@quilteryoyo Not at all! My office administrator just said "Good for you" when I told her how long I went. My lunch is 12-1. I got back right at 1pm. I was late as I still had to change and get back to my desk. That didn't take long at all.

Good morning! Logging two runs - yesterday I worked from home and ran 3 miles at lunch. It was still very windy but the sun was shining. This morning I ran 4 miles. We typically do 5 miles in the mornings but one friend had a last minute change to her schedule so we all cut it short in solidarity.

April 3 - 4km

Goal for April -
100km140kmI was really feeling it that I have run 3 days in a row today. My pace was a little slower. Of course I could blame it also on the fact it was cooler today and not as warm as the last two days.

@martaindale & @quilteryoyo we already follow each other on Strava 😁 Name on its Dicte, same profile pic as here😛
Forgot to do a bit of reporting. Currently at total of 74km/150km for the month. Should be on track. Have a 25k trail race run end may. Currently have a love/hate relationship with Garmin. Yesterday, was supposed to do a threshold run but couldn't get the HR up, dead legs. The other day supposed to keep it below threshold but no, dipped the toes too many times over. Also need to learn to warm up for the warm up run segment 🙄Also need to stretch more 😐️ and I used to be such a good stretcher.

Hope everyone enjoys the Easter weekend for those that celebrate it!
Got up earlier to get a run in, but it was below freezing and windy when I was having my coffee (though really sunny), so rather than hitting the treadmill, thought I'd wait.
Did a bunch of errands & pushed my run to early afternoon.
By then it had warmed up to a beautiful, sunny, 11⁰C (52⁰F) day. Was a bit chilly with the strong wind in the shadows, so I followed the sunshine and streets where the winds were a bit blocked.
A 'turn this way, turn that way' kind of run with no real distance 'goal' or 'time' goal, just a 'let's get out and get lost'. I really like those type of runs, have found some really interesting trails & places that way.
Only saw one other runner out (time of day I guess) but I was really happy how many drivers actually stopped and waived me through intersections even though they had right-of-way. They must have been runners!!5 -
That's great @angf0679 . You are doing great.
Nice running @Teresa502 . You are a good friend. 😉
@WarmJellyfish I glad you told me. I was actually wondering the other day who Dicte was. 🤣 I should have noticed the profile picture. Lots of us have love/hate relationships with our Garmin's.
Sounds like a great run today @John772016 .

Today, I worked at daycare from 8 - 2 in the one year old classroom. There were 9 there today, I think. Felt like 18 at times. 🤣 It's like herding cats, but they are so sweet and loving and one little girl always says, "Sing Ms Vicky."
I was home for about 30 min, then left to mow mom's lawn. She did most of the push mowing today - so she is feeling better. I did the riding and William the edging and rest of the pushing.
I did a quick driveway walk after I finished. Just didn't have the energy or time for much else.

Happy birthday @kgirlhart.
Have friended you on Strava @WarmJellyfish - and I love trails (more on that shortly).
I've been hopeless on here again and am miles behind.
I hiked the Routeburn at the end of last week and absolutely loved it. I knew it would be beautiful, but I was blown away by how stunning it was - it was ridiculously scenic (no wonder they keep making films here).
I'm happy to report that the hike wasn't as hilly or as technical as I expected - I think those describing it to me may not be trail runners… That being said, we took things slowly anyway and enjoyed the views. As we were doing the guided walk (less about the guiding and more about the hot showers and wine with dinner) there was loads of time, including a daily side quest - up a hill to a view mostly.
Anyway, with the pictures doing the 1000 words thing, here you go. (We were very lucky with the weather. Not only does Fiordland have over six metres of rain annually so you can expect rain any time of the year, a cold front had come through a few days prior dropping the first snow of the season on the mountains, however, aside from a bit of drizzle at the beginning, with cloud obscuring a few views, we had lovely weather.)
I spent the first couple of days saying to myself, this would be awesome to run, maybe I should get a few friends to do it with me. The Routeburn track is 32km long, but the side quests on our hike added a few more kilometres. I'm thinking, 32km in a day is doable - they say you can walk it in eight hours!
Next thing, they tell us that we're going to have to get up and leave an hour earlier than scheduled on our last day as it's the Routeburn Classic, and we want to be almost off the trail before being swamped by up to 400 runners!
As it turned out, the lead runner passed me about 5 minutes before the end. I recognised him as he flew past (the running world in New Zealand is small and friendly - he popped into my local parkrun when I was timekeeping about two months ago and set a new course record!). He did the whole thing in 2:43. There's 1400 metres of elevation and very uneven underfoot for a lot of it. Unbelievable.
Guess what I'm signing up for next year?
Home now and back running, or sort of. We have had a cyclone come through in the last few days so it's been very wet and wild (the drought is long gone!). I ran on Monday while the weather was still civil, then missed a few days thanks to the wind (I love running in the rain, but 120km gusts, no thanks, and that's without the flying tree branches and pinecones!). Got out today. The rain is mostly gone but it was still windy, which was only nice because it was sooo humid. I couldn't keep my heart rate down and figured it was the heat.
Garmin has resumed hating me. I was 'unproductive' for the whole Routeburn, and both runs this week are equally poor - just as well I don't give a hoot what Garmin thinks!

