3/10 - 5.06 walk / run
Total : 8.0 miles
Today's thoughts - Definitely over did it with the workout today😂 Was a lot of walking involved with the "run" could definitely feel the fatigue from trying to run back to back days. Probably should have cut it shorter, but was a nice day today and didn't have anywhere to be so took my time! Felt good to be outside and moving my body again. Looking forward to running more like I used to!

Today was bike day but ran into a tech issue after 32 mins (12.3K) and didn't feel like continuing after I fixed it, so hopped on the treadmill for a 30 min run.

Still feeling under the weather, and thinking I desperately need some new shoes. My right ankle hates walking with a passion, seeing a podiatrist early next month for the first time! Heavily considering starting C25K, also for the first time. I'm sort of floundering on how to increase run times without overdoing it if that makes sense. Right now I can only manage 90 second spurts before I want to keel over. Happy for advice from you wonderful people :)

Great running @Laurz9191 . I used to keep my "fat" clothes, but have given most of them away. I guess I may have a couple I kept, because I like them and can still wear them in a pinch. It helps to have big hips, even when I lose weight, so that skirts and shorts may be lose, but I won't have a wardrobe malfunction. 🤣 I now have a bunch that fit, but haven't been worn in years that I need to get rid of. Just not my style anymore.
Hang in there @WarmJellyfish . As fast as this month is going, you'll be back at it in no time!
Welcome @connor_manning . Of course you can join this group. It is very welcoming and supportive. Looks like a great run for not having run for a while. Just be careful and don't overdo too soon. You don't want a bad case of shin splints.
Great running and love the shoe porn @Mari33a !
@yirara Sorry you had a tough run. Sometimes I feel a lot better after I eat something salty too. I hope the old guy was just friendly and not creepy. I tend to attract the creepy ones. LOL
@ContraryMaryMary I hope you managed to get out and do a nice, slow recovery run.
You did great and sounds like a wonderful weekend @Teresa502 . Love those pictures.
@CaityP27 You are being very consistent, which is the first step to improving both distance and time. If you are only able to manage 90 sec, you are probably trying to run too fast. See if slowing down the pace helps. New shoes might be a miracle worker too. Proper shoes are important. Have you been fitted at a running store, like Fleet Feet? If not, you should consider it. Hope you get to feeling back to your normal self soon.

I went to the gym this morning. Did a little better on the deadlift today - lifted 45# for warm up, one set at 95 pounds and two sets at 105 pounds, 10 reps each. I also did weighted squats, adductor, and leg curls. I'll probably be sore in the morning. (I did get in half a mile walk on the treadmill for warm up.)
Afterwards, mom and I ran some errands and she went to the dentist. When I got home, I ate some peanut butter, rested a few minutes, and then went out for a driveway run. I thought about just doing 2 miles, but wound up going further. It wasn't easy today..my legs were okay, but breathing was difficult. I still managed to do 2.5 miles in 31:20 min. Avg pace was 12:32 min/mile. Avg HR was 145 with a max of 171 bpm. I did step up the pace on the last quarter mile. Splits were 13:02, 12:41, and then the last two quarter mile paces were 12:20 and 10:08 min/mile.

Geeze. I don't know why my post is all under spoilers. I didn't even click on any of those buttons today. Any ideas? Maybe because I copied yesterday's post, which was also under the spoiler and just added to it. I'll get the hang of the new format one of these days……maybe. 🤷

OH MY GOODNESS. Great shoe and puppy porn!!! 😍😍 I have now seen 2 brands of shoes I have not heard of before so my interest is peaked and will have to check them out. The nikes look really comfy also. Not a style I know of. Finally hit over 500 for the year last weekend. Getting up a bit earlier to see if I can keep up the mileage before work but year - DARK again… Ahhh. But the daylight after work is wonderful.

@CaityP27 – I agree with @quilteryoyo that you should try to slow your pace down. I’m a big fan of the C25k program.
Congratulations on hitting 500 miles @SummerSkier!
8 -
@quilteryoyo Great job with the gym routine along with everything else!
I have to agree with @SummerSkier Nothing beats shoes and puppies, although @tarun_yadavA does post nice food pics ;).
@CaityP27 I agree with the others. If it takes slowing it down to make the routine more enjoyable in the beginning, it’s a great idea.
Today I met a friend at the gym. I ran while she walked on the treadmill and we chatted. I did run shorter than I otherwise would have, but we had a very intense weight lifting session after our treadmill time and I am hoping that will make up for the missing 30-40 minutes. After work I got rid of all the clothes I sorted out. No turning back now! I ran 10.1km125.1/300km for March.

