I'm glad it isn't just me that reads the words and can't take it in! Thought I'd just wait and see! It's times like this that I feel my age!!

You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before

    32, 5'5"
Goal: bulking - minimize fat gain, maximize muscle gain

    Day, Weight, Comment
    3/02 - 167.6
    3/03 - 168.6
3/04 - 166.9 - Well then. I did switch up the tracking from lower carb to balanced because I was struggling to feel full on so few carbs and couldn't quite hit my fat goal without just chugging olive oil by itself (ick). I think carbs like my sweet potatoes and oatmeal are more likely to keep me full. Plus, it was hard to add in additional fiber when I was already over on carbs - now I should be able to manage and hopefully not feel so ravenous. With that said, though, I was well over on fats yesterday and barely hit my carb goal (I was over on carbs and just under on fats when I made the switch - I was planning today out and realized I couldn't do it given the meals I had prepped). Today looks much more doable. It's nearly lunch and I'm not all that hungry so I'm feeling a lot more confident in this setup I have. Gym this morning was good and glad to be back into routine. I did struggle a bit more waking up but I was up a lot last night due to the horrendous winds making the entire house shake but managed to get moving relatively easy. Glad it wasn't a nightmare trying to wake up and go after a week of sleeping in!

    Previous Day's Comments
3/02 - Not at all what I was expecting! I figured I'd be up after all the food I ate yesterday. I logged to the best of my ability and was well over in every aspect (I would've been over on my bulk macros/calories, too, if I was still at that level!) I guess my body needed it. Alas, it is logged and we'll see how bad the damage is tomorrow when the app does my check in. Meal prepping and homework today (BF is doing his homework, I'm simply editing/reading through for clarity). Hopeful for this week since I'm feeling better. Tomorrow will be awful with the early wakeup after a week of sleeping in, but I know the gym will be better for me. Also best not linger in the laziness or I'll lose momentum and struggle to get back to that routine.

    ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND 196.4

    03/02-195.4-(Trend Weight: 196.5)-

03/03-195.4-(Trend Weight: 196.4)- I know what I did under the veil of darkness last night (snack-wise) so I am happy with my weight staying the same. My trend weight even dribbled down a bit. I also know I need to increase my exercise. My lack of true movement has been ridiculous. I’m not making excuses, but I spent a lot of time in the past months just sitting (or laying down) with my friend Diane as she bravely fought her cancer. She’s in heaven now and it’s time for me to refocus. I still feel ready to do that, even after more emotional eating last night. I am grateful for MFP and all the support from all of you here. My actions need to better reflect that. My BHAG looms front & center. Bring it on!

03/04-195.6-(Trend Weight: 196.3)- I’m still eating way too fast which causes me to eat more as I try to fill in a specific time frame that feels normal to me. Growing up I was one of 6. And three of them were brothers who all grew to 6 feet tall. One is 6’5”. It was grab and eat or get none. But I think the biggest influence was my factory job at age 18 when the breaks were short (15 min) and the walk to and from the break room was long. Shovel that snack in! I smoked back then too and had to have time for the cigarette as well. I’m turning 65 this year and old habits are still hard to break. I think I would eat less, especially the snacks, if I would just slow down. When I swallow it whole, I need two protein bars instead of one! This is what I will be working on in the coming days. I hope it will make a difference. My meals, while eating too fast, are still good because it’s a PLATE of food. Those snacks, however, are small. It’s too easy to double up. I’m not a pig, I’m a human. I need to act like one. T-Minus 0.2 on my birthday goal with 9.8 lbs to go by May 10th.

    @judefit1 What a great pic!

To Everyone: Thanks so much for the kind words and condolences. It is light in a darkness. It is comfort where, otherwise, there would be none.

Still dealing with the crud, but yesterday I managed to get some decent movement in. I’m trying to up the protein a tad bit. We will see if that changes things up a bit. Happy with this morning’s number, now if I can just hold onto 🤪

    🎷 66 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 289(my 219th). So grateful as always @Quiltingjaine.

    So here we go again, I’m just keeping plugging away! New round, this time I need to stop playing around & take it more seriously, I am not in maintenance & I want to get back to where I should be. I will be taking something forward from @Chapter_3 (yet again) if I may "We should be strategically engaged with our lives each day, right?! That’s my word… ENGAGED." " I will try to keep that word ENGAGED in my mind over these new 10 days & also remember that I am the driver of my life & not the passenger. My goal for this round is to get back to 139s. I need to be diligent as only 3-5 days per round staying on the wagon is not sufficient to get me back to where I want to be & then relaxing for the last 2/3 is not acceptable! I want to stay strong, walk the walk as well as talk the talk! & make the round a successful one. So, goals for this round;

First and foremost, no feeding frenzies – I am not a shark or even a piranha!

to weigh less at the end of the round than the start be happy because I feel that I have made the round count at the end

I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.

