of his colleagues, the surgeon says he believes the growing tumor is in a good position to remove with robotic surgery. He is thinking to remove it before it has a chance to grow into some part of the area (I can't picture it yet). It would also provide opportunity to get definitive biopsy that it is the cancer we think it is. I find myself intrigued and told him to make the referral. I want to learn more about this.
Off to bed. Have a late day at work tomorrow-have to go to a dinner that should be pretty boring. I will save calories for a dessert!
Take care all,

Did a Total Body DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Real Fitness DVD
Debbie – I’m so sorry to read about your ex-MIL. Sounds like she was a real lovely lady
Rebecca – love the haircut
We ordered the shower head etc, towel rack, handtowel rack, the grabrail, the bathroom sink faucet, the hooks for above the towel rack, tp holder. Still need to place the order for the tiles
Sarah – I tell you, no matter what I do, I can’t seem to get rid of this “Pooch”. Ever since I turned 65, it’s been pronounced, more so than before. Ah well….. On the bright side – I’ve really gotten to the point where I am comfortable with my body
Was taking a walk and saw one launch. Another one just went up, I totally lost track of the time or I would have gone outside to see it. When we first got here in the middle of Feb. we read that there’d already been 21 launches. Heck, it was only a bit over 40 days into the year!
Flea – about parenting, we do the absolute best we can and pray. It’s been over 10 years since I’ve seen Bryan and probably that long since I’ve spoken to him. One day he may know how much I love him. I know that I’ll never see his son. So glad things worked out for you
Margaret – you always have such informative posts. Thank you for them
Rita – I don’t understand the “rule” either
Evelyn – we’re thinking that since this is FL with the high high humidity (especially in summer), having exposed drywall could pose a problem
Tamz – WB!!!
Vicki – finger crossed for you
Ginny – wishing only the best for you
Earlier today laid out in the sun (Yea) then went to the ceramics place here and Vince modified the placque, picked up a piece I needed, then went to HD and Lowe's
Michele
who is sorry she missed this launch but at the rate Musk is going, is sure she’ll see another real soon8 -

We/I am currently looking for a rental house or duplex to move to. If we can’t find one we like/afford, we will move to another State Park to continue our search. Our goal is to purchase a rent-to-own house.

Do read the pros and cons around rent to own properties. It's not the route I would go because of the high costs. I would be more inclined to rent and put the difference away in savings.

Sorry about Brownie.
We have cuttlefish in the water around Australia and sometimes find the cuttlefish bones washed up on the beach.
Tracey ... congratulations on your graduation! I attended all my grads and have kept all my grad caps. I have a plate holder for them all. There's just something about a grad ceremony that makes it worthwhile for me.
Carla ... Happy Birthday!Lisa I look forward to weeks with little on calendar, but it seems like they keep filling up!Kylia
I hear you ... I'm constantly booking up my weeks about 3 weeks out now. I look forward a few weeks and think "Ah good, that week looks fairly empty", and a few days later it fills up.
This week and next week are absolutely chockers, but despite that, I had a sudden all-day work conference yesterday (Wednesday) and had to organise for my husband to attend an online meeting at the same time for our Brain Injury Association, as well as getting the meeting slides. I had wanted to attend the Brain Injury meeting but just couldn't be in two places at once.margaretturk wrote: »Lanette I just read this on one of my feeds in Gmail...I liked how it puts a plan into a habit you are trying to create.
Our brains need 3 main things to make a new habit actionable.
1) A time
2) A specific place
3) Duration
So, instead of saying, "I want to meditate today."
You say, "Today, at 9 am, I'm going to meditate on the couch for 20 minutes."
Do you feel the difference between the 2? Rather then it being a task to happen at an arbitrary time, it's a very clear task that can be plugged into your calendar.
SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound
I'm much more likely to do something if I ...
- put it on my calendar with a bit of detail. Writing it down with some steps to accomplish it and setting up a reminder significantly increases the chances of doing something.
- make it a habit by doing it every day at the same time (like climbing stairs at work).
- have a goal and need to do certain things to reach that goal.Snowflake1968 wrote: »Ginny - my youngest prefers crew neck too. I am claustrophobic and it seems to be getting worse instead of better, the crew neck feels like it’s choking me. I used to love turtlenecks! I don’t know how!
Barbie - loving am trying to convince DH to take advantage of some of the places that use 60 for a seniors discount. He was vocal in telling me to be quiet about the “senior citizen crap”, I told him he earned those discounts and he should take advantage of them.
Have a great night

