Allie - Glad to hear they've identified the problem as a UTI - are they going to keep you for a while? Hope the bleeding has stopped for good.
Tracey - angora rabbits in the basement? They are cute little fellas that's for sure. Mine needed constant combing and trimming, but gorgeous. I make a "Lanette Lasagna" at times - it's more like a small recipe of baked spaghetti or other pasta with a lot of ground beef in the sauce. I forgot to pick up Ricotta cheese today. Next time I make it I'll put a dollop of that on top of each portion. I'm like you - photos of fields and combines really tug at my heart too. I didn't realize your work was close enough that you could walk home - glad Rodger came and picked you up. Crossing fingers your car problem is an easy fix.
Re - pre-diabetes kicked my rear in gear a year ago. I'm definitely a sugar addict and it's dangerous for me to keep sweet stuff in the house. I did get a small container of Walmart cheesecake yesterday - first time in months. It was delish. There were 2 servings. I ate one right away and put the other one back for "later" which turned out to be 15 minutes. 😁 I admire your endurance dealing with contractor interviews for the remodel. What all are you having done - adding/redoing a bathroom or new flooring or ???
And did you make that egg wrap? I see recipes for it, might give it a try. Need to whip together some chaffles today.
Carol - sending prayers for a successful surgery for your son! I still laugh when I think about my DH's colon surgery. He had to stay in the hospital until he passed gas. It took a couple days to get that plumbing working again. I was with him in the room when he finally did - his room was across from the nurses station and he yelled "Let the bells ring out, let the people cheer! I just F*rted!" The nurses got a good laugh and the surgeon told him to pack up and go home, LOL.
Machka - thank you for mentioning you use Voltaren on your feet. I might get some yet. There was some reason I wasn't too excited about it - maybe potential side effects. Perhaps it's like most OTC meds similar to how I use ibuprofen for example - use sparingly for acute symptoms.
About the Gene & Barbara Hackman Deaths - I watched a thought-provoking video concerning the death of the Hackman's and why they went so long without being discovered. The presenter made some valid points - we can't always assume a caregiver is in good shape! Barbara Hackman died of Hantavirus and Gene was left alone for many days. For couples where one of them is the caregiver and even older folks who live alone like me, it's important to have someone checking in with us often. I make sure to message T in the morning and at the end of every day and most times she messages back unless she's tied up. Often just 2 sentences of what I did with a "nightie night." All of this has me thinking about our Annie.
Bungee exercising - wish my gym had THIS! 😁
Got my DEXA results back. Still losing a bit of bone density, pretty much to be expected as I age I guess. Was hoping to at least stop the loss with my walking, but that was not to be. Barbara - I think you were following the supplement recommendations of the COMB Study? If so, have you had a DEXA scan to see how you're faring? Ginny, you might have been doing so as well? I ordered some Strontium Citrate 680 mg tablets to add to my supplement regiment. I think I'm pretty well covered in most of the others.
If anyone is interested, here's the study again:
I started this yesterday, better get it posted!

😀 Thanks for the kind words about my sweater. The photo was taken about 15 years ago. My hair is longer and I look older but I still wear the sweater on cold days in the winter. It's merino wool and very warm.
😀 Allie, glad you are being cared for properly.
😀 I got a lovely reply from a recipient of one of the boxes I mailed. It confirmed to me that sending things was a great idea. There are still six more boxes in transit and three more to pack and send.
😀 More gladiola bulbs planted yesterday. That's about half of them. Then I'll get back to pulling weeds. I found a package of the mammoth sunflower seeds at QFC on Sunday. I'll be weeding the place for planting them when the weather is warmer, probably in May.
😀 Today will be the last fire in the woodstove before I clean the area. I finished the last of the smaller pieces of firewood. When son comes this summer he can split more wood for me.
😥 The new coat I ordered arrived yesterday with a seriously defective zipper. I packaged it to be returned and ordered another one. It was especially sad because it was a beautiful coat and I was eager to wear it. Another opportunity to practice patience.

Talked to my friend who was visiting St. Louis. She appreciated the info on the weather. They were in turn off the news mode. When they saw what was coming they decided to come home early and avoided the storm entirely. Glad they made it home safe!