    [Spoiler]

Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, it’s taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.

Updated 20.08.24 – I met up with youngest DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info 😞. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available. This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to overindulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so I must not jeopardize that luck.

3/1 DNW - taking yesterday's number as end of round weight as came away in the caravan so no scales. Feel better about myself this morning after the 'downer'; was totally engaged with every mouthful yesterday, need to continue to drive for a healthy life. 0.4 pound gained this round. I'll catch up with the posts later.

Is today the day that MFP changes? I've had to change all the spacing of the lines on my post this morning after I copied from my holding document ?? And my 'spoiler' marks don't work either? Makes my post exceptionally long!!

I enjoy reading everyone’s posts with my morning coffee.

    Highest weight 242 lbs
    Lowest weight 142 lbs (2019)
    Re-start JGMTD Feb 2024 @ 204 lbs

    Round 288 End Weight 178.4

    03/02 178.4
    03/03 177.6
    03/04 DNW

03/05 177.6 Pleased with this! I had lunch with a gardening friend and we took a little walk to see what’s poking up in her neck of the woods. Not much yet but we had fun being outside.

Also there are not many options for lunch in those woods. I knew this going in and had prepped for the calorie bomb. I ordered a taco salad, folks this was nachos! Taco salad isn’t exactly a healthy option to begin with but I had been counting on a nice big pile of crispy iceberg lettuce. Bahahaha this was a bowl of chips with a garnish of shredded lettuce.
I rolled with it, the country cafe is not a place to take a stand for my health. Also I was enjoying the company. A few delicious nachos wont kill me.

I did feel a bit guilty tossing my large to go box after. I dislike wasting food.

I had to put in extra effort and will power to adjust my evening eating. But I did it, it didn’t kill me. I didn’t starve to death without my evening snack. I need to remind myself of that.

I’m taking a young friend to a trampoline park today. What am I thinking???? lol I’m thinking I need to find my wrist guards!!!

I clicked the little paragraph symbol to the left of the text window, went to the quotation mark button to the right.

The thing I can't yet figure out is how to edit my "word" holding document so the spoiler will be in place without going back in after pasting and making a spoiler. I think that function may be gone.

    RWD289 #59
    #ENGAGED #DRIVER#HSF #FINISHEACHDAY💪🏻

    SW RND 289 ⚖️131.8

The next 10 days, I will focus on mindset & reflection. I will deploy healthy habits.

    *********************
    JGMTD

    Daily: 🏆Nutrition (ALL: IF, cals, macros, Pg )🙆‍♀️15min🚶‍♀️10k, 💗Z2 60min, 💦 80oz. 🏋️‍♀️(5x)

    *******************

    activities = actual day
    Daily = morning reflections

    *********************

    3/1 131.6 🚶‍♀️💓🏆

    Onward!

    **Previous Daily**

    *********************
3/2 ⚖️⬆️⬇️ same 2-3lbs. I want 128-130 as my range. By re-focusing on daily habits/commitments, the ⚖️ will range lower. Remember my WHY! My why is to “age younger” maintaining strength, balance, flexibility, and agility - enjoying daily activities with my hubby & grandchildren!

🏆 Nutrition is key. That’s where the scale is controlled… In the kitchen! Movement is for health & wellness.

Back to measuring 💦🙆‍♀️🏋️‍♀️ because those habits slacked-off the entire month of Feb. 🚶‍♀️💓 better but not 💯daily. The birds are singing! Spring is on its way!

NSV: I’ve logged 605 days in a row!

She is BACK! Let’s do this together. Good luck!

3/3 a “very good gal” day.  The first day of many, many more to come.🏋️‍♀️ & 🚶‍♀️today!  What made yesterday different? Reflection, discipline & my inner-cheerleader. Assumed and Engaged my “#HSF identity” all day, long.  Journaled. And…. Fought through the “kitchen wondering”… quieting my negative inner voice and shifting thought patterns… to #HSF Again! (the whistle is still taped on the cabinet!)

Today, I have meetings with two city councilmen. (Will walk). That project is going well - sleeping better and OCD has subsided.  (so far so good.)

And…. It’s Mardi Gras season, which I haven’t mentioned yet… Purple, green and gold, masks, beads, music everywhere - means king cakes are out in full force, but I have resisted.

