Weighing in: 64.6kg / 142.4lb. My goal for the end of Sept was 63.8, so didn't make it unfortunately. I've been losing weight so slowly for a while now, just maintain or losing maybe 0.5lb a week. Maybe because I'm so short? I don't know. I'm happy that I'm at least still losing, and furthermore that I'm still here on mfp. I don't think I've ever stuck at trying to lose weight for this long. Also realised I am getting pretty close to having lost 10kg, which was my initial goal when I realised how overweight I had gotten. And my BMI is now at 26.9, so that's improving as well.
Plus, summer is on it's way, and it gets hot as hell over here where I live so I never have a big appetite in the summer months. I went to the beach yesterday! It was only 26˚C so not really beach weather, but lovely all the same. I eventually manned up and swam/lolled in the (freezing) water for about an hour. I am looking forward to the sun returning, gotta say. But at the same time... I'm a winter girl at heart, so by the time we hit full summer I will be taking that back :laugh:

good morning Ravenclaw!! hope everyone is having a good weekend. i think i am finally back to myself after having been sick most of the week. it really washed me out more than i had realized. unfortunately it was not accompanied by weight loss . here are my september stats:

sorry that i was no help to our house numbers. i am setting my october goal as 175 (same as what september was) and will hopefully make better progress this month. i have had 175 as a goal in my mind for halloween for another challenge as well as my daughter's senior night for marching band (nov 4th). all the senior members for football, marching band, and cheer leading are presented WITH THEIR PARENTS before the last game of the season. i really wanted to look good for this (first of several) senior nights. i really means a lot to me so i'm gonna really try to bust it out this month!! might need some help from my house mates!!!0 -

I just finished the Harry Potter audio books and am sad all over again (the narrator is wonderful!). I was listening to them while I walked on the treadmill and now, on top of the series being over, I have no incentive to step on the blasted machine! To top it off, I just found out that they're not opening Pottermore up to the rest of us now until the end of October. :sad: What's a witch to do?
@psb13 - since the House Cup will be awarded to the house with the most house points instead of the most weight lost, you most certainly did help us! Besides, no worries here. We're all in this together!! I'm glad you're finally feeling better!

What do you all think?Does anyone think it's unfair to give someone a Prefect Badge that's already earned one in a month, or is it motivating to try to keep it/earn it? I go back and forth, but I don't want anyone to be discouraged that can't do as much as someone else. Any feedback is welcome and encouraged, please!

First of all - oh no! Disaster! Hope you find something else to keep you occupied in the meantime. Maybe start over? Lol.
As for the question - I can see it being a little discouraging if the same people are prefects each month (if that's what I'm understanding it to mean), but on the other hand, if they earned it, they deserve it, and it might make others try to amp up what they're doing in order to earn it for themselves. The only possible suggestion I might have would be to base it on something different every once in a while to reward other behaviors for those who can't compete in other ways. Not sure what, though, or how you would track in some cases, but just a thought.0 -

I think the current system is fine. I've been prefect twice in one month, and wasn't prefect last week. I agree with the decision to not let someone be a 'double-prefect' in a week. Using a tie-breaker is good.
Weight based merit - not really an issue to me. Heavier individuals typically lose more weight when starting out. Weight loss tapers off over time. It helps that it's based on a percentage of total weight. Eventually you get to maintenance which means that over time you will be less and less likely to make Prefect based on weight loss.
Exercise based merit - We keep changing the goals, which keeps things interesting. Some challenges are harder than others. I don't think the challenges have been ridiculously easy or ridiculously difficult. This OWL probably creates the widest variation among individuals.
Food based merit - again we keep changing goals. which keeps things interesting. As long as the goal is nutritionally healthy, I don't have any concerns about meeting goals. I am not usually challenged by food issues, so perhaps I have an unfair advantage.
Adding spirit has a normalizing effect on the OWL points and I think contributes to motivation to keep up with the other goals. Unless your network is down, there isn't much reason why you can't earn a spirit point each day. We could change spirit to include some type of content, like recipe ideas, NSVs, motivation ideas, and so on, but I don't think that's necessary.
Receiving kudo's on my profile for consistently tracking food, working out and losing weight is my biggest source of motivation.0 -

