for the first time, I got on the bike on a Sunday. I saw that he did a small ride so I had to get my 1st place back. I looked him up and I think I’m out of his league. He looks like he’s around my age and looks like he’s a serious biker. I also saw that he has been raising 2 to 4000 dollars for MS which is awesome. I’m 7.42 miles ahead after tonight’s ride.
I found that he lives in Washington (which I thought). The only thing I may have going for me is that I’m retired (I don’t know if he is) and I have a home spin bike. I don’t know if he has to put on his bike gear to get out on the road (weather permitting) or has to go to a gym to get on a spin bike.

Michelle, this is our TP holder in our small hall bathroom. It is not recessed into the vanity, but it is screwed into the side of it. If something happens to it, we can just patch the holes and paint the cabinet or screw a new one into the same holes. Since this particular holder does not have that annoying little spring thing, it is much less likely to tear up. As a matter of fact, I can't imagine it ever needing replacing, unless we decide it is out of style or something. Would something like this work?
Allie, I'm so happy you are doing well after your surgery. I needed to read some good new today.
Heather, I think you would be weird if you didn't feel sad about your ex's condition. He is, after all, the father of your children.
I am very sad today. My former next-door neighbor, who used to be a really close friend, is dying. I went to see her in the hospital today, but it she was already in a morphine-induced sleep. It is Stage 4 terminal cancer, but she was only diagnosed on Thursday. She appeared fine on Wednesday and started having trouble breathing on Thursday. Now they don't expect her to make it through the night. I came home from this to news that a 37-year old former student, a favorite of mine, had passed away, presumably from a heart attack. When he didn't show up to church this morning, they went checking on him and found him. I'm just mad about that one. He was the sweetest, friendliest, hardest-working person I've ever known. He helped his father run their family-owned hardware store. Another friend's son saw him Friday and said he wasn't his usual self, kind of grouchy and out of sorts. I'll bet he was feeling sick then and just didn't tell anyone.
I may or may not have had key lime cheesecake and a Diet Dr Pepper. It seemed called for. And the kind of day where posting a picture of my toilet seems somehow appropriate.

My hair wasn't long but I could put it in a ponytail. It feels so much better, and its nice to be able to wash it with a washcloth to reactive the mousse' I have on it! I have it short on the sides and longer up top.

Barbara- the dessert with the candle is called lalmohan. Little fried doughnut type balls in a simple syrup.
First time trying all of it. I could really go for another bowl of their lentil soup.

Allie - I sure hope your kids step up to help you. You do so much for them.
Rosemarie - I was thinking about making lasagna this week too. Great minds.
Lisa - I think you and Corey do wonderful work.
Carol - Divorcing after 37 years must have been an agonizing decision. Rodger and I will be married 38 this June. I can’t imagine it. Literally, as I’ve tried to picture it a few times.
Heather - Glad you heard from your ex and you feel some relief.
Rita - thank you for the pictures of the gum balls and monkey puzzle tree.
Lisa - your room is so nice and bright.
Tina- Plantar Fasciitis has been bugging me for almost two years now. It started in my right foot and is now in my left. I think my left has been more painful than my right and seems harder to get under control.A spike up through the heel sounds accurate. Like Michele, I thought it was a callous at first.
Carla - I like being where the action is too when I’m crafting. I quit for a long time because of it. Just took it up again last year really.
Re - i bet you’ll get rid of your set quickly.
I have a story about a horse chestnut tree. My Dad’s eldest niece was very close in age to my dad and they were more like siblings than Uncle and Niece as my Aunt helped raise my Dad. Anyway they remained the best of friends and Dad went to her house every morning for coffee. She had been looking all over for a horse chestnut and Dad found one when he was visiting my other Aunt in Nova Scotia so he surprised my cousin with it. They planted it together and researched how to get it to grow and worked together to keep this tree going for about a dozen years. My Dad passed in Dec 2012 and the following spring that tree bloomed for the first time. My cousin swore up and down that Dad did that for her. Then tree never made it through the next winter, she was so upset.Allie - I was thinking of Annie and Penny recently as well.
Pip - you’re doing so well.
Kay - Sorry about your neighbour and your former student.
I went to Kaitlyn’s today. I had car problems about 20 minutes away from home so turned around and came back to get DH’s truck. So I was almost an hour later than o planned on. We went for a splurge at Dollar Tree and then I went grocery shopping with her.
She started planning meals the last few months and has such a good system going I may adopt it.
She told me that they met with the genetics specialist this past week and they don’t need to do gene testing on Rodger or I. The next step in their fertility treatment is another egg retrieval. I asked her when they were doing it and they have decided not to tell anyone until they are sure they have a healthy prognosis. She said it upsets her every time she has to update people and she’s not doing it this time. I agree with her for her mental health and what’s best for her that way, but as her mother I am sad I won’t be there to support her when I know it’s tough days.It was a mix of rain and snow today, it wasn’t a fun drive home, but I made it. Thankfully it was only the last 20 minutes of the trip that was awful.
I’m watching American Idol now, then heading to bed very soon.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes!
Allie – glad to hear that your surgery was a success. Now take care of yourself!
Rita – your pictures loaded just fine the first time.
Rosemarie – it’s sort of funny. You’re trying to revive your lawn, I’m trying to kill mine off. I like that photo of my bicycle and the beach too. 😊 That beach is about 8 km from where we live. I’ve been thinking about making a nice big lasagne and cutting it up into portions for several meals … but I’ve never made a lasagne before!!
Vicki – older employees are very valuable. Make sure to emphasise your value as an older employee! And remove anything from your resume that clearly shows your age.
Lisa – your half bath looks great!
Re – well done on the weight loss and clearing out the master bedroom. What are you planning to do with the room?
Way back when people used smelling salts made from ammonia, and yes, apparently a sniff of isopropyl alcohol can be used to reduce nausea. I’ll have to remember that.
I’ve got hip-length hair and I do cut it to a little shorter than waist-length about once a year. If I didn’t, it would be knee-length in no time! And no, I have no plans to cut it shorter than that. When my hair was short, it was such a pain to deal with. My long hair is much easier.
Heather – we’ve got 3 trollies something like the black one you posted. One has our bee stuff on it. I’m hoping my husband will put his tools on another one. I want to put some of my art stuff on the third. I’m glad to see Edie is up for doing practical stuff around the house.
I’ve been reading some new books (mostly mysteries) recommended by Goodreads and Libby to try them out and see if I like them. I figure it might help keep me up to date.
Pam in WA – welcome here! Keep up the determination!
Debbie – sorry about Okie. I’m glad you got to do a few things you wanted to do for your birthday!
Tracey – Love the pictures of the Northern Lights!
Lanette – I work with health costing. The prices of things don’t surprise me.
Peggy – welcome here! This is a good place to find support from and give support to others who are going through the same thing!
Barbara – being “friends” on MFP isn’t a thing anymore. The only way to connect is via the Community. 😊
Hugs to those who are grieving.