One piece, just one taste of that sugary delicious poison, and you’re done for! NO ONE can take just one bite so 🚫 to just one bite!

“You can make it if you really want but you must try. Try and try, try and try!” That song was in my head all day long yesterday probably today too!

3/4 Laissez les bons temps rouler 💜💚💛 Let the good times roll!

It’s plain ol’ Tuesday where you live but it’s FAT TUESDAY here!

All that cheer aside,  we really don’t celebrate Mardi Gras in this house … I plan on handing out flyers and getting petition signatures working the parade if weather holds out…. Terrible storm - expecting 60 mph winds… I feel badly for those who love Mardi Gras and who celebrate - especially all the children! Many are hoping they can get in the parade before the storm so we shall see.

Lundi Gras yesterday- (Monday before Mardi Gras). Our little town has another tradition with King of Mardi Gras, arriving by boat @ our park & second-lining to our historic hotel downtown. Couple of hundred folks, jazz bands. Great music. Gorgeous weather. Fun. I got my 🚶‍♀️10k yesterday that way. Today will be thousands stretching the main drag, which we will avoid… when the parade circles to the neighborhoods is where I’ll work the petition…. That’s the plan anyway, but let’s see if the weather cooperates.

Many celebrate with tailgate parties, food, drink, costumes… ALL DAY. I do enjoy watching the children -“throw me something mister”.  Our town hosts “Family Gras” after the parade… With bands and more food and family fun & games …. This may cancel due to the forecast.

Me? I had a great day yesterday 🏋️‍♀️ 30 min & 💦… hit macros (115Pg) - ate at maintenance. I was hoping for kcals deficit but enjoyed hi pro yogurt & fresh berries @ 7pm…. Portion control always my battle… I truly love to eat. ‼️Reenter: the “fuel” mindset‼️

NSV: through breathing, stretching, and walking (& prayer) I’ve been able to break the constant rumination. It’s still simmering, but no longer in the foreground dominating.  Health is winning (for now).

    3/5 DNW - Will ⚖️ with a good night sleep…

Yesterday was perfect until … hubby and I went out for an ice cream cone after dinner… Que Delicioso!  Moose Tracks-never disappoints. (made it through Mardi Gras season without king cake or over indulgence… But OOOOOh that last indulgence before Lent… ) Back on track today!

Read an interesting article yesterday about stress/cortisol and the negative impact on health. Our nervous system is just as important as other systems… And is often neglected. My sleep avgs approx 6hrs per night - needs attention. I know I need more to be at my optimum each day.

    Onward!

    1. I just discovered that when I hit the quote button on your post, I do not have an open to go in and clear out/edit parts of your post. 😕 That just exacerbates the long post problem. (I am so glad I got to use that big word)
    2. You may be right about spoilers.

Mods to my usual post here. I took out the spoilers and other BBCode until I can figure it out.

    Male: 67

    6’-2”

    OSW: 237.8 (Nov. 2016.) I was actually at 250 in 2011 or so…

OGW: 199 (just to say I did)

    Maintenance Range Goal: 200-205

Simple Goal for this round : Start treating my OGW like a REAL PROJECT with the future of “the company” on the line.

    Round 289 Posts

    This is my posting format….

Month/Day: Scale Reading - First thing today after bathroom visit before getting dressed. / Comment

    3/1/25 : 232.0 SW a day before.

    3/2: 229.4

Thanks for allowing me the rant yesterday. And thanks for the encouraging words. Even chapter_3 😊

I had a molecule of self-control yesterday. Before I pound my chest like king kong I will remember what skyleen75 wrote… “I tell myself “weight loss isn’t linear” when I’m dealing with daily ups and downs…“

I won the battle of March 1. Now, onward with the war. Don’t fear the upticks and lost battles. No single battle will lose the war.

    3/3: 230.0

I need to lock it down today!

DW made some yogurt in the Instant Pot Saturday. My new breakfast anchor for the rest of this round. She hasn’t done it in a while, but when she did I was in a losing mode.

    3/4: 230.6

OK I am a bit confused because I thought yesterday was a lock down. I ate right and exercised well. Food was kinda carby. Logged it all. Group class at the gym in the morning and a nice bike ride in the afternoon. Worked up a sweat at both. Sat at the car dealer yesterday around noon for an oil change with free movie theater style popcorn 5 feet away and didn’t eat one kernel.

Chalk it up as a bump in the road. “It’s only a flesh wound.”

DW and I watched a Les Misérables concert on PBS Sunday night. Such a great story. Such great music. Fantastic performers. All about my favorite book. So, yesterday I decided to read it again after 30 years. I read it on the train, to and from work, in another life. To say Victor Hugo grinds the character development is a gross understatement. I guess if your going to fill 1500 pages you need to write about something! HA! This could take a while.