Hey, kids,
Racketing around getting things done. Got the script ready so I can get a video done, and then onto a dozen other things on my list. Trying to practice patience myself, Barbie. Not my strong suit, but I'm learning.
Re: I could NOT survive talking to 7 contractors. I have a hard time talking to one. And I need to get a bid for some fencework. Have put a message in to the ones who built our current one - pretty sure they lost money on us the last time, partially because they screwed it up so badly so many times, including cutting a gas line. They broke an awful lot of equipment on the ground here - we'll see if they'll even give me a bid! I do not enjoy making these phone calls.
Got about three more calls I need to make this morning, too… Not at all my favorite.
Hope all's well, and Carol, hope your son's issues are resolved quickly and painlessly.
Heather - Thinking about your sons' father as well - hope he can rally.
Later, y'all,
Love from Arkansas,
Lisa4 -
😀 Lisa Patience is not my strong suit, either, that's why I welcome opportunities to practice so I'll get better and won't have to practice so much. I, too, don't like to make phone calls which has made these last weeks so trying because so much of what I've had to do has required contact by phone.
😀 Gretchen Rubin says some people are "satisfisers'' and other are "maximizers". Calling seven contractors looking for the best choice is a maximizer and choosing the one who seems OK without calling others, is a satisfiser. I tend to be a satisfiser and once I find something that works, I don't look any farther. It fits in with my inclination toward decision fatigue. Also, if it works, don't fix it.

John caught the coastal bus into the centre of town today and walked back. About 50 minutes. He couldn't resist taking these photos of our icon, the burnt West Pier.
I also walked out, to return my long skirt, which was a bit too long and a bit too tight in the waist. I also went to the Asian shop and bought Chinese pancakes for crispy duck and hoisin sauce. It weighed a ton! Massive packet of frozen pancakes! Then I bought a focaccia. :-) Ended up collecting a prescription from the pharmacy. Round trip, about a mile. Not much, but I was knackered! Can't imagine what's in those pancakes! We will have some of them tomorrow with duck legs I have in the freezer.
Then I had a nap!! Going to call G at 4 pm.
Tonight is individual pies from M&S. John has a steak and kidney pie, and I have a steak suet pudding. I love suet, but very, very rarely have it. Having them with mushy peas and roasted cauliflower.
Carol - Very good wishes for your son.
Love to everyone who is suffering. In physical or mental ways.

My grandparents home was down the road from where our childhood home was, and my Mom had my grandparents use a outside light to inform her that everyone inside was ok. It was a nightly thing for us to check down their way to make sure their outside light was on.

Allie,
Glad they were able to find the issue, now to heal you!💖. Thanks so much for the swimming suits you sent me! You are a lifesaver, as the suit options here on Whidbey were dismal, and shopping online took me down a rabbit hole of woe! I promise to take photos of me in them on my trip! How much do I owe you? Can I at least pay for shipping?

Wind has been very high here for the last week, ramping up dust and allergens making it hard to breathe. One of our nice rangers called last night telling me he bought 2 plants that he thought was making him sick. He wanted to know if I wanted them. Well they are too big for the camper so I situated them outside and told him I would babysit them until he found out the problem. One was a snake plant which I absolutely loved, the other was another I didn’t think was the cause of his illness. I explained how the allergies and wind combination is making everyone sick and could very well be that and not the plants. Well, later in the evening he called saying he talked to his doctor about the plants making him sick, and oddly enough, the doctor told exactly what I did. So he came and got one plant to ‘try’, of course it was the snake plant. Oh, well. He hasn’t contacted me again yet today, so I’m not sure if he will come get the other.
My DS has not found a place to live and went through an argument with his friend, who was letting him stay there, and me. So now, I’m not sure where he is staying. I need to contact him. He was in a facility for a week, and had been released. He told me he only went there to get the ‘back to work’ note stating that he is back on his meds and seeing a doctor which covers his next court date the beginning of April and his job. He will not go to a long term facility or take any help from anyone. He wants everyone to do everything for him. He is not trying to help himself so he will never get better. ❤️🩹 This is really hard on me, but I’m sorta glad I live so far away and am not in a position to help him. I did help him with a phone for Christmas which he has been paying me for, but that is all. I just don’t know how to deal with this.
Anyway, enough doom and gloom. Here is Today’s Thought For The Day:
The wedding was so beautiful, even the cake was in tiers!
Here is my latest finished project (This was typed backwards again! Not sure why that is happening!) I did a delete then a return to get it back in the right direction! ??