Almost forgot to check in today but I made it just before bed! Checking in at 278.2 which is down a bit from last week I'm also adding 2 OWLs for exercise, 3 OWLs for food, and 50 house points toward a Ravenclaw victory!
I'm slowly but surely getting back to better exercising and fitting in all the studying I need for this last exam (like the true Ravenclaw I am)

Weighing in for the week. Had a 2 pound loss from last week. 172 down to 170. Looking forward toleaving the 170's behind for good!
I can contribute 739 house points. As for every thing else, well....I'm just having a hard time trying to keep up with all the other points, postings, etc. So if it's okay with everyone, I'll just contribute as many pounds lost and as many house points as possible.

I personally don't have any problems with it. I think it's good to have it there as a motivation to earn the badge.
Pretty excited today ladies (and gents? I rdk if we have any dudes here). Bought a load of clothes online on Asos (I was weak, it was a 20% off sale), and they arrived and they all fit! I've been transitioning between an Australian size 14 and 12 now, and decided to get 12s, cos I thought *kitten* it, I can't return them, but if they don't fit they'll be aspirational pieces for me to work down to. It's hard to buy clothing whilst losing weight. My instinct is to err on the side of caution and buy a looser fit, but I have to keep pushing myself to just buy the smaller size. I have no intentions of going back to a 14, so why buy things in that size?
How do you guys find clothes shopping? Do you buy "aspirational" clothes? Or op shop (thrift?) clothes while you're between sizes? I have tried to go op shopping a few times, but they're not really as cheap as they used to be over here.0 -
Matchamatcha- I have the same problem! I've decided to only buy new clothes when I really need to, and giving myself milestones- so I bought quite a lot of new things when I hit -15 lb, and will do the same again at -30. !5lb seems enough to deserve new clothes! But also old ones are really quite loose by that point...
Right, this is probably going to be quite a long post, sorry!
First, thank you so much to everyone who responded with ideas information about my protein question last week, and to gwen who added me as a friend so she could see my diary and be more constructive, I feel really rude for not acknowledging but was not on mfp for three days at the end of last week.
Second, just realised that my weigh-in today moves me out of obese and into overweight, exciting! I also got some really nice compliments this weekend from people I trust, which was lovely, and I wore some shorts which at christmas I couldn't do up, but now can fit into easily (and get my whole fist into the wasitband as well- probably not going to be able to wear them for long ha!
thirdly, I am just back from the doctors and he has diagnosed me with bronchitis and pleurisy (double whammy, nice!) bought on by exhaustion. HE has banned from execising, and also says I need to take time off everything basically, I can't really take time off work though so I think my swimming and logging on here are going to have to go for a while, as well as socialising, or having a life basically. Brilliant! SO this week I'm not going to get any exercise points or OWLS, and as I'm not logging I won't know about the food owl either. I'm hoping I lose weight just from being ill but might be unlikely!
Will ty to check in occassionally just so I'm in the loop, but won't be contributing much to the challenges this week, sorry guys!!

Daily check-in time! So my boyfriend had to do an intervention yesterday. The one scale I own that is very readily accessible is my digital in the bathroom. I weigh on it at LEAST once to twice a day. I told him I was trying to cut back to weighing in only once a week, so he yanked the battery out of my digital lol. Now I am more apt to only weigh in once a week as my only other at home option is my WiiFit.0

I went to see my doc this morning - BP: 110/73, Cholesterol 163 (down 57 points!!!) HDL 40/ LDL 120/ Tri 73. Pretty amazing. Doc said the flaxseed meal probably helped me drop the cholesterol so quickly.

Just checking in, still mentally frazzled from my exam and trying to catch up on everything(the house is a wreck).
Going food shopping today and I have already planned out the family's menu for the week, I have even started the man on soy sausage in the morning instead of bacon. So I am hoping it will be much easier than anticipated to switch the family to healthy eating. except the monster he seems to only eat fruit bread cheese and sugar. Trying to broaden his horizons I made chicken nuggets from scratch last night and he wouldn't touch them. I am really ready for this terrible twos to be over.0 -