    3/5: 229.6

Good luck to all as we find a new normal.

    SW - 175.8

    GW - 155

    Backstory

    [Spoiler]

In 2022 I was around 157lbs with 24% bf. Was definitely in the “best shape” of my adult life then.  Since then I started a new career working from home as a developer. Have moved away from my family for fiancés job. We’ve moved several times to various states in a short time span. So far we’ve moved 3 times, all about 9 months apart. Welcomed two puppies into the mix. Lots of changes. Lots of time spent at home. Lots of time spent away from family. Fell out of touch with friends. All of the adjustments and figuring out how to manage/handle more daily responsibilities and navigate through this phase of life has manifested into me gaining 20+lbs and losing a lot of willpower, motivation, drive, positivity, etc that I once thrived on. Found this challenge and it has been helping me get it back. Nothing is permanent! Looking forward to working through this.

    [/Spoiler]

    Overall Goals and Challenges

    [Spoiler]

    Goals

    1. Focusing on behavior and mindset. Calories have been going way over for so long I need to reel the behavior back in a healthy way.
    2. Don’t give up on the day when it’s challenging. Choose to make good decisions in those moments instead of giving in.

    Challenges

    1. Working from home makes it easy to stress eat or just eat out of boredom/habit.
    2. Sleeping less (have two puppies, a 9mo and a 1yr old) makes it hard to wake up early enough to get a good workout in or at least to feel good awaking up. Feel defeated in the motivation and drive department compared to how I was previously.

    [/Spoiler]

    Daily, Small, Attainable Goals

    [Spoiler]

    1. Finish 1st 27oz water before 2pm
    2. Finish 2nd 27oz water before bed
    3. Alternate standing and sitting at desk every other hour during working hours (or stand at least half of the day).
    4. Hit maintenance calories at a minimum.
    5. -200 cal deficit on gym days
    6. If I go over cals, try to cap it at +200
    7. Weekly deficit of 1300cals.

    Round 289

    March 2 - 11, 2025

62 year old female, 5’5”. I am married, semi-nomadic (we live in three states, Mass, Maine, Florida).

[B]SW WW Sept 29, 2001[/B] - 168.8 (initially lost 29.8, became staff, then weight up and down 18 years with low of 126.8)

[B]SW MFP Sept 14, 2020[/B] – 153 (lost 40, then stress took off another 2.2 lb with low of 120.8, then stress became gain)

    [B]SW MFP Jan 1, 2023[/B] – 146.6

    [B]GW[/B] Maintaining between 124 - 126

    History:

    [spoiler]

Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two “kids”, who are very much adults, a two grandsons. We have two parents, 87(mother), 85(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an “all in or not” person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my mother’s care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

    SW: 135.2

3/2 – 135.2 Totally confused. While I did go to the gym yesterday – Yay! I totally went off the rail late in the day. In fact, this morning I contemplated a DNW as I expected a significant uptick. Anyhow, grateful and I am confident diary will be fine today. Heading out for a group walk shortly.

ALSO, Round 289 is my 100th round since September 2020. Pretty cool. I am also now 2 months from starting MOG dress shopping.

3/3 – 137.2 How? That is not a typo. I weighed and reweighed. I waited an hour, and even changed the batteries, then weighed again. Makes NO sense. Yesterday was good with 5 miles walked, all food tracked and ended in deficit. Might think “payback” for the previous day/night. But even that could have only resulted in a small fraction of a pound. No idea, but obviously disappointed.

DD, SIL and grandsons arrive today for a week. This round will have some challenges.

3/4 – 136.2 Late posting today. DD, SIL and grandsons arrived late yesterday, and hubby flew in from a weekend wedding as well, two hours after them.

Soooo, yesterday started off good and then got more complicated. I did a 5 miles walk, but had it end at the gym. There I did an hour of weights, then walked to the grocery store, bought perishables, and tried to hail a cab as planned (Hubby took the car to the airport – we share one when in florida). Nope on the taxi. So I decided to talk. I did a 1.32 miles farmers carry with 4 bags of groceries. Then proceeded with trying to get ready for guests.

Today, I just did two laps, something like 3.3 miles, and got back to be with family. They made bacon – a challenge for me. Tonight we are going out to dinner. I have that all tracked already. I am pushing to be smart while enjoying family and hoping to somehow end the round at or below that starting weight (I really want to see that “4”).

3/5 – 135.2 So I survived the day. Today, no time for my walking. Heading to the aquarium.