Hello, My friends;
I hope you are doing well this morning. I slept all day and night yesterday. I fell in the morning, running and playing with Rose(my dog). That scared her, so she was about to lay beside me and bark. Before she could do it, I bounced back up. Then, she had the zoomies to show her joy. Before I went to bed, my exercise ring was almost closed. I had to demonstrate CPR on the manikins several times before I passed. That is hard work. Then, there was a big commotion with the mom, who had issues. She approached the nurse's station, yelling that she needed experienced nurses only. She was mad at the nurse in training for making a mistake and drawing blood while the IV was infusing. She yelled that she wanted only me as her nurse on the weekends. The new nurse was in the breakroom sobbing her eyes out.
On top of that, a tornado came through Mississippi, and she lost her house. So I talked to the mom after the charge nurse and got her back in the room. My student, the other nurse teaching Charlee, returned to finish working on her daughter. The mom wanted me to take over and listen to her vent. While my student helped me, we bathed, changed her linen, and weighed her. Her nurse checked her blood sugar and gave her glucose to increase her blood sugar levels. The mom was upset cause her daughter's glucose level was 38. I held her daughter, and she hugged me tightly and called me "Momo." As I left the room, she asked where I was going, and I said I had three patients to tend to. My 3-year-old needs to eat and get some medicine. I left and thought my student was behind me. She wasn't. So, I did what I needed to do and checked on my other patients. One was a teen from a motor vehicle accident that had a craniotomy. He has significant TBI, so at night, he thinks he is at school. He thought I was his teacher feeling on him when I was reaching for his G-tube. His parents are exhausted. I tried recalling the information that Machka presented us, which was good. That is why I think there should be a family of someone with a TBI support group to help families navigate. Dad is a CRNA, but he was losing his patience with him. I was so happy to find that he was able to urinate in a urinal on his own all day and night. So he can go to rehab soon. Needless to say, I clocked out late. We also had a staff meeting. When I was giving a report, I wondered where my student was. I laughed hard when I realized I left her in the room with that mom. 😂🤣 I tried to look remorseful. I told her that the next time I leave, she will go. I will say come on, Jazz. (Yes, the poor girl got a nickname from me.)She has two more days with me, and she will be graduating. She wants to work in the OR. She will deal more with doctors' temperaments than patients—no wonder I am exhausted mentally and physically when I finish my stretch. Yesterday, I took Robaxin twice and motrin. I rubbed in the Biofreeze and had a weighted heating pad on my back and hip.Allie, I am glad you are being cared for in the hospital. You need to be nurtured and cared for. You have a big heart, and I want you to receive the best care.
Lisa, you and Corey work so hard. You deserve to travel and enjoy yourselves and each other.
RE in Texas, sometimes the cheapest bid may not be the best bid. Please make sure they are bonded and have all of their certifications. I paid upfront, and they used cheap flooring (I hate it). The paint is chipping already, and everything was poorly done. The shower has missing tile, and my craft room was not finished. Read their reviews and see if someone you know had work done and see the work. My stuff was stolen, and he left town without a final walk-through. Then we had a fire from them putting in a new HVAC system, and the insurance company suggested we use this company, and we have a mold problem behind the cabinets. I wanted to use the guy whose son I took care of. Now, I wish I did. Just be careful. I was too trusting.
Machka, I love Alegras. They are also excellent shoes for nursing. I want you to go and see if they can fix your foot. You need your mobility. I loved my Hokas, but this time, I tried Brookes and did great in them without my orthotics.
PIP: Post your place in the MS race and daily stats.
Lanette, I will also look into the COMB study. The doctor saw a difference in my bone scan, too. You are so right about having someone check in more often. It sounds like the Hackman kids were estranged from their dad. I live alone, but my DH checks in on me by phone. I need to do that for my friends as well. I worry about Annie as well. She went radio silent again. Does anyone on our post live near her? As for the Bungee Gym, that does look fun.
Rosemarie, I may look into the Audubon Society and GoGo Grandparents, even though I currently have no grandchildren. It may be a while. I have one who wants me to be theirs. My kids are not ready yet. For now, I want my son to graduate from college. Julia is not prepared either. She is still in my DH's wallet.
Lynn, How are you doing?
Tracey, do you know what the new owners plan to do with the ceramic shop?
Margaret, I, too, think the conductor is fascinating to watch when going to a concert.
Terri, I said a prayer for you too.
Michelle, are you having fun? What equipment is needed for your DVD?
Barbie, you look beautiful in the red sweater(my favorite color). Now that your hair is longer, is it still curly? How long is your hair now? How is Annie? Rose says Woof to her.☺️🐕️
Talk to you all later. Thanks for letting me vent. Love you all.
XO,
Mo from Mississippi

