Recap 4/7 M ~ Winter is back. Had a dusting of snow very early this morning, temps won't go much above freezing, and wind is wicked strong. With wind chills in teens, no dog walk today.

    • Bread out of freezer for sandwiches / make beefy macaroni for supper ~ yum / limit snacks & sweets ~ veggie straws, 4 Hershey minis, 1/2 oz. cheese (I even weighed) / 80 oz. water ~ yes / log all food / net calories zero 🙂 not bad -142
    • Gentle OT exercises (6x), tape 30 min. (3x), putty (2x), massage scar 😀 continuing to have progress YAY / PT exercises ran out of time / min. 5000 steps 🙂 7000
    • Choir rehearsal 6:30 😀
    • Wash dishes / one spring cleaning task ~ thoroughly vacuumed carpet on basement steps (doesn't happen often enough) so I get a ✔️ plus vacuumed finished part of basement (not even on my list lol) / read / digital declutter / declutter more of family room papers ~ just a few, better than none / other? 😀 ta-da!

JFT 4/8 T ~ Spring is trying to make a comeback. At least the snow has melted (again) & the sun is out. And wind is mild.

    • Leftovers for supper / limit snacks & sweets / 80 oz. water / log all food / net calories zero
    • Gentle OT exercises (6x), tape 30 min. (3x), putty (2x), massage scar / walk dog
    • Confirm & pre-reg next OT appt on R / one spring cleaning task / wash dishes / read / digital declutter / declutter more of family room papers / other?

We had a group breakfast/brunch this morning. I had a blueberry bagel with butter instead of fruit which has been my go to lately. Calories were double my usual, so I limited lunch a little. Now I'm hungry. May add to my afternoon snack. Funny how my mind works. I know I'm going to exercise this evening, so the extra hundred calories is really moot. I think my weight increase is getting in my head even though I know it's a sodium skewed measurement today.

@pridesabtch - sometimes a little leniency is ok, but I have to be careful with the thinking of "Oh , I will work off the extra calories tonight in the gym" .

Late post but wanted to hop on .

Today was a pretty good day. Work was very busy but productive. The day flew by. I got on my walking pad at my desk for the first hour of meetings today. Need to do this more often.

Then during an unexpected half hr break between meetings I was able to slam out several bicep/triceps reps and a few cheater pushups. After work I did my normal scheduled workout which was lower body and abs. I have been trying to do a few extra bicep /tricep days to be able to do more reps with the 20 lb dumbells. I seem to be stuck. I can do about 3 sets of 5-6 reps with the 20's but then need to drop down to 15's. I have been thinking it might be time to work with a trainer a couple of times a week because I am just not gaining the toning and strength I am looking for. My right knee is giving me a fair amount of trouble to where I have had to resort to taking Meloxicam a few days which I hate doing. Its the only thing that seems to be working to lessen the pain. Its feels just like my left one did when I tore the meniscus and had to have it taken care of surgically. Its achy and gets stiff when in one position too long. Ok that was alot of nattering on .. enough for now.

    JFT

Get the old girl out for a walk (our 15 yr old Shepherd) -Yep she's still with us incredibly. but sleeping more and more and having a harder time getting around , along with more accidents in the house. She seems to be withdrawing from interaction a bit.

    Hit my 10K steps - Got 11, 062

    water/electrolytes

    Get peptides order in

    Lower body strength day

Don't leave dishes in the sink

Yesterday was a good day. Food evened out, heavier breakfast balanced with a light lunch and a moderate dinner. Work was tolerable. Spin class was fun and taxing, 327 calories burned. Bingo was fun, didn't win. Dinner was on point, Blackened Shrimp Caesar Salad. Drinks were limited, 3 lite beers.

I have a light schedule this morning, but this afternoon is packed. Wednesday is trivia night. I typically eat poorly on Wednesday's because it's bar food. That isn't likely to change, but I will limit my portions and my alcohol. Fact is this is a social thing we have done for >3 years. We aren't going to stop going so I need to fit it into my routine.

Yes, I have to watch that as well, but I have a good idea of what I burn in a 45 minute spin class, and I was able to lighten my lunch a bit. Actually, lightened lunch a little too much and scarfed down some candy, but dinner was pretty low calorie so it balanced out.

@HappyDonkey75 Having an older doggo (13yo Rhodesian ridgeback mix) ourselves, I can see her slowing down some. Back in the day, I'd walk her 4 miles, then she'd have zoomies in our backyard. Now we get home, and she wants a nap. But she still loves her walks. Glad you still have yours.

@more_freggies76 Hope you are feeling ok, I saw cough drops on your list.

Recap 4/8 T ~ Spring is trying to make a comeback. At least the snow has melted (again) & the sun is out. And wind is mild.

Recap 4/9 W ~ Overcast day & temps mid 40s with chances of rain. Maybe walk dog?