Almost all my clothes used to have high necks, but anything above my collarbone now sets off my hot flashes.
My plan for the near future is to go through all my clothes and get rid of everything with high necks.
When my husband first turned 65 (the youngest age that senior's discounts will apply here), he was reluctant to speak up to get the discounts. But a few years have passed and he gets a lot of the discounts now.Ginny brava for walking! Yes to train trip through the Canadian Rockies, something I’ve always wanted to do.
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD
Barbara and Ginny ... last year, my husband and I decided to start doing train rides. We'd been watching them on TV for years, it was time to do something about it!
We thoroughly enjoyed the Indian Pacific last year and have our eye on another one this year. However, the timing will depend largely on my husband's Achilles tendon and the recovery process. So I haven't booked anything yet.
This year will hopefully be a continuation of last year ... doing things we haven't done before but have wanted to.Many of you know that I've gone almost nowhere for the last five years. Today I went to WalMart to find something that I thought they had. I was overwhelmed with decision fatigue just looking at all the aisles and products. They didn't have what I was looking for and I was glad to get out of there.

I often check the website first before going to look for something and actually, more recently, I've been ordering things online rather than bothering with the shops.
And finally ... I don't think of myself as old.I'm a young, active and very busy 57 year old. I'm working in a technical computer field that is probably more largely populated by younger people. I know for a fact that I'm the oldest one in my team, by at least 7 years but aside from the fact that I've got grandchildren, we all get along as though we were pretty much the same age.
The only thing that really makes me feel old sometimes is my feet. Arthritis sucks. And I really need to find a shoe solution for my longer walks.
One of the things I want to do this weekend is to find my carbon fibre insoles and my orthotics.

On walking ...
My work is doing 6 Weeks of Wellness, and as a part of that, I'm on a team and we're counting our steps. I don't usually count my steps but I have discovered how many kilometres I need to walk in order to reach 10,000 steps.
I need to walk 7.5 km to equal 10,000 steps!! That's 4.66 miles.
I can manage 5 km during my lunches, and I do a bit of walking around the office, up and down stairs, between bus and office, and a bit around the house which adds another 1-2 km, but I'm coming in just shy of 10,000 steps.
However, even just shy of 10,000 steps, I'm slowly but surely losing weight.
I'm impressed with those of you who are walking 7.5 km / 4.66 miles each day. That's a decent time commitment (1.5 hours). No doubt it helps your weight loss/maintenance!
I've been trying to grab extra little walks here and there when I can. After work today, I did a quick 0.8 km after the bus deposited me at my car just to get my steps up closer to 8000.

Hi, kiddos,
Lawyer this afternoon, regarding obtaining the crackhouse in front of ours, trying to get myself going to accomplish SOMEthing this morning. Only halfway through my first cup of coffee - after it's done, I'll get on the elliptical for at least 12 minutes - that will get my blood moving, most likely. Need to jump in the shower before I go - my hair is just flat as a pancake. And speaking of hair:
Rebecca - LOVE the haircut. It suits your face and smile. I genuinely think short haircuts are more flattering - but then I would, having had my hair short the vast majority of the years since I was in the military myself - so... 45 years? And probably 40 of that, my hair's been short. Life is just easier with short hair.
Ginny - The robotic tumor removal sounds very, very interesting. Would be nice to remove one worry, especially while you're still set up completely with current insurance, etc., before you retire.
Mo - Watched the video - I know the damage had to be heartbreaking for you. Did it help to see it restored beautifully? I thought they did a really good job with the flip on the inside.
Vicki - Your granddaughter is beautiful - mine will be 10 years old in March, and the time just got away somehow! Many good thoughts for the job with the bank. (I wrote "bank job" first, but that sounds like I'm encouraging a crime! 😂😉 I think I'm watching too many CSIs lately. 😶)
Back to my inability to deal with dates, I had the video scheduled incorrectly for tomorrow instead of today, so I scrambled over and got that published and live for viewing. Need to go cut a 90 to 120-second short video out of it and get that put up, won't take much to get that done.
Med stuff:Not sure I mentioned that the thyroid tests came back. Bumping my meds back in January has them all back to normal, free T3, free T4 and TSH. TSH was showing hypothyroid in December and the other two were fine. My VA doc did a good job of bumping the levothyroxine up from 75 to 88 and not going overboard and pushing me into going hyperthyroid. My hands are still cold, but we're just going to chalk it up to old house, old hands. Ah well. Exercise should help. 😂😉🐈⬛
OK - If I'm going to do anything this morning, I need to get moving...
Love y'all!