Mo - Thank you, darlin', you're right, we do both work hard, but your life would leave me laid out on the bed or weeping into my wheat germ. Do you think part of your ability to deal with all that is because of you're living by yourself right now? Not sure why I'm curious about it, but I am.
Barbie - Hand-raised as a satisficer from way back. 🙋🏻♀️
Rita - I just got off the phone with my daughter, who's still slugging it out with that crapweasel, waste-of-skin sperm donor, and I'm right there with you that investing that emotion into our grown kids' issues is absolutely EXHAUSTING. You are wearing yourself out on your family even when you're dealing with stresses in your daily life, so no wonder it's a bit of a struggle. Vent all you need, sister, we know you need that. - and it is, honestly, easier to be a little more removed if we're removed geographically. And talking it out with others is a huge burden lifted, too. We're glad you're here. Keep talking, it's all OK.
Allie - So sorry about the UTI honey - I'm thinking that anytime any of us are feeling like ca-ca, we should probably get checked. It's an epidemic with us as a group, I swear. Just glad you went in, because they can go bad so fast, and it really needs to be treated quickly when you're in a transplant situation, I'm sure…
One returned call down, with good result, and two more postponed. Need to go ahead and call my fence company again, I guess. There's been no response to my online request for a bid.
Got my video in the can, just need to design the thumbnail and then get it uploaded.
Love y'all!

Allie … I am so glad that you are back in the hospital under expert care! You are trying to do too much on your own.
Rosemarie … I think you are doing great with the management of your home since your husband passed. We are more capable than we realize …
Barbie … I'm glad that the recipients of your boxes are appreciative. I know you would have sent them regardless of their reception, but it makes the effort more satisfying.
Machka … Your poor feet! I have had issues over the years, but I'm currently in a pretty good place. Plantar fasciitis was relieved on one occasion by forced bedrest (high risk pregnancy at the time) and another time by wearing Crocs. Losing weight, of course, helps, but foot pain and its cause is not always from excess weight. Congratulations too on the permanent job!
KJ … thinking of you?
Annie … hope all is going well with you and your dad.
Rita … I'm sorry that your son is causing you so much worry and grief. Hugs.
Our bathroom remodel … slow but steady. I removed the last of the old wallpaper today … such a pain. Original to the house, the original walls were not prepped correctly so the paper coating of the drywall came off in places as well. Husband will skim coat everything … which he has started.
Yesterday I visited with my mom and took her facility's St. Patrick's Day Party. My mom has never willingly celebrated St. Patrick's Day, so this was a real push to get her there. She had a good time! Might have been helped by the fact that the facility was giving small glasses of Bailey's Irish Cream to the attendees! 😁

Sad stuff:
my friend passed, Monday. Was in ICU from open heart surgery Sunday week before, never really came out of it, then all her organs began to fail. Her best friend responded to my FB message and we cried together. She’d known a long time she needed to get her heart fixed, but refused to go to the hospital after an episode in October. Learned she’d been more than a little reclusive, not leaving the house except for a dental appointment since her husband died in 2020. Now to contact her brother for memorial information/condolences address, so I can let everyone she worked with in Boise know.
Mo thanks for sharing your contractor experience with Re.
Re does your state have a listing of contractors’ licenses you can search to verify?
Allie ((hugs)) thanks for the pic of your little leprechaun, I needed that. Ditto what Lanette said about hope they keep you and the bleeding stops.
Carol prayer said for your son’s surgery, may it be successful and recovery complete.
Lanette that bungee exercising does look like the only way I’d ever be able to do a burpee, but to be honest I’d much rather do aqua Zumba in a very heated pool. Followup DEXA not yet scheduled, I should call and ask for one so results can be included in June’s annual.
Beth the pic of you and your mom, and the incentive to join the party, both made me smile. Thanks!||Heather the love you both shared shines out from that pic. ((hugs))Later, lighter, lovelies!