    • More leftovers for supper ~ went to church early for soup supper, ate 2 bowls of different soups & sampled several desserts (small portions) / limit snacks & sweets / 80 oz. water ~ lost track / log all food ~ too much guessing involved & due to stress from HVAC issues, I just quit logging / net calories zero ~ no idea 🙄
    • Gentle OT exercises (6x) only 5, tape 30 min. (3x) only 2, putty (2x), massage scar 🙂 / walk dog or PT exercises no time / min. 5000 steps 🙂 >5400
    • HVAC co. 10:30 (hubby called & workman in our area had time to fit in spring maintenance today yay) ~ technician rewired something with heat pump, which caused transformer to blow, so we had follow-up service early evening, then bc same issue existed, new transformer blew & another service call later in evening… resolved temporarily by disconnecting heat pump (we certainly don't need AC yet) & let furnace run as normal bc we still get freezing temps overnight ~ another service call pending 🤨 / call ex-roomie 12:30 ❤️ wonderful chat (she's one time zone away in VA & we schedule on our busy retirement calendars 😜 to speak instead of text once in a while) / last Lenten service before Holy Week 6:00 🙂 / Amazing Race 8:30 🙂
    • Balance bank accts / schedule cc pmt / claim cc rewards / update budget s/s / order vitamins ~ hubby logged into acct & ordered from my list / wash dishes / one spring cleaning task ~ thoroughly dusted 4 upstairs ceiling fans & washed 6 glass shades / read / digital declutter / other? scheduled doggo's annual physical, enough! 😀 ta-da!

JFT 4/10 R ~ Cloudy for now, temps in 40s, hope sun appears later.

    • Leftovers for supper / limit snacks & sweets ~ already ate coconut scone from bread store bc I was still hungry from last night / 80 oz. water / log all food / net calories zero
    • OT exercises (5x), tape 30 min. (3x), putty (2x), massage scar / walk dog
    • OT appt 9:15 / on way home, Family Pet Food Center (litter) & Breadsmith / HVAC follow-up service?
    • Update budget s/s for add'l expenses / one spring cleaning task / wash dishes / call Mom / read / digital declutter / other?

The NFL draft is here in Green Bay on April 24-26, hosted by the Packers. Certain streets have been closed several weeks already for the erection of the draft "theatre" to the east of Lambeau Field. I just learned the theatre will hold up to 2,000 people. Green Bay may have upwards of 250,000 visitors in that time, which is phenomenal for the smallest city in the NFL (pop. 105,000 not counting the surrounding villages & cities). More than you wanted to know about the city I've lived in since 1980 LOL.

My OT appts are in the Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Center in the Titletown District just to the west of the stadium. My last 2 OT appts, I've gone out of my way to drive around the stadium to see the theatre's progress, and it's huge & impressive. That's probably the last time I'll look, though, since more street closures start on Sunday, more major arteries past the stadium. Glad I only have one OT appt left, I should still be able to drive there next week on the back streets. The building won't even be open the week of the draft, staff will be working at alternate sites.

    Warning , long post ahead…

I am low energy today. Had a middle of the night fiasco with the old girl. She is having more and more f #2 accidents in the middle of the night. I usually hear her getting up and try to hurry to get her to the door but its usually too late . She gets no warning and ends up pooping where she lays..or only a step or two away.

I honestly don't know why I am hurrying because by the time I hear her getting up, she's already done the duty.. So there we were scrambling around and then OFCOURSE I managed to step in some of it.. To make matters worse , it plugged the toilet when I tried to flush it, so my hubby had to get that plunged while I was in the bathtub getting cleaned up.. I tell ya, I don't want a repeat of last night.. not fun.. but now that I type that out, its making me giggle a little.

On a different subject, My new scale arrived yesterday so I got it all synced , app downloaded , yada yada. The old scale registered 166.9 this morning. The new scale said 166.8. (thankfully I am slowly coming back down after my 4.5 lb gain in a week. (WTH, right?) I was concerned the old scale , which is a Withings digital, maybe was not registering correctly because my Shephard has clobbered it multiple times in her clumsiness. Its been abused..

I am glad to see they are closely registering the same numbers. It will make the transition easier.

As far as the metabolic factors, its interesting. I know Its a general guide and not 100% science but here's what new scale tells me ..( I feel like I need to name him/her??) Does anyone do this?

Metabolic age is 53, thats a few years older than what I actually am .. sort of YOUR OLDER THAN YOUR AGE message there.. that's a little bit of an ego blow.. so my metabolism is slower than molasses and my body burns calories more slowly compared to others at the same age. FINE, whatever… I sort of knew that..

Muscle Mass- higher is better, I register in the high range at 103.6 lb , cool.. all the body soreness is paying off …💪💪💪

Skeletal muscle- this is the amount of muscle attached to the bones. again higher is better and oddly, even though the above number is high, this number is low. another WTH moment.. I should be above 50%, I am at 38.4 %. Not sure I understand how I can be high in muscle mass but low in skeletal muscle? will have to look into this more.

Body Fat- I am still registering in the obese range according to the scale app; at 34 %. or 56.8 lb. it does note that people who are more muscular may be labeled as obese based on BMI value despite having low body fat. so its about body composition. I am short stature.. and not of a "slimmer " body type anyways so not sure I could ever get this into the average range..

BMI- I am in the slightly high range at 27.8, the app on the scale calculates 30 and higher as in the high range. This aligns with MFP numbers. but it has come down from where I was a year ago , so I am happy about that.