Mo ... So sad to see how a home can fall into disrepair ... but they did a very nice flip!
Received another produce box ... a "regular" for $25 (instead of last week's large/$34) and I added farm eggs for $6.This week's box has organic gold potatoes, a small watermelon that was cut?? and I'm not sure about the taste, a zucchini, blueberries, a red and green pepper, 3 cooking onions, 1 large carrot and 2 celery ribs, 2 grapefruit, 7 bananas and a pomegranate. The trick is to use use or freeze things before they rot.

Hi everyone,
My friends told me that the guy had wild parties and was not very good at caring for the property. Seeing holes in the bathrooms' floors and the tiles removed was disheartening. When I flew to CA, I noticed that my mom had changed the locks and taken over. My mother said he is going to college and needs a place to live. Her friend's nephew, Matt, lived there for 11 years rent-free. We had to pay him $15,000.00 to move out so Tarek could take over(DH's idea). I thought Matt had no choice but to move when my dad's house property was sold. My mom did that on purpose, just a last screw you to my dad and I. She left when I was nine and never lived there or paid a mortgage on the house. Legally, she had the right to do it, 'cause her name was on the house. She bought her own home from someone else. Her partner had a gambling problem, so they sold the house. It was all so ugly in the past.
Beth, I wonder why they cut the watermelon. Otherwise, it looks great.
Matchka, Arthritis is tough. I took a break from working out this week because of my hip. Walking on one Orthotic did me in. I have Salonpas on my right hip. I genuinely believe that I need to continue working out. Sitting and lying down all day is my enemy. I need to keep moving. I was having upper respiratory issues, too. Now that I feel better, I will walk Rose on the trail. I think the same is true for Rose. That is today's plan. Thank you for your inspiring post.
Margaret, thank you for your words of hope. Diet is essential for our brains, and I also need to care for my liver. I love your beautiful pink flowers. They help me look forward to spring.
I want to go to the Farmer's Market this year and get fresh produce.
Vicki, your granddaughter is lovely.
Michelle, it sounds like you and Vince are getting much work done. I hope you are having fun, too.
Ginny, this robotic tumor removal sounds interesting, as Lisa said. Can they take pictures of it so you can see it? How long will it take to get the results of the biopsy? Can they remove it all, including the boarders and lymph nodes involved? What is the treatment plan?
Pip, you can start a business training dogs. Now, people leave their puppies to get trained for a month.
Lisa, are you and DH thinking about buying that crack house to make it something substantial?
Kylia, I hope you are having a better day. I wonder if my mom's exposure to secondhand smoke has accelerated her dementia. I blow bubbles at work when I feel stressed out, which helps. Maybe you can try it, too. I tend to eat about it.
Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Did some editing. I'm very near the end now. Next job is formatting. I always use my previous books' format to copy it into, bit by bit. When all that's done I will be writing a final chapter to sum it all up. I'm currently editing a chapter about how seemingly small decisions can make a big difference.
'You never know where the ripples will stop'.
I also washed my hair. I have no idea why I put it off! I love clean hair.

Machka in OzYou are absolutely right. After five years of pandemic and guarding my husband's health, I tried doing something I hadn't been doing. I was reminded of how much I don't like going into stores. I won't do that again. Later that day I found what I wanted on a familiar website and will order it today.

John pronounced my mushroom risotto 'fantastic'. It's one of his very favourite meals.
I've just ordered some more dried porcini, without which it would be a poor shadow of itself. I always do the prep after lunch, so it only takes 15 mins in the evening.
I do that for most meals, but I would definitely not have the energy for this later in the day.

I know. My thought was upon retirement, I was going to train dogs at the local spca with basic commnds, walking on leash, sit , lay down, stand, leave it, so they could then be more adoptable. Now that I’ve been retired, I don’t even have time for that. Lololol