I just typed this run report and somehow lost it. So annoying. Anyway, I ran 6.25 miles this morning. It was really nice weather. I didn't run true negative splits, but I did run the second 5K faster than the first. It was a nice run. I saw some school kids having an Easter egg hunt at the park. When I got home, I channeled my inner @quilteryoyo and did some weed eating. I cleaned the house some, so I won't have to do it tomorrow on my birthday. The kids aren't coming until Saturday, but my husband and I will go out to celebrate for dinner tomorrow. I feel kind of weird celebrating in light of the job troubles, but I am going to try to put that out of my mind for the weekend and enjoy time with my family and try not to stress about it too much.
Thanks for the birthday wishes @Scott6255, @quilteryoyo, @Teresa502, @tarun_yadavA, and @John772016. And Happy Birthday to you too @tarun_yadavA!

@kgirlhart Enjoy your Birthday weekend!
I have a nice weekend coming up, one of my sisters and I are booked into a spa tomorrow morning and then on Sunday evening it's a family dinner my Dad organised because everyone one is home for Easter, some live in Galway, and some in UK. It's to celebrate my Mum's 80th birthday which was in December, but she wasn't well at the time and with some family not living here, it was postponed until everyone was home. Some are looking forward to it and others are complaining about the timing, the usual family politics😂

Hi all.
No run today! Sorry @SummerSkier no 10 miler or Half today. Thought I'd break up 2week streak and give legs a breather today (and then again on Easter Monday - last day of membership before I cancel). Out tonight and then unhealthy restaurant trip on Monday - both gonna be calorie blowouts anyway, so figured I'd use both days to rest knees/joints/tendons etc. Think that 11.2M mighta been too soon, given everything.
@Teresa502 @kgirlhart thanks ladies, but birthday is not till Thursday 22nd May. Ages away. This stand-up/actor is visiting from the US on tour. Sis-in-law saw it advertised ages ago and figured she'd get it as a birthday present.
His name is Kumail Nanjiani. Hes been in things like most recent season of Only Murders in the Building, Ghostbusters sequel/re-quel, Men in black sequel/re-quel... Big sick.
So seeing him tonight.

Sis-in-law: "let's meet at a bar near the venue"
Me:
One of my favourite breweries is practically giving it away this weekend!
Oh, and speaking of calorie carnage this weekend...
Those chocolate eggs accumulating. Think my kids are too old for this but keep getting gifted them from aunt's, grandparents etc. (one doesn't really have a sweet tooth at all!) Wife and I on the same page. This weekend only. All have to be finished by then. then back to it Tuesday

@kgirlhart happy birthday today. Enjoy your day and time with your family also.

Wow! @ContraryMaryMary Those trails are gorgeous! And thanks for the birthday wishes. I started my birthday with a 5.7 mile run to commemorate 57 years on this planet. Sometimes I can't believe that I am that old, and sometimes I feel every bit of it. 😊 It was a good run and afterward I did a nice 30-minute yoga. I am planning to take it easy the rest of the day and then going out to my favorite Mexican food place. Then tomorrow will be a rest day and we'll be having a big family gathering for Easter.

@kgirlhart Happy Birthday!!
@ContraryMaryMary That trail looks awesome. Such beautiful scenery. You should totally do that race next year!!