Normally, we would have spent a week or so around my birthday going up north to a beach or a very quiet farm stay.
Unfortunately, this time, work is way too busy, I couldn’t take any extra time off. Fortunately, here in Australia, my birthday falls on or around the Labour Day weekend, so I do get one extra day off.
Friday evening, we went out to dinner to a place we’ve never been before. It was all right, but I found the Napoli sauce to be a bit too similar to BBQ sauce. It was also darker than what I expected Napoli sauce to be.
I purchased a small layer cake and 2 lava cakes which we had on Saturday and Sunday nights. They were really good.
Saturday, I cycled my age in kilometres (+1). I need to do more rides of that length. My legs weren’t overly happy once I hit about 50 km. But very pleased I did that.
Sunday, we went to our bee group and I brought a mud cake to share with everyone. In the afternoon, I wielded my mattock and dug out more of the grass that never dies. I have two plants I want to put in that area. It was beautifully hot.
Monday, I had a lovely walk and then a different system moved in and it’s quite chilly and windy out there now. So I’m working on indoor stuff.
So my weight remained the same this week. Cake will do that!

What Margaret said!!! Be firm. Take your time to heal. This is a PRECIOUS gift (not just to you, but to them!)
It is not your time to take care of them. It is their turn to take care of you! I will repeat it again…It is not your time to take care of them. It is their turn to take care of you! This is not selfish it is what you need to heal!Love you girlie!!!😘

Morning, my chickens,
Allie - Still in your pocket as you move toward discharge and going home, but like Kim, I'm keeping my eyes closed in here! 🥰 Take care of yourself for us, girl. We worry. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏼♀️
Re - Well done on the weight loss! And no comment on the long hair, the longest mine ever made it was about to the top of my shoulder blades, but it's so curly, the apparent length was six inches shorter. It tended to go out, not down! When it's short, it's straight, which I much prefer.
A good hairdresser can make a short haircut look good, and give you a cut that will last as long as 90 days, but very few short haircuts look good past that point. I've threatened to grow mine out a number of times, but been unable to get past the "too long to look good, too short to put in a ponytail" phase.
Thank you to everyone for comments on the bathroom. I honestly couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. I'm even happier that Corey's pleased with his own work. Most unusual, very pleased for him that he's proud of what he's done.
Heather - I think you'll be amazed at how much the kids would love to do for you; they just need to know what's needed. They love you dearly.
Tracey - So glad your time with Kaitlyn was worth going for, especially with 20 minutes of slidy driving at the end of the drive back! 😨 Thanks, too, for the update on her progress—I can't imagine how hard those phone calls must have been when they were already grieving. 😔Still in her pocket (and yours!) on this one. Such a long, hard road they're traveled already.
Sue - Love the picture of the crocus! (guessing).
Spring really has sprung here - the little weather weevils are guessing in the 70s for the next two weeks, other than the weekend, which will be a little cooler. This much early spring means an early summer with scorching temps, I'm afraid, but it's not like worrying about it will change it…
Usual Monday morning busy-busy… meds for the week, two loads of laundry, need to get my coffee cup in the dishwasher, have one script 3/4 done and another in progress, and it's time for me to start tracking today. The scale said 163 this morning, and that is definitely going the wrong direction. Doing well on the exercise, though, getting on the elliptical today will make 60 days I've exercised since the beginning of the year, and I didn't start until Jan. 7, so I'm pretty pleased with that.
For the person (Lanette?) who wondered whether Egg approves of the changes in my workroom:
Yes, yes she does.
😽🐈⬛😹
Later, y'all!
Love,