Didn’t do the DVD I’d planned to do since they needed to keep the fans on in the spin room. When I got in it was very chilly so I did an incline interval workout on the spin bike. The plan for tomorrow is to do an extreme weights DVD
I realized that I can’t post the pictures of the alligator at all. They said we could take as many pictures as we wanted but not to post on social media. I guess I can understand because then some people might get upset thinking that they’re being cruel to the animal and they aren’t
Not cuter leprechaun have I ever seen
Allie – happy birthday to Carmine. How’s Tracey? update: glad to see she's spending time with Carmine today
Lisa – when they put in the fence around our pool, Vince took a level to each and every post to be sure it was straight. They had to fix quite a few
Rita – HUG
Mo – I have a portable DVD player so that’s the only equipment I need (and the DVD).
I tell you, in one sense I’ll be glad to get home because it seems that I’m always on the go down here. But that’s what makes it so nice
Barbara – I’m so sorry about your friend
Remember my friend down here passed? Well, his funeral will be next week. There’s no way we can stay an extra week. Hopefully, his Celebration of Life will be in May so we can come down for it and also check on the bathroom. Oh, when we do, Vince said that Jess hinted that she’d like to watch the cats. To be honest, I’d rather we had Cheryl watch them since that means that the day before we’d have to drive 2-1/2 hrs up there, drive back, then the next day drive 10 hours here. Same for when we get back. Oh well, we’ll figure it out. That’s not for another month or two. She might change her mind

Tracey, that's so cool. I did just look it up! What fun. Have you ever watched Rose Coleman? I met her last weekend! She's the #1 SU rep in Canada and she is AMAZING! So darling, so funny, so talented.

Re - I hope you make your house exactly as you like with few setbacks and troubles.Like you, I don’t suffer pain well.I was in agony for poor Machka the other day.
Rosemarie - you are keeping quite busy. I think that’s what I hope to be in my later years.
Carol - I hope your son had a successful surgery.
Lanette - I agree the rabbits were cute, but not a task I would want to take on. I’m more like Heather in the “nothing to take care of” thinking. I have three inside plants because my DH likes two of them and one was a gift from my daughter. That is three too many for me.
Lanette - I’ve been thinking about Annie as well.
My paternal grandmother lived alone for eight years after my grandfather passed. She had 7 children so she sort of flitted between them visiting and almost everyday she had a visitor of some sort. My elder cousins would go have lunch with her a few days a week. She had to have an emergency gallbladder surgery and had a heart attack on the operating table. Come to find out she was malnourished. She didn’t know how to cook for just one so apparently was eating very unhealthily if at all when someone wasn’t with her.
Heather - love the photos.
Rebecca - we used the outside lights for communication too. We didn’t have a phone a lot of the time, so people would call my grandparents and they would flash the outside light to get our attention. My parents used it to tell my brother and I were to go home from our grandparents. Someone above needed to help us if we “didn’t see” the light and Dad had to come get us. 😂
Rita - thinking of you, it must be awful worrying about your son.
Mo - I don’t know what the new owners are doing yet. All of us regulars are a bit worried.
Beth - love the photo of you and your mom.
Allie - I hope that Dan will stay a couple weeks with you.
Barbara - Sorry for the loss of your friend.
My car is still dead at work. I have to call a tow truck and I got a quote to fix it. I’m really hoping this is the last thing this year. So far it’s been the furnace, the fridge and now my car.
I started watching Canada’s Got Talent tonight. There are a young singing duo from Woodstock, NB which is where we lived before moving here and a lot of our family is located. There is also going to be this season a young girl from Hartland which is the town I grew up in.
I recorded it to watch because some of the stupidity on this and AGT really turns me off, this way I can fast forward.Tracey in Edmonton

Hi All;
Oh, Lisa - DO NOT call those folks again. If they messed up that badly you really don't WANT them to come back. And I couldn't face it, either. I accepted the on-site proposal from the one that came, tonight. They are all about doing permitted, correct work. I am all about that, too.
So, the contractors arrive tomorrow am at 8:30 to begin the demolition.
I am having my Master Bathroom and Closet reconfigured and updated. The master bedroom will be refreshed with new paint, floors and windows. The bathroom and closet are a total overhaul.
Once THAT section of the house is all done, I can start in on the other ones.
This one is going to take all my cash on hand - so I will be doing a refinance in the next few weeks to get cash out to continue the process. I have a great deal to do to bring this house up to the level that I want it to be. It was built in 1978 - and every bit of it is dated, worn, or just plain ugly. So… first the master - then the guest rooms. Lastly, the kitchen/sunroom/dining room areas.
My hope was to do the master for all cash and the guest rooms - but, based on the quotes I received, I am going to have to do the financing now. Oh well.
But, if the builder lives up to expectations, I think we will be able to do what is needed to bring the place up to par for the neighborhood - and perhaps a little better.
That's all for now. I will try to catch up a little later in the week.
**And for those that are worried - this company is licensed and bonded with all the insurance coverages. I found them on a site that ensures the folks listed all all verified, professional contractors. Thanks for looking out!
Goodnight, All.