Body water- this is the water weight metric. today I am right on the line between low/average. This will be one to watch more closely over time , if it goes up much on the days I weigh more.

SubQ fat- I am in the high range at 30.3. It surprised me a bit because I associate this with having a large belly, which I really don't.. I have a waist line again.. still need to lose more though for sure.

Visceral Fat- This measured in the average range at a 10. 11 is the line of being in the slightly high range. This metric is what gets us in trouble as we age with cardiovascular issues and diabetes, which I have alot of in my family. I want to work towards moving this number further down.

Anyways, it will be interesting to see how these number look over time, ofcourse I realize some of it is to be taken with a grain of salt.

    JFT

Going to take it easy tonight , did an easy workout right after work and probably wont excercise any horses tonight.

We have a full day of activities tomorrow to help get things ready for my parents to arrive from AZ for the summer. They are staying at a friends apartment just down the road from us. Last september when they were here for only the month they stayed with us and it was a rough.

Yesterday did not go as planned after work. I got home on time and played with the dogs, but I had a headache and was somewhat exhausted. When Tim came home with Mexican for dinner, I ate and then crashed on the couch. I didn't wake up until 10:00pm. Thought I'd be up a while, but was ready for bed by 11:00. I slept through the night, but still woke groggy.

This morning was a $h!t show literally. I got ready, then noticed the dog food bowls on the counter. Apparently Tim didn't feed them as planned this morning. I had no time to feed at this point. I went downstairs and Elliott had pooped all over the floor. Apparently he walked and pooped, so he could cover maximum area. I cleaned up and mopped. Gave each dog a bone and left. Was late for work. Headache is back. Will go home around 10:00 and feed the mutts and let them out one more time. Luckily, it is a light day at work.

No real plans this evening, unless I clean.

Light load at work this afternoon. Cue the "munchies". I have some healthy and some low cal snacks, but I have 3.5 hours to kill. Aughhhh!

@pridesabtch By the time I'm typing this, your workday will be about done. Hope your day gets better!

@HappyDonkey75 Your last post was fascinating (re the scale) to me. I'm a numbers person, although all those numbers from a scale would probably overwhelm me. Sorry about your doggo, but I did have a small giggle as I read that part. Our last doggo went lame in the hindquarters, and had to lay on doggie pads. It wasn't great but a solution for that time.

Recap 4/10 R ~ Cloudy for now, temps in 40s, hope sun appears later.

    • Leftovers for supper / limit snacks & sweets ~ already ate coconut scone from bread store bc I was still hungry from last night… evening, hubby ate Fritos so I did do, washed down with a beer & tasted great! / 80 oz. water ~ only 64 / log all food ~ did my best / net calories zero 🤪 not even close!
    • OT exercises (5x) ~ only 4, tape 30 min. (3x) ~ only 2, putty (2x), massage scar 🙂 / walk dog 🐕️ 3.84 mi happy dog 😁 happy me
    • OT appt 9:15 / on way home, Family Pet Food Center (litter) & Breadsmith / HVAC follow-up service? he was here 1:00 - 5:00 & on phone with tech support… part ordered (I sure hope this resolves issue) 🤗
    • Update budget s/s for add'l expenses / one spring cleaning task / wash dishes / call Mom ❤️ / read / digital declutter / other? reviewed recipe & got out slow cooker, shelf ingredients for F supper, checked on professional org membership (when are dues due?) 🙂 ta-da!

    JFT 4/11 F ~ Sunny & temps slowly warming up… yay!

    • Chopped veggies & jambalaya recipe in slow cooker for supper / cook brown rice / limit snacks & sweets / 80 oz. water / net calories zero
    • OT exercises (6x), tape 30 min. (3x), putty (2x), massage scar / walk dog
    • Hair appt 11:00 - 12:30 / HVAC install new part 3:00 - 5:00
    • Put clean dishes away / scrub & refill heated birdbath & cement birdbath / empty bags of kitty litter into bins / read / digital declutter / other?

With appts, HVAC visits 3 days in a row, and other stuff, I'm not getting my "one spring cleaning" tasks done per day. Good thing I prioritized the list, and have the most important and/or worst stuff knocked out already. I still have this weekend and next week to finish. Once hubby got the powder room faucet replacement & repairs finally done (a 2-week project yikes) and hung the new towel bars (stuff has to match ya know), he has pitched in (like when I needed help getting the glass shades down from the fans & reaching all stairs with vacuum). Thankfully, hubby has said he'll do floors again next week.

I'll also have choir rehearsal & extra church services for Holy Week, plus one (potentially final) OT appt. All downstairs stuff has to be done when my family is here for Easter dinner. By the middle of next week, I will switch gears to do final grocery shop, put out all Easter decorations & dishware, and start prepping food. Everything upstairs has to be done before nephew arrives to stay here during the NFL Draft later that week. Then, I'll enjoy a nice clean house, and probably let all that slide when it's just me and hubby LOL.

WOTY 2025:  Judicious ~ I just like the way the word sounds, and the meaning is right for me: having or showing reason and good judgement in making decisions. I can apply this word in so many ways!