Have you tried dry shampoo? I have almost the same haircut as you and simply love the dry shampoo. Gets rid of any dirt or oils that are there and puts my hair back to the way it should be instead of sticking up all over the place. I don’t currently use mousse, but I think I will try it on the top!
Plantar Faciitis:
When I had this, I had it in both feet, but mine felt like my foot was cramping right in the arch. It felt like nails in the arch. I had several cortisone shots in it and wore a prescription boot at night which caused my calf to cramp like a Charlie horse at night. But if I made it through the Charlie horse and left the boot on all night, my foot would feel better that day. I struggled with it for about a year before no more shots or boots.
Low carb:
I loved doing low carb and lost a lot of weight on that. But on the negative side for me, my cholesterol went through the roof, my allergies to eggs and coconut showed up along with colitis (which I’ve got under control after 2 years with meds that I control.), and my kidneys grew to level 3B liver disease. So I had to stop the low carb, and can’t control my weight now. I loved low carb and wish I go back to it, or adjust it to go along with my current problems. However, eggs and coconut are staples in Low carb. I should work on this and come up with my own version. I have before but have just been too depressed lately and eating my emotions. I’ll post the diet I came up with for me in another post. I’m on the wrong device I think to find it.
Thought of the day:
Why did the scarecrow win an award?
Because he was outstanding in his field! 🐦⬛

Whoopsie! Hey, Re, I'm right there with you on selling things on the marketplace - meeting someone at 4:30 in the WallyWorld parking lot to swap an inflatable hot tub that Corey no longer uses for cash. Just in the first five minutes it was 14 messages back and forth. After those five minutes, have two people interested. Wishing I'd put a higher price on it, now! 😹😉👀 If the first one falls through, I'll fall back to the other. Going to get Corey to meet me there, too, just in case. 'Cause even in rural Arkansas, people can be skanky. It's a busy place, and a lot of people will be nearby, even so.
Later, babies - Need to go do a little wipe-down on it, it's been stored for two years!

Hi ladies!
Heather sent me an email and suggested I pop in, so here I am. Heather is an absolute ROCK!
You may recall that we moved south to northernmost Norway in 2021, but we've just spent four months back at the North Pole. We arrived in mid-November, a couple weeks after the sun had dipped below the horizon, but we still got some twilight in the middle of the day. And the sun officially rose again for the first time two days ago. For me, that timing was perfect! I love the dark season!
Here's what it looked like at noon when we arrived in mid-November
And here was a day with very special light. Yes, it was that purple! That's Jupiter in the middle of the sky.
And here's what it looked like today, when I went for a looooong walk. Now it's the moon hanging in the sky over the same mountain.
We visited some friends back at Christmas and here's their creche:
In Svalbard, it's perfectly normal to put a walrus in the nativity scene.
But now it's time to head back to Tromsø. Must finish packing!

Welcome, Peggy. I’m right there with you. I’ve been trying to lose that gain for 5 years now.
The ladies here are full of wisdom.
Re-on hair…mine has never been super long, but it was down to mid back a few years ago. I got it cut short and have never let it get long again. I like it short. I use headbands to keep it out of my face when exercising or cooking. After I cut it, my mom told me when it was long, it just dragged my face down too. I get compliments when it’s short.
Allie-Keep on truckin’! You’ll be up and running soon!
Tracey-Enjoy your drive and time with Kaitlyn.
Thanks to those who commented for the PF advice. I guess I have to assume that’s what I have and actively pay attention to it. Fortunately, it feels better the more I walk.
Rita-I love your thoughts of the day.
Penny-I think I just saw you pop in while I was typing! Glad to see you!Tina in CA

Michele…this is a picture of how…
I do TP in my downstairs bath at my house and I do something similar at son's. In both homes where the dispenser is the towels can cover up the TP depending on what kind of towels I use. My cousin Petra had something like this at her home and I liked it. I got this small doll chair years ago. I can put it wherever it
fits.I can also put two on the chair so I never run out.

Penny, so wonderful to see you pop in! I have missed your pics, the purple one was especially pleasing.
Tracey, glad you made it to Kaitlyn’s and back again in one piece. Sorry for you that they won’t be sharing egg retrieval dates etc, but do understand it from her end. Love the piggy banks for the twins, so cute! Your ceramics always look so good, professional quality, in my opinion.Allie, I’m in your pocket, but I’m not looking either! I always bring a book for times when I need to be there but not see things….
Katie, so sorry for your bad news. Sending you {{{HUGS}}}
I know there was much more that I wanted to comment on, but it’s not happening today, lol. Please know that I laugh and cry along with every single one of you. Not much happening here today, think I will go do some crafting!