I quickly gained 8 lbs after leaving MFP, so I'm back. Back on Strava, too. 🙌 - Sam

You're doing great @kgirlhart .
Congrats on 500 miles already @SummerSkier ! I love it being lighter longer in the evenings.
You're doing great @Zaxa2021 .
You're early morning run is impressive @Teresa502 .
Thanks @Laurz9191 . Congrats on getting rid of the clothes! Great job on the treadmill and the weight lifting sounds hard. I'm sure it made up for the shorter run.
@tri_2_lose_weight I's the queen at yo-yo weight. Just remember. If you lost it once, you can do it again. Welcome to this forum.
@John772016 Yeah for nice weather that "made" you get outside for a run.
You're doing great @Mari33a and @daria0919 .

I went to the gym this morning - arm day. Did inclined bench press, ball slams, pull downs, reverse delts, and back extensions.
After I got home and it warms up just a little more, I did an outdoor (driveway and out the road) wun. I stopped my run at mom's and talked a few minutes, while she was getting weeds out of her flower beds, and then walked home + to get 1.10 miles. The run was at an avg pace of 12:57 min/mile. It was hard to breath for the first mile or so again. It did get better, but I was still a little slower than I have been. I ran 2.6 miles, then a fast quarter mile, and ended with another 0.4 miles. Split paces were: 13:45, 13:14, 12:43, 9:20, and 12:55 min/mile. I ran that fast quarter mile at a pace that I couldn't have kept up for much longer. Pretty pleased with the pace. My avg HR was 131 with a max of 160 pbm.
I spent about an hour this afternoon planning and working on a terrace garden bed. I'm going to make the walls out of leftover rock we had when we built the house. We'll see how that goes. I'll post pictures when I'm done. Probably won't be real soon, so don't hold your breath. 🤣😜
6 -
@Teresa502 way to go on your race 👍💪 I remember you doing that for the last few years. Sounds like a great tradition.
@quilteryoyo you are busy as always! Good luck on building that wall 😁 If anyone can do it, it's you!!
I up'd my game a little… did 3/1 intervals for just about 4 miles. It seemed to go well.

Hey Fellas,
I just succumbed to my urologist beseeching to have a prostate biopsy. I'll hear results in 5-10 days.
How did yours go? Were you running shortly thereafter?
5 -
3/11 - 2 mile run. Pretty slow pace for me at 11:13/mi but I can tell my legs are pretty roasted. I knew I was only going to go a couple of miles today at most. I really want to get a run in every day for the first week or two to try and get on a roll and get some positive momentum going. Tomorrow and the next day may legitimately only be one mile runs depending on how the legs are feeling just to try and get some recovery back.
Total for March: 10 miles

@quilteryoyo @Laurz9191 @Teresa502 Thank you so much for the support and advice. I'm on the hunt for a new pair of shoes. I tried slowing my pace right down for this evenings wun and found I was able to sustain for a little longer. It's not the jelly legs that get me, it's the breathing.
I wanted to see what the difference in my pace was on the way to picking my daughter up vs coming home carrying her. Apparently a fair difference, which is guess makes sense. The way home is also an incline. My other two walks today were just my usual easy walks for school run.
5 -
Thanks! Dropped 2 lbs my first day back. Time to get busy! 🏃💨
4 -
@Teresa502 Congratulations on your race. It sounds like it was great fun!
@John772016 Congratulations on finally getting to run outside even if only for one day! It must have felt weird after a long winter to be actually making ground ;).
Today I went to the gym and met my friend there. We did legs yesterday, so we did arms today. Today was the first day that I did my run (minus a brief warm-up) after weight lifting. It actually went quite ok. I did 15x 1 minute speed intervals, which always is veeeeerrrry tiring, plus a longish warm-up/ cool down. I ran a total of 14.6km.
139.7/300km for March.

Well, shoot. I had a post almost ready to post and hit the wrong button somehow and went to Best Buy's website. I hate it when that happens.
Thanks @Scott6255 . I'm glad your knee is still doing okay.
I hope your test results are good @chris_in_cal .
You're doing great @connor_manning .
Great consistency @brnlow .
Sounds like a great run @kgirlhart .
@CaityP27 It would be hard to carry a child uphill. I'm glad slowing down helped some. With your consistency, that should improve rather quickly.
@Laurz9191 You're doing great with the gym workouts and running! 15 intervals is a lot.

Ok, my wooden shoes just cracked (Dutch saying, meaning I'm speechless). Today running was so easy, my HR was low and my breathing was relaxed. It just worked. Today was meant to be a slow run, and by running slow and relaxed I ran the fastest 5k in ages. That's… odd.