Short one this morning. Saw my first snake of the season, a smallish copperhead, at the edge of a paved trail through a wooded green space. I didn't see it until I was pretty close as it was right at the edge of the sidewalk. I then spent the rest of the run playing snake vs stick.
I'm camping this weekend at a state park a couple hours from my house. I've never been to this park so looking forward to exploring. It has quite a bit of trail because there are equestrian sites here so I will have plenty of trail for my long run tomorrow and am planning on a short one Sunday before I drive home.
6 -
"stick vs snake" not one of my favorite games @martaindale
I wonder if the ticker factory will ever work correctly again.
@ContraryMaryMary those photos sure do tell the story. Looks AMAZIIIING!
I got in 8 this morning and my streak is up to 108 days now for the year with avg hanging over 7 miles per day. whew. I actually think my fitness is finally improving after being stagnant for years even with running and maintaining pretty much the same weight. I was watching my apple health tell me that my recovery rate had dropped significantly from 40 bpm down to 25 in the first 2 minutes post run and was thinking "that's not good" when it hit me that my avg hr DURING the run had also dropped significantly. Of course it's partially because my pace is slower but it's nice not to have my heart rate always in the 150's and 160's constantly when on a run and to see it more in the 120's to 130's when I glance down.
@chris_in_cal what sort of running shoes are you going to go for ? We will require photos.
6 -
Beautiful hike @ContraryMaryMary . So cool that you know the guy who won the race. I think you will enjoy racing it next year.
hahaha @kgirlhart . Great running and weed eating! 😉Enjoy your birthday weekend. Great birthday run. (Mexican is one of my go-to restaurants too. I'm sure you have more authentic Mexican in TX than we do here in TN.)
@Mari33a Enjoy your weekend with family….even with the family "politics."
Enjoy your night out @tarun_yadavA ! It's great that your favorite pub is nearby. Enjoy ridding the house of the "unwanted" candy.
You did great to get it done @yirara .
Smart move @John772016 . Nice treadmill run.
Nice running @martaindale . I'd be playing that game too. Enjoy your camping trip.
You are doing great @SummerSkier ! Looks like you got the ticker to work for you.

I went the gym early this morning. Today was leg day. Deadlift was 45#, 95#, 115#d for 1, 1, and 2 sets of 10. So the weight was the same as last time, but I did the 115# an extra 10 x. Also did abductors, walking lunges, and leg press.
I ran while I got my car maintenance done. The avg pace for the 2.60 miles was 11:43 min/mile. Avg HR was 152 with a max of 172 bpm. Splits were 11:49, 11:50, and 11:22. The last quarter mile was at 9:36 min/mile. My legs were getting tired, probably because I started running less than 30 min from leaving the gym. Anyway, I was going to stop at 2.5 miles of running, but I was on a downhill section, so ran to the bottom of the hill. LOL
I wish I had gotten the lady at the car shop to send me the picture the technician sent her of underneath the hood of my car. Apparently, some critter decided that was a great place to build a nest, out of the strings from a mop I had hanging in the garage. It was big, so we don't think is would have been a mouse. It didn't seem to have caused any damage, thankfully. It makes me wonder when it was done though, since I am gone a lot and the garage door is closed at night and when I'm not home. Just odd.

Morning all
Got in 5.5M at 10'09.
Glad I got it done. 7 pints of beer, followed by a Dave's Hot Chicken at the end of the night, followed by a three scoop gelato.
Main event s-cked. Warm up act was funny thankfully!
6 -
dang @quilteryoyo that was REALLY speedy today. And getting it done while your car was being worked on is a total win. I have gone on walks but not usually runs while getting my car done or when waiting for the vet etc… (during that time they would not let us inside with covid). Very strange about the nest under the hood. Sadly, Sounds like a "rat". Have you had your house checked? I have way too much experience with rats from the barn and from my neighborhood. I actually have a rodent annual contract to make sure nothing gets in.
@tarun_yadavA I have had that happen at comedy clubs also. Sometimes the really awful ones just keep attacking someone in the audience also instead of just being funny. And sometimes everyone else thinks they are funny and I just don't see it.
It was supposed to be a rainy week but looks like it is holding off some today. Maybe the egg hunt in the neighborhood today got lucky.
4 -
Great way to end your work week @chris_in_cal .
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . Sorry the show wasn't what you expected, but at least you had great food, company, and a funny warm up act.
